Full charge on new Zen Tou

Hi,
I've had my new Zen Touch on charge for a couple of hours or so, and I'm slightly confused as to whether it's already fully charged or not.
When it came out of the box, it had one 'bar' of battery left in it, so it wasn't fully run-down. I've since been charging it, and I get the 3bar battery light flashing followed by the 'lightening' symbol, which I presume is the charging sign.
So basically, my main question is how do I know it's fully charged? I dont want to leave it charging unnecessarily as apparently the manual reccomends not to.
Apologies for the extremely begginers question.
Thanks for your help.

When the alternating lightning symbol with battery symbol changes to a plug then you know it's 90% charged. If you leave it for a further 30 minutes it will do a top-up charge and then the charging circuit will turn-off.

  • Can not full charge iPhone

I can never full charge my new iPhone. Even when the icon in right top corner has become a plug, the big battery gauge on the screen is still not full (but almost). As a result, my usage statistics are always empty and tells me "Usage times will be shown after iPhone is fully charged"
I tried it with both usb and the charger, same result.
    Anyone also met this?

I have had the exact same thing happen to me. I left my phone on the dock charger over night. The next morning it looked like it had a full charge, but after 30 minutes of youtube watching, my battery in the top right corner only looked 50% full. My phone was also getting _HOT_ while plugged in with the wall charger.
Made an appointment at the apple store genius bar and they gave me a brand new charger. Even though it looked like it had a full charge, it didn't. They said if it kept acting funny, or getting hot enough to set my purse on fire, to come back in and they would take my phone give me a brand new one.

  • New Zen Xtra just went d

I started charging my new Zen Xtra, when after about 3.5 hours of the initial charge the screen went blank. I tried the reset, but that didn't work. I tried to use rescue mode, but since nothing shows on the LCD I can't use it. When I connect to my computer I can see the files on the player and can also play them. But I am unable to play them with the player itself. Ay ideas? Should I consider it DOA and RMA it, or am I just missing something ?

ducky24: It sounds like the screen has failed. It happens, but isn't very common. You should try connecting to the mains adapter and pressing reset a few times, just to be sure. Are you still under warranty?

  • MacBook Pro 3.1 batter at 27% health at full charge. Time for new 1?

My macbook pro 3.1 (since 2007) original battery says "service" and has a health of 24% (istat pro) at a full charge with 204 cycles.
Have PRAMed, SMCed, disk first aided and hardware checked. All is well with the machine except the battery which suddenly die without warning.
Is it time for a new battery? Any comments?

Usually when it gives the service message the battery has given up the ghost and needs to be replaced.
If you are in fact running a PPC G4 that is a battery you can replace yourself.  If you have a newer MB with a battery you can't just poop out you should take it in to the Apple store and have it replaced. You can get a replacement for the pop in type at Apple, Best buy, Amazon, or search online. I purchased one years ago AGPTEK for a 2006 MBP that my kid uses and it is still working fine.

  • I cannot get more than 12 to 14 hours out of a full charge, and with a new battery.  Is the phone dying?

I cannot get more than 12 to 14 hours out of a full charge, and with a new battery.  The battery has been charged at least a dozen times, so I know it's at full charge.  Is the phone dying?

Do a Li-ion battery rebuild. Do a full 6-8 hour charge with device in sleep mode, next run it down to about 45-50 % and then a 4-5 hour charge. After that use your phone and take it down to 30%. Another 6-8 hour charge and then down to no lower then 20-25% and one more full 8 hour charge. At that point your battery should be rebuilt back to a normal life cycle. This should eliminate your battery problem.

  • Operating Zen V Plus with full charge and charger plugged

Hello:?Just received my Zen V Plus.
I would like to be able to operate the controls when the unit is fully charged with the charger plugged in, but the controls are locked out in this configuration. How can I re-enable the controls without unplugging the unit's?Sorry if this is a repeat question. I scanned the FAQs and tried a few searches, but nothing seemed to directly address my question. Thanks.Message Edited by sabda on 03--200703:30 PM

Well, I figured it out. The on/off/lock button has different behavior when the unit is charged and plugged into the charger versus unplugged. When unplugged, a momentary push downward turns the unit on and a longer "push and hold" prompts the shutdown mode.
When the unit is plugged in, all that the momentary push does is light up the full charge indicator and the backlighting on the play and back buttons. It takes the "push and hold" on the on/off/lock button to turn the unit on. The unit works great!

  • New Zen Connectivity Quest

Im a Zen Vision M owner and very happy with the product. Its just a bit on the large size on some occasions so Im looking to buy the new Zen 6Gb model when it is released in the UK. I'd like to know if audio and or video can be output to external speakers/ TV as the is no docking port on Zen model or will this all be taken care of via the USB port? Ive looked at the accessories for the new Zen and these only seem to be cases, no leads docks etc for external connectivity. Please let me know Creative and when suitable accessories will be available. Cheers????

Thats true that I am on a forum for problems and will only get bleak outlooks on the zen micro. But in general, do you guys think that i was ripped on the price of 49 CDN for the Zen micro 5 gig? It was the cheapest 5 gig mp3 player i could find. So far its a big improvment from my previous mpio fl00 28 meg mp3 player.
I've used firmware ver. ..0 since it came out with no problems. It is a definite improvement over the previous versions.
My battery used to drop from full charge to one bar overnight, even though it wasn't playing. Once I installed ..0, it doesn't drop off like that anymore.
$49 is a very good price for a 5Gb Zen Micro, I wish I got one at that price!

  • New zen v plus won't play!!! he

HI, just spent the day downloading music from napster and my hard dri've to my new creative zen v plus mp3 player. (used to have the muvo and I loved it) and after 3 hours of hard work I unplugged the mp3 from my computer and the green down toggle doesn't seem to take me down on ANY of the menus. Not only that, but it says it is playing, but I can't hear anything and there is no evidence of any files on there. (not that I can check due to not being able to go down to select artists, albums, etc. (in music library menu)? When I look on the explorer on my computer when it (the zen) is plugged in via USB, it shows all my music on the player!!! what is going on? very frustrated as was a birthday present. (by the way, I followed all procedure including the full charge before doing anything with the mp3)

I've been away from this thread for a while because my new 8GB Zen V Plus simply stopped working. Nothing brought it back to life including reset with a paper clip. One moment it was working...the next it was dead. Fortunately I was within the 30 days of Comp-U-Plus' return policy and they exchanged it. I received the replacement today and guess what.... It has the same problem: It won't update the firmware. It just says the player isn't plugged in even though the repair program finds it just fine. This happens on two different computers. I contacted Creative support as suggested above and they gave me the same links to the same KB articles this forum gives. At this point I'm sure it's not the player and it's the firmware update software. It's time for Creative's engineers to contact people in this forum and figure out what the problem is to correct it. This isn't an isolated problem. Dale

  • Brand new Zen, less than 1 hour use..crashed and will not b

Purchased on 5th of June 2006, less than hr use and not working!!
    SPECS
TYPE - TYPE : Zen Micro Photo
    Capacity - 8GB
    DATE - DATE June 5th 2006
    PRICE - $99
COUNTRY - US (whilst on holiday, I bought 2, one for a US friend and one for me)
    ACCESSORIES -None
    SOUND QUALITY - decent!
USER INTERFACE - UI is ok
SOME COMMENTS - IT has now crashed with less than hours use, it will not boot up, will not charge via USB,it's brand new.. so no. I hate this player. A player should never have this type of problems with less than hours use!!!
SUGGESTIONS - MAKE A PLAYER THAT WORKS
BATTERY LIFE - THe first time I used it, I had just had my friend transfer her music files onto it after doing the same to her player. I just wanted to make sure that it worked properly this was on the 8th of June
on the 9th I got on a flight and headed to the UK, I did not use the player at all, but I noticed that the battery life had slightly reduced even though the player was off.
On Saturday the 0th I went for a walk to and used the player for no more than 30mins.
Everything seemed fine, I adjusted a few settings like the sensitivity of the touch pad and put the player on shuffle. I got home, shut the player down and fell asleep.
Sunday (today) June th. the player refused to boot when switched on, it just hung on the floating creative Zen micro screen. I shut it down and it took ages for it to shut down even though it didn't fully boot up.
I called my friend in the US and asked her if shher battery was failing she said no, I installed the softtware on my machine, slid the back of my zen, removed the battery and replacd it immediately.
After installing the software, I connected the ZEn to the machine via USB, nothing happened.
It won't charge, the Zen windows explorer doesn't hink anything is connected to the machine.
I am severely disappointed. I spent $400+ buying 2 players with creative, I do not expect a new product to fail so miserably on its first outing.
Where the heck do I go from here...
creative owes me an apology and a decent brand new replacement.
A very very dissappointed buyer indeed!
    In summary,
THe player will not boot up
    It will not charge
I cannot get it into recovery mode
    The screen remains blank
It did not come with a mains charger, just a USB cable to charge via the computer
How can such a shoddy product be released?
I bought this product int he US with my credit card..
I would have to go back to the US in order to get a refund and I would have to do this before 4days are up. which means the deadline for a refund is 9th of June 2006
Would creative be willing to incur my costs and time to fly back to NY in order to return this nightmare of a product!!
This is soo shoddy it is unbelievable.
Creative please rescue your reputation and sort this out.

Unfortunately scratches aren't considered a defect.
If the click wheel stopped working or the screen went bad, then that's covered under warranty. But scratches, unfortunately aren't. I would do a search. There have been a few people with success with scratch removers.
The iPod comes partially charged. There's also that fast chargering, and a full charge.
check out the iPod support site for tips on maximizing battery life.

  • 2 Major Problems to a New Zen Mi

well first of all i've only had this zen micro for 2 weeks so it came with the newest fireware...i've searched and read most of the posts relating to mine...but i didnt really see a CLEAR WORKING answer.
first major problem...battery life like many pple. my situation is that i can listen to continous music for no more than 4 hours and the battery dies...and thats not even half of what creative promised. after reading up on some posts i've had a similar problem when after leaving my ZM alone for 24hours it went from 2 bars to bar.
second major problem...this has occured a total of 4 times already and i havent even used this much. while listening to a song, changing to another song, or turning on the ZM...it freezes and makes stuttering sounds. the only way i can fix this is to take out the battery and then it says "rebuilding library" which makes me very nervous. it HAS NOT freezed yet during transfers btw computer...just fyi.
    couple questions/comments...
. will upgrading my fireware to 2.*+ fix any of my problems?
    2. i will do a disk cleanup after my battery recharges
    3. will buyin a power adapter help improve battery life instead of usb?
    4. any other suggestions to both of my problems?

There are two battery life issues normally () people don't quite understand how battery usage works, and that's linked to the Zen FAQ from the?BEFORE you post, READ THIS FIRST (FAQ) post (2) there is an issue with the Micro battery draining very rapidly in standby mode. For the latter a new firmware is being released soon which drops the standby mode from 24 hours to 4 hours, so it should reduce the drain proportionately.

This is rare with the Micro. Where are your tracks from?
    couple questions/comments...
. will upgrading my fireware to 2.*+ fix any of my problems?
It can't be guaranteed. We aren't privy to every single bug?Creative fix in the firmware, and the latest v and v2 firmware should be similar.
    2. i will do a disk cleanup after my battery recharges
    Not sure this will help.
    3. will buyin a power adapter help improve battery life instead of usb?
No, but it will charge twice as fast. A full charge via USB from?empty can take 0+ hours. On the adapter it's 4 hours.

  • My New Zen To

i just got my new zen touch today and i first tired to charge the player with the USB cable but it didnt turn on nor did a battery icon turn on nor did the blue light from the on and off button turn on. is this nomal? i was able to start to charge it with a power source. is this the only way the player first charges? also i have the player charging for about hr and 0mins now and it says my battery is full. should i believe it's or is the icon for full battery also mean something else? i hope my player is not messed up
    Thanks

Actually the charging is a little confusing. When the charge indicator goes off (and the screen is blank) the player will actually trickle charge for around another 30 minutes.
Basically for your first 3 charges make sure you fully charge (allow 4 hours) and then discharge the player (through normal use). This will give the best start to the battery. More battery?tips in my Nomad Primer.

  • Brand New Zen Micro Hangs on "Creative" Logo Scr

Like some of you out there my new Zen Micro worked with the initial charge prior to my charging it although I never got to put any music on the thing.
Then after the charge, it hangs on the "Creative" logo screen. I've tried all of the instructions, including removing the battery, holding on-off switch "on" while replacing the battery, choose one of the options, but the clean-up, format, etc. all seem to start but do not finish (I've left each for half a day and it never finishes).
I downloaded the new firmware and connected my Zen via the USB cable to my PC, but my PC does not see the Zen device and asks me to connect it even thought the device is connected and the "Creative" logo screen is displayed.
Does anyone have a strategy for correcting this issue? I can return the device, but I hate to since I love the idea of using it. It's cool.

    hi,
hope this is not too late... but try calling the creative support hotline .. have someone from creative walk you through the trouble-shooting in case something was missed when you tried it.
that way, you can get creative support to confirm if the device is defecti've or not and they can provide you suggestions on how to rectify it: return/exchange with seller, return/exhange through creative, etc.
i also went through that drama last week, when my micro was charging and never responded afterwards. turns out mines was defecti've even before i even played anything on it
i called amazon and was able to get them to send me another one. this new one was able to finish charging the battery ... i'm charging the 2nd battery to make sure and hopefully when that's done, i can start loading songs and test out the sound as well, recorder, calendar, etc .. as i wanted to make full use of all these features.
hope you get your micro working soon.. good luck!!!
