Fujifilm RAW support?

When will we have RAW support in Aperture for images from the Fujifilm cameras X-Pro 1 and X-E1. These cameras use a totally new designed X-trans CMOS sensor with a 6x6 color filter array. This makes the job much more complicated for Apple I assume, but it's been more than 9 months now since the release of the X-Pro 1 so I think it's about time. Switching to a different RAW converter is not the solution I prefer.
Ps. I know the support is in OS X rather than in Aperture.

According to an article at Fujirumors today, Fuji is working with Adobe and Apple to make their software compatible with the RAW-files of the X-Trans sensor.
Billy from the Fuji Guys:
"They recently signed a non-disclosure agreement with both Adobe and Apple and provided them with specs for supporting the X-Trans sensor! He said he is also pushing strong with Fuji to add support for TIFF in the camera so that could be another good thing for some."
Apple released Digital Camera RAW Compability Update 4.01 for 11 new cameras just two days ago, but the Fujis were not amongst them. Question is, will it be later or never?

  • Fujifilm RAW support for X-Trans sensor

The"water color effect"  in Lightroom is now gone. But what about the DNG-converter?

    ssprengel wrote:
An exception to this would be for Linear DNGs that have already have been demosaicked, but still retain the raw property of absolute white-balance and camera calibration adjustments, right?
And Lossy DNGs that are resampled from their original resolution (which requires that the file be a linear DNG).

  • RAW-Support for Fujifilm X10

I just want Apple to integrate RAW-Support for the Fujifilm X10, hoping they read this.
I'm not the only one who wants this!
So please show that Apple is really better than all the others

    Also posted a feature request.
I would urge everyone to do so, because Apple *does* prioritise bugs and feature-requests based on the number of people reporting them

  • Fuji x10 with EXR sensor - Is there RAW support in Lightroom 5

    Hello,
I am about to purchase the Fuji x10 because now you can get them at a very reasonable price. I prefer shooting in RAW and I found out that there is a problem with the new Fuji EXR sensor. When I do an online research about this fine camera I read a lot about problems that RAW converters have with this special Fuji EXR sensor and the poor results you get when developing the Fuji RAW files. I can read in the Adobe list that Lightroom supports the Fuji x10 but does this mean that Adobe solved the problems with the EXR sensor in Lightroom 5?
Is there anybody who developes Fuji x10 RAW files with the latest Lightroom 5 version and can tell me what results she or he gets?
Shooting JPGs only wouldn't be a solution for me, so I really hope Adobe found a way to deal with this EXR sensor.
Thanks for every help and good advice.
    Conroy

Those are new profiles created by Adobe to emulate the conversion that is done by the Fujifilm Camera firmware that processes the raw data in the camera. They are profiles for processing the RAW data. Adobe also provides a standard Profile specific to the x10 for the processing of the raw data, it is labeled "Adobe Standard".
The only way you will be know if you will be happy with the processing of Fujifilm RAW files by Lightroom is by doing what ssprengel advises, get some raw files from the x10 and test for yourself.
Looking at the camera "Review" of the x10 done in 2012 almost 2 years ago by DPReview I would say the ACR/LR processing or raw files from the x10 got a sub-standard review. Since that time ACR/LR have created new profiles and the only way to satisfy your self is to do some testing. The profile referred to above have been produced after the 2012 review so should provide improved results.
If you need some more info from Fujifilm users you can think about posting in the forum for Fujifilm Camera in the DPReview forum see the link below.

  • Fuji X10 RAW support on the way?

Are there any information regarding the support of the new Fujifilm X10 RAW files?
Unfortunately the RAF files are not the same like the X100.
There are already some rumors out there, that Apple is not going to support the X10...

I must admit - I am getting more and more tired of being an apple slave.
They published the latest camera update for aperture:
    Canon PowerShot S100
    Nikon 1 J1
    Nikon 1 V1
    Nikon COOLPIX P7100
    Olympus PEN E-PL1s
    Olympus PEN E-PL3
    Olympus PEN E-PM1
    Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FZ150
    Sony Alpha NEX-5N
    Sony Alpha SLT-A65
    Sony Alpha SLT-A77
Still no RAW support for Fuji X10 - well done Apple!

  • Request for S200/S205EXR Raw support

Adobe folks, one of your own mentioned awhile back that work was in progress for Lightroom to support the RAW files from the Fujifilm S200/S205EXR camera.  This was some time ago.  Will this support still come or is there a change in plans?
    Thank you.

There could be technical problems.  Lr needs a minimum amount of access to raw image data to work, and some vendors lock some key information away and don't provide an easy way to get at that legally.
A question worth investigating is if anyone else supports raw images form these cameras to any great extent.
    [Edit]
Well, I did a little research myself, and it appears that the raw support for this camera is very vendor specific.  Apparently, the sensor technology is rather unique, and most people have best success with the vendor software.  Other convertors are (apparently) not all that successful at getting at and providing access to the full range of raw image data.  Whether this inability is a result of vendor lock-in is unknown, but my money is on Fuji not really letting their customers have full access to the image data.
This situation is exactly why a niche company like Fuji (oh, how the mighty have fallen) should consider embracing DNG.

  • EXPRESS: Why no raw support in Photoshop express from Revel?

We just got back from a trip to Disneyland and I shot over 800 photos in raw format on my Canon camera. I uploaded the images using my iPad to Revel each night and tonight I am home and I opened Photoshop Express so I could send some photos to Walgreens and I see thumbnails of my images from Revel in PSE but when I try to open one, I get an error that Photoshop Express cannot open this file. I dug around some before I found a message from Patti on the forums that says that PSE does not support Raw Files. Come on guys, I am a premium subscriber and I have Raw support in Revel and yet PSE which has more editing options won't support the files. I wanted to tweak some and upload to walgreens to print and it's easier to do it from PSE than to have to use the camera roll and then Walgreens app. I also wanted to upload some to to Flickr which PSE support and Revel used to support but no longer does. What is going on Adobe? Why are all the cloud products so fragmented? I'm starting to consider just storing images on my NAS and using other apps to accomplish the tasks from my iPad because your cloud services are not making this easier.

But InDesign has it as well and I think this is like the craziest omission I can think of and they have made some serious ones in the past.
Hopefully the next version all the apps will have it and that in case there are any problems it will be done in the way so that it will not cause any unforeseen difficulties.
thanks for the answer David. Good you can find a little time to visit here as with this thread we all guess and you know better.

  • RAW Support for Canon G9

Looked at the RAW Support page this morning after the website was updated and it appears there were no updates to support the Canon G9. Is this correct? Or have some of you received software updates this morning.
    Thanks

I've downloaded the Lightroom demo (my 3rd time) and imported 266 D300 RAW photos from a Sunday morning shoot. I prefer Aperture, but I'm giving LR another chance. It's not that bad. My problem is that all our Macs are on Tiger and I really don't want Leopard (I also run many programs simply not compatible with Leopard), so in all likelihood will have to switch to LR/PS, which is rapidly becoming the standard anyways. I have to say performance is much faster but the 5 workflow separations in the user experience is inefficient, an artificial "silo" approach. Apertures UI model is much more flexible and transparent.
I'll wait this week out and see if anything happens...

  • Continued lack of RAW support

I am really perplexed with Apple RAW support. I thought finally with the release of Aperture 3 they would finally get it right. I haven't been able to use Aperture before because they haven't support most of the cameras I've owned. Finally today they added the G1 - 16 months after the camera launched and on the eve of a new model release. I sort of understood that they needed to incorporate lens corrections BUT.....
There is still no support of the GF1 - released in September 2009. Gheeez the files are the same as the G1. Lightroom has had support since day 1.
I am really afraid to make Aperture my primary DAM and image editor until I can get comfortable that Apple is actually serious about supporting cameras as they are released. Not sure how to get Apple to understand that their audience for this product is an audience that tends to buy new camera gear. Waiting months or years for camera support makes Aperture unusable as a product.
How do we get Apple to listen?

teb, me too. I have owned the GF1 since September and have been waiting and waiting.
Supporting only the G1 and GH1 makes no sense - it is the same raw format. I'm wondering if there is a way to get Aperture to ignore it. See this post on how a script can make EP1+EP2 files be read as an E30:
    http://www.apertureexpert.com/tips/2010/2/1/a-script-to-open-olympus-e-p1-e-p2-r aw-orf-files-in-aperture.html
The only way to get Apple to listen is to go to the Aperture menu, then click Provide Aperture Feedback. Here's the direct link: http://www.apple.com/feedback/aperture.html
This is the only channel that works and I think a lot of people either don't know it is there, or cannot be bothered.

  • Lost camera raw support for canon 1ds markI in mountain lion

I seem to have lost system support for camera raw files for the original Canon 1ds (what you might call the markI). There's been two recent raw support updates, and I'm not sure if it occured with the first for those two updates or with update to Mountain Lion itself (which I recently clean-installed). I noticed it after the first raw support update (Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 4.01) but it could have happend with Mountain Lion install and I just didn't notice. In any case, I definitely don't have support for the camera raw files, finder shows only the generic TIFF icon thumnail (the raw files from the markI 1ds were of the extension .TIF, before canon moved on to .cr2 format..). Preview and Aperture can preview the file but without any custom white balance or other info stored with the raw file from camera.
Anybody else experience this or know fix?
    Thanks!
For anyone wanting and willing to test on their machine, I'll post a link to a test raw file.... hmm, apparently this support forum does not allow for the linclusion of a link to an image file, but I'll see if it allows for a link to a zipped folder with image inside... I suppose I wouldn't download a .zip file myself but for anyone braver than I:
    http://laglj.com/2012hirez/1dsTestFile.zip
    Thanks,
    Lane
    laglj.com

    Lane,
That latest raw update also shows supported devices. The EOS-1Ds is still shown as supported by Mountain Lion in the knowledge base article that accompanies it. Bump!
I wonder if using Disk Utility and verify/fix permissions may restore your RAW capability.
    Don't have Aperture or Lightroom.
I installed the recent raw updates into 10.8.2. The DB5W2360.TIF file has a generic Preview icon. Graphic Converter 8.3.1 opens .cr2 files, and it opened this TIF file nicely as well. GC is willing to modify white balance with a condition that it cannot be done in place, and must be exported to a different format.
    Not much help, I know.

  • Why no raw support for Fuji XF-1?

The XF-1 has the same sensor as the X10 so it should be easy enough to add to RAW support I think.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • Why no RAW support for the Fuji FinePix HS10?

This camera is well over a year old.  Why is there no support for the RAW file?

It is definitely not only Fuji. I used a Panasonic Lumix FX-150 before that has been supported by Adobe Camera Raw for quite some time now. I replaced that camera by a Lumix LX5, but I see that the FX-150 is still not supported by Apple Camera Raw and probably never will.
If you want wide range RAW support, use Lightroom. (Not to say that Aperture doesn't have its strengths, e.g. support for geocoding.)

  • Why no RAW support for Fuji X10?

The Fuji X10 has been on the market for almost a year now and there still is no RAW support for it in Aperture. Why?

Only Apple can asnwer the "Why?" questions, I'm afriad.
Aperture menu -> Provide Aperture Feedback and let them know you want it.

  • Olympus E-P3 Raw Support Question

I recently purchased an Olympus E-P3. I thought that Aperture supported Raw format with this camera (at least according to Apple's own statements, it is supposed to be supported). But I loaded photos from my Olympus into Aperture and it just gave me a message that there were unsupported files and it did not import any of the raw files.
So, does Aperture 3 support Olympus Raw or not? I read in other places that people were having to manually tell Aperture to reprocess files and somehow that worked. But I thought Raw support meant that raw files would upload directly into Aperture.
What exactly does "raw support" mean if Aperture doesn't recognize Olympus ORF files?
    Thanks.
    Aperture 3.2.2
Yes I just updated all my software including Aperture Raw support

Looking at this page OS X Lion: Supported digital camera RAW formats the Olympus PEN E-P3 is show as supported by 10.7.2 so a few last things I can think to try:
One is to do the steps listed in Aperture 3: Troubleshooting Basics. Doesn;t seem like this would be a library problem but you never know and the procedures don;t take much time.
Would be to create a new library and try to import a RAW file into that just to try and narrow down where the problem is.
Would be to create a new user on your system, log in as that user, run Aperture and try to import a RAW file for the same reason.
Would be to post  RAW file on the net somewhere like dropbox so one of us could test it out on our systems to see if it behaves any differently.
Finally a call to Apple to find out whats going on.
    good luck
    regards
Message was edited by: Frank Caggiano - One other thing I just thought of. Try to import using iPhoto (if you have it) or with Image Capture to try and narrow down the problem to Aperture or the Raw CAmera bundle
