Fuji X-Pro 1 Raw file processing updated in 4.2?

With the release of 4.2 now supporting Fuji X-E1, does anyone know if this update fixes Fuji X-Pro 1 raw files?

I come across these sorts of post all the time while searching up information on a particular subject. You get some big shot in the community throwing a non-helpful reply out there.
The big shot with their non-helpful reply always seemed a bit… I don’t know, careless, smug. A lot of times I’m trying to research a subject and the reply comes across a lot like, well, I know it and so should you. Not always the case though. (In my job I’m asked a lot of simple questions, what I consider obvious. Things that are in the manual. I never brush people off so hastily though. I sit and help them because I don’t know… that seems like the proper thing to do)
Perhaps it’s just me, that I don’t think it’s appropriate to just brush someone off so easily. Perhaps it’s in my nature to put a thoughtful reply up. That even if I don’t fully understand the subject, I’d take the time to do a little research and see what I can find to help someone. I don’t subscribe to the mentality of just telling someone to “Google it”. I understand that Ian didn’t tell OP to google it, but I feel his replies are based in that same mind set.
It’s not just about brushing people off because they ask a question you feel they can answer themselves. I understand there’s a lot of information out there to those that know how to seek it. Not everyone does though and it’s wrong to assume as such. It’s better as a community to help people, even if their questions seem straight forward.
All I’ve found concerning raw files for the X-E1 so far are lab pictures. They don’t really correlate that well to real world performance and images. Though they may exhibit some of the problems, it doesn’t feel like I’m getting a clear image of the situation. Most of the threads I’ve found on the subject only have one image propped up as an example (Typically an image I don’t consider to be all that well shot, so what I can judge from it is still debatable)
Plus, I’d want other people’s experiences. Especially as a potential owner. I can only gather so much from a few sparse raw files.
Lastly, I’m not in a position at the moment to download random raw files and put them through lightroom. Even if I have a few moments to share, I’m not at a computer where I have access to lightroom/can install lightroom trial. This will change, in time, obviously, but at the moment this is the spot I’m in.
Sometimes there are problems like this, but at some point they get fixed. It can be difficult to sort through months of post of people complaining before you find the post where they say it’s fixed. People tend to quiet down after problems are fixed, so mostly what you still come across is the hordes of people that complained about it being broken.
Dog me if you’d like over the fact that I replied to a post that was a few months old. I don’t care. Obviously it reached someone.
P.S. Sometimes it’s really nice to talk to another human being when you have a problem or question. I think a lot of people are conditioned to do that. Questions may not always be necessary, but that doesn’t mean they should be shrugged off. There was a time where we didn’t have this magical land of porn and cat photos and in those days it was quite acceptable to ask each other questions, even on simple subjects.

  • Fuji X Pro 1 Raw Files

Hi - Does anyone know when Aperture will be upgraded to support RAW files from the new Fuji X Pro 1??

    1)  This is an extremely common question here.  Learning to search the forums would be a good skill.
    2)  Nobody here knows an answer to this question.

Any one know when fuji X-pro 1 raw support is coming to aperture??

Anyone who might know is constrained from answering your query by strict and strictly enforced non-displasure agreements. Further it is against the rules of these forums to speculate on future releases. There are however, any number of Apple rumor sites that are more than happy to spedulate on future Apple releases and occasionally they even have some basis in fact.

  • Photoshop elements 10 support for fuji x pro 1 raf files

How do I open fuji raf files from a fuji x pro 1 camera in photoshop elements 10? I have downloaded the camera raw 7.1 plugin update and tried to run it but it tells me it is not appropriate and will not install.

  • Can't open raw file after update 6.6 camera raw

Just updated camera raw in photoshop 5 on a mac pro running 10.6.8 os wont open a raw file and program freezes and must force quit to close. Lightroom update has problems as well. Don't recommend updating to either

Same Problem.  Everything worked fine until ACR 6.6 install just now on Windows 7 machine (CS 5 Production Premium).  Bridge/Photoshop can no longer read my Canon 5D Mark II RAW files, but work fine with older Canon camera RAW files, TIF's, jpegs.  How do I uninstall just ACR 6.6 and reinstall ACR 6.5 without doing anything else? Thanks.

  • RAW file processing with Elements 9

When I open a RAW image taken with a EOS 5D Mk III with Elements 9, I receive a message saying - cannot process file as it is the wrong file type?
When I attempt to re-open the same file, I receive a message - Could not complete your request because of a program error
The file size is 24 mb
    Any help wopuld be appreciated.
    Many thanks

    Hi,
The 5D MK III is not supported by PSE 9. It requires ACR 6.7 or 7.1 which will not apply to PSE 9.
    You can either :-
    1) Update to a newer version of elements
    2) Use the Canon software to covert the raw files to TIF files and then import the TIF files
    3) Download and install the free Adobe DNG Converter. Convert the raw files to DNG files and then import the DNG files into elements.

  • RAW file processed in PSE doesn't show up in iPhoto library.

I'm new to digital photography and last night decided to process a RAW image for the first time. I opted to select a NEF RAW file in my iPhoto library and process it in PSE 4 for Mac. I did a right click on the image and selected "Edit in external editor." After processing the RAW image I saved it as a DNG file. However, when I returned to my iPhoto library I could find the DNG thumbnail. The NEF thumbnail from which it was derived is there but not the DNG thumbnail. This was totally unexpected, because after editing JPEGs in PSE 4 and saving them I have always found the thumbnails of the edited JPEGs in my iPhoto library alongside the original unedited JPEGs.
I can't do further editing of the DNG image if I can't find it! I would appreciate an explanation by some experienced hand as to what is going on here and how I can make contact with my newly produced DNG image! Also, how do I get it to show up in my iPhoto library?
I noticed that instead of saving the processed RAW file I had the option of opening it, presumably to do further editing in PSE. Had I done so and performed additional editing I would have saved it as a JPEG file. What procedure would I employ to make sure that the JPEG file ends up in the iPhoto library alongside the original RAW file?

The catch with working on a RAW file is that you cannot save it in its' original format. Your NEF file became a DNG file. iPhoto has no idea that this new file exists, so you'll have to import that to iPhoto.
This is also true any time you use a 'Save As' command.

  • Editing RAW files processed in iPhoto in the Windows version of Photoshop?

Although a fairly competent photographer I am new to digital image making/processing. Happily a professional photographer friend with a great deal of expertise in the digital area has offered to help me make some 13x19" prints I need for a job I'm completing. My friend as a very sophisticated facility for processing images and making prints so I pretty excited to have this opportunity.
Trouble is he uses a Windows version of Photoshop and has no experience with iPhoto, or for that matter Mac stuff in general.
My question is that I have some images shot RAW in 8 Megapixle Olympus E-300 and tuned up a bit in iPhoto 6. As I understand it iPhoto first converts RAW images into jpeg before processing and then outputs the edited images in that format. My friend, on the other hand, prefers to work with TIFF files.
How should I copy both the RAW and TIFF format images I have in iPhoto to a CD that will allow me to transfer the images I wish to print to my friends Window machine for editing in Photoshop?
    Thanks!
    Win

I suggest that you export the photos with kind = original which will give your your unedited RAW files - if you want the edited versions export with kind = TIFF if you want TIFF copies of the edited versions
Export these to a desktop folder and then burn that folder to a CD to take on your adventure

  • PS/Bridge not recognizing raw files - HAVE updated DNG Converter & Camera RAW

Had to re-install my Adobe CS3 due to hard drive crash.
Now that I have re-installed, Photoshop & Bridge won’t recognize my raw files.
I HAVE updated my Adobe Camera Raw (3 times in the last hour), and my DNG Converter (4 times in the last hour). Nothing works. Any ideas?

If in photoshop cs3 you go to Photoshop>About Plug-in and click on the words Camera Raw, which version does it show?
Since photoshop cs3 can only use up to camera raw 4.6 and the EOS 5D Mark II requires at least camera raw 5.2, cs3 won't open those files directly without some help.

The 4.6 camera raw plugin update for photoshop cs3
Adobe - Photoshop : For Macintosh : Camera Raw 4.6 update
You could use the 8.7.1 dng converter to convert the files to dng copies which then bridge should see and photoshop cs3 should be able to open.

  • I have photoshop CS 5.1. Just bought the fuji x100T and my RAW files won't work on it. What can I do?

I have just bought the fuji x100T and can't open the RAW files in CS 5.1. What can I do. Do I have to upgrade? Do I have to get the creative cloud? Do I get a discount to the creative cloud as I own a copy of CS 5.1? I hope someone can answer these questions. Many thanks.

You can either upgrade, as Warunicorn said, or use Adobe's free DNG converter to convert proprietary raws to the universal DNG raw format. Here are the links:

  • Aperture can't read RAW files since update???

So I went to import the pictures from the holidays into Aperture yesterday and it wouldn't read the raw files. Aperture just keeps saying it's generating thumbnails. I shut it down, got on a plane and tried again today, same problem and even the photos previously imported and were fine aren't showing up properly. It just says "unsupported image format."
My last import was the last week of Novemeber.
Is anyone else having this problem since the 2.1.4 update??

    I encountered a similar problem - see thread http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2274871&tstart=0
Did you also do the latest MAc Os update - with the additional DIGITAL RAW compatibility update 2.7?
I did the APerture update a while ago and everything was working fine - it is only after I did the latest OS update that I encountered the same issue.

  • HT4757 Fuji X Pro 1 Raw compatibility, Is aperture working on a fix for this??

I just got the new Fuji X-pro 1 a month ago and am waiting for a patch so I can use camera raw...Is anyone else out there in the same situation? Have I missed something??

I found this in an older post, although I didn't hear anything from support.
+I have heard from tech support from Apple. This is a defect in iTunes. There is nothing you (we) can do to fix it. We will have to wait for iTunes to release a fix. In the meantime, to get a refund, when you get your invoice from Apple for the rental, simply click on the "report a problem" link in the email and follow all instructions. Your money will be refunded. FYI this problem is occurring on Mac as well as Windows.+
*If this is true I really hope this issue is fixed before the release of iTunes 7.7!*

  • Unable to open raw file after update to Raw 5.2

I am using Photo shop CS4 on a Intel Mac. I have down loaded the Raw 5.2 update, but Photo shop does not recognize the raw file. I have a Canon EOS 50D.

How and where did you install the ACR-plug-in? Did you decompress it first? Did you replace the old plug-in you found at that precise same location? What do you see as far as Camera Raw in Photoshop > About Plug-in?

  • Canon 7D Raw File processing

Has LR3.6 addressed the poor processing of 7D raw files ?

You can view the Process Version of each photo using either Develop / Settings / Process, or as the Process item in the Camera Calibration panel at the lower right in Develop.  When I import a new 7D RAW into LR 3.6 I get 2010 as the PV so I don’t think anything changed in LR 3.6.
Somehow the PV has become set to 2003 for the photos with the exclamation point.  The factory default for LR is to use the most recent Process Version as a photo is imported, but perhaps you’ve inadvertently set the PV to 2003 and saved the LR defaults or are using a Import preset with a PV of 2003 stored in it, or accidentally synchronized one photo’s settings onto others with the PV set to 2003.

  • Fuji X pro 1 RAW support?

Any date yet when aperture will support Fuji xPro 1 raw files?

Actually Fuji's US representatives have stated that all the code required to translate the XPro's RAW files has been in the hands of the major RAW decoder developers for a while.  Apple has apparently not put the resources into this as they feel there is not enough demand for the extra effort required to develop for the X-Trans.
    http://www.imaging-resource.com/news/2013/01/30/qa-with-fujifilms-kayce-baker-x- trans-ii-sensor-proves-Fuji-is-not-resting
Phase One, Siklypix, and Adobe have all decided otherwise.  Unfortunately after waiting about 9 months for this it means I have transferred to using Lightroom for all my newer shoots.  This is after using Aperture for around 4 years.  I still don't like Lightroom as much, but I work in RAW and now use only the XPro - so I have no option.  I will wait for another 6 months or so before I decide whether or not to transfer all my legacy library over.  After that, it will be goodbye to Apple forever for my photo management.
