Full Backup - missing Applications

I have been doing a Full backup on a fairly regular Basis ever since getting into the Blackberry Community.  The old is my second Blackberry and so far I thought everything was running smoothly.
I recently suffered a Catastrophe while doing an Upgrade that rendered my Phone Useless...  Everything was gone...  And to this day I don't know what happened...
I thought I was SAFE...  I had JUST done a full backup only an hour before doing the upgrade...  Something I always do...
Well when I finally got the phone "Working" and tried to do a restore I got back all my Data...  Yippee..!!   But none of the APPS I had installed over the time I owned the phone were there...  THEY were never restored.
What is the story here..??  Am I doing something wrong in my Backups or did I do something wrong in the restore.??  In either case I had to down load apps One at a time and reinstall them which wasn't easy  because I didn't know the Names of all of them...
What do I need to do to keep this from happening again...  HOw do I backup the Applications from my phone.
Any Help is appreciated..

Your normal backup using the BlackBerry Desktop Software does not backup third party applications.
You can use BBSAK to do that, separately.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

  • Time Machine missing full backups - Need help.

I was going to restore my Imac from Time Machine, and when I went to restore, its last full backup was from December 25, 2009 and nothing from 2010. I had checked it recently and saw backups images from January. Is there anything i can do? If i restore from the 25th, will my images from January February still be there?

Are you doing a full system restore, booting from your Leopard Install disc?
If not, please explain just what you're doing.
If so, there are two possibilities:
Did you rename or replace your internal HD after 12/25? If so, those are treated as two separate disks; thus there may be two drives in the "pop-up menu" above the list of dates. See item (f) in question #14 of the Frequently Asked Questions *User Tip,* also at the top of this forum.
Have you excluded any System files from Time Machine backups? If so, you cannot do a full system restore (since you didn't back up the entire system).
Where are your backups, and why are you restoring? If your Mac is still functional, try looking at your backups with the Browse option, per #17 of the FAQ Tip, to see just what's there.

  • Unable to do a Full backup due to missing archived Files

I had setup everything to do a full backup and when the job started, it failed. It seems not able to find the archived file.
I had deleted the archived File earlier due to low storage space. Can anybody advised me ? Thanks in advance.

The RMAN Crosscheck command only validates that what RMAN thinks is backed up really is.
The Change archivelog all validate is what you need to run when you delete archivelogs before they have been backed up by RMAN.
If you have to restore a backup that was made before you deleted the archive logs, you will not be able to perform a full recovery.
You may want to consider running just archivelog backups more often and have RMAN delete them after they have been successfully backed up. In Oracle9i Release 2, there is an option to delete the archive logs after they have been backed up X number of times in case you want the logs duplex archivelog backups.

  • 1,000 pictures from iPhone 5s now missing on my iPhone6, despite a full backup/restore prior.

I have just migrated from an iPhone 5s (iOS7) to an iPhone 6.
I did a full backup of the 5s to iCloud.
When I started the iPhone 6 I did a restore from the iPhone 5s iCloud backup.
I understand that there is no actual 'Camera Roll' on the iPhone 6 but the iPhone 5s had the following folders:
    Camera Roll           1,401 pictures
    My Photo Stream      999 pictures
    Panoramas               1 picture
    Videos                         13 videos
    Instagram                    217
I would expect all of this content to be backed up and transferred when I restore.
This same problem happened when I went for 4 to 5 and I let it go but this time I'm not prepared to live with it.
I can just about live with the silly decision to remove the Camera Roll with no explanation or better function but not with losing 70% of my pics.
    Hopefully theres a simple explanation!

    wacbert wrote:
That's a wake up call on photostream, and I'm sure there's a lot of users in the same boat, they should be clearer about that.
The photostream limits are clearly explained, 1000 photos, 30 days. It has always been that way.
    wacbert wrote:
It's also an issue now there is no Photostream on iOS8?
Photostream is present in IOS8, same functions, same limits.
iCloud backups from an IOS device do not include photos.
Your iOS device backup only includes data and settings stored on your device. It doesn’t include data already stored in iCloud, for example contacts, calendars, bookmarks, mail messages, notes, shared photo streams, My Photo Stream, and documents you save in iCloud using iOS apps and Mac apps.

  • RMAN Backup Issue when Full backup file was missing

    Hi,
On : 11.2.0.2 version, Recovery Manager
    RMAN Backup issue
Last week we had the NFS Issue where we backup the files onto NFS.
The problem occurred in the below sequence
    Saturday the backup was successful
Saturday before deleting the backup files they are copied to tape
Deleting the backup files via OS command
Sunday Full backup started but due the NFS issue backup failed(Killed the instance and restarted)
Did the RMAN Incremental backup which worked on Monday
On Tuesday RMAN started complaining and started doing the Full backup.
no parent backup or copy of datafile 1 found
no parent backup or copy of datafile 3 found
no parent backup or copy of datafile 24 foundSony any idea why the Incremental backup worked on Monday but not on Tuesday
    Regards
    NM

Ok here is why I would like exact filenames..
    1) to speed the time of recovery. I am much more familiar with traditional recovery methods than RMAN, and while I myself installed and suggested RMAN for backups, our other (11i) database does not use RMAN and so I am more familiar with traditional recovery. So to be able to recover quickly I want to have these files as close as possible to the original names so that I can use my standard script (from a trace file) to recreate the control fiile. If I can get RMAN to spit out the filies with original names but keep RMAN for making the backup, I may ditch the rman bacjup script in chron and write a traditional hot backup script which copies the files the old fashioned way.
    2) to reduce cloning time. The RMAN duplicate command is not as good as I thought. I was actually easier for me to restore RMAN backups first to a box that has all the same paths, and THEN shutdown (cold) these files and copy them cold to another server, and restore from there. Agaiin if I can get the original file names, I could choose to do recovery either way (RMAN or traditional) in a real emergency instead of being forced to use rman.
    3) to be able to switch to a backup file in the FRA without having to rename it. Seems logical if it is already named correctly.
    thanks ! Marvi

  • Database restore from backup--miss some transaction log backup files. How to restore?

One database with full recovery model
it runs full backup at 12:00 am on 1/1 one time.
Then transaction log backup every 3 hours. 3:00 am, 6:00am,9:00 am, 12:00 Pm, 3:00Pm,6:00PM,9:00pm,12am......
If we can't find 3:00 am, 6:00am, 9:00am transaction log backup files, could we still restore to 6:00am? We still have all transaction log backup files after 12:00Pm.

NO..log files are incremental and connected. If any log file is missing you cannot restore  to point which comes after backup which is lost or damaged.Like u miss 3 AM trn log backup now even if you have 6,9,12 AM trn log backups its of no use .

  • Time Machine Deleted Files From A Non-Full Backup?

OK... I just noticed something strange... I had some movie files that I deleted sometime yesterday (don't need them anymore)... just now, I wanted to see to retrieve one of them with TM and they're gone!
My backup drive is nowhere near full and TM didn't warn me about deleting anything... looking at my backups, I noticed that I only have backups for yesterday at 8:03AM and from 8:09PM (and on)... I'm guessing that's the case because anything before 8:09PM is now more than 24 hrs old... hence, it's 'thinned out'... I also noticed that I only have my initial backup from Friday... not the several it made afterwards... and that backup from Friday is missing some data I had that was captured by the later backups...
What's going on here? Seems to me that it should have all of my stuff, no?

    jdelima wrote:
If you have all of the hourly data essentially versioned and incorporated into the daily, then Joe wants to restore from 3 days ago, if he has a file there that he has changed every single hour for that particular day, then he has 24 possible files to restore! It becomes a versioning nightmare. Though my example is extreme it's possible.
Yeah, but that is what computers are good at, though. You can even put a simple UI on this, where the most recent version (the last edited version before its untimely deletion) is the only thing you see, unless you want to delve deeper into the depths of versions of the file.
Also consider what is currently done for backups. People manually, or to a schedule, do point in time backups. Not as frequently as time machine, but it still happens. They have the exact same issues, with the exception that TM may have people becoming relaxed about their data, falsely believing it always going to be in a backup set somewhere.
Yeah, point-in-time backups are always an issue, because they are just a snapshot, and not a journal of things done to change a file, so you can't recover something if it was never in a point-in-time backup.
Sure it has it's flaws, but overall it's better there than not.
I totally agree with that. Getting people to use some backup (even if flawed) is way better than the dismal state of backups for end users. I guess I'm just advocating for improving even further the state of backups, to a point where you can actually rely on them 99.999%.
In case anyone is interested, I have been participating in an Open Source backup project "Box Backup" for the last few years. It supports the keeping of deleted files as long as the backup server has space left. It also solves another TM problem, in that it backs up only what changed in a large file (like a Parallels virtual Disk), so you don't need to do full backups of every file every time it changes. It has many other features as well, such as network backups, encrypted backups, and multiple platform support (Windows, Mac, Linux, and more).
Go to http://www.boxbackup.org/ to check it out.
This, however is not a solution (yet) for the average Joe to use. It requires a server on which to run the backup server (which could be a Mac), and some setup, and use of Terminal.app, etc. But it does solve many of the issues with TM.
    Thanks,

  • PSE 11 freezes when calculating total media size during a full backup

Like many other users on these boards, I am unable to complete a full backup of a particular catalog on my machine using PSE 11 (or PSE 10 for that matter). I have four catalogs on this machine and three of the four complete the full backup process without any problems. That last, non-cooperating, catalog is much larger (7,389 photographs) than the others, but I do not think that this would pose a problem.
Following other advice and guidance, I have removed all videos, audios, projects, PDFs, and audio captions (in other words, all media types other than photographs) from the catalog. The only files remaining are photographs (that is, JPG files). I attempt to complete a full backup and, when calculating the total media size, the PSE 11 application freezes at five to six percent. I have attempted this in PSE 10 as well, but with the same results. (I was hoping that the new release would fix the problem. No luck.)
The only other item of note is this, when I search for the various media types, I see the message "no media to be displayed" in the middle of the organizer window. However, when I search for video, I do not see the message--the organizer window is blank (no text message as seen for the other media types).
Lastly, I have reconnected all missing files. (None.) Optimized the catalog. Fixed errors in the catalog anyway. (None.)
Does anyone have any other ideas on how I can complete a full backup of this catalog? A large cash reward awaits... (kidding). Please advise. Thank you!

I found that backing up with other software does not maintain the stacks, versions and albums. These are lost, even if I write the metadata to the files...that only keeps the tags, in my experience. PSE 12 doesn't fix the problem so no need to upgrade unless you want to for other reasons.
I do have a solution that worked for me. There are quite a few steps but worth the effort if it also solves your problem.
The main culpret in my case were "Locked / Read Only" files. Since I did several things simultaneously, I may have had video file issues as well.
Here is what worked for me:
    A. First: Save your "Meta Data to Files".
    1. On the Organizer Main Screen click "File" -- "Save Metadata To Files"
    B. You can have Adobe find files that it doesn't like by having it search your "Pictures" directory.
    1. On the Organizer Main Screen click "File" -- "Get Photos and Videos" -- "By Searching".
    2. Find your "Pictures" directory in the "Look in" drop down box & click on it.
    3. Click "Search"
    4. When the "Search results" are complete, click "Select All" -- "Import Folders".
    5. A "Getting Media" dialog box shows the results.
    6. Click the "Reason" header to sort the results.
    7. Scroll down to display any errors that Adobe finds.
    8. Make note of the "path" and "file name" under the "File" header.
    9. Use Windows Explorer to find and fix the issue(s). Look for "Read Only", "Locked", "Archived" or "Hidden" files and change the attribute. I believe that these are part of the problem.
    10. Check for non-picture or video files that Adobe can't handle and move or delete the offending files.
Note: I have files with these extentions and they work: AVI, BMP, CR2, GIF, JPG, MTS, MOV, PDF, PNG & TIF.
Note: I had: ZIP, TGA, SHS & PPT files that I moved or deleted. Adobe shouldn't import files it can't handle, but I removed them just to be sure.
    11. Try your backup again.
    C. If the above doesn't work you can narrow down the issue by trying to back up the database selectively by Photos, Video, Audio, Projects or PDF.
Note: Many people believe that "Video" is the culpret, so I suggest that you rule that out first by removing your Video files from your catalog. This does not delete them from the hard drive. They can be added back into the catalog but there may be some loss of information for Stacks, Versions or Albums so remove Photos from the catalog as a last resort .
    1. On the Organizer Main Screen click "File" -- "Manage Catalogs".
    2. Click "Current Catalog".
    3. Click "Repair" in "Catalog Manager"
    4. Click the check box "Reindex Visual Similarity Data".
    5. Click "Repair Anyway".
    6. When complete, click "Optimize" in "Catalog Manager".
    7. Click "Cancel" in "Catalog Manager".
    8. On the Organizer Main Screen click "View" -- "Media Types".
    9. Uncheck all but the "Video" option.
Note: "Photos", "Audio", "Projects" & "PDF" will be unchecked and you will only see "Video" files displayed.
    10. Click "Edit" -- "Select All"
Note: Be cautious during the next few steps.
    11. Click "Edit" -- "Delete from Catalog".
    12. Caution! - DO NOT click the "Also Delete The Selected Items From The Hard Disk" check box.
Note: You don't want to delete the video files from the hard disk you only want to remove them from the catalog.
    13. Click "File" -- "Backup Catalog" and complete the backup to the desired location.
Note: You may have to resolve some missing file(s) issues
Note: Hopefully you now have a backup of all your photos.
    14. Assuming that this was successful, you then know that video files are the culprets and have to go digging. You can selectively add them back by type.
    15. If not successful, you will have to selectively add (rescan) or remove (as above) the media types until you find the one(s) that created the issue. Remove "Photos" last to avoid information loss.
    Good Luck!

  • Problems with DUPLICATE DATABASE when datafile was added after full backup

    Hi,
I'm facing a problem when performing database duplication with the RMAN duplicate database command on a 10g database. If I preform the duplication from a full backup that is missing a datafile which was added to the database after the full backup, I get the following error message:
    Starting restore at 10-10-2009 18:00:38
    released channel: t1
    released channel: t2
    RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
    RMAN-00569: =============== ERROR MESSAGE STACK FOLLOWS ===============
    RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
RMAN-03002: failure of Duplicate Db command at 10/10/2009 18:00:39
RMAN-03015: error occurred in stored script Memory Script
RMAN-06026: some targets not found - aborting restore
RMAN-06100: no channel to restore a backup or copy of datafile 43The redo log which was CURRENTat the time of the datafile's 43 creation is also available in the backups. It seems like RMAN can't use the information from the archived redo logs to reconstruct the contents of datafile 43. I suppose that because the failure is reported already in the RESTORE and not in the RECOVER phase, so the archived redo logs aren't even accessed yet. I get the same message even if I make a separate backup of datafile 43 (so a backup that is not in the same backupset as the backup of all other datafiles).
From the script the duplicate command produces, I guess that RMAN reads the contents of the source database's controlfile and tries to get a backup which contains all the datafiles to restore them on the auxiliary database - if such a backup is not found, it fails.
Of course if I try to perform a restore/recover of the source database it works without problems:
    RMAN> restore database;
    Starting restore at 13.10.09
using target database control file instead of recovery catalog
    allocated channel: ORA_DISK_1
    channel ORA_DISK_1: sid=156 devtype=DISK
    creating datafile fno=43 name=F:\ORA10\ORADATA\SOVDEV\SOMEDATAFILE01.DBF
channel ORA_DISK_1: starting datafile backupset restore
channel ORA_DISK_1: specifying datafile(s) to restore from backup set
    restoring datafile 00001 to F:\ORA10\ORADATA\SOVDEV\SYSTEM01.DBF
.....The datafile 43 is recreated and then redo is applied over.
So, does anyone know if duplicate database can't use archived redo logs to recreate the contents of a datafile as a normal restore/recover does? If it's so, then it means it's necessary to perform a full database backup before every run of duplicate database if a datafile was added after such a backup.
Thanks in advance for any answers.
    Regards,
    Jure

    Hi Jure,
I have hit exactly the same problem during duplication.
Because we backup the archive logs every 6 hours with rman I added an extra run block to this script.
    run
    backup incremental level 0
    format 'bk_%d_%s_%p_%t'
    filesperset 4
    database not backed up;
(I also than hit a bug in the catalog which was solved by patching up the catalog dbs from 11.1.0.6 to 11.1.0.7.)
This will narrow down the datafile not being part of any rman backup to 6 hours while skipping datafiles for which a backup already exists.

  • Took full backup before factory reset, but restore hasn't given much back

    Hi,
Due to having trouble (suspected software) with my home button, I got a full reset at the genius bar.
Because I knew that was likely, I took a full backup on my PC via iTunes.  iTunes said that doing so would take a complete copy of my iPad.
On bringing my iPad back from the shop, I restored from the backup, but I now only have a handful of apps and little if any of the content.
I had essential stuff also backed up via iCloud, so this isn't a disaster, but I'm rather surprised that a "complete" backup would actually only entail about 5% of what was on there, and I'm wondering whether I've missed something as I suspect the weak link here may be me.
    Any bright ideas?
    Many thanks.
    Tom.

Is this how you did the restore?

    13. Connect iPad to iTune (make sure iTune is on standby)
    14. Tap Continue (computer)
    15. Restore iPad from Backup (computer)
    16. See progress bar with estimated time (computer)
    17. See Restore in Progress on iPad

  • Recover HTML DB Aplication From a Oracle Full Backup

I lose all my instance becauae a disk problem, but i Have a Full Oracle Backup, I nned to recover my HTML DB Aplication , What I did I restore the FLOWS_FILES Schema,FLOWS_010600 Schema and User WorkSpace Schemas but the same Packege on the FLOWS_010600 Schema are with error.
How Can IRecover HTML DB Aplication From a Oracle Full Backup ??

Before I answer this, let me preface this with the fact that this is NOT a formal answer from support.
I wrote substantial portions of the installer for HTML DB. While others have worked on it more recently than I, I know the process better than just about anyone but Joel.
From my perspective, you have 2 choices right now:
    1. Full Restore of your database
    2. Reinstall HTML DB
With option 2, you could restore just the flows_xxxxxx schema to another instance and use the java code documented on this forum to export your app. If you already have your apps backed up, then this is a simple answer. Reinstall HTML DB and import your apps.
The first problem with your current approach is that there are dozens of explicit object privilidges granted to the flows_xxxxxx user, to the flows_files user and between those 2 users. The second problem is that there are ~85 public synonyms that you are missing. There are also private synonyms between the 2 schemas that you are missing. There are likely other issues that I'm missing, but in summary, you are not likely to succeed with your current approach (that is not challenge, just trying to get you up and running as fast as possible).
    Thanks,
    Tyler

  • Full Backup stops before it starts

trouble backing up catalog with PSE8 on 64bit Windows 7
    Step 1 - I select Full Backup
it starts calculating total media size, gets to 25% and then shuts down program without any warning/reason.
    Anyone else have this problem?
    Thanks,
    Randy

    John,
I run the "connect missing files" app and it gives me a blank list
    - it doesn’t say no missing files, but it doesn’t show any  (not sure if that is normal)
I run full backup again and get it still shuts down at 25%  (organizer shuts down completely)
I've uninstalled and reinstall it but same thing

  • Attempt at Full Backup keeps crashing

When I attempt a full backup through PE8, at the window where its "calculating total media size", the program always stops working, crashes and the adobe crash report window pops up. I don't have any hope adobe will read or help, so here I am. I have no missing files to reconnect. The system info shows my catalog is on my 3rd drive which is where I want it. All the actual photos are stored on my 2nd drive if that makes a diff.

That doesn't make a difference. Please verify that the place where you are taking the backup has enough space.

  • Upgraded to 11.2.0.2 and can't take a full backup now

    Hi!
I'm new to this forum (and SAP) so hopefully i"m posting in the right place.  My role is Database Administrator.
I upgraded a test database to 11.2.0.2 using the DBUA and now am unable to get a full backup of the database.  Backups are fine in the dev database that was upgraded - a cron job calls a .ksh script which calls BRBACKUP.
BR0252E Function fopen() failed for '/oracle/$/.saparch$arch1_659_748560082.dbf' at location main-27
BR0253E errno 2: No such file or directory
It's looking for archive log 659, which hasn't been written to the saparch directory - the archive logs written out only go up to sequence 658.
I opened an SR with Oracle, and they said that because the backup is being done with an SAP tool, I should be looking to SAP for support.
A lot of the BR0252E errors that I've seen online seem to be related to permissions.  Another thing of importance to note is that my Exceed session with the DBUA crashed when I remoted in from home to finish the upgrade.  I checked error logs and didn't see any errors, so proceeded with the upgrade and the database is healthy.  Could there be a saproot.sh script that I missed running, even though I'm not getting a permissions error?
    Thanks for your assistance!
    Erin

    Hi,
    Read this sap note
Note 952080 - BR*Tools fail with BR0252E Function stat() failed
    [https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=952080]
    Symptom
BR*Tools fail with the following error messages:
BR0252E Function stat() failed for 'origlog' at location BrDiskStatGet-1
BR0253E errno 2: No such file or directory
BR0277E Determination of disk volume status for origlog failed
    Other terms
    BR*Tools
    Reason and Prerequisites
The problem is caused by configuration problems with soft links.
    Solution
Due to technical reasons, BR*Tools does not accept relative soft links in the SAPDATA_HOME directory. The following soft links cause the above mentioned errors:
    /oracle/SID/origlogA -> origlog
    /oracle/SID/sapdata9 -> sapdata
    Use absolute soft links instead:
    /oracle/SID/origlogA -> /oracle/SID/origlog
    /oracle/SID/sapdata9 -> /oracle/SID/sapdata
    Thanks
    Siva
