Fujifilm X-Trans support progress

Does Adobe thinks to improve the demosaicing method for Fujifilm X-Trans sensor in future? I'm sure they notice the thousands and thousands complains and I understand that the current demosaicing save the image from a different artifacts so I'm just asking is Adobe Staff working on this problem?
I found out that the last version of the raw support resolve the issue with the maze pattern due the green channels equilibration on Olympus which I'm grateful, but I hope it would not take that long to fix (if ever do) the problems with the Fujifilm X-Trans sensor.

Phase One support is now really out, so hopefully fuji will take this as a deal breaker and go for it. otherwise i have to switch and i really don't want to because of using LR a long time now.

  • Why is Lightroom 4 so bad at rendering Fujifilm X Trans RAW images?

Lightroom 4 is constantly put down as being very poor at rendering Fujifilm X Trans RAW files.  Fujifilm claims to have assisted Adobe with this new sensor design yet LR falls down hard.  Why is that?  Will it get better or are we stuck with what LR can do now?
    Does anyone have any idea?
    Thanks,

Lightroom/ACR has got a great deal better through its versions, at demosaicing and rendering conventional (Bayer) pattern Raw data. What we see now, is the outcome  of several years' continual development.
I expect the lessons from Bayer will shortcut this development and optimisation (quality and speed) for the new pattern. But it will still need to be done. I guess Fujifilm had expended a big effort on this, internally, before release - and Adobe now has to play catch-up after the fact.
IMO it is actually in Fujifilm's overall interest to rapidly assist Adobe here; it would surely improve the general acceptance of these camera models given the dominant positions of LR and of ACR in particular. At the moment it is probably holding them back in the marketplace.
Is there proof that Fujifilm is helping Adobe or is that speculation?

The answer to your question is currently "no."  Nobody here can say if or when that will change.

screw it.. i dunno... bad drivers, that's what i'm accounting it to. Nobody seems to know what the problem is anymore.
With that said, the card works wonderfully now =D
Someone on this board mentioned some third party drivers, so I went and found them. I had no troubles installing and have had no troubles with the drivers
since their installation a few days ago.
These drivers are not supported nor created by Creative (as far as I know). Use the drivers at your own risk.
First, go to this address and read up on their drivers and how to install and what not. All the posts you should care about are sticked, so read the stickies!
    http://www.youp-pax.org/forumdisplay.php?fid=3&page=
I noticed that the links to their drivers are lousy/don't work. Some nice person went and hosted all their files on a different site.
    http://hosted.filefront.com/robertmc84
Be very cautious when downloading their drivers from filefront. The host has numerous old versions up and the file names aren't always 00% copy/paste from
the YouP Pax site, so be certain you have the right file before downloading/installing.
READ THE STICKIED INSTALLATION GUIDE! Same thing as with the installing Creatives' drivers, if you don't completely uninstall former drivers, bad things happen.

  • HT4757 When will Aperture support non-Bayer sensors like the Fuji x-trans and exr sensors?

I understand that Apple have the specs of the Fujifilm x-trans sensors, and they must have had specs of EXR sensor for ages. When can we expect proper raw support for these excellent cameras?

No one here has any more information than you do.

  • Camera Raw does not support fujifilm HS50EXR Raw file.

I'm using Lightroom 5.5 and Adobe Photoshop CC (having camera raw version 8.1.0.14). I've downloaded some raw files of fujifilm HS50EXR from http://www.photographyblog.com/reviews/fujifilm_finepix_hs50exr_review/sample_images/ to try and check quality. But when I import those files to lightroom it says file seem to be unsupported. Also tried in Photoshop but same result. Adobe pages of supported camera raw (http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html) says fujifilm HS50EXR is supported in camera raw 7.4   and lightroom 4.4 . So why I am not able to open those raw of HS50EXR.

The first sample raw file for the HS50EXR (whatever_01.raf) on the PhotographBlog link you gave, above, works ok for me in PS CC 2014/ACR 8.5:
I don't have ACR 8.1, anymore, to test with.

  • Will there be an improvement of X-Trans RAW Files Developing in Lightroom?

Hey, dear Ladies and Gentlemen of Adobe!
I am very upset because of your lousy support of Fujifilm X-Trans RAW Files Developing in Lightroom. I spent a lot of money to buy Lightroom. Now this Software is not useable to me because it handles RAW Files of my Camera (Fujifilm X-T1) very unsatisfying.
It is not just me, you can read it all over the Internet. The Fujifilm X-T1 is a state of the art camera and delivers very good Pictures, but why - in the name of god - is lightroom handling it so lousy?!?
You are forcing me to look for another Software. I have tried a lot apps the last few days. And EVERYONE has a better result but Lightroom.
Even the to be discontinued Aperture by Apple has a far better result of developing that raw files. A small one-man Company named "Iridient Developer" has the best result i have ever seen with all that apps! To name them:
I tried Aperture, Iridient Developer, Photoninja, AccuRAW, Capture One, SilkyPix 5, and a lot more. All of them are making better, sharper, crispier Pictures than Lightroom 5.5. Yes, i have the latest Version.
The Pictures are like painted in Watercolors. No Details, no fine Structures. I am heavily disappointed!
I do not expect to get an answer with a satisfying solution. You already have my money. Why care about customers?!?

  • Has Lightroom been updated with a good RAW Converter that will work with Fujifilm X-T1 RAW files?

    Hello,
I just purchased a Fujifilm X-T1.  The camera produces excellent jpeg files.  However, I prefer processing my work in RAW.  Unfortunately, I'm having trouble deciding to upgrade with Adobe if their RAW converter is not up to par with Fuji.
Fujifilm renders images on their sensors differently than conventional Bayer sensors like Canon, Nikon, Olympus etc.  Fuji uses an X-tran sensor with pixels arranged in a different pattern.
This has presents a new challenge because now one has to buy a third party in order to process Fuji RAW files and this disrupts the workflow between Lightroom and Photoshop.
I really love using Adobe and hope they will come up with a fix for this.

  • Aperture , RAW Engine v6 and X-Trans?

What do we know, or how can we find out, what Aperture is up to with Fujifilm X-Trans RAW files?
We “know” that two of Aperture’s weaknesses are the lack of lens correction tools and less-than-state-of-the-art noise reduction control.
As best I understand it, Fujifilm includes lens correction data in their RAW files and decoding them results in files with Fujifilm’s corrections (distortion, chromatic aberrations, etc.) already fixed. That might be one weakness down. Is it true that Aperture does this?
The X-Trans sensor has pretty good low noise performance resulting in less noise at fairly high ISOs. So less noise reduction is needed. That looks like another weakness down.
Is there an objective source of information on how well Aperture handles X-Trans RAW conversions, especially on these two specific points, versus the competition (Lightroom and Capture One, mostly)?
What do folks on this forum know?

This post by Eric Chan from Adobe  is very imformative and reveals the reality of processing of raw files  not only from Adobe's perspective but for all software that processes  raw files from digital cameras. The thread is concerning Adobe's  processing raw files from a Panasonic Camera model in comparison to the  Camera's JPEG rendition.
I guess the same would hold good for the possibility of improved profiles for other cameras including the Fujifilm cameras.
"Sorry for joining this thread late.
Unfortunately  this is a limitation of our current color profile process. This  limitation actually applies to all of our camera models that we support,  not just Panasonic. What is happening is that the color transform we've  built is optimized mainly for daylight and incandescent light  conditions, but when applied to scenes with bright light sources  (especially neon lights, and especially blue/purple lights), the  transform will tend to oversaturate and clip those colors.
My  team is investigating how to build better profiles going forward, but  in the meantime, my main suggestion is to try reducing the  Red/Green/Blue Saturation sliders in the Camera Calibration panel (not  the HSL tab, and not in the Basic panel). This will help to reduce the  oversaturation and clipping, and will give you a better starting point  for further edits (Exposure, Contrast, etc.). As a shortcut, you can  store your Red/Green/Blue Saturation slider adjustments as a preset that  you can then apply quickly to other images you have that show the same  issue."

  • Mac mini on a LCD TV which does not support interlace mode

    Dear all,
I am going to buy a new Mac mini and I wish to connect it to a Samsung LCD TV 37A656A1F (serie 6.
The TV manual says that it does not support the interlace mode. I then deduce that it supports progressive mode only.
My question: Does it mean that this LCD TV model cannot be used as a monitor for a Mac mini?
Please give a help to me

All computer monitors are progressive mode displays. Therefore all computers, including the mini, are very comfortable running progressive mode. It is their natural state. It is more a problem when a computer has to run interlace mode in order to support a display. That is when there is trouble. So I think you have nothing to worry about if your Samsung runs in progressive mode.

  • Progressive Scan mode (DVD on Sharp Aquos LCD)

I want to use the Mac Mini as a DVD player on my 32" Sharp Aquos. Does anyone know if the Mac Mini supports progressive scan mode?
Also, has anyone run into issues connecting to the 32" Sharp Aquos LCD TV?
    Thanks
    Curt

Along the lines of progressive scan vs. interlaced... I've noticed while playing video from Quicktime I can make a selection to pick which one I prefer. I've got a project that I created in iMovie and I notice that if I were to share (export) a clip using the expert settings I can chose whether it is interlaced or progressive. However, when accessing those same .mov files in iDVD I don't see any settings that indicate whether the final DVD will be interlaced or progressive. From the looks of the footage viewing it on my computer it looks like it is interlaced. How can I create a DVD with this iMovie footage that ends up displaying as progressive?
    thanks for any advice.

  • Progressive video into DVD SP

Can you add progressive video to a DVD SP4 project?
I changed a 29.97 NTSC interlaced DV video to progressive video with Compressor 2 and I can't import it in a project in DVD SP 4. The accompanying .ac3 file imports OK.
I'm presuming it won't import because it is progressive video vs interlaced.
Does the DVD spec require interlaced video?
    Thanks,

Here is a quick and dirty explanation of why not to make your DVD with progressive video.
This from Jeff Bellune author of:
The Focal Easy Guide to Adobe ® Encore ™ DVD 2.0
"The video that is stored on an NTSC DVD-Video disc is stored as 29.97 fps interlaced video. To view the interlaced fields as progressive frames (like through the component outputs of a DVD player that supports progressive playback), the player has to internally de-interlace the video before sending it out. So there is no advantage to rendering or transcoding interlaced source video as progressive if you are going to DVD-Video."

    Hello ALL,
How should we show the progress bar in our forms screen so we can see how much work is remaining?
For example if we are performing some task through forms, what code and on which trigger we placed this code in order to show the progress bar that inform us about the task in progress.

Shouldn't the oracle forms' support the progress
    bar?
I prefer to have a code which shows progress bar on
    forms.
Can some one have this code ?
ThanksPJC progress bars are shown on the form and forms support progress bar and coding itit's relatively easy.
If I were you I would take Francois' advice and type in "progress bar" in the lil search box :)
It's a wonder what a lil search can show you
