Full bars, in and out connectivity, big problems...

Hi,
So I live in a New York City apartment where there is bound to be plenty of interference. The apartment is fairly big too so there is a decent amount of space to cover. I keep buying more things, assuming they will help, which to a certain degree they do, but nothing has ever been completly solved and I know there has got to be a solution.
Right now we have an airport extreme base station in the living room. My father's powermac g5 is hardwired via ethernet to this. We have a Dr. Bott Extendair Omni attached to the basestation. THEN, we have an airport express to relay the signal in my father's office and yet another airport express about 20 feet away, across the hall, in my room, to relay the signal once again.
For the first time I get consistant full bars in my room. When the door's open I can connect to the internet, but its fairly slow. I close my door and I get no connection, but I still have full bars. On the other side of the house my mom is connecting to the network via her powerbook g4. She also gets consistant full bars and decent speed connection.
All of this gear seems a bit excessive to begin with, but to not even have a perfect, fast running network with it all -in a space not that big - seems rediculous. We do have 2.4 ghz phones, but I did a test one day, unplugged them all, and saw no change. Just to be safe, I removed the 2.4 phones from my room and my father's office.
Finally, I'm not 100% sure that the airport expresses are doing their job relaying the signal. In the airport drop down menu I only see one "home" which is our network. But I installed MacStumbler to check things out in more detail and saw 2 "home" networks - each with a different MAC address. I'm not sure what that's about.
Sorry for the long post, but as you can see this is a fairly large, ongoing, issue that I would really love to resolve.
Powermac G5 Mac OS X (10.4.7) Airport Extreme Base Station and 2 Airport Express

...in the airport admin utility, under the Internet tab on both AX's it says connect using Airport (WDS), but on my base station it says connect using Ethernet. This is correct, correct?

Also, I just noticed on the AX's in the airport admin utility under the Airport tab, in the section that says Airport Network - the wireless mode is set to Create a Wireless Network (home router) and not join an existing wireless network (wireless client). Is this the correct setting?
I believe that is correct. WDS directions are in KB 107454, AirPort Extreme and Express: Using WDS to create a network from multiple base stations.
And lastly, I just tried to change the channel, but it comes up saying, "This base station is currently set up in WDS. Changing the channel will disconnect the WDS." Do I want to disconnect the WDS? Will this mess other things up?
It's a warning that you are going to need to change all of the base stations to the same channel for WDS to continue to work.

Yes, yes, yes... I've gone through all the common sense trouble shoots. Would't be here asking questions if that answers existed on the net. Sorry if I sound a bit edgey, but I've had nothing but issues with every update since IOS 7. Clearly there's nothing that can be done about this. and this is the final nail in the coffin to try to make me buy an Iphone 5.

Airport network connected on full bars but "no internet connection" and missing lock icon!

this is really frustrating!
I'm using wireless in my house. when i click on my network it connects and it shows perfect connection which is full bars.
on Network Preferences it says that i'm connected to the Airport but when i go to Safari it shows "You are not connected to the Internet" so i click on Network Diagnostic where the 3 network status on top has the green indicator but the ISP, Internet and Server show red and failed.
I don't think there's anything wrong with my internet connection since I'm able to go online using my sister's computer and also on my iPhone.
There's also usually a Lock icon/symbol next to my network's name but when i'm connected to my network the Lock icon seems to be missing but it still shows full bars connection. I really don't get how it's possible to be connected to a network, but no internet connection, while i can access the internet on other devices.
Please help me out here. I've tried ways like going to library>preferences then put the system configuration into Trash, and going to Network Preferences and removing the Airport service and creating a new one.
and one more thing. all mentioned above are when i clicked on Advanced on network preferences then i clicked on TCP/IP and changed the Configure IPv4 from Using DHCP to Manually. When i'm back to using DHCP there's an exclamation point over the airport icon on the top bar and it says no internet connection.

Got my own question answered by a colleague.
He had me create another "Location" in the network pane of System Preferences, then choose it and click Apply. I created a new location which I called 'Airport', chose it and clicked Apply and sure enough, an IP address showed up and all is well.
Justin said it's a network bug in Leopard.

Airport extreme and DI-624 big problems

heya. setting up a wireless home network. 2 laptops, one WindowsXP and a Powerbook G4 with built in airport wifi. Router is a d-link DI-624. latest firmware on the router. cable internet connection.
Router is set up with no security, pretty much all default options (channel 6 , mixed b/g mode) the Windows XP pc connects no problems. But the instant i turn on the Airport on the powerbook, the router will reset itself, and keep resetting itself every 10 seconds or so. if i turn off Airport, everything goes back to normal for the router.
tried using an ethernet cable, the exact same thing happens. router resets itself instantly and keeps resetting itself. so it's not just a wireless issue. i can only deduce its a setting on either the mac or the router that isnt compatible.
Under the Airport section i can actually see the the SSID of my network but it can't connect to it (router always rebooting itself).
any special options i need to change in the router, or on the mac? all help appreciated.

Based on a search of this issue on the internet, this seems to an often reported problem with the DI-624. Did you just purchase this router - ie can you still return it. If so, I suggest you get a different make/model. There is no need to put up with this sort of hassle when there are so many other great wireless router products out there.

3055 when printing pdf the text is full of symbols and rubbish. No problems when printing Word

I use Adobe 8.0 and never had problems before. Who can help me, this is driving me crazy! Printing Word is okay.

RemoteApp and Desktop Connections update problem 0x8007052e

In our company environment we are using Windows 2012 R2 based RDS farm deployment with 2 HA connection brokers(these 2 servers are also have Web access role installed). All client PC's have Windows 8 OS installed. We publishing remote application programs
for our users via RemoteApp and Desktop Connection. Everything works fine except on thing that time to time RemoteApp and Desktop Connection are not updating and shows this error:
Then we clicking "update now" system asking to enter credentials. After the entering domain username and password everything is updating. After this procedure updating works fine 2-4 weeks and then start failing again. Our users required
to change password every 3 months. That means password changing can't be the reason of this error.
Maybe it can be related with server rebooting? All RDS farm machines reboots once per month during the server patching

BE 3000 with Jabber (for Mac) and webex connect integration problems

This is my first question on the forum so please be gentle!
I have a customer who has a Business Edition 3000 and they have purchased WebEx connect and Jabber integration to go with it.
My problem is I am having difficulty getting the setup to work and I have a number of questions on how to set this up. Most of the docs on Cisco's website seem to be related to either CUCME or full CUCM, but not a lot on BE 3000. My questions are below:
1. I have been reading the documentation for WebEx connect and it states to set the IP address of the BE 3000 server in the Configuration>Additional Services>Unified Communications>Voicemail tab. This is currently on the network with a 192.168.x.x address however. My predecessor put this IP address in the WebEx configuration page but I'm not sure this will work with a private IP as I don't know how this communicates back. The documentation isn't very clear on this. Does this have to be a public IP address / FQDN for it to work?
2. Are there any SRNDs for this type of setup that could help? Again, looking through the website hasn't turned anything up yet.

Hi - I have done this via the admin portal but still cannot get the Jabber client for Mac to register for voice. The Windows version works fine for the same user and CUCM device. Are there any other settings that need to be enabled specific to the Mac client?

KVM with mini and out of box problem

#1 Just bought a refurbed mini, want to share kvm as I have in the past with a wintel laptop.
Anyone using a kvm controller with their mini? I've got a iogear with my existing wireless k/m and the mini doesn't like it very much. Sporadic mouse movements, and weird mouse type clicks happening when moving around menus(such as right click result on screen when hand isn't near the button).
I went to a wired mouse for a test as the kvm had a separate usb port for kybd and mouse...that hasn't completely solved the problem.
#2 I've got a 2nd problem which may be causing the keyboard issues. I unboxed my mini, started it and when prompted hooked up my old g4 mac as a target disk unit. The mini flawlessly transferred over all my email, programs, icon's, etc in a little under 2 hours. Rebooted and logged right in to my old environment! Very impressive. Patched it after that and it rebooted fine.
The other night, I turned it on, and the screen resolution was changed. Didnt think much of it thinking the kvm may be messing with it.
Two nights ago I checked my mail and walked away for a while..upon my return it locked. Held pwr key in until it shutdown and went to bed. Last night I turned it on, got the "Osx has recovered.." message. Cleared that and as soon as I opened mail it crashed again(getting the your computer has encountered a problem black box error..). Restarted tried my IM client...crash.... reboot, try firefox...crash.
I haven't tried booting and repairing disk permissions yet. Any other thoughts?

I use a TrendNet KVM with my Mini and PC.
Empirically I've concluded that a wireless mouse is not a good idea with this setup; I use a wired USB mouse now.
I had to try a couple of KVM brands before I found a good fit. Even so, occasionally I get a key repeat from a single key press, but otherwise everything is fine.
My experience has been that any kind of PS/2->USB adapter used with a KVM is a bad idea. The fewer converters the better.
I'd recommend not using the KVM until you get your other issues with the Mini sorted out.
It is possible that migrating your settings from other Mac is causing some of your problems.

C6-00 internet connection BIG problem

Hi . i have this isue , when i try to browse , update, or any operation that needs internet connection, my phone give me a mesage ( no connection). Sometimes it asks me to choose some other connection or put it to automatic. i have WIFI at home and when i try to use it with C6 , the phone says ( no connection ) but the icon that is for using the connection flashes on the top right corner and it wont turn off. Even if i go to MENU > setings>....> connections . there is no active using of WIFI . My phone cant update ( if the problem is from the software ) it cant do nothing.
I dont want to sell it for that , but in that condition there is no difference between C6_00 and 3310
Please someone to help my sick phone.

Yes, this is a huge problem that was brought up months ago. Adobe has still not provided an update or fix for it. It seems to be a problem between Encore and the Leopard version of Quicktime. (So maybe Adobe and Apple are both just hoping the other one will fix it while we keep getting frustrated!)

/dev/zero:mmap failed and out of space problems

Hi All
I have a sun-Fire v240 with Solaris 10. Created 4 zones and trying to running our application software in each of the zones. After running the applications for some time, in some of the zones one application process gets /dev/zero:mmap failed message and aborts. Also when the Java VM tries to start it is not able to allocate object heap space and aborts and causes the zone to reboot. I tried by increasing maxusers but to avail.

IPhone 6 and 6 Plus "big" problem, is there any proven solution?

I'd like to know if there is any good solution to the size problem. Most people, other than NBA players, can't really handle the 6 Plus one-handed as we know. But using it one-handed is so desired sometimes, for example when carrying coffee in one hand, and phone in the other texting friends. So is there any way to do this simple and common task?

Someone will surely suggest that if the phone is too large for your hand, perhaps you should get a smaller one.
The better answer would be that the phones have a feature called reachability, which shifts the screen down when you double touch the home button. You can read about it in the iOS 8 user guide.

IPad 3 keeps saying it can't connect to cell network even though I've got full bars

My iPad 3 is on the O2 network in the UK. Pretty much every day on my commute or whenever I go onto 3G as opposed to wifi I will have full bars, an apparently strong connection, but the iPad will insist it can't connect to the Internet because there's no active cell connection. I have tried every trick in the book to get it to recognise the network that it can clearly see perfectly well, but the only thing that works is turning the device properly off and on again.
It actually happened while I was writing this message in fact: surfed to this page, wrote the post, pressed Submit and the iPad old me there was no Internet. Had to restart and repost.
Anyone else seeing this?

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

Airport Extreme, Full Bars No Connect?

Please forgive me if this has been answered, but I can't find it. I recently moved and changed service providers from Bellsouth DSL to Cable. I've tried reconfiguring my Base Station with no success. I have 2 lap tops and a Iphone ...They all show my network and full bars, but none will connect? I would like to have internet connected directly to my tower, then out of my tower to the base station. I'm pretty sure this worked for me prior to the move (Basically I don't want my tower to connect wirlessly). I'm not sure what I need to do. Please help.

First configure your network as I described in my last reply.
Then setup your AEBS as follows...
AirPort Extreme Base Station Setup (AEBS) w/High-Speed Cable Modem
Perform a "hard" reset of the AEBS

Modem/Router Power ReCycling
o Power-off the Cable modem, AEBS, & computer(s); Wait for at least 30 minutes.
o Power-on the Cable modem; Wait at least 15 minutes.
o Power-on the AEBS; Wait at least 5 minutes.
o Power-on the computer(s)
Setup the AEBS
Either connect to the AEBS's wireless network or temporarily connect your computer directly (using an Ethernet cable) to the LAN port of the AEBS, and then, using the AirPort Admin Utility, try these settings:
AirPort tab
o Base Station Name: <whatever you wish or use the default>
o AirPort Network Name: <whatever you wish or use the default>
o Create a closed network (unchecked)
o Wireless Security: Not enabled
o Channel: Automatic
o Mode: 802.11b/g Compatible
Internet tab
o Connect Using: Ethernet
o Configure: Using DHCP
o WAN Ethernet Port: Automatic
Network tab
o Distribute IP addresses (checked)
o Share a single IP address (using DHCP & NAT) (enabled)
Once you verified that you can get Internet access for all of your computers, you should secure your wireless network. To do so, I suggest that you make these changes:
Change Wireless Security
o Wireless Security: WPA2 Personal
Base Station Options - WAN Ethernet Port
o Enable SNMP Access (unchecked)
o Enable Remote Configuration (unchecked)
o Enable Remote Printer Access (unchecked)
