Fuji RAW "RAF" How to read with photoshop?

Anyone tell me how to read a RAF file please?
I am using PS Elements 8 and a Fuji X20 with *.RAF files.
The PS e8 is fully updated.

And we've been trying to inform you, even in light of your childish insults, that the world is not like that, no matter how much you stamp your feet and cry.
Try to understand that a number of very smart people here, who have thought about this a lot longer than you have and quite likely understand things better than you do, are advising you that you're off base.
You've been given the facts, including that the camera makers are purposefully creating unique file formats for each new camera they make, a practice which costs companies like Adobe significant engineering effort and time to decode.  Adobe has even developed a fully featured, open raw file specification (the DNG standard) that the camera makers could use to solve this problem directly, but nooo, most of them won't use it.  So you blame Adobe for not keeping your ancient software current, free of charge, and for some reason you seem to feel a software company shouldn't be allowed to profit from their work in improving their product.
You paid Fuji, the devious one in this situation, but you refuse to pay Adobe because they didn't reach into your computer and connect all the dots for you?  You seem to think that someone - anyone - other than you needs to be your system integrator.  As stated, the world is not like that.
Beyond that, you apparently don't have an interest in discussing how to get good results through the DNG conversion process, which despite your ranting folks here are still willing to discuss.  But it seems you're too smart to suspect that your own inability to operate the raw converter effectively could be the problem there.
Your choices are clear.  Pay to play, use the free product that invokes a bit of extra work, or go elsewhere.  I'm sorry I did not list 3.  Go away in my first response; my mistake.

I am interested in the script that you created too. I have some LDAP books on the way and will try to learn scripting but I have no experience in it and any little push in the right direction would be much appreciated. We are trying to integrate AD with CCM which we did with CCM 4.0.2 but now the Directories button does not work, which we new it wasn't going to, but they want me to create several menu listings say
    1.
2.Standard Cisco Missed, Placed and Received Calls
    3.
    4. Corporate that will automatically search the entire AD.
    5. This will search only in OU X

If this is possible I would be in your debt if I could just get a sample to give me a push in the right direction.

  • How to open a RAW file that has been created with Photoshop CS5.5?

I did some HDRs and when back in Photoshop CS 5.5 I tried to save them (16 bit colur depth).
GIven the option to save the image as .RAW file I did that but now:
Which program can be used to open those Photoshop created RAW files???
When I try to open one of these files with Photoshop I just get noise.

    1.  Photoshop CAN open (flat) PSD files through Camera Raw, no problem.
    2. There are those of us who have used every version of Photoshop, going back almost 20 years, and who *still* haven't used them all.  I just don't see that as any kind of problem.
    3. Lastly:  You have been asserting here all along that Photoshop won't re-open a 16 bit .raw file properly.  That's absolutely wrong.  If you get the bit depth, number of channels, and pixel counts right (i.e., the same as when the image was saved) it WILL open properly.  The thing is, with the Photoshop raw format there really is no metadata in the file, meaning YOU have to put all those numbers in.  It's not a general purpose "push one button and done" kind of format - it's a specialty format, as Chris noted above.
    -Noel
    1) will try that out
    2) I am just curious and like to try out all functions and see what it does and how it works.
    3) guess I have to play arould with it a bit more to find the right settings that allow me to save and re-open the file correctly.
BTW: when writing messages here my FF browser doesnt show any cursor in the text field which makes it difficult to see where I am. Does everyone have that problem?
Just noticed: I have to click on to something in the pulldown menu and later the cursor appears. I have the same problem with facebook. Have to click somewhere else first and then go back to the text field to make the cursor appear.

How can i use Nikon D 7100 and Panasonic Lumix DMC-LF1 with Photoshop CS 5 Camera Raw?

The one needs 7.4 (or better), the other 8.1, so Photoshop CS5 with ACR6 is not up to the task.
The free DNG Converter could be used to convert the RAW images to DNG which your version of ACR should be able to process.

Is there any one who could let me know how to read Raw images Canon power shot g16? I tried all I could and followed the suggestions given by ADOBE but noting works. I see the images with other program but I cannot work on them.

Check your version of Camera Raw installed: Help (Win)/Photoshop (Mac) > About Plug-in > Camera Raw.
If it is less than 8.2, it won't work with this camera.
If it is less than 8.6, you don't have all the updates installed.

  • How to open Raw images (NRW) from Nikon Coolpix p7800 with Photoshop elements 12?

I am not able to view/edit my images directly form card reader into PhotoShop Elements 12.  This is why I am looking at this software. Need help. Viewed Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras  but do not see how to download the plug in?

From the page you linked to, you need ACR 8.3 to open P7800 raw files.  You probably just need to update your Photoshop Elements using Help / Updates.  If that doesn’t work, then at least check what version of ACR plug-in you have using Help / About Plug-in / Camera Raw in case your ACR is new enough and something else is wrong.

  • How do I process Fuji XE2 raf files in lightroom 4.4

New to Fuji cameras! Love the camera, now I need to know how to get Lightroom 4.4 to preview and process my XE2 raf files. My issue starts with a message 'can not preview image' and the raw raf files do not come up at all. Ideas?

Where did you see this false information--about LR 4.4 supporting the X-E2?
LR 4.4.1 was released June 2013.
The X-E2 was announced October 2013, some months after, LR 4.4.1.
Adobe's raw conversion software needs specific information for each camera, to support raws from that camera.  Adobe needs a production-ready camera in hand to determine this information so there's no way LR 4.4.1 would already have information from a camera not announced until some months later, and available for sale even later.
If you have simple software that supports the camera, either it is newer, or it is merely reading the embedded JPG preview and not interpreting the raw data.
The DNG Converter 8.3 or newer should work fine to create DNGs from the camera's native raw files; however, when you specify the source, the usual confusion is that you are selecting a FOLDER and you won't see any image files listed.

  • My student has been using Lightroom 4 with Photoshop CS5 on her Mac for well over a year. Because of the difference between the Camera raw version available to her in Photoshop CS5 and the raw process in Lightroom 4, she has been exporting her raw images

    Any ideas?

My student has been using Lightroom 4 with Photoshop CS5 on her Mac for well over a year. Because of the difference between the Camera raw version available to her in Photoshop CS5 and the raw process in Lightroom 4, she has been exporting her raw images from Lightroom and choosing the "Render using Lightroom option when it popped up in the dialogue box. She has been doing this for over a year and a half without any problem. Today when she hit Command E no dialogue box appeared and the image just opened in Photoshop. I'm concerned that all of her Lightroom edits are not being rendered to Photoshop. Anyone have an idea as to how we can get the "Render using Lightroom" dialogue back?

  • Opening iPhoto 8 JPG file with Photoshop CS3 Camera Raw editor

I have all my photos stored in my iPhoto 8 library. I have both RAW (CR2) and JPG images. iPhoto 8 opens the CR2 images with Photoshop Raw editor, but I want to use iPhoto to open JPG images with the Photoshop Raw editor using Camera Raw.
How do I do this without having to export JPG images and opening from Photoshop?
    Thanks!
    SP

    SP:
If you're trying to use the RAW editor on a jpg it can't be done. It will only work on the RAW file. If you are wanting to edit the RAW file from within iPHoto with CS3 then set CS3 to be the editor of choice in iPhoto's general preferences. Next go to the Advanced iPhoto preference pane and select the option "User RAW when using external editor". That will open the RAW file with Photoshop's raw editor. When you finish you MUST save the new file to the Desktop and import as a new file.
For some general info on using Photoshop with iPhoto:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 6 the Saving File preferences should be configured: "On First Save: Save Over Current File". Also I suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: iPhoto 8's new option in it's rebuild library window, "Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" may make this tip obsolete. We'll know when users have occasion to use it and see if that's the case.

  • Camera raw with Photoshop

i have photos shot in RAW and want to work with them in Photoshop. When i open them in Photoshop, i don't get the RAW dialog box. This has never happened before. Any ideas?

In my experience, checking the box in Advanced Preferences to have the original RAW file exported to Photoshop does not seem to work. After following the instructions in the iPhoto Help, the file which appears in Photoshop is the TIFF file created by iPhoto.
This applies whether the preference for an external editor (Photoshop) is selected for all photos (in General Preferences) or for an individual photo (by right clicking).
Just to be clear, both boxes in the Advanced Preferences (the TIFF box and the edit RAW box) are checked.
I have not upgraded Photoshop to CS3: maybe this is the issue?
A related issue is that as a result of the iPhoto upgrade, which wraps the photo library in a "package", the RAW files downloaded from the camera are not accessible by Photoshop Bridge directly, whereas before they were. If iPhoto does not export the RAW file to Photoshop as it should, then editing the RAW file in Photoshop becomes very clumsy (right click on photo in iPhoto to "reveal in finder", then open in Photoshop).
Any thoughts about how to make iPhoto '08 behave as intended would be most welcome.
    Fortinbras.

    Hi Frederick,
You're spending a lot of money.  I will add my 2¢ -- -- but you must, as I assume you know, fully research your options.
    Environment:
Start with your workspace (inc. lighting) and your clothes.
    Screen:
The iMac screens are lovely, but not, from what I hear, monitor-grade accurate.  For critical color work, use NEC or Eizo monitors.  I use NEC, with their SpectraView II software and an X-Rite ColorMunki photospectrometer.  At the time, this was the least expensive color-calibrated workflow.
    Printer:
Epson's are great, imho.  I use a 3880 in my studio and rent a 9900 by the hour when needed.  I have read of problems (iirc) with one of the printers in the 7000 line, however.  The take-home lesson that I filed in my brain was, "If you're going to spend the money on the 7000 line, just get the 9000 line."
    Aperture workflow:
Aperture is a fantastic workflow tool.  Since you are adept with PS, you should set PS as your external editor.  Use Apertures formidable tools for storing and organizing your Images, and its robust editing tools for either all your proofing, or all but your most demanding editing needs.  That said, allow a good bit of time to get the feel of Aperture.  It is not at all like Bridge.  But your important choice is which RAW converter you want to use.  There is, imho, no reason to use Aperture if you are going to use Adobe's (or anyone else's) RAW converter.
    Good luck!
