Fuji F30 camera won't mount OS 10.3.9 2 different Macs via USB no connect

I have a Fuji F30 digital camera - also my daughter's Fuji F11 will not mount/connect through USB on either of my 2 Macs running OS X 10.39 - A Dual 1Ghz G4 and a 867 Mgz G4 Powerbook.
My daughter's Fuji F11 connects fine on her eMac with OS X 10.3.4.
I even installed the Fuji Finepix software on my dual gig to see if that would help - no good. I was about to update the eMac to 10.3.9 I'm glad I didn't.
To check it wased the cable or camera, I installed the Fuji USB drivers etc. on my Windows 98 machine and the Fuji F30 connected, copied fine and the card wasn't corrupted.
Is there a fix for this?
Is this a problem in 10.4?
Thanks, Phillip
===
This is probably a different matter:
Also I have a Zio Caramate card reader for the xD cards. I can mount and copy to my Macs running OS 10.3.9 but after unmounting and removing xD card, card is corrupted and needs to be reformated so all images are lost from card.
Do you think this is a card reader problem or could it be the same 10.3.9 USB thing?

Fuji F30 just came to the market. The correct driver for that camera may be missing in 10.3.9. which is probably older than the F30. In case you have Adobe Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, you could download the latest update and probably have the F30 supported in that way (?). The same thing could help with reading the card correctly. This is my experience with other digital cameras.

  • Digital Camera Won't Mount

Hello, I have a Canon Powershot SD630 digital camera. Whenever I connect my camera to my computer via USB, iPhoto opens up normally and I can download the pictures to my computer fine. Although the camera will not mount on my desktop in order to see the contents of the SD memory card. Can anybody help me?

Another option would be to invest in an inexpensive card reader. If you put your camera's card into the reader, iPhoto will still open, but the card will mount on your desktop, too. I also use a Canon camera, so I know this works. HTH.

  • Correction to Camera won't mount

CORRECTION TO MY PREVIOUS POST! Since installing Snow Leopard, none of my digital cameras (Nikon & HP) will NOT mount on the desktop when I attach them. I have tried to use Nikon and HP software to search for devices but nothing shows up. Need to fix before the Holidays!

  • My Apple TV stalled during an update and now just shows an image of it being plugged into a USB. It won't complete the update and does nothing when I plug it into my Mac via USB.

2 Apple TVs. The first won't reboot, it stalled during an update and now shows a picture of a UBS plug. Ive tried to plug into my computer, nothing happens. At a standtill.
The second Apple TV works but only if I send something via Airplay. The remote no longer has any affect. The light on the front of the Apple TV blinks when I push a buttom on the remote but nothing happens.
Any Ideas? I am starting to think I need to replace them. Thanks.

Ok, with itunes open on the pc, plug one end of the usb cord into the computer, but not connected to the ipad.
now, press the power button on the ipad until it turns off.
Then, press and hold the home button on the ipad at the same you plug the usb cord into the ipad. DON'T LET GO OF THE HOME BUTTON.
Keep holding the home button until you see the recovery mode message pop on the itunes window.
When that happens, you should now be able to restore.

  • IPad won't stay connected to Mac via USB

I was attempting to install the latest update to my iPad2 via the USB cable connected to my 2013 MacBook Pro Retina with the latest Mavericks and iTunes update installed. I left the download and install to complete overnight as it was taking a long time. When I checked it in the morning, my iPad was in recovery mode. I was supposed to reset the iPad back to factory specs. It would not recognize my last backup at all although it was on my Mac. I was finally able to get the iPad back to its original factory software. I then tried to update to that backup. Somewhere along the line during that effort, the iPad went back into recovery mode again.
Since that time whenever I plug in the iPad using the usb connector to the Mac, the connection begins to fluctuate rapidly on and off. It does not maintain a connection for even a whole second! I then tried connected the iPad using a different USB cable and after that a different USB port. Finally I even tried it using a hub as a go-be-tween. None of these options worked. I then tried connecting the iPad to a power outlet to charge to see if there was a problem there. It connected to power just fine and charged the  iPad.
At this point I'm stymied and don't know what else I can or should try. Any help would be appreciated.

I can't imagine that this would help but have you tried resetting the iPad and then try recovery mode again? It may not help, but it can't hurt anything at this point. Hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time until the Apple logo appear on the screen. After it restarts, try to restore again.
If that fails, do you have another computer that you could use to try to restore on?

  • SD Card Won't Mount But Works In Camera

I have an SD card that just won't mount, I have tried it in two macs running 10.6 and two PC's running XP and with two different card readers. I am trying to recover some images on the card, it has been formatted in the camera & then had two photos taken which were written to it. The odd thing is that if I put the card into a different camera it works, you can see the two photos taken after formatting. Any ideas about how to mount the card so as to run some recovery software?

I have been looking for a fix to the same problem for weeks. I have tracked it to an OS conflict on the MAC.
I have access to several iMACs and MACbook Pros. All the Laptops can read the SD cards. In fact all the iMACs at my school can read the card through my card reader. When I bring the card reader and the SD cards home to my iMAC running 10.6.4 it wont read the card. I also tried the card reader on MACbook Pro running 10.6.5. It does not work.
It can not be the card reader because it works on other MAC running older versions of OS X.
It must be a conflict between the newest versions of OS X and my older card reader.
Does anyone know of a good card reader that is working with 10.6.5 and SD Cards?
    Additional information:
I use the SD cards in Canon video cameras and a Kodak Zi8. All are HD video files.

  • IPod won't mount on new Mac Pro

I just got a new Mac Pro that came with Snow Leopard. After getting everything setup I plugged in my iPod shuffle and it won't mount when plugged into either of the 2 front USB ports or any of the 3 back USB ports. When I plug it into the USB port on the keyboard it mounts and I can sync it through iTunes. When plugged into the front two ports the green charging light comes on, but it doesn't mount. The back 3 ports just cause the iPod to blink the green charging light quickly, it isn't a solid green.
I don't know if this is a Snow Leopard problem or the Mac Pro. The iPod was working perfectly with my G5 running Leopard.
    Any ideas?
    david.

I just don't get computers sometimes (even after being a software developer for over 25 years).
I had restarted the computer multiple times while installing other software but the iPod would not mount.
I took your suggestion to try another USB device and the only other device I had was a Canon scanner. I installed the drivers which required another restart. And the scanner worked and now the iPod works on all of the USB ports. It is mounted in iTunes and I can sync it on any port.
I checked the console logs files and didn't find anything unusual before it didn't work and nothing different now that the iPod mounts.
    David.

  • External drive won't mount after plugging in iPhone - MacBook 13'' (2,1)

    Hi Support Crew...
    I have a 13" MacBook(2,1) running OS X 10.6.2. This is a 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo machine w/ 4 GB RAM & 320 GB hard drive.
Today, I had the Iomega drive plugged in via USB, along with my soundcard (MOTU 828mk2) plugged in via FW. This is a very normal setup for me which has been bug free since I bought this computer over 2 years ago. When I plugged in my iPhone 3G via USB I got an error message which comes up when you incorrectly remove a device. This was strange because I didn't unplug anything, I only plugged in the iPhone. The iPhone was playing music when I plugged it in and I had to unplug and plug is back in to get iTunes to recognize it.
Ever since this happened, my Iomega external drive won't mount. I am able to access it via Disk Utility (and ran the Verify Disk/Repair Disk - everything is "ok"), however I can't access the data on the drive. I really really need the data but of course can't access it to backup.

The fact that I got the "Improperly removed device" error when I plugged in the iPhone makes me think something weird is up and it's not actually the external drive. There is clicking/whining/noise, the drives powers up fine and is recognized by the system but the mount point is now "not mounted".
Does anyone have any idea how to fix? If you live in SF, I will buy you a beer.

  • SSD won't mount - SATA compatibility issue

I have  iMac 1.9 Ghz G5 (iSight) and I want to change my hard drive with SSD.
I was kind of in a hurry, so I did not read enough I bought a Adata 2.5"SATA 6Gb/s SSD.
After installing it in to my iMac it won't mount. (I'm booting the Apple Mac OS X Install DVD from external hard disk (CD/DVD not working). I know I have to format the SSD before installing the OS, but if I can not do this in Diskutility because it is not visible)
    My  questions are:
Is it possible that this SSD is not compatible with my computer?
There is no information for this particular model if it is compatible with the SATA 1.5 Gb/s port on the iMac G5.
    If it actually is incompatible...
What kind of SSD (brand/model/SATA/speed) is the best to use in this upgrade situation?
I'd rather not have to buy a new high performance SSD and just not get the full benefit from it, so I'm looking for an ssd that's both faster than a mechanical drive, but also that isn't all that expensive.

  • IPod won't mount in iTunes

    Hello there,
I have a 20gb iPod that's nearly 3 years old & my PC is running Windows XP Professional with SP2. And I've got the latest version of iTunes (7.4.3).
Recently my iPod started behaving strangely, skipping during songs sometimes, and sometimes hanging for several seconds whilst playing.
Anyway, my big problem now is that the iPod won't mount in iTunes & iTunes hangs for ages when the iPod is connected.
The iPod comes up in Windows Explorer as a Removeable Drive called "Apple iPod". This leads me to believe that I may have accidentally put it into disc mode?
All the troubleshooting advice I've read suggests that if I can only get iTunes to recognise it, then iTunes should then automatically load the required software on to the iPod & everything will be hunky dory. That sounds all very well & good but iTunes is not currently seeing the iPod so it's not doing that.
As I've said, the iPod comes up in Windows Explorer, but if I do anything with it, even just right-clicking on it for example, Windows Explorer hangs as well.
    Grrrrrrrr!!
I know it is not a cable problem or a PC problem as I have tried several different cables & 3 different PCs, all with the same results.
    Please help!

I'm having a similar problem with my sons 3 generation Ipod Nano.
When I plug in my sons Ipod into my Apple G5 running OS X Version 10.4.11 and Apple Itunes 9.0.2... I too can't mount the Ipod on to Itunes.
What I found is that my son plugged his Ipod into a Windows laptop and reformatted his Ipod by accident for MS Windows... now my son is only 10 and didn't know what he was doing and would admit he did it.
How I found out was when I plugged in the two Ipods and hit Get Info
His Ipod Nano had: FORMAT: MS-DOS File System (FAT32)
and my Ipod Nano had: FORMAT: Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
I asked him and he admitted that... that's what he did... this is after 5 hours of trying to mount his Ipod.
Now here's the problem: His music and my music is all in the same account on the same computer (That being my G5)
My G5 running the most recent version of Itunes 9.0.2 recognizes all of our other Ipods except his which just shows up on the desktop of my computer... BUT DOES NOT DOW UP IN ITUNES UNDER DEVICES like all the other Ipods.
What I think I need to do is re format his Ipod Nano for Mac... Only problem is Itunes 9.0.2 doesn't allow that to happen.
Can someone point me in the right direction?
    Thanks

  • IMac (suddenly) won't mount anything

Hi. My iMac G3 has suddenly stopped recognizing external devices. It won't mount my iPod or Lacie external hard disk via Firewire or my Zip drive via USB. All the devices turn on, start spinning, etc. when plugged in, but the iMac doesn't know that they are there. My last software update was last month and this problem started in the last couple days.
The only thing I can think of is that the iMac was accidentally unplugged while running the other day. No external devices were mounted at the time. The machine started right back up when I replugged it, which was a great relief because when this happened twice before it was hours before I could turn it back on. (the plug at the back of this iMac falls out too easily imho)
I already tried repairing my disk permissions, but that did not help.
I'd sure appreciate any help. Thanks.

Well, good grief, nevermind. I got up this morning and—viola—the problem had fixed itself.

  • USB connected Drobo 5D won't mount on Time Capsule

    Hi,
I recently purchased a Drobo 5D and, after setting it up plugged directly into my Macbook Pro via USB, plugged it into my Time Capsule (3rd Gen, firmware 7.6.4) via USB.
It showed up correctly in Airport Utility and I was able to connect to it easily via Finder. It was initially set up with 2x WD Red 3TB HDDs.
However, after a few days of successful usage, I plugged the Drobo directly into my mac for some faster data transfer. At this stage, I also updated the Drobo firmware from 3.0.9 to 3.0.10, and added a 3rd HDD (WD Green 2TB) to an empty bay. After shutting down the Drobo, I plugged it back in to the TC. From this point on, I have been unable to get the Drobo to show up in Finder or in Airport Utility. It continues to mount corretly when plugged directly into my Mac.
    Things I have tried:
Downgrade Drobo firmware to 3.0.9 and 3.0.8 and back up again.
Downgrade TC firmware to 7.6.3 and 7.6.0 and back up again.
Remove the 3rd hard drive from the Drobo.
Factory Reset of Drobo, including reformatting of the hard drives (both via Drobo Dashboard and via Disk Utility).
Restore Default Settings of TC.  (I have *not* wiped the TC hard drive).
Plugged the Drobo in via a powered USB hub. (other self powered 2.5" usb drives mounted correctly through the hub).
    Used a different USB cable.
I've contacted Drobo support, they've looked at my log files and think there's nothing wrong with the Drobo.
Other disks mount correctly when plugged in to the TC via USB. The Drobo acts like it's not plugged in to anything and goes to sleep after a few minutes. The TC just doesn't see it there at all.
Any ideas on how to get the TC to see the Drobo again??

Bugger. I'm sure I've read about other people using it in this manner, albeit with other issues - at least their disks were showing up! Maybe they just got ultra lucky.
Do the airport extremes have the same problem? Again, I know I've read about people using them successfully... but if it's touch and go maybe I'll hunt down another router.
Interestingly, right before it stopped working I did do some speet test comparisons (using Blackmagic Disk Speed Test),

Can't understand why that's faster than directly into my Macbook (which is too old for USB3, sadly).

  • My USB CF Card reader is not mounting on my 2.5 GHZ Intel Core i5 iMac anymore. It was last week and worked fine to get pictures from my camera. Now it won't mount. I have tried another card reader and the same problem exists. Also tried different cards..

    Hi
My USB CF (Compact Flash) Card reader is not mounting on my 2.5 GHZ Intel Core i5 iMac anymore.
Last week it worked fine to get pictures from my camera but now it won't mount at all.
I ejected it in the correct way rather than just disconnecting it but now i cannot get it to remount!
I cannot even see it in the disk utility or system profiler.
I have tried another card reader (a brand new one bought today) and the same problem exists. I've also tried different cards to see if that made a difference and they still arent being picked up on the Mac.
I have done all the usual things like rebooting, unplugging all other USB devices and then trying but nothing has worked.
I'm a photographer and I'm at my wits end here. I know the cards are fine as i have been using them without issue and they are also new.
Note: If I plug the camera in directly to the Mac, the Mac picks it up just fine as it always has done. Its just the card readers that it wont pick up anymore.
If anyone has any ideas at all other than the following (my so called friends advice) you'd earn my undting love:
    Buy a PC
Use the camera (Thats why i bought the reader in the first place - importing RAW files from the camera is SLOW!)
Replace your CF cards (I have three 8GB cards two of which i had never used til today and they dont work either!)
Buy a new card reader (this is the 5th one in two days - none work on the Mac)
    Many thanks in advance!
    LIsa

OK, restart in Safe Mode, this will clear some caches. It's possible one or more is corrupt. To restart in Safe Mode when you hear the start up tone hold down the Shift Key until you see a progress bar. Let it fully boot then restart normally and test.
Also I am assuming you have checked Finder - Preferences  - General and see what boxes are checked in "Show these items on desktop." You can also mount an item in Disk Utility, simply highlight it and then look in the File menu for Mount.....

  • Can't install Snow Leopard on MacBook Pro - DVD won't mount

I am unable to install Snow Leopard on my MacBook Pro as the DVD won't mount.  This is an early 2008 vintage MacBook Pro, intel core duo...
I'm using a OS X Snow Leopard install DVD (family licensed).  This DVD has been used to install 3 other Macs in my house without a problem (about a year ago), but cannot be used to upgrade my MBP.  Actually, this disk mounted on the MBP exactly once - inserted with system up, the disk mounted.  Upon running the installed (a year ago), the computer restarted but hung in boot.  After getting the disk ejected and the computer restarted, the disk would never mount again.  I've defered upgrade for a year but at this point need to upgrade my MBP at least to Snow Leopard and possibly Lion.
The problem doesn't seem to be with the DVD, since it continues to mount fine in other computers, and in fact a borrowed Snow Leopard DVD also will not mount on the MBP.
BUT ... the problem also does not seem to be with the optical drive in my computer, as it can read & mount the install/restore disks that came with the computer as well as other CDs and DVD ROMs.  Only the Snow Leopard install DVDs fail to mount.
I've also tried mounting the 10.6 install DVD on my Mac Pro desktop, making it available over the network (ethernet) with DVD/CD sharing.  I can mount the remote disk from my MBP that way, but when I launch the installer, the application launches (its own menus are displayed, I can quit from menu, for example) but does nothing -- no windows open, nothing.
I've also tried "Remote Install" (again with the DVD made available with the Remote Install MacOS X application on my desktop), but when I boot the MBP with option held down, the remote disk is not available as a startup disk.
Zapping the PRAM did not help.
Am off to the store to get an optical drive cleaning kit and a blank DVD big enough to burn a new disk image, but would appreciate any further ideas at this point....

Solution that worked: Copy the Install DVD to a USB flash drive and boot from that.

  • External Hard Drive Won't Mount- Need to recover files

    Hello Everyone,
I am hoping that one of you fine mac experts may be able to assist ~
Problem: External Seagate FreeAgent Desktop USB external hard drive
won't mount on desktop=ie: no access to my important files.. Please Help!
    Details:
External seagate freeagent 500 GB Desktop USB HD ( only 2 months old)
(using for document / file backup-not as a startup disc)
    on my Mac G3 350 MZ Blue & White Tower /768 ram/ running OSX 10.1.5 & OS9.2~
    ~
Problem: Started using the external 500 GB HD 2 months ago -with no problems-until this morning. Tried to double click to open it to access files
and got the "beach ball of death" and needed to restart.
My trusty G3 started up fine, however, the external HD was now
not showing up on the desktop as normal. I troubleshooted -by restarting,
trying different a/c plugs/ different USB ports , ran disk utility..called
seagate -not much help . Seagate said to try the HD on another mac-which I did-
    a G5 tower- same problem.
    ~
The External hard drive will show up in disk utility, but is grayed out.
and when click "mount" same two messages keep showing:
message 1: "a disk attempting to mount as unknown has failed verification or has failed to
mount.please use disk utility to check the disk"
    ~
message 2- when unplugging and repluggin the usb in-and upon
restart:" you have inserted a disk containg no volumes that mac osx
can read to use unreadable volumes, click initialize to continue with the disk inserted ,click continue"
    ~
( I really need access to these files- and do not want to re-initialize the HD!!)
I ran Disk Utility /first aid "verify & repair , the following info came up:
Repairing disk "main backup 2007 ".
    Checking HFS Plus volume.
    Checking Extents Overflow file.
    Checking Catalog file.
    Invalid key length ( <<<IN RED )
    Repair completed. "
    ~~
Though it said the repair was completed, the "invalid key length" issue
still comes up when re-running disk utility...Hard drive would still not
mount on desktop-even after restarting .
    ~~~~~
    If there is a mac genius out there that can help?- it would be greatly
    appreciated. I have tried to call seagate several times in the last several hours-
    1st time-they disconnected me after being on hold 10 minutes-2nd call
    I was put on hold for 40 minutes ..Finally spoke to someone ( they are not mac users or mac experts!)and he said I would need to send it to Seagate's Data Recovery-... for a fee of course!
    ~~~
At this point, I am hoping to just get the files and photos off
the hard drive- I heard about Disk Warrior-should I use that and if so
    what version?
    Thank you very much!
    L

Will zapping the PRAM be of any use in getting the external to mount on the desktop?
Your external Hard drive is already recognized. But it cannot be mounted on the desktop due to its directory damage. You can certainly Zap the PRAM, and it will not hurt anything, but I am skeptical that it will change the situation.
Do you think the Disk Warrior 4.0 cd will even work on my G3 350MHZ running Mac OS 10.1.5?
If you boot from the CD and run it from the CD, absolutely yes. If you attempt to INSTALL it from a download or a CD, probably not.
Have you ever used Disc Warrior and is using it complicated?
I own and use Disk Warrior. You select the drive to be rebuilt, it builds a proposed new directory from the information and file fragments available.
When complete, it will provide a list of problems encountered, tell you what files have been placed in the "Rescued Items" folder, and allow you too look at your drive using the proposed new directory. Your only decision is whether the new directory seems to be an improvement over the old \[in your case, hopelessly corrupted] directory. You then tell it whether to replace the old directory with the proposed new directory, or to abandon its work and leave your Hard Drive unchanged.
Is there a good chance that the ext HD will still have my files on it- or do you think from what I've described that they are gone ?
From what you have described, your files are very likely to still be there. Sometimes in a situation like this, a handful of files cannot be recovered.
My other thought was to take the external HD there and have them try to recover the files.
Make sure you completely understand the costs involved. File recovery using a service like DriveSavers can run into many hundreds of dollars. They are prepared to disassemble your drive in a clean room and replace controller boards and read/write heads to achieve success. Your drive has serious, but not fatal, Directory damage. The Hardware, and most of your files, are likely just fine.
