FUJI F10 works with iPOD with color display

I purchased a 30GB color iPOD, camera connector, and a FUJI F10 camera and successfully transferred from camera to iPOD and iPOD to iPhoto.
It isn't listed as supported, so I wanted to pass this info along.

Welcome to Apple Discussions!
It may work, but it won't come with the appropriate adapters to fit your iPod right.
The best bet is the iPod Universal Dock

According to the local Apple Store here, the Color iPod dock (M9868G/A) will work with the 5G iPod but is a "loose fit" as far as the seating in the well goes.

  • Imac [plus 2nd display - can you work with one display rotated 90 degrees?

I'm thinking of getting a Dell Ultrasharp 24" monitor to use as a 2nd screen from my iMac 20". The Dell screen seems to rotate 90 degrees so you can view it landscape or portrait. If you're working with 2 displays functioning as one giant desktop, can you rotate the 2nd display 90 degrees, and still use the 2 monitors as a giant desktop?
Any advice much appreciated - thank you!

Leopard has a built-in feature for rotating the display. It's in System Preferences Displays pane. You can select to rotate the image 90, 180, or 270 degrees. It even works for my massive 21-inch CRT that I use with my iMac as the extended desktop, although it would be very difficult to physically use that monitor in portrait orientation.
So what you are describing should work.

  • Ipod w/color display not recognized by Mac

I cannot get my Mac to recognize a new ipod w/color display, which has previously only been formatted to a PC.
I used to have my ipod w/color display linked to my Mac, but, then it was stolen. My friend, who had the same exact ipod, gave me hers, which is the one I am now attempting to use on my Mac. She had it linked to an out-of-date version of itunes on her PC. I am aware this could be the issue.
However, on top of this, the new ipod has some battery issues. I have not been able to get my computer or charger to recognize it; when I plug it in to either it does nothing. It only works when attached to ihome or a car charger. I took the ipod to my local Genius Bar, who was able to get it to come to life when attached to their Mac. Ultimately, they restored it but told me that the battery was corrupted (they said that it was fully charged but the battery was still reading itself as dead, thus not turning on).
Why can I not get my Mac to recognize it? If I have it connected to my Mac, shouldn't it come to life when I plug it in? If I can't get it to come to life, how can I update it? Will a new battery fix any of this???

    Hi SultanAshraf,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like there is an issue with your iPod shuffle being recognized by iTunes on your Mac. Try the suggestions in the in the troubleshooting assistant below, they will resolve most issues like the one you described.

  • Problems with iPod w/ color display (40gb)

I've had my 40gb color display iPod for just over two years. For the last month it has been freezing on me while I'm listening to a song. It usually seems to happen when I change songs quickly for some reason. Once it freezes it usually won't start up again by reset but will once I plug it into my computer. I have already reinstalled the software and reloaded all of the songs (losing all of my playlist info as I use manual sync and used Senuti to copy my iPod library to an external drive). I also repaired the disk using Apple Disk Utility and also rebuilt the library using DiskWarrior. After all of the this I thought I had fixed the problem but it still happens on occasion. At this point I was convinced that I had HD problems, but puttin the iPod in diagnostic mode I ran most of the tests and they came out okay. How can I ascertain that my HD is really okay? Do I need to erase the disk completely and start over from there? How exactly do I do this?
    Thanks for the help.

  • Problems with color display

I'm having a problem with managing color display from Aperture - I have a similar problem with Lightroom so I suspect there is something messed up somewhere that I don't understand.
I've been processing RAW files from Canon 400D. I color adjust in Aperture and then export as JPEG. the resulting files had a red/orange cast when viewed in Preview. Interestingly the same red/orange cast appears when I switch Aperture in full-screen mode! If I import the JPEGs into iPhoto they have have the cast - however the cast disappears (and the color goes back to what I expect) when I go into Edit mode in iPhoto. It looks like JPEGs from Aperture has sRGB profiles assigned. Exporting as TIFF doesn't help.
A similar things happens from Lightroom, ie the colours look right in LR, but exported JPEGs get the same red-orange cast when viewed in Preview whether I assign sRGB or AdobeRGB.
Photoshop and Graphic Convertor appear to display the images correctly.
It seems to me that the FInder, Preview and the full screen mode in Aperture may not be using color profiles accurately?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Update:
    I've checked this:
-Aux (Dock-Connector) of the iPod has no damage, no problems playing music in the car!
-Same Problem now with iPhone. It gets charged and so, but if I want to listen to music it is very quiet, music is playing for half a second or so, after that stopped, than goes on playing for a second or so. Cracking sounds often while music is stopped.
So the Dock is broken, I guess.
Any possibility to restart/resert or so by my own or try to get it fixed by apple?
    Greetz!

  • Macbook pro retina quit working with external displays

Just got a new external display, and can't get it to work with my MBP. I tried it via the mini display port and also via the HDMI connection. Then I tried to use my flatscreen tv just to test things out via HDMI and now that doesn't work either, I've done that quite a bit in the past. The only thing thats changed is I updated to Yosemite. I even tried different cables.
    Thoughts?
    Txs,
    Jeff

When I unplug the cable from the mac, the monitor does display this message:
    "No Display Port Cable"
So it does seem like the display knows that its connected to a mac, just nothing shows up. Don't get anything in System Prefs > Displays either.

  • Macbook stopped working with certain display

My macbook randomly stopped recognizing with my external display (Niko 19"). The computer does not see the monitor or the monitor does not see the computer even when i tell it to detect displays. The weird part is that it still works with all other displays. My monitor also works with all other laptops I have tried with it (PC, macbooks, and macbook pros). I have tried with different cables/dvi-mini dvi adapters and same situation with all. When it stopped working was when i had my laptop unhooked for a weekend (traveling) the monitor was not touched while i was away which leads me to think software on my laptop. However it would not make sense for it to be a driver because it just stopped working with one certain monitor and not all. Does anybody have any idea what it could be?
    Carson

It's not impossible that corruption in the driver would be confined to one display and not affect others. You could try throwing away the related plist files. In /Library/Preferences there should be a file com.apple.windowserver.plist that can be trashed. Also, for your home account in /Users/accountname/Library/Preferences/ByHost should be com.apple.windowserver.xxxxxxxx.plist where xxxxxx is a string of letters and numbers and accountname is the name on the primary account. Throw that file away, too. Then restart.
When OS X restarts and finds those files missing from their expected location, it will generate fresh copies with factory default values. Hopefully that will clear up the issue with the Niko monitor not being properly recognized.

  • Help with working with color and profiles

Like many others, I suspect, I am having trouble managing the colors on my iMac to match the prints I get. I have a few questions, but first, some background:
    1. Screen calibrated with Huey Pantone. Calibration was done with monitor brightness all the way to lowest. I don't use Shades or anything else. I have my Display Profile set to this profile. I'd be happy to post my .icc profile if I knew how. I can email it to anyone who can help here.
    2. I have been sending my prints to Costco with the option of turning OFF their Auto Correct. To try to get things to match, I downloaded Costco's printer profiles from http://www.drycreekphoto.com/icc/Profiles/Minnesota_profiles.htm#MN (Eden Prairie, Glossy and Lustre paper profiles).
    3. I shoot photos with a Canon XTi with color space set to sRGB. I am using iPhoto 08.
    So here are my questions:
    1. I loaded the Costco printer profile icc files into /Library/ColorSync/Profiles/Displays. When I open ColorSync, I see them under Profiles/Displays. However, in ColorSync/Devices/Displays/iMac, when I go to change the profile, I navigate to these files but the computer just beeps and won't take them. I thought all icc files could be used by monitors and printers - can these Costco iccs only be used for printers (I noticed the Costco files are 4MB, the other display iccs are 4KB)?
    2. How does iPhoto handle color spaces? I import my photos off my CF card. Under iPhoto / Prefs / Advanced, I have both Copy Items and Embed ColorSync Profiles checked. Which color profile is it embedding? The one from the camera (some generic sRGB) or the one my display is using (the Huey)?
    3. As a test, I exported my photo as a full size TIFF (a 3.3MB jpeg became a 28MB tiff). I opened the TIFF in Preview. Preview / Tools / Assign Profile came up as "Camera RGB Profile" (so I think this answers question 2 but I'm not sure). While in Preview, if I now change the Display Profile (from Huey to Adobe RGB), the whole screen changes, including the photo I'm looking at in Preview - shouldn't Preview hold the photo the same since it's using a different color profile?
    4. I set the Display Profile back to Huey. In Preview, I go back to my photo and under Tools / Assign Profile I assign the profile my Huey profile (instead of Camera RGB). I save this as a jpeg and reimport into iPhoto. When I compare these two photos side by side in iPhoto, they look indistinguishable. Why, if on the original import iPhoto embedded the Camera RGB profile into the photo and I make a copy assigning the Huey profile do they look identical? There's no reason to assume that the Camera RGB and Huey profiles are the same! Or is it some trick where the Display Profile is overriding everything?
    5. Lastly, I reopened the original TIFF export in Preview and assigned it the Costco profile (happened to use the glossy one). Lo and behold, what appears on the screen is a much closer version to what I got back as a print. Finally, as one last tweak, I changed my Display Profile from Huey to Adobe RGB and the picture I saw in Preview was closer still to what I got back from Costco. I changed the Display back to Huey, kept the Costco profile assigned and saved my TIFF back to a JPEG. I imported into iPhoto and compared - it looks much closer to my Costco print.
So I'm utterly confused. How do professionals manage their color workflow? Is my Huey calibration whacky? Why, if I assign a color profile to something in Preview, does it really depend on what Display Profile I have set (I thought profiles managed color, but it looks like it's relative).
I apologize for the rather long post, and very much appreciate any help and suggestions here!
    Thanks!

The contractual requirements between the vendor and your company may be the key. The contract may or may not discuss whether the vendor's permission to modify the material includes an obligation to make the documents usable. "Usable" may be construed to mean providing original files. If the vendor is required to provide originals, they may or may not be required to provide them in a common format, like MS Word, rather than the proprietary FrameMaker format they use. Their providing a PDF may completely satisfy their obligation; your lawyers may be helpful here.

I did ask them for the source file but they haven't been forthcoming with that. I may look into the evaluation copy of FM anyway but considering the price ($868 USD through our catalogue supplier) I doubt I would be able to get a licensed copy once the evaluation runs out. I do appreciate the suggestion though. Thank you. Brian

  • How to make Macbook work with closed display?

I need to make MacBook to be closed (display) most of the time and work with external monitor, keyboard and mouse (actually trackball as I have been hating any type of mice since 1998 and not using it even at work).
Now I do not like mediocre resolution of small MacBook display and I prefer my 20 inch wide monitor. Also the keyboard is rather for quick work in small areas like restroom rather than comfortable work on big desk (I hate notebook keyboards either as they make me feel claustrophobic and crunching my fingers).
Considering recent buzz on Mac Mini not living for too long into future I would love to find alternative solution (meaning I do not want computer with display and keyboard in one and I do not have needs of spending few thousand of dollars for big metal case good for feeding and breeding birds I have ergonomics demands, but not higg performnce processing needs.
So can you tell me how I make Apple notebook being closed (and perhaps squashed by monitor stand) behave like a CPU box?
    Thanks,
    Maciek

Thnaks, but I am not interested in bluethooth/wireless solution. That minimum of cable to reach CPU does not bother me and I do not buy big monitor to work on my computer from adjacent room. I just need space for more windows and I think Apple did great job having USB Hub on keyboard that allows stringing mouse and keayoboard with one cable to CPU.
Also I haven't heard of wireless KVM and I use such solution. This is not my only computer as I run home network and two of them in my room are supposed to share keyboard, mouse and monitor. So far I was successful to run this setup, but I need inexpensive plain CPU from Apple to be able to find comfortable solution to work.
Well I could drop the other computer if Apple managed to provide everything that I need (how about Safari properly working with Citrix client and Remote Desktop to Windows as I do not want Firefox on Apple computer? Only Firefox fixes the problems with this software).

  • Does photoshop elements work with air display from avatron?

I want to use photoshop elements with air display from avatron.  Its necessary use pressure sensitive.

Photoshop Elements only specifically works with touchscreens when it comes to gestures (moving your finger(s) in a specific motion to get a special behavior). Otherwise, the touch screen should act exactly like a mouse. My guess here is that this is simply a question of precision. If you try to "click" and drag a corner of the crop interface, does the crop rectangle move or rotate instead of change size?

  • Screensaver/ not working with 2 displays (Boxee, XBMC)?

    Hi there, i've got following setup;
    2011 iMac 27" at 2560x1440 (Display 1)
Sony 42" LCD connected via MiniDV to HDMI at 1920x1080 (Display 2)
Boxee mediaplayer software for OSX (http://www.boxee.tv/make), however the same issues apears with XMBC software (hereafter Mediaplayer)
    Configuration:
    - Mediaplayer has been configurated to use Display 2 only
    - OSX Screensaver is set to kick in within 5 minutes on Main Screen Only (=Display 1)
    - Display sleep is set to kick in at 20 minutes
    Issue description:
    - Mediaplayer works perfectly, plays movies on Display 2
    - However the screensaver does not kick in on Display 1 while Mediaplayer is active, even not after some hours, same for Display sleep
    - FYI there are no overlapping items or windows from Display 1 to 2 and vice-versa.
    Questions:
Does anybody have a clue what could be wrong here?
How can i blank (or at best turn off) Display 1 while watching a movie on Display 2 either by using standard OSX settings or by some utility?
    Thanks

Have had same issues trying to edit HD video with Mac Pro system using ATI Radeon 4870 HD, with latest snow Leopard sw rev. SOMETIMES the card works fine- displaying Final Cut Pro Browser video on my 30" Apple cinema display coming out from the multi pin output of the 4870, and a Sony 46" Bravia for client review, via the mini DVI output, using an Apple purchased Moshi, mini DVI to HDMI converter. An earlier posting suggested that the sequence of booting up was the root cause, but I'm not sure about that. Apple FCP support pointed to plist corruption, which also seemed to resolve the problem for awhile, but again, it resurfaced. Now Apple claim that they will not certify that it will provide HD video out from that configuration (mini DVI to HDMI), which is strange since it works, but not consistently. A friend who has the same card, suggested root cause may be that Quartz Extreme support under my System Profiler / Hardware / ATI Radeon 4870HD is missing! Another person reported that when he upgraded recent SW, it disabled Quartz Extreme- not sure whether this is root cause yet or not. Still not resolved. Suggestions welcome.

  • Transitions when working with color

I've noticed that if I have to set in and out points on things such as clips where I want to maintain motion or maybe where I have 3 layers and want to combine into a single effect clip to send to color or motion, when bringing it back in I can't do transitions.
As an example: I have a clip with 3 layers to it. I click on it, set in and out points and export to a QT file. I then import the QT file and replace my original 3 layers with the single clip. All is good, except that if I want to add my transition back in between the new clip and the clips on either side of it, I can't.
Wondering how you guys deal with such situations... Color seems to force you to do this quite a bit, but bringing things back in are not so easy to work with.
    Thanks,
    glenn

    Howard,
    Welcome to the forum.
Along with Jon-M-Spear's suggestion (the one that I use most often too), many Effects can be Keyframed, so that they change over time. However, this does take some time, and can involve a lot of fiddling.
If you have a long Clip, and know that you will be adding the same set of Effects, but just with different attributes, you can do one of two things, and both rely on Jon-M's method:
You can create an Effect Preset, and apply that to all of your Cut, let's call them "sub-Clips," even though that term has other meanings, so be careful when using it. Then apply that Preset to all of those sub-Clips. Then, tweak each application of the Preset, as is needed for the individual sub-Clip.
In a similar fashion, you can apply all necessary Effects to the first of your sub-Clips, tweak for it, as is necessary, then Rt-Click on it, chosing Copy. Now, Select all of the rest of the sub-Clips, to which you wish to apply that set of Effects, Rt-Click on them, choosing Paste Attributes, and then tweak, as needed.
A variation on the above would be to apply the Effects to the origianal Clip, and THEN make the Cuts. Go back and tweak each individual sub-Clip.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
