Fujifilm X-Pro1?

How come the Fujifilm X-Pro1 is not included in Camera raw 6.7? I need it! I need to be able to work on my raw files ASAP! Why?

My issues are not with Adobe, or with Fuji exclusively.  My issues are with them together.  If Silkypix is able to handle the Fuji RAW format, then it is conceivable that Adobe would also be able to develop a process to deal with the format.  Something must be going on behind the scenes between hardware and software manufacturers that prevents some 3rd party companies (IE Adobe) from having the capability to deal with RAW formats before the release of new hardware, while others (Silkypix) can.   Fuji must have hand picked Silkypix to to "the one" to handle the camer's RAW format.  This begs the question "Why isn't the industry leader in image production software picked to handle the RAW format work for the industry leader for point-and-click?"
But ACR and Lightroom DO support the RAF file format that Fuji produces. If you look at the list of supported cameras in the accompanying help file on the Adobe website you will see that there are a number of Fuji cameras that are supported. It isn't just the RAF format; it's the individual camera models. And the model we have been talking about in this thread is so new that there hasn't been enough time to profile that specific camera model. ACR and Lightroom need to know that information, and a profile needs to be created for that model or they cannot know what to provide. Again, support is provided on a MODEL basis, not just a file format.

  • RAW files from my Fujifilm X-Pro1 open with a blank white box

I'm using an iMac running OS X (ver. 10.9.3) and the newest version of PhotoShop CC and have checked to see that the most recent updates are current. In working with RAW files from my Fujifilm X-Pro1 I am able to bring up a RAW (RAF) image from Bridge into the RAW application and make the changes I want. When I try to bring the image from the RAW dialog screen into PhotoShop however, I get only a blank white box. The image does not appear. Any suggestions?

  • HT4007 Are they going to add Fujifilm X-Pro1 RAW format?

IPhoto and Aperture 3 still does not support Fujifilm X-Pro1 RAW. Camera model is not new, it is released in the spring of 2012.
Should I wait for the support of this format in Aperture.
Other software companies already support this camera model from the summer 2012.

There's already plenty of discussion about this...see the "More Like This" topics at the right.
Other than SilkyPix (described as having it's own set of issues) what other software companies support the X-Pro1 format properly ?? There's support out there, but from everything I've read most of it doesn't work very well.

  • HT4757 When will Aperture support Fujifilm X-Pro1 raw files?

When will Aperture support Fujifilm X-Pro1 raw files?

I firmly disencourage people to purchase Aperture these days.
To everyone asking me for advise as a Pro photographer.
Apple attitude on this issue is of abandonement and ignorance of users needs.
Unfortunately, the feeling is that this is going to be the permanent standard.
They are not providing translations, not providing support to models such as X-Pro1 that has received inmediate reaction from major developers, neither do care for users that openly claim for RAW support for an extended model as X-10.
This is somehow another sign of apple arrogance in term of market predominant coompany.
If Apple do not begin to lose sales and an importan market share this is going to be worse and worse.
    Best way: Ignore Aperture.
Adobe is nowadays the ONLY option for photographers.
I don't like Lightroom so I must select my shots with Photo Mechanic, or Xnview and then go to photoshop.
    Sick of Apple.

  • FujiFilm X-Pro1 RAF

Workflow for basic photographic work appear somewhat obscure with Aperature.
Iphoto worked nice with all the inexpensive cameras.
I then bought Aperature with NIK software plug ins.    Primarily for the large library I have accumulated that is is over 20 years of Mac hosting and photos I collected.  With Olympus, Nikon, Sony, and Sigma (also a non-Bayer RCA device).   With over 10 years of RAW+JPEG image captures, too.
    Still- No FujiFilm (non-Bayer sensor support) raw file support.  And no GPS integration (Garmin).  {EXIF edit}
I go to the Apple store- no one can figure out any workflow at the time of "import" while assembling or dragging along the necessary applications or plug-ins.  RAW+JPEG can be quite useful as you make the transition and get comfortable with a RAW-only workflow. RAW+JPEG was supposed to be bridging strategy but the storage penalty has been high waiting for Apple's transition to a RAW-only workflow.
Currently- I have SilkyPix, Lightroom 4, and RPP.  And for the GPS, I have geotagging software (e.g. Basecamp and Voyager).  ( I do evolve eventually to NTIF 2.1 and KML tags for folks familiar with spatial databases and geotagged photos.)
Has anyone figured out how negotiate the initial import capture management for Aperature with X-Pro1 RAF, please?  And perhaps the initial GPS Exif integration, too?
Thank you in advance for your time and considerations.

    Soholowat,
We're in somewhat the same boat, except I'm not interested in GPS integration. I do use the Adobe RAW converter in Photoshop CS6, and have used Lightroom 4 and SilkyPix to convert my RAW images, but am still waiting patiently for Apple to release their RAW converter for the X-Trans sensor, which I'm hoping will come with Aperture 4. However, it's all speculation, as Apple hasn't said anything at all about the subject that I'm aware of.
I've decided that the X-Pro1's jpegs are good enough for about 75% of the images I shoot on the camera (my primary camera is a Canon 5D Mark III, for which RAW is a must), but they're still not ideal. Space is not a concern, but workflow is.
    Thanks,
    Nick

  • RAW support new camera's - Fujifilm X-Pro1

As an experienced photographer, I've chosen Aperture over Lightroom. Reason was that I hoped for a better support of new camera's & features in the Mac-world (I don't like Adobe so much). To me, it looks to be an opportunity for Apple to beat Adobe in the support of the ever-changing market of camera's and that such a core-competence could easily appeal to a lot of new potential Aperture-users. Unfortunately, it feels to me like Apple is even conducting an even slower update policy than Adobe. Where is the in depth support for the RAW-formats of all those new camera's launched in the first half of 2012, including my own X-Pro1, a shining beauty that I still cannot bring to full exploit due to the problems I experience now with Aperture?

There are many takes on this:
    1. We ourselves are far too much driven to chase the cutting edge and also to a certain degree: to accept the shortcomings and quirks because we want to show up with the new model. Experience what noone has ever experienced before. Camera manufacturers know this very well. But in a certain way with photography, with bad software support, it's like you get a car with no wheels. You can put very tiny 'jpg-wheels' on it, but...?
    2. About the cutting edge: if you buy a camera now it is only fully there in reliable manner after firmware updates. Even the coffee-machine works like this now. But to my feeling, there's something else: zillions of features, all things we don't need, too much 'nice to have' even in professional stuff. Who ever asks for all these silly developments? I'm pretty sure this is one of the reason that indeed the subsequent Adobe/Apple support is so slow. When I read in forums the comments on my own camera, I can tell you that some people are really not seeing the point this is a camera, not a Playstation. I even don't want an Auto-iso setting, what's the use of such automation? Let the camera decide how much quality to lose out of any other option?
    3. Standardisation in this area could be a lot better. Why no RAW ISO-standard? Allow only gradual, well considered changes would probably speed up support. In theory is it, but of course be oposite to the 'cutting edge' - certainly in sensor design. Nevertheless, now every manufacturer can do what he want when it comes to RAW. By the way, under which definition falls RAW? Why is there than compression?
4, DNG could have been a solution, but it isn't. Since it appears to be merely a container. It also never really made it 'in the big market' except for Leica.
As a consumer, we can only pray for the next firmware update, the next Aperture & Lightroom update, and hope those big ones read every line we put in a forum like this...

  • Lightroom 4 on a MAC and Fujifilm X-Pro1 - can't read the RAF files

When I open the import dialogue the thumbnails are greyed out with "preview unavailable for this file".  I continue with the import, which fails, and the message that comes up is a list of the files and "The files are form a camera which is not recognized by the raw format support in Lightroom. (10).
My Lightroom 4 is an upgrade from Lightroom 3 (I upgraded because I thought the issue was with the versio of lightroom I was running).
Is anyone else having issues with RAF file support?

Wow.  Not the answer I was hoping for but at least i know know I have to return this camera.  I am a little surprised that Fujifil would ship a camera when the raw format can't be utilized.  Thank you for poiting me in the right direction Dorin.

  • Any experience of X-Pro1 raw files with Lr4.2?

I notice that the Fuji X-E1 will now be supported in 4.2 when the new camera becomes available. As this camera has an X-Trans sensor system similar to the X-Pro1, it would be interesting to know if any improvements in the raw conversion from that camera have been noticed since 4.2 landed.

Seeing your question, I tried re-processing a DPReview sample RAF from the Fuji X Pro 1 in ACR 7.2, and I see the same chroma smearing as in ACR 7.1.  I also went back to a user-provided sample of a coastal rock area and see the same "painterly" effect, so it appears Adobe has not gotten any more help from Fuji in processing RAFs from their newer sensors.
Here is the page with the DPReview sample JPGs and RAFs:

Here is a screen-shot showing the comparison of the current ACR 7.2 processing and the camera-JPG processing, that Fuji isn't helping Adobe figure out how to do:

  • RAW support for X-Pro1

Please keep on improving RAW processing for FujiFilm X-Pro1! That camera and its lenses deserve a top notch LR4 workflow and right now us happy X-Pro1 owners dearly miss the processing quality we enjoy with RAW files from our 'other' DSLRs...

I am pretty sure that Adobe is even more concerned with their inability to produce profiles/processing technics necessary to produce matching or superior results for your cameras raw files.
Fact is Fuji has produced a camera with new sensor structure/technology that is different to what has been the norm in the market. Their camera firmware / processing software that they have provided you with is achieving results that meet your needs.
This technology is in a very rapid stage of development and what you are seeing is the competitive nature of the manafacturer and a third party software developer. Fuji are probably proud of their achievement but are probably trying to protect against the entire market becoming aware of their processes.
I am sure all the manafacturers, Nikon, Canon, Olympus, Panasonic, Sony are doing the same, while trying to balance providing info to the third party software developers so that users of their preferred software are happy.

  • Classic Chrome in Lightroom 5.7.1

I have the lightroom stand alone version 5.7.1 installed, but i still cannot see the classic chrome simulation for fuji raf files from the x-t1 with firmware 3.00. any hints?

If its not there it means that Adobe has not created any additional profiles for your camera model, you should at least be seeing Adobe Standard. That would be the standard profile specific to your camera model.
Adobe began adding "Camera Matching color profiles in LR 5.4, ACR 8.4 see a quote from the release notes. You should at least see the ones mentioned, I do not know if "Classic Chrome" was included.
"Added Camera Matching color profiles (PROVIA/STANDARD, Velvia/VIVID, ASTIA/SOFT, MONOCHROME, etc.) for the following Fujifilm cameras:
    Fujifilm X-A1
    Fujifilm X-E1
    Fujifilm X-E2
    Fujifilm X-M1
    Fujifilm X-S1
    Fujifilm X-T1
    Fujifilm X-Pro1

  • DNG and Mountain Lion Question

I just upgraded to a new computer, from a Mac Pro running Lion to an iMac running Mountain Lion. Using Lightroom 5 on both of them. Everything went fine with the migration of the photographs and catalog and all is well in the Lightroom world.
I've been converting images from my Fuji RAF to DNG on import for the past six months or so.  For some reason, Finder on the Mountain Lion machine does't give me a preview of the DNG files.  It just shows the DNG icon.  However, the same image has a preview in the Finder in Lion.
Finder and Preview work fine with original RAF files on both machines.
Does anyone have an idea what the difference might be?

This may or may not be related to your problem but it is worth checking out.
In LR 4.4, ACR 7.4 Adobe had some major corrections to the profiles for Fuji cameras using the new X-Trans sensor. see the info below to info from Adobe.
    Changes to Existing Camera Support:
Camera Raw 7.4  includes a correction to the demosaic algorithms for  Fujifilm cameras with the X-Trans sensor. This specifically impacts the  following cameras:
    Fujifilm X-Pro1 (*)
    Fujifilm X-E1 (*)
    Fujifilm X100S
    Fujifilm X20
(*) Based on user feedback, the default sharpening amount applied to  Fujifilm X-Pro1 and Fujifilm X-E1 raw files has been increased between  Camera Raw 7.4 Release Candidate and the final Camera Raw 7.4 release.
Camera Raw 7.4 includes a correction to the demosaic algorithms for  Fujifilm cameras with the EXR sensor. This correction applies only to  raw images captured using the “EXR HR” mode with the following cameras:
    Fujifilm X10
    Fujifilm XF1
    Fujifilm X-S1
    Fujifilm S200EXR
    Fujifilm HS20EXR
    Fujifilm HS30EXR
    Fujifilm F550EXR
    Fujifilm F600EXR
    Fujifilm F770EXR
    Fujifilm F800EXR
If your raw files were converted to DNG using a prior version to LR 4.4 ACR 7.4 they may have been affected in some way.

  • Camera calibration profile. i dont get the option to chose landscape

Bought myself a Fujifilm Xs1 and like with my Canon i prefer to take shots in RAW.
Now the thing is in editing in lightroom i am not get the landscape option in camera calibration >profile just Adobe Standard as if i took the shot in jpeg
    any ideas ?

This is Quoted from the Lightroom Journal where the official word comes from Adobe for new functions. It was posted when LR 5.4 was released.
""Added Camera Matching color profiles (PROVIA/STANDARD, Velvia/VIVID, ASTIA/SOFT, MONOCHROME, etc.) for the following Fujifilm cameras:
    Fujifilm X-A1
    Fujifilm X-E1
    Fujifilm X-E2
    Fujifilm X-M1
    Fujifilm X-S1
    Fujifilm X-T1
    Fujifilm X-Pro1
    Fujifilm X10
    Fujifilm X20
    Fujifilm XF1
    Fujifilm XQ1
    Fujifilm X100
    Fujifilm X100S
New Lens Profile Support in Lightroom 5.4""
I think it may be worth the try to install the trial of LR 5.4 and see if the profiles become available for use with LR 4.4
Just a thought out of the box not sure if it will work.
Lightroom does not provide additional profiles for all cameras they support, most of the camera models supported only have their own "Adobe Standard" profile.

  • Aperture Expert is reporting that Digital Camera RAW 4.0.5 supporting Fuji sensors is out...

It should be available via Software Update.
    http://www.apertureexpert.com/tips/2013/4/17/digital-camera-raw-update-405-for-a perture-and-iphoto-fujifi.html
    New cameras supported:
    Fujifilm X20
    Fujifilm X100S
    Fujifilm X-E1
    Fujifilm X-Pro1
I would expect it would also be available for download here:
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/
But isn't there yet.  I guess there may be numerous fewer threads here related to Fuji now ;-)

The Mountain Lion raw support article also lists the update already - I had to remember to clear the Browser Cache to see it
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5371
And it was available at the AppStore for download more than an hour ago, but grouped with the pre-release software update, even if the update itself was not marked as pre-release seed.

  • Fuji x10 RAW support form july 2013 ?

Hello, I just find out that the raw file form my fuji x10 was not supported any more. But they was after raw update 4.05. Strange no ? Stranger the raw file disapear from iPhoto.

The list of supported cameras is here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5371
fuji x10 has never been officially supported; the raw update 4.05 http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1629
    added
              Fujifilm X20
              Fujifilm X100S
              Fujifilm X-E1
              Fujifilm X-Pro1
It was an accident, that it also worked for fuji X10.  Have you send feedback, that you want that "feature" back?

  • Lightroom and Fuji preset issue

I've updated the firmware on my Fuji X-E2 and have the option of using the Classic Chrome preset. However when I import the files into Lightroom I'm not given the option of using  Classic Chrome with the RAW file.
I am running Lightroom 5.7.1 on a Mac and under the Camera Calibration panel in the Develop Module I can access:
    Camera Provia
    Camera Velvia
    Camera Astia
    Camera Pro Neg Hi
    Camera Pro neg Std
    Camera Monochrome (Y, R and G)
I have version 8.7.1 of Adobe Camera Raw installed.
Can anyone please tell me why I can't see the Classic Chrome option (I believe it was introduced in Lightroom 5.7) and how to sort it?
    Many thanks.

Classic Chrome wasn't available for your camera in LR 5.7 and ACR 8.7, either, right, so it's not the case that it disappeared with the x.7.1 update, it's just that Adobe hasn't added it yet for the X-E2, yet.
