FTTC enabled but not commercially viable?

What does it mean when BT say that a cabinet I am connected to is already FTTC enabled but is not commercially viable?

I have an email from openreach when I asked why all my street can order Infinity and I can't (same exchange and cabinet).  I was told the following: "
Thank you for your email. Apologises for the delay. Regarding the delay for STAINTON exchange cabinet 42.
I have gone through the escalation chain email as well however, apologies to say that though the cabinet in customer’s area is FTTC enabled still it is not commercially not viable. Once it will meet the criteria we will able to provide the FTTC line. we can then send the email chain to chase. 
I have no idea what this means!!!???  When I call BT I am simply told "it is not available in your area"....when actually it is...just not for my number/house.
Can anyone translate the openreach email into simple layman terms please?

  • Device is enabled but not star

    I have looked everywhere for a solution to this problem and found one:
    Symtom:
    Sound Blaster Li've 24-bit Device shows up in device manager correctly (no
    ! on it)
    Device is enabled and is working properly.
    Clicking on properties shows that the device is enabled but not started.
    Creative Diagnostics indicates that only hardware driver passes testing, all others (midi,wave, etc) failed.
    Control Panel -> Sound/Audio devices shows no audio devices.
    Problem:
    Plug and Play Device Emulator not listed in system devices.
    Solution:
    Copy C:\WINDOWS\inf\machine.inf to C:\temp
    Edit C:\temp\machine.inf so that you delete the line that says ExcludeFromSelect:*
    Go to Control Panel and add hardware.
    Click Yes it is already connected.
    Add new system device
    Choose driver to install from list
    Click on Have disk.
    Browse to C:\temp\machine.inf
    Select System Devices/Plug and Play Enumerator.
    System Specs:
    Windows XP SP2
    Sound Blaster Li've 24-bit
    Pentium 5 .5GHz
    Gb PC2700 RAM
    What I tried before doing this that didn't work:
    * removing sound card from motherboard completely,
    * tried reseating in each of 5 different pci slots
    * uninstalling all sound drivers and devices
    * reinstalling all creative software
    * cleansweep of windows
    * uninstall from device manager and allow windows to detect
    * ctzapxx.exe on cd from creative.
    * confirm on-board sound card was disabled in BIOS
    None of those things seemed to work. I'm not sure why the plug and play device enumerator has to be there or what it does, but when I reinstalled that device, my sound card was working perfectly again.
    I only post this because I see many people having similar problems!

    I had the exactly same problem with my new Sound Blaster Li've 24-bit card. (Device is enabled and is working properly, clicking on properties shows that the device is enabled but not started, Diagnostics indicates that only hardware driver passes testing, all others (midi,wave, etc) failed.)
    This is a Perfect working solution!

  • Back to my mac - iCloud enabled, but not working

    Last year I made very regular use of Back to My Mac.  Time and again I had no problems using my Mac Book Pro and connecting to my Mac Pro back home - did this from all over the place.
    Then last month, my DSL router died and I had to upgrade.   The Netgear switch I had used stopped letting Back to My Mac work - turned out there was a glitch and I was one of the few who had a working unit, but not that it had tanked I could not get it back.  All systems would get an error when trying to enable Back To My Mac instructing me to review my settings, enable UPnp, etc...  
    So now I have a new Netgear R6300 and my MiniMac, Mac Pro and Mac Book Pro all can have Back to My Mac checked without an error showing up.  Can uncheck and re-check and the spinning wheel does it's thing and the box shows properly with no error.   Great - but apparently not really.   All these systems are in the same network, so of course they can see each other from within my network - no need for Back To My Mac at all.
    But as soon as I try and connect from outside my network I can't.   The Netgear R6300 provides a guest wireless network (that can't see or share the home network), so I can grab another IP address and effectively be outside my home with the Mac Book Pro.   Again, no error when I look at iCloud - and I can uncheck and recheck the Back to My Mac box and the handshaking necessary seems to be fine - but I do not get my home systems appearing in the Finder Shared list as they once did.
    The systems in my house can't see the Mac Book Pro either.
    As I have a group of static IP addresses from Centurylink I can use a fireware adapter and directly connect a network cable to the M1000 DSL modem - and directly pull one of my other IP addresses for the Mac Book Pro and have it completely out from under the Netgear R6300.   But the situation is the same - the Mac Pro and Mini Mac both appear to be configuered for Back to My Mac (can check, un-check and recheck without an error), but they can't see the Mac Book Pro.   Likewise the Mac Book Pro appears properly set for Back To My Mac - but it can't see either the Mac Pro or the Mini Mac.
    It makes no difference whether I enable the Centurylink M1000 DSL firewall or have it disabled.   UPnP is activated on the Netgear R6300, and if I turn it off I get an error when trying to set up Back to My Mac with any system funneling through the R6300 that the connection can't be made and I should check things like UPnP.    So when it is enabled there certainly seems to be at least some sort of semi proper handshaking going on.
    For diagnostic purposes only, I have stretched a really long Cat 6 cable accross the room and plugged the Mac Pro directly into the M1000 DSL too - pulling yet another static IP from my assigned block.  Now the Mac Book Pro and the Mac Pro can see each other via Back to My Mac - but neither can see the Mini Mac, and it of coruse can't see either of them.
    I am not wedded to Netgear, but I have had lousy luck with Linksys and Asus - the Asus.  The Mini Mac is a server (web and email) and Asus would not properly route mail to the Mini Mac and their Tech support was both difficult to reach and unable to explain why, just go try another.   The Linksis EA6500 was dead out of the box, and again Tech support suggested to just go get another one.   Asus was truly horrible to work with, but I would try another Linksis - but I have had flakey history with Belkin and Linksis which is why I went to Netgear.  
    So I know that the Centurylink M1000 does not appear to be the issue as devices connected directly to it can enjoy Back to My Mac.   I know that the Netgear R6300 appears to be working but clearly there must be something wrong somewhere.
    I don't seem to be caught in a double NAT issue, and I don't have extreme firewall issues in play.   Much as I would like and intend to put stiffer rules in place, right now I just want to get thigns working.
    Clearly I am missing something.  Suggestions - even for a different router know to be working in a small but robust network with cable and wireless would be most welcome.   All three systems are running OS X 10.8.3 - the Mini Mac also running server.  Both the Netgear R3600 and the Centurylink M1000 have the latest firmware.

    Is the Extreme in bridge or router mode.. most people are finding it has to be in router mode to work although I don't think that is specific in the instructions..
    You should not need to access the extreme to get into the Mac though.. do you have a hard disk on the AE you are trying to access??

  • Auto optimizer stats collection enabled, but not running and not showing up

    I enabled auto optimizer stats collection days ago, but it never ran. DB version is 11gr2, OS is redhat 5. It shows enabled in dba_autotask_client, but not in autotask_task. Please help on this issue.

  • Driver enabled but not star

    Hi,
    It appears as though I need some help. I am runing Windows XP Pro SP2. My Soundblaster Li've 52 soundcard was working and now it is not. Looking at the Soundblaster in Control Panel/Sounds and Devices/Hardware/Driver/Properties/Audio Devices/Properties/Stauts: Driver is enabled but has not been started.
    Does any one have any ideas on how to start this driver? I believe an anti-spyware program may have deleted a file, but I don't know which one. Sounds and Devices (Control Panel) states that the device is working properly.
    I have reinstalled drivers to no avail.
    Somebody out there, or someone at Creative should know the answer to this one.
    Please help.

    Did you install any new hardware or software between the time the card worked and when it failed? If so, can you uninstall that and restore your system to the earlier state when the card worked?

  • Touch Pad is enabled but not working

    I have just this minuet reinstalled Win XP and the touch pad is not working and I cant work out what is coursing this problem....
    The Toshiba console is saying that it is enabled but it is not working? Help!

    iphone 4s with verizon will send email via wi-fi but not 3G. Are there any ideas why?

    Depends on the email account.  If it is from your Internet provider they may only allow use of their SMTP server for sending emails when on their network.  To send emails when not on their network (i.e. when using Cellular data) it would require using a different SMTP server.

    Strangely devmon.service does not appear in the log of the boot process at all.  However, it says something about the user session at some point, if that helps:

  • OpenGL Enabled, but not working (Photoshop CS4)

    I have having a weird problem with Photoshop CS4. First of all, let me give off the specs.
    OS: Windows 7 64 bit
    Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 7570 (Driver Version 8.960.11.1000, with latest Catalyst Control Center)
    I use Photoshop CS4 for freelance work, and one of the tools I like to use is the Rotate tool. When I first got my desktop and installed Photoshop, everything worked fine. However, recently I was forced to perform and factory restore on my desktop thanks to a virus.
    Today I started working on something and when I tried using the Rotate tool, it was not working (I go that error window saying it wasn't enabled). I checked the OpenGL settings to see it was enabled. Confused, I restarted Photoshop and tried again with no luck.
    This turned into a search around the internet to see just what is going on, but the only thing I could find was suggesting updating drivers for my graphics card and Adobe, which I have tried with no success. I have found out that some people were having the same trouble as me, but what makes my case odd is that it was working fine before the factory restore.
    Any help would be great.

    Because of ATI's plethora of version information I'm not really sure what Catalyst release your 8.960.11.1000 driver comes from, but I do know that Catalyst 12.4 has some problems working with later versions of Photoshop.  Perhaps Photoshop CS4 isn't too happy with it either.
    The most recent Catalyst release that was known to be good with Photoshop was 12.2 (though it shows up as 12.3 in the status display).  It can be found here:

    Downgrading drivers is a bit more tricky than upgrading them - you have to fully remove the current ones first, then install the older set.

  • Plugin "Enabled" but Not Accessible

    I've just installed a few plugins and I'm having a heck of a time getting one of the plugins to actually show up when using the "plugins extra" submenu.
    The plugin I'm talking about is the Porturature plugin from Imagenomic.  My plugin manager indicates that the plugin is enabled, I simply can't see it show up when I try and actually use it.  Also note (see attached screenshot) that when the Porturature plugin is highlighted, the "remove" button is greyed out; this does not happen with the other two plugins are highlighted.
    I'm using an iMac 3.06Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM.  I'm using the latest version of LR (2.5) all running under OS 10.5.8
    This is pretty frustrating; I know this isn't rocket science, so it must be something fundamentally easy that I'm overlooking.  Any help much appreciated.

    The Plugin is meant to be used, as Sean's URL shows, as an "edit in."  But it doesn't show up in that menu either.  If it shows in the "edit in" menu then it will show in the plugin extras.
    There is a SEPARATE plugin that works ONLY in export mode (less features, intended mostly for batch pre-set processing).  I have that plugin installed and that one DOES work correctly, i.e., when you use the "export as preset" option.
    This is the first plugin I've tried to install and use, so as a "control" I installed another plugin (export to flickr) and sure enough, that one shows up in the "plugin extras" just as it should.
    In trolling around for an answer last night I came across someone else (in Italy) that has my exact problem; his screen shot looked exactly like mine:  the plugin appears to be enabled with the "remove" button greyed out. So, I'm confident this isn't some unique problem.
    I'm just waiting for an answer now.  I also have a "trouble ticket" in with the software maker.  But I'd sure like someone here to beat them to the punch.

  • Hardware virtualization enabled but not working in HP Pavilion p6

    I've got an HP Pavilion p6 series (Model no. p6-2003es), with an up-to-date v7.15 BIOS, and I'm unable to use hardware virtualization.
    I've enabled Virtualization in the BIOS under System Security, pressed F10 and saved the changes as per the usual procedure when modifying BIOS settings. However, when trying to run virtualization software (Virtualbox in this case), I get a warning notice stating that processor supports virtualization, but it's not enabled.
    This seems to be the case: the feature is supported, but the BIOS does not seem to change the setting and enable it. I've tested it under 2 different OSs, with the same result:
    Under the original Windows 7 64-bit, I've ran the Microsoft HAV Detection Tool, which tells me that hardware virtualization is not enabled.
    Under Ubuntu 12.04, I've ran the rdmsr tool, which allowed me to read the AMD MSR (Model Specific Register) bits concerned with virtualization, and confirmed that they are not enabled.
    I suspect that this is a BIOS issue (i.e. it's not setting the bits required to enable virtualization), but after a search on the forums it strikes me that no one has reported it yet, so any help, comments or workaround for this issue will be really welcome.

    VT, VTx, VTd, Hyper-v, virtualization
    HP internal has indicated the virtualization is not supported consumer level PC.  It's up to the individual to make it work, if it is possible,  with perhaps the volunteers on this forum as HP has no official presence on this forum.

  • Query Planning enabled - but not able to enter the data

    Created a query which is planning enabled (Check box ticked on Planning Tab in query designer - Start query in change mode checked).
    After execution of the query, if I try to input some plan data, the query is in display mode only. I am not able to input any data.
    Can you please tell me where is going wrong.

    First of all an input enabled query can only be created on aggregation level.
    As far as your issue is concerned, it seems that your query might not be having
    the required restrictions for the characteristics or are not drilled down.
    Please note that characterictics defined in rows are automatically restricted to a single value , but the same is not the case with the 'Free Characteristic' in the query.
    Please check the restrictions you have made in your query.

  • Flash wont work, have current edition,says not enabled but not in file, keep getting update adobe when trying to play video,how do you enable when not on menu?

    I have over and over tried to accommodate the update flash message that pops up when trying to view videos, the closest I have gotten is enable in chrome but at that repository adobe isnt there, dont know what to do next, have tried many work throughs and none work, does any body have something? Dell latitude 500 been hotrodded, for speed, linux OS xbuntu 12.04 chrome current all out to date, going crazy have run clam av 0 comeback cant find adobe in any fashion only file in manager or setting but no help there, any ideas?

    iDvd is not a general burn utility. However, there's a very good chance (whatever that file is) that Toast will burn it to Dvd-R. And if not (which is unlikely) then do as suggested already and use Mpegstream Clip. It's 100% free! However Mpeg 2 playback component may run you a few bucks (if needed).
    Or the alternative is to invest hundreds of dollars in Apple software and use apps like FCP and DVDSP (or FCS) along with QT Pro. Nine times out of ten this combination tends to work well ... but it ain't cheap (not to mention a rather steep learning curve).

  • Drive plays DVDs but not commercial CDs

    MBP 15" from ~2008. Today, my wife's MBP won't play any commercial CD's we've tried but it does play a home-made DVD video our son made for a school project. Does it use different lenses for reading CD v DVD & could the CD lens be dirty/etc? Or is it a sign of impending failure/death of the drive? How do cleaning discs work & are they safe?

  • Voice call enabled but not able to register with BB Services

    One of my friend gifted me Blackberry verizon 9630. I subscribed vodafone bb services Rs.599 plan. Vodafone said BB services activated on 20th May 2011. From that date i tried to configure the same, But in vain. The following methods i tried, Host routing table ->Register->registration message sent->then i pulled out the battery and SIM card and again i repeated. Till date i did it nearly 100 times. subsequently i spoke to vodafone chennai. No proper response from them. I can make a call and receive . Also i can send and receive SMS. But Data Services i can't .
    Please give me your suggestion to rectify my device.

    I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
    KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
    2) Delete and Resend Service Books
    KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
    KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
    3) Batt Pull Reboot
    Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
    Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you will need to talk to Vodafone again...unfortunately, bringing a BB onto a carrier network that does not natively support it can be tricky indeed.
