Full Browser width slideshow ... can Muse do it (naitively)?

Hi All,
I'd like to place a full browser width slideshow into Muse.
Is there a simple clean way to do this?
I know there is a 'work around'  method (discussed at http://forums.adobe.com/message/5359472#5359472) , but I'd like to avoid it.
Many Thanks!
Gary

Muse supports full screen slideshow since the release of Muse 7. Take a look at the video here - http://tv.adobe.com/watch/muse-feature-tour/adobe-muse-november-2013-new-fullscreen-slides how/.

  • BROWSER WIDTH SLIDESHOW on ADOBETV OR WHAT???

So there seems to be much discrepancy over whether or not it's possible to create a full-size slideshow within MUSE. I recently watched Terry White's video on Parallax Scrolling and in the video was yet again another example of a full-screen slideshow:
    http://tv.adobe.com/watch/creative-cloud-for-design/discover-new-parallax-scrolling-with-a dobe-muse-cc/
(i'm sure we've all seen many examples)
Unfortunately.. I still can't get it to work.. So please.. somebody, please settle this for me.. Can I create a browser width slide show and if so, how on earth do I do it?

Actually, there is no full screen slideshow in Terry's video. What is in Terry's video are a number of 100% browser width rectangles that contain background images that are set to "Scale to Fill". These are arranged in panels vertically as you scroll down on his one page site. Because they are within 100% browser width rectangles and set to "Scale to Fill" they will resize when the browser window is resized in width.
That said, support for full browser window slideshows is a common request. While it is not among the new features in the June release, it is on our "To Do" list.
Until there is native support in Muse, there are at least a couple approaches I've encountered for achieving, or simulating, a full browser window slideshow in Muse.
    1) Create a slideshow, send it to the back and pin it to the top center of the browser window.
The hero images in the slideshow will be fixed size, so this is a simulation and a visitor on a Cinema Display will be able to resize the browser window wider than you'll likely want to set the width of the hero images, but this approach can be used effectively for some designs and is easily achieved fully within Muse.
    2) Leverage some degree of coding and manual uploading of files, along with a JavaScript library such as backstretch.
This thread <http://forums.adobe.com/message/5325056#5325056> contains a customer discussion of how to achieve a full browser window slideshow using backstretch.

  • Scalable/full-width slideshows in Muse

I am interested in creating a full-width slideshow in Muse, much like what is being employed on this website http://lafayetteny.com/
Previous threads from last year say it isn't possible - has this changed since?

    Hello,
Check these related threads that explain how to create full width slideshows:

  • Full browser width image with tiled pattern not previewing or publishing.

Using the rectangle tool to create a full browser width image, I filled it with a tiled pattern and added a drop shadow. This 80px tall rectangle serves as the background bar of my top menu navigation. Everything looks great when building in Muse CC, but when I go to preview or publish, it's missing altogether.
    Any ideas?

Looks like you have deleted the site now. If you were experiencing any errors during publish, most likely it happened due to the recent outage with BC with loading of assets to sites hosted on US DC - http://status.businesscatalyst.com/.

  • Muse 7.0 plus Chrome: browser does not show images full browser width

    Hi there,
I have a serious problem with the latest Muse version: the images which I use as parallax-masks for the background won't work with Chrome, though Safari and Firefox are not showing any problems. The issue: Chrome does either not scale the images to 100% browser-width or does not show them at all, or even shows the images cut into narrow stripes. This problem did not show in the previous version of Muse.
Of course I already restarted application and computer. System: Mac OSX Mavericks.
What to do now? The presentation with the client is very soon and this bug makes me very nervous.
    Best,
    bartl

The problem bartl encountered and reported was fixed by the 7.1 release (November 21st). The problem you're describing sounds different.
As of yet, I'm unable to reproduce what you're describing. The URL you've provided views the same in all the browsers I've tried, Chrome (32.0.1700.77) and non-Chrome, Mac and Windows.
That said, looking at your master page I don't think you've created what you intended. At present there are two full screen slideshows on your A-master. On contains no images and the other contains a single image. Both are set to have thumbnails and the thumbnails container is off the right side of the page.
If you look at your "Master Slideshow" layer in the Layers panel, you'll see the two slideshows. I think you'll want to delete one of them and, given your design, turn off thumbnails for the remaining one.
Also, if you don't plan to have multiple images in the full screen slideshow, you'd be better off using a background fill image rather than the slideshow widget.
I remain a bit puzzled how/why you're seeing different behavior in your instance of Chrome. Have you cleared your browser cache?
On an unrelated note, if you set the page fill and stroke to none and set the browser fill to the most common color from the garage door image, it will avoid the momentary appearance of a white page on a grey background when your home page first loads. Instead the site visitor would see a blank page that's the most common color from the slideshow image, until that image loads.

  • Right Side Red Line will not appear for full browser width.

I had my top navigational bar set up to fill in a 100% browser width. Now, only the left side red line will appear and the right side will not work.
    http://waketestbykerry.businesscatalyst.com/index.html
Any ideas on how to fix this?

Ah, I understand now. Menus will stretch to 100% browser width in terms of any background applied to the top level Menu widget, but the actual items will not be stretched or fitted at the moment. I'd recommend adding that to our ideas section so that others can vote on it. It would also help if you clarify what you'd expect. Would you want the menu items to grow, or the space between them? And what would you expect if one of the menu items became too long for the container? Should the text wrap, or should it not be able to get smaller than that?

  • Optimum size for a full browser width image?

    Hi all,
I'm pretty new to Muse and these forums (hello everyone!) and have been tinkering around with some features.
I'm currently creating a website for my band that integrate a full width browser image at the top of each page. I was wondering what the optimal settings are for the image size to make this work? It all currently works fine, but on larger screens the image is so zoomed in it's impossible to make out what it's of! The site is designed for smaller screens so this works fine, I was mainly wondering if there's a recommended size to optimised the images too for the width.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Kind regards, Ekke

This must be a hard question to answer...for anyone...because I have tried many times before to get this question answered. I have looked at other examples of Muse sites and I have decided to go with a 2000 width for my images when I want to go full screen. I have no idea if this is correct but I get good results pertaining to how it looks. Now, I don't know if it is the optimum size in terms of download speed. No one will touch this question thus far. My research came from looking at what others did that built Muse sites as a profession.
The Muse team should address this topic of optimal images for all platforms and how images can be used throughout the build not only for the above stated but for efficiency of site building.

  • Force browser width in Adobe muse

    Hi,
I'd like to knwo if there's a way to set some parameters that will make the browser resize to what has been set?
    thanks, Fredwidth="644"

Thnaks for your answer. Even with things like this:
    <script Language="JavaScript">
    var width=678;
    var height=500;
    self.moveTo((screen.availwidth-width)/2,(screen.availheight-height)/2);
    self.resizeTo(width,height);

  • If Muse does not support responsive design, can someone tell me why I have seen 100% browser width

If muse does not support responsive design (and therefore cannot adapt to the differing sizes in browser width of different devices, so I understand it) , as I have read on these forums and been told by Adobe's support tech's via chat support, can someone please explain how the 100% browser width slideshows that I have seen on Adobe's featured Site of the Day sites, were acheived? Are these sites only able to display correctly on the same size screen? If I cannot create a site in muse that displays a constant design on a laptop, desktop, or tablet screen, then why should I use this program at all, and why isn't that dislcaimer right up front to save folks like me hundreds of dollars in cloud subscription fees and hours designing a site only to find out that it will look like crap on 2 of the three devices any one uses to view it???? I was sent here for this question by the support team at Adobe. Hopefully someone has a workaround, because Adobe apparently are nonplussed.

  • Full browser flash scalable slideshow

    Hi All,
I'm interested in making a full browser, scalable slideshow.  I have found tutorials on how to create a full-browswer background with a tiled image, and also how to create a full browser background with a movie that runs in the center of the browswer, but does not scale.
I have seen this done here, for example, at this very beautifl website:  http://mslandarchitects.com/#  This is what we're aiming for.
I know this can be done with javascript, and I have a version of this done for the iphone/ipad... however, I work for a design firm and we need some easier editable schnazzy effects that flash can offer for those who are visiting our website on any device that is non-iphone/ipad.
Can anyone reccomend a tutorial that addresses this particular topic?
    Thanks!

    Hi There (Again)
Thanks again for referring me to this site...
I'm having some issues implementing the swf fit.  When I use the following code, The swf does not fill up the full browswer window when the window is at its maximum size.  I get white space on the left and right that will disaspeer as I shrink the window.  I would like the swf to take up the full window, regardless of the size.  Would anyone mind taking a peak and the code I'm implementing?  See if there is anything glaringly wrong?

  • Can the 100% browser width function be used in non-master pages?

Can the 100% browser width function be used in non-master pages? I watched the video about pulling it to the red edges, and did that on some of my parent pages, but when I preview the page in browser, it doesn't work. I can still see my browser edges.
The idea for the website I am designing is to have different full browser width images for different pages, and I'm looking for a way to do that. I would create a different master for each page, but there are more than 20 pages...too many master pages! Thanks!

    Hi Lindsey,
The 100% width feature works with rectangles and text frames on both master pages as well as regular pages. It doesn't work with images in either case. A possible workaround would be to use a rectangle with a background image, depending on the nature of your image.

  • Fill the full browser height using 100% page items?

I know Muse allows for visual designs that fill the full browser width using browser fill image tiling and 100% width page items, but can this be done vertically as well for full height of browser fill? I'm having issues getting this to work even after filling a rectangle from top to bottom of browser. HELP!

    Hello,
100% stretch only works for the width of the rectangle and not for height in Adobe Muse.
It has already been logged as a feature request : http://forums.adobe.com/ideas/1858
I would suggest you to add your valuable vote and comments to the post.

  • Make the whole page fit to browser width

    Hey Everyone,
I am making a site for a friend and for the life of me I cannot make the entire site fit to browser width - you can see the homepage here - http://www.dmofilms.com/blacklabelweddingfilmsTEST/
All I want is the entire site to always fit the screen. I have looked up the header/footer tutorial and read another thread on this but still cannot figure it out.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks so much!
    -Matt

    Hey Matt,
I am not sure what you are wanting? Do you want to know how to get the header and footer to fill the width of the browser screen? I am getting horizontal scroll when I veiw your site on my macbook so I am guessing you are making your website quite wide.
I am guessing your header and footer have a really large width because you want that style to span the width of all browser.
Here is what you might want to try. I notice you have a center graphic for your header and footer, then it fades to black with a white line going across. You will need to separate that center graphic from the black banner with the white line. Then save that black banner as a png, make it so it will tile seemlessly horizontally. Then use the box tool and make a rectangle that connects to the ends of the canvas area on Muse in the header and footer. Now you will bring both center graphic for you header and footer and place them over top of the seemless banner. This will allow your header and footer to span width.
Before you do that though you will want to make your canvas area smaller, 960px is still pretty common for websites.
    I hope that helps.
PS. Your site looks very well done so far. When you finish I would recommend submitting it to 'site of the day'.

  • Image won't adjust to browser width

    Hi,
I have placed an image in the footer of my master page. In design view it spans from left to right of the browser, but in preview it no longer fills the browser. What can I do to make sure it does?
    - When placing the image I made sure it hit the red lines of both left and right browser edges.
    - I made sure "footer item" was selected (this doesn't seem to make a difference either way)
    - I have tried both "fill to frame" and "fit to frame" options
Here is what it looks like in design view:
And here is how it turns out in preview:

    Hi
Have you placed the image and stretched it for 100% width or you have used rectangle fill with 100% browser width ?
Can you please try with a rectangle fill with 100% width ?
Also does it works when you select scale to fill ?
If still same, please select the footer item with fill options open and upload a screenshot.
    Thanks,
    Sanjit
