Full resolution image editing? Also sharpness issue + Camera Crashes

Is there any way I can use the built in image editor to edit my images at full resolution, or even a selected resolution?
I quickly edited something I want printed to see what I could do with it, and I really like the 'Latte' filter, but I can't print the image it creates because it's a low resolution.
Alternatively does anyone know how to recreate this filter in photoshop?
Also I noticed that when I tried to add sharpness to an image it warped the image? Will this be fixed?
Additionally the camera app frequentley hangs after taking a picture, especially through being accessed by whatsapp etc, and other times it says 'Camera not available', this is really frustrating and also happens to my other Z1, will there be a fix for this?
Thanks!

  • HT201317 How do I download full resolution images from icloud

i have my devices set to Optimize iPhone/iPad Storage. I also have them set to Upload to My Photostream. I understand this to mean that my images are uploaded to the cloud full resolution but downloaded back to my devices at lower size and resolution to optimize space. If I need to download to full sized images later, how do I get to them?
    thanks

Your PC will always download full resolution versions.
If you are using iCloud photos library on your mobile device and you use the optimise option, your photos may or may not be reduced in resolution (this depends on whether they needed to be optimised which is automatically determined by your free space). I'm not 100% sure but I think that if the image is optimised you may download the full resolution image simply by opening it on your mobile device. However if you are in any doubt, putting it in edit mode (temporarily) does definitely download the full resolution version (if it's not already on your device).

  • Double clicking iPhoto thumbnail doesn't load full resolution image.

After mistaking the new Photo application for iPhoto, I couldn't find the original 206 G iPhoto volume of my pix.  Finally found it but couldn't get the thumbnail images in the application to load the full resolution images after I double clicked them.  Please help.  It's got me scared.  I tried to rebuild after rebooting with Command and Option held down, but no fix in sight.  The thumbnails still refuse to link to the full resolution images.  Help!

    Where is this library stored?

  • Can I get full resolution images on my iPhone?

I was wondering if there's a way to get full resolution images on my iPhone, because everything that I synched get's blury when you zoom in. I know that the images on my computer are big enough, because on of the smaller ones is 1024x1578.

  • Save Full Resolution Image iPhoto

I was editting a photo on my iPad3 in iPhoto, and when I save it to the camera roll, it is significantly compressed and the textures in the graphic I'm using get lost and blurry. is there a way to save a photo without it being compressed?
What I did was bring in a graphic I made, and editted it in iPhoto, saved it to the camera roll and when I compare the two images in iPhoto, the original is crisp and sharp but the other one that I saved has bad aliasing and has blurred out most of the texture in the graphic.
What is going on here. The help area says that saving a photo to the camera roll saves it in full resolution. But why is it compressing it still?
    Any help appreciated.

I have the same problem with you, iPhoto didnt have us to choose the resolution, it auto resize and compressed the file.
I think you can make a feedback

  • Full resolution images possible?

I am uploading some of my files from photoshop, and PNG files are rather crappy. Is there a way to pevent iWeb from converting them to PNG files and leave them as psd or jpg files? Also, I want to keep full resolution, I thought that was the point of iWeb when they first released it.
Thanks in advance for any help

Hello, pcConvert. There are a couple of things you maybe need to understand about how any web program (not just iweb) works. This is very different from working towards printing an image, so it confuses a lot of people.
    1. No web browser understands psd files. JPEG, GIF, PNG are the best graphics formats for web display, because most browsers understand them (although older versions of IE are notorious for PNG-illiteracy).
    2. The kind of resolution you seem to be talking about (higher ppi= better print) doesn't exist on the internet. Computer monitors only understand pixel dimensions. A photo that is 900 pixels wide will display exactly the same whether it's saved at 300 ppi, 1000 ppi, or 2 ppi. That setting just doesn't apply for onscreen display.
iWeb resizes your photos to 800 pixels (or less) on the long dimension, because that's about as large as you can go and expect the entire image to fit on most monitors without a lot of scrolling. As JIm McCormaic said, you can include a full sized version for downloading, if you want. A regular graphics program like Photoshop can resize for more viewing options than a web browser can give you.
Current versions of iweb don't normally convert JPGs to PNG files, unless the image uses transparency, which the JPEG format can't use (in any program, not just iweb).

  • How to Transfer Full-Resolution Images without Risk of Compression

    Hello!
This is more of a general image question, but I couldn't figure out where to post such a question.  I apologize if that causes any hulabaloo.
In the past (but only once), I have used an online service that allowed me to zip a large amount of high-resolution images and upload them to their website in order to transfer them to another person (the other person would download the images at their convenience, within an allotted amount of time), while maintaining their full image quality.  I can't remember the name of this service, though.  I recall, that, in order to use it, I had to sign up for a free 14-day trial, so it is a paid service, although at the time, I only needed it once (or so I thought).
Does anyone know what I'm talking about?  Or can anyone recommend a service that does this?
    Thanks for any help!

The original question wanted to send files "while maintaining their full image quality". Zipping and then unzipping does not change the quality of the image. Creating a JPG changes the quality of an image, although in many cases the quality loss is undetectable by human eyes.

  • Viewing full res. images on iPhone

I just switched back to the Apple camp by moving from the Samsung S4 to the new iPhone 6.
I'm having a minor annoyance with iTunes automatically resizing my full resolution images before uploading it into the phone. Is there any photo viewing app that will hold onto the full resolution preferably with the image filename and metadata intact like the default photo viewer on Android?
Photos show incredible detail on the S4 but 'mehhh' on the iPhone 6 due to the auto-resize to 2302x1536 for a 3x2 aspect ratio image.

You may want to create a Facebook account, Flickr account, or any other photo account that there is an App for on the iPhone.
This may allow you to then upload your photos to their servers. View it on the App at a much higher quality.
Again not totally sure on this. But it might be something you can try out. Maybe our fellow posters have other suggestions.

  • D800 / CAMERA RAW SHARPNESS ISSUES

Perhaps somebody else is also having this problem:
I own a Nikon D800, which performs beautifully, but I have hit a snag with it:  If I open its raw files using ACR (for later edition either in Lightroom or Photoshop) even though they contain a staggering amount of detail, they somehow fail to live up to the expectations a full-frame 36MP camera generates regarding image sharpness.
To further illustrate:  I also own a Fuji XE-2, which has an APS 16MP sensor, which, however, offers stunning, razor-sharp images almost every time I press the shutter.  Opening these files in ACR is a delight and you have to edit them much less than the D800 files to get the image you had previously visualized.
However, if I open the NEF files using Nikon's own Capture NX-D software, voilà!  The images look as sharp as they should have from the start in ACR. But, if I export the resulting edit, via TIFF, either to Lightroom or Photoshop, again you feel disappointed, they are too soft:  I did not pay a hefty chunk of my cash for the camera and lenses to get soft pictures.
The gist of the problem here is that Capture NX-D is a fine piece of software but it handles a little stiffly when compared to ACR and introducing it in my workflow would slow things down.
Does anyone have an idea how to overcome this problem to get sharp images from NEF files in ACR?

Nikon has a raw conversion software in their camera and computer-based applications which consists of algorithms and parameters that guide the application of the algorithms to render a JPG.
Adobe has a raw conversion software which consists of algorithms and parameters that guide the application of the algorithms to render the raw data as an RGB image that you see, and eventually save as some file format.
The raw conversion algorithms are proprietary within each company and Nikon parameters that may be embedded in the NEF file are only relevant to Nikon software.  Let’s say the sharpening parameters in the NEF file are +3.  What does that mean to Adobe which has an Amount slider of 0 to 150?  So Adobe ignores the Nikon-specific sharpness parameters.  Until Adobe and Nikon are the same company (as well as Canon and Sony and Panasonic and Olympus and Leica, etc) Adobe will have different algorithms and parameters to guide the raw conversion than the camera manufacturers.  Some day we may live in a society where the state provides all photography hardware and software and everything is the same, but until then, there is competition between various companies and intellectual property rights and patent laws that keep each from knowing exactly what the other is doing.
Adobe converts raw files from many models and brands of cameras.  For the most part they use the same algorithms and parameters for each of these models and brands.
Suppose you work for a photography company with many photographers where some use Nikon and some use Canon and some use Sony, etc, and it is your job to work on each of those raw files.  If Adobe had one set of sliders for Nikon files and another set for Canon files and another set for Sony files, in other words if Adobe tried to do the things as specific to the camera manufacturer as possible, then it would be difficult to work on the raw files across the various camera manufacturers.  If you use Adobe software it shouldn’t matter what brand or model of camera you’re working with, the workflow should be similar and the results similar to the extent the raw data, itself, is similar.

  • Multiclip issue: camera views turn to single view in canvas after 1st edit

I have been having a problem I can not figure out. I have had it with FCP 5.0 and FCP 6.0. After making a multi clip and dragging it to my timeline. It works great, I edit it normally with no problems. Sometimes , but not always, when I go back to fine tune the edit, here is what happens.
When I play the multiclip, I only see the full screen image that is also playing in my canvas. When I stop the clip all three edit windows ( I am working with 3 cameras) show back up in my viewer. When I hit play again, the 3 edit windows disappear and the same full screen video is playing in both the view and the canvas.
Some times while playing the timeline, a section will play with all three edit windows available, and the next clip on the timeline the edit window returns to full screen, not allowing me to edit or see the three cameras simultaneously.
Anyone have any ideas how to solve this problem?

I just re-read your posts and you say that only one angle appears in the CANVAS? That is how it's supposed to work. You can also set it to play back in mult-angle view to your video monitor (I think it also plays in the Canvas, I can't remember off-hand), but that doesn't work well for mult-angle editing. You want to see all the angles (as many as possible at least) in the Viewer (monitor wall), and to see the active "on-air" angle in the Canvas (Air/Program output). That's how we do it in live, and live-to-tape productions.
In multiclip mode, these are examples of what happens:
    1. During playback, hitting keypad numbers 1, 2, 3,... will cut to those angles, but will not record the cuts (may need to change keyboard layout in the FCP menu)
    2. During playback, hitting Cmd + keypad numbers 1, 2, 3,... will cut those angles, and the cuts will be recorded in the sequence, effectively allowing you to "switch it live" (may need to change keyboard layout in the FCP menu)
    3. During playback, all angles will play together (like a monitor wall) in the Viewer, with the active angle being highlighted
    4. While playback is stopped, and the Canvas/sequence is selected, where ever the playhead is in the sequence, hitting keypad numbers 1, 2, 3,... will change that clip's angle
I see you have a MBP, so if that's what you're editing on, then the keypad thing won't necessarily work. I don't recall if the top number keys also do it, but you can program them to if they don't in the Keyboard Layout menu.
The FCP manual is actually pretty helpful with all this. I'd also suggest to not collapse any of your multiclips until you're finished editing.

  • Images imported from a digital camera were viewable and editable at first but later disappeared! They cannot be re-imported from either the camera or the iCloud as iPhoto indicates that they already exist, but cannot locate them. Please help!

On holiday I have been uploading my photos to iphoto on my macbook pro every few days, the latest batch appeared and I was able to edit them, flag, merge events etc. However, later that day when I went back to the images they could not be found in my library. They had been removed from 'latest import', however were viewable on the icloud photo stream. I have attempted to re-import the images from both the digital camera and my photostream but iphoto indicates that the images had already been imported and would not import them again. I was able to locate the master images using finder, but Iphoto tells me that these files are unreadable (they are .jpg) when I try to re-add them this way. I have also tried to 'unhide' all images in case I had accidentally hidden them but this didn't work either.
    Any other suggestions?

a best practice to is to never have any computer program (including iPhoto) delete the photos from the card but to import the photos and keep them and then after at least one successful backup cycle has completed and then reformat the card --  I use three very large (32 GB) cards in rotation so I do not reformat for typically a year or more giving me one more long term backup of my photos
Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - rebuild your iPhoto library database

  • In firefox auroras new camera API I am only getting 320x240 resolution images. Is this configurable?

While testing Firefox Aurora's new Camera API I found that I'm only receiving 320x240 png files. For our needs this would have to be a higher resolution image. Is this configurable? Or is this an issue with the device or something else?
I'm using the Samsung Galaxy Nexus S.

It is a limitation of the initial version. We have improved it, interfacing with the default camera app on the phone. We plan to release this change in Firefox 11.

  • Exporting graphics/images at full-resolution?

    Good morning.
So, I've got a series of indesign documents, all of which contain various different types of placed graphics; eps, png, jpg, ai, psd, and the like.
I know that I can export these graphics from Indesign server, via script, by iterating allGraphics, or, splineItems, just to name a few.
What I noticed, though, is that the exported file is sized to the frame it was placed in.  In other words, if I placed a 3000x2000 px jpeg into a 320x240pt box, did some fitting options on it (say, fill Proportionally), then the exported image will be just that, 320x240.
How do I go about exporting these Graphics at full-resolution? IE: I want my exported PNG to be 3000x2000.
    Suggestions?
    Thanks.

"An odd way to use ID…" -- That brought a smile to my face. Perhaps, odd, yes, but I've done worse, believe me.
There is a valid reason I have for not doing a collection, and pulling out the orginal assets/Links. I require them to be PNG.
InDesign server does a bang-up job at converting all EPS or AI or PSD files into PNG when I ask it to, but, it does so at a cost: It shrinks the exported/converted files to fit the size of their containing frames. Poo.
Here's a snipperoo of what I'm doing. Perhaps someone else has done the same, and figured out the full-size problem I'm facing.
This is part of a larger script, I've trimmed fat for brevity
    (function(){
        var graphicExportDir = new Folder(source.path+"/graphics");
        graphicExportDir.exists||graphicExportDir.create();
        d.allGraphics.each(function(graphic){
// Can I do something, here, to get my pal InDesign server to export at full-res?
            graphic.exportFile(ExportFormat.PNG_FORMAT, File(graphicExportDir+"/"+graphic.itemLink.name+".png"));

  • Photos cannot find my the full resolution of my images.

I create a book in Photos.
    I save, close, power off.
Next day, the full resolution version of lots of images are apparently missing from the book.
If I locate the missing image in Photos, export the original, reimport it and place the reimported image on the page, it works.
    How can this be avoided?

With the volume mounted you can use the demo version of iPhoto Library Manager to rebuild the library and it will make the rebuild library an "managed" library.  However, you must have iPhoto 9.6.1 in order to do so.  If you don't have it you can get it from the App Store by following the instructions in this post:

Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash
Install the App from the App Store.
Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.
