FTP Transfer

Hi Everyone
Probably quite a simple question to some of you. I am trying to connect a site I have created in DW CS3 from my desktop computer to my Dell Inspiron laptop. I have set-up everything on the laptop using IIS in windows XP. I am using SmartFTP software, and I have a folder called test inside the inetpub - ftp folder. My ip address of the laptop is 192.168.2.11
I have set-up SmartFTP with a name of localhost-Anonymous. When I try and connect to my laptop from DW using the FTP, I keep getting a message saying it cannot connect.
Can someone tell me what I have to type in the ftp host box, and the host directory box. to get this to work.
Many thanks everyone.
Neil

In order for students to transfer files to the Web server, you would need to create folders for them in the Web server folders. I seem to recall seeing inetpub in the path, but that would have been for whatever MS's Web server defaulted to back in the days of NT 3.x.
You don't seem to be the right person for this job. Is there nobody else in your organization familiar with setting up a Web server with FTP access? If not, I suggest you hit the manuals, help, and online resources hard - and do NOT make the server available to the Internet.

  • FTP Transfer: based on filename it needs to be moved to different directory

    Hi,
I am doing a FTP transfer of file from one location to another. In this scenario, based on filename the file needs to be moved to Directory A or Directory B.
Is this possible having a single receiver file adapter?
    Regards,
    Ashish

    Hi Ashish
    What you can do is
    1. You can pick the file from location and use variable substitution to deliver the file on base of filename. But the limitation is folder name should have some characters common to filename as well.
    2. You can write file to a temperory location and then execute OS command to move the files to appropriate folders
    3. Create two communication channels and enhanced receiver determination to find our which folder based on filename at runtime.
    Thanks

  • Im trying to publish a web gallery to BC, my settings seem correct but I'm still getting an  error: FTP transfer failed ' unknown error'. Techs on BC, say FTP working fine. Please help!

    Hey peeps,
Im trying to publish a web gallery to be hosted on BC. Despite having what seem the correct settings im getting an error: FTP transfer failed ' unknown message'. Have checked with techs on BC. They say FTP working fine that end.
    Any suggestions?

Have you tried connecting to another FTP server in Lightroom?
For example, if you get a free Flickr account, can you login to it and upload a file to it?
If you can't upload to any server, then you have a general FTP-in-Lr problem, but if problem is only with BC then, well, it's time to start scrutinizing the BC settings..
PS - All my FTP'ing plugins have an enhanced FTP settings test feature designed to help you debug FTP settings, so another option is to download one of them, for example:
    robcole.com - FTPAggregator
    and experiment with settings tester:
To get here, you have to click 'View / Edit Additional Settings' (in plugin manager), then choose 'New' or 'Edit' from 'Sync Pairs' drop-down menu.
If test is unsuccessful, enable verbose logging (top section of plugin manager), and review the log file after test, or send to me.
If you have a problem running plugin, please contact me directly:

  • XI 7.0 Flat File FTP Transfer

We have an ERP 2005-NetWeaver system installed and in process.  In the XI(now called PI) we have it set up properly checked x3 by 2 different people and the SM and SLD up and configured.  Our first Business Scenario was to pull an iDoc from ERP 2005 and deliver it to the PO for a Legacy non-SAP system.  It eventually worked, the problem turned out to be "rights".
Scenario 2 is to pull a Flat File via adapter FTP:// from the FTP Server to the ERP 2005 system. It dosn't work, log below, it appears to just disappear somewhere between the FTP:// server and the XI box integration engine or before.  We have tested the FTP Transfer from each machine using the MS Srvr FTP service and it works there just fine (even used the exact same sub-directories and user/attributes. We have also changed OS rights on the:
.../XIREPOSITORY/* and all sub-directories to: Group;Everyone, Role: Full Control.  We have done numerous other things I'm too embarrassed to even mention, yet we still get the same response:

It clearly says that it dont have the directory. Also eventhough it is there might be you would have given wrong credentials. So can you please once again give and check? After this go to sxmb_moni and check whether you find any error?
In the last try to check the message display tool so that you can know till where your message has flown? You can log into the message display tool from http://<hostname>:<portno>/MessagingSystem/monitor/auditlog.jsp

  • Compression for ftp transfer before re-editing footage in FCP

    Hi to all,
I am soon going to be receiving DV footage daily, that is going to be sent via ftp transfer. I will then be editing that footage and posting it on the web.
The people sending the footage will have little internet access time during their trip.
Since the end result is for web purposes, i would like the shooters to compress their PAL footage in 320x240 before posting in on the ftp.
Would anyone have any suggestions as far as to what would be the most appropriate compression options out of FCP for it to be light enough to travel fast, and easily re-imported in FCP after arrival.
I would assume i would then calibrate my projet to the settings that have been sent, right?
    thanks for your help.
    Tee.

    Thanks for your answers.
I'm aware of the terrible quality loss that will be occurring.
The end format is for the web, and the idea is to keep a chronicle of the 2 week event, with a short video update.
The subject matter is what is of importance here. The event is a 2 week demonstration across europe against unemployment and growing social injustice.
It would be great to have more time and money to use the original footage (via fedex and later editing).
But i will try diffrent transfer options. One may work.
My main question is, (with this totally random example)
lets say i receive a compressed sorenson 3 .mov at 320x240 frame size, with a keyframe at every 15i, sound converted to stereo AAC at 96 kbps....
When i import that file in final cut,can i adjust my presets to match that?
Or will i need to edit in a DVPAL 720x576 preset, and render...
    thanks again;
    tee.

  • CRIO FTP transfer file size limit

    Hi,
I generated a data file on my cRIO that is about 2.1 GB in size. I'm having trouble transferring this file off of the cRIO using FTP. I've tried windows explorer FTP, the built in MAX file transfer utility, coreFTP,and WinSCP. I am able to transfer other files on the cRIO that are smaller in size.
Is there an FTP transfer file size limit? Is it around 2 GB? Is there anything I can do to get this file off of the device?
    Thanks!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I am not making the FTP transfer programmatically through LabVIEW. Rather, I am trying to utilize the cRIO's onboard FTP server to make the file transfer using off the shelf Windows FTP file transfer applications. I generate the data file by sampling the cRIO's analog inputs and recording to the onboard drive. I transfer the file at some point after the fact; whenever is convenient.
To program the cRIO, I am using LabVIEW 2012 SP1 and the corresponding versions of Real-Time and FPGA. I am using a cRIO-9025 controller and 9118 chassis.
I do not get any error messages from any of the FTP clients I have tried besides a generic "file transfer failed".
I have had no issues transferring files under 2 GB using FTP clients. I have tried up to 1.89 GB files. The problem seems to only appear when the file is greater than 2 GB in size.
I have found some information elsewhere online that some versions of the common Apache web server do not support transferring files greater than 2 GB. Does anyone know what kind of FTP server the cRIO-9025 runs?

  • FTP transfer progress bar

I'm trying to write an FTP application by using FTP library provided with LabVIEW Internet Toolkit library.  I have a large file (>1GB) that I want to transfer from PXI Real-time controller to my host computer running Windows XP.  On my windows machine I would like to show the users the progress bar and percent of the file being transferred just like the FTP windows provided by MAX from NI. Please See the attached screen capture.  How do I accomplished that?
    Thanks!

The low level file transfer is performed in vi.lib\addons\internet\utils\tcputil.llb\TCP Write Stream.vi
There is a shift register that contains the bytes left unwritten that could be used to determine the progress.
    Issues:
You would need to modify this VI to expose the bytes left unwritten to your UI.  In general, its not a good idea to change NI supplied VIs.
This VI is reentrant. It may be possible to have more than one FTP transfer happening at the same time; so using a LabVIEW global to expose the value would not be a good idea.
Now is the right time to use %^<%Y-%m-%dT%H:%M:%S%3uZ>T

  • Business Objects Enterprise 11.5 FTP Transfer Problem

    Hello,
Hopefully someone out there will be familiar with the issue I'm having and be able to provide a solution.
We are running Business Objects Enterprise 11.5 on our Windows 2003 server.  I've created and scheduled a job on the server that creates an XLS file containing loan portfolio data that is to be transmitted to a third party client on a monthly basis.
The problem centers around the method of transfer, which is via FTP to a secure site hosted by the client.  When executed through Crystal, the FTP actually does achieve a successful login using the credentials the client provided (we have verified this repeatedly by looking at the logs), but the client's server "kicks out" when we attempt any operation on it.
A similar result was produced when we attempted to FTP to the site via the Windows command line.  The login was successful, but even a simple command to view the directory "dir" resulted in the connection being rejected.   To make a long story short, after reviewing the issue extensively with the client's technical department, our conclusion was that the problem was the result of the FTP sending in "active" mode instead of "passive".  We confirmed this by installing a freeware FileZilla on the same server, and switching between active and passive modes (active failed, passive did not).
Their tech people recommended that we contact SAP to get answers to two questions, which I'm hoping someone out there may know:
    1)  How does Business Objects Enterprise 11.5 execute the FTP process?  Is it using its own native logic or simply invoking the command line?
    2)  Is there any setting with the console that would enable us to modify the FTP settings to send force it to send in passive mode?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
This is a known limitation. BO only supports active mode for FTP. Refer 1782115 - Which FTP mode is supported as a schedule or publication destination for reference.
If you are able to write a batch file or a program object to transfer a file from a file location to Client FTP, you can try the below workaround.
    1. Add the script\batch file as a program object in BO. In the script make sure you include the code to delete the instance after it is successfully transmitted through FTP.
    2. Create a File event pointing to the location along with the name of the instance.
    3. Schedule the report to the file location with the specific instance name.
    4. Schedule the program object based on the file event you created in step 2.
    Hope this helps.

  • Non-unicode FTP transfer of chinese characters

    Hi,
We're trying to transfer data in SAP stored under .txt format using an abap program to FTP across to another external system. Our current SAP system is 4.6C is does not have unicode capability and uses code page to translate non-English texts. We have data that contains chinese characters and we would need to automatically transfer these data across to the external system via FTP.
The problem we face is that it appears that the text in the receiving end was unable to interpret the chinese characters and funny characters are appearing. How do we solve this problem ?

    hi
as far as i know when working with korean characters
we came to know that OS level should support the language characters
usally if the text file is having ascii characters that is enough(no need of any kind of specifi language characters, korean or chinese or what ever it may be)
if u open this text file with proper OS installed in your system then it will appear correctly for you
otherwise it will show junk characters
so concentrate on the ascii values for the chinese characters in your system
if the target system supports chinese characters then this ascii characters should appear as chinese characters to them also

  • FTP transfer with lid closed on MB

    Hi there
If I start sending files by FTP using USB mobile broadband, and then close the lid on my MB, will it disconnect and stop the transfer or keep the connection open and keep working.
I quite often have to send a lot of files while out on location, but don't want to have to wait until they have fully sent every time.
    Can this be done?

A USB device can wake up a MacBook with the lid closed. In general, plugging in a device will do that. Unless the device is an input device (keyboard or mouse), and an external monitor is attached, the MacBook will go right back to sleep.
Just leave the lid open, and set one of the hot corners to turn off the display.

  • FTP transfer problem

    Hi,
I've created a code that transfer files from a Robot Controller to a PC.
My code is working, I can see all the files in my computer and I don't have any error from LabVIEW, but the size of the files are not exactly the same.
We decided to compare the files (binary comparison) with UltraCompare and some bytes are not the same, which cause us big trouble.
    I'm using LabVIEW 2010 SP1.
You can see in attachment the result from the UltraCompare Software, also the 2 files transfered with CoreFTP and with my LabVIEW code.
Any ideas why some bytes are not exactly the same?
    Thank you
    Stephanie

The FTP VIs are part of the internet toolkit I believe.
The files you retrieved with CoreFTP correctly match the ones you uploaded?  Also are all the differences single bits like in the pictures?
There's a file error line from the retrieve VI - do you ever see anything of note on it?
If you do all the transfers without using binary mode do you have the same issue?
Another, maybe better, option would be to use the retrieve multiple VI.  This would let you wire the cluster you build in the second to last for loop straight to the VI instead of having to use the last for loop.
    http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/370014E-01/internetftp/ftp_retrieve_multiple/
Also I didn't see the close FTP session VI anywhere.  You might make sure you're using it.

  • Read spool - convert to PDF - FTP transfer

    Hi,
How can I read a particular spool then convert it to PDF and transfer the PDF file to another system using FTP?
Can anybody give me sample code or tutorial how to do this.
    thank you very much!!!
    james

    Hi,
Make use of the following functions to do the required job.
    1. CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF - Converts the spool to pdf file
    2. FTP_CONNECT - connects to the FTP server
    3. FTP_COPY - copies the file from source to the destination
    4. FTP_DISCONNECT - terminates the connection

  • FTP transfer in warehouse builder

    Hi,
I need to transfer DB2 files to os through FTP.
then after the files should be taken into external tables for the further process.
    how do i do it..
    regards

Well, you can do this in a two-stage process using a mapping and the process flow.
Your mapping would be defined against an external table as it's source which points to the location on your server where the files will be FTP'd to. Note that this presents the issue that it will be pointed to a file by name, so the new files would need to overwrite the old files, or you would need to do some gymnastics to repoint your external table (has been discussed here - search)
You would use a process flow which first uses an FTP activity to perform the ftp to bring the files over, and then calls the mapping to load the data. If you need to do any pre-processing or renaming of these files, you would probably do that via a shell script activity (check your docs, and there have been discussions here about them)
Bear in mind that normally OWB does not install with permissions enabled to allow the FTP, Shell, and SQL*Plus objects to run for security reasons (backdoor to the server). The steps to enable those activities is to modify the file Runtime.properties located in
<owb-home>/owb/bin/admin/ on the Oracle Home running the Control Center service, not the client, and then bounce the Control Center service using:
    <owb-home>/owb/rtp/sql/stop_service.sql
    <owb-home>/owb/rtp/sql/start_service.sql
Step 1: Stop the Control Center service by running the following script from SQL*PLUS <owb-home>/owb/rtp/sql/stop_service.sql as the Runtime Repository owner
Step 2: Open the <owb-home>/owb/bin/admin/Runtime.properties file in an editor. To enable Shell, Ftp or Sqlplus activity, you need to change the value of the property. You should only enable the activity (or activities) which are required.
    property.RuntimePlatform.0.NativeExecution.FTP.security_constraint = DISABLED
    property.RuntimePlatform.0.NativeExecution.Shell.security_constraint = DISABLED
    property.RuntimePlatform.0.NativeExecution.SQLPlus.security_constraint = DISABLED
    to
    property.RuntimePlatform.0.NativeExecution.FTP.security_constraint = NATIVE_JAVA
    property.RuntimePlatform.0.NativeExecution.Shell.security_constraint = NATIVE_JAVA
    property.RuntimePlatform.0.NativeExecution.SQLPlus.security_constraint = NATIVE_JAVA
Step 3: Start the Control Center service by running the following script from SQL*PLUS <owb-home>/owb/rtp/sql/start_service.sql as the Runtime Repository owner

  • FTP Transfer problem Vista

Hi everybody. I'm using Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 since yesterday
and everything is working fine. Except the transfer to the FTP
server. It seems to work fine but when a file appears on the server
the byte size goes after two seconds to zero. Does anyone knows
this problem ? I'm using a test version but thought its full
functioning. Has it anything to do with this, or is it coming from
some Vista problem ? Thanks for your answer. Burkhard

So, the file uploads and seems fine, but suddenly the file
    size changes?
I've never seen such a thing either on my Vista box with CS3,
    or posted
    here.
