Full screen editing

When I click on the full screen button, for a second thumbnail images appear across the top of the screen, and editing tools across the bottom. I'm unable to use these tools because my image immediately fills the screen and the editing tools diappear. Any suggestions on how I can get the editing icons to remain on the screen?

Thanks!!
HI shirley,
Just move your mouse to the top or bottom of the
screen and the browser bar and toolbar will pop into
view.
You can also go to View>and choose "show thumbnails"
and "show toolbar" in the menubar

  • IPhoto Freeze on full screen Editing - Lost threads ???

    Hi all,
as I'm one of those experiencing multiple problems with iPhoto 9 and Snow Leopard, with freezing the complete OS in full screen editing and displaying repeatedly scrambled or corrupt images, I wanted to subscribe to one of the many multipage threads here but they all seem to be gone !!!
Did I miss something? Has the problem been fixed meanwhile?
If there is a fix, please someone share the secret, iPhoto is driving me crazy...
    Thanks!

Sorry, it did not change anything!
It took me quite a while to find the time and the courage to rebuild a completely new iPhoto Library from scratch... but I did it... with more than 5000 pix in it, of course beautifully sorted and most even modified! Altough the problem still remains, at least I did cleanup the base properly.
Now I'm gonna try to migrate to iPhoto '11... fingers crossed!

  • Edit keywords whilst in full screen edit mode

    Hi all
I want to edit the keywords assigned to an image in full screen edit mode.
I have searched about a bit and have found links to Keyword Assistant which is all well and nice. It's not particularly quick to asign keywords though - my touch typing isn't all that hot. And it has a few 'quirks' which make it a little cumbersome to use.
Ideally I'd love to see a palette with keywords that can be toggled on or off for each image - brought up much like the adjust and effects palettes. I have over 15k images in this library and I'm intending to go through them all adjusting the keywords. Is there anything out there that will do something like this, within iPhoto full-screen?
    Thanks

  • Retouch brush in Full Screen Editing Mode

Has anyone else noticed that the retouching brush is way too big when you're editing in full-screen mode? Is this a bug? Is there anyway to adjust the diameter of the brush?
    Thanks,
    Matt

Well, at least I'm not alone. I didn't notice a place to file a bug about this.
    Thanks,
    Matt
Yeah...I have the same issue. Posted on the other
forum about this. This size of the pixel is about 25
across and when you use the tool, it obliterates the
face or whatever you're trying to retouch. When you
revert to the regular screen it doesn't fix the
    problem either.
I did notice that when I first used the tool in the
regular, non-full screen mode, it was fine. Once I
switched to the full screen editing mode, the problem
started and now it won't go away.

  • Has iPhoto Always Had Full Screen Editing?

I just figured out how to edit photos in full screen in iPhoto.
Everything goes black and the pictures are on the top of the screen and the editing tools are on the bottom. This is very cool and just wanted to know how long this feature has been around.
    Thanks,
    Sam

    It arrived in iPhoto 6.

  • Viewing EXIF data in full screen edit mode

is it possible to view the EXIF data when in full screen mode?
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I think the full screen mode is the problem. You can't even drag an image from there to an application in the dock to view extended EXIF information like I outline next.
To view more EXIF info than iPhoto will show for an image, download Simple EXIF Viewer for Mac OS X. Put it in your applications folder and then open the app. When the app is in the dock, click and hold on it and scroll to "keep in dock".
You can now drag an image from the iPhoto Library viewing window on top of the EXIF viewer. The viewer window will open and give you the EXIF info for the image.

  • Please help me! I imported my pics to iphoto but I can't open them now. I can't see them on full Screen/edit them like before. All I get is a exclamation mark when I double click on them. I don't have copies, can someone please help me?

I imported all my pics to Iphoto and I can't open/edit them now. When I double click on them, I only get an exclamation mark. Please help me I don't have copies. I tried burning them to a cd but it didn't work. Can someone please help me?

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later...
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • How do you change the black background in full screen edit?

I want to change the background colour in fullscreen edit from black to white. Can this be done?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
No. The general theory is that the pics are easier to edit against black.

  • Is the Full Screen Mode confusing?

apple is known for its good user interfaces, but am i the only one who thinks that the new user interface of iphoto is bad? especially the "fullscreen mode" is very difficult to use for a beginner. first of all: didn't jobs say that the green button on the top enters fullscreen? well, it doesn't.
once you are in fullscreen there is no way to switch between windows and or start new programs as the dock is gone. not good! confusing! it also seems like some things are done a different way in the fullscreen mode, you feel "disabled" when using it.
other things that are not good:
    - where is search? every other program uses a little square where you can enter text - not iphoto! the icon morphs to the text box when clicking... why changing a behaviour we are all used to?
    - where is "add a new folder/intelligent album etc")? the known user interface element for this is gone! iphoto is now inconsistent with itunes or other programs that add new things by the "+" button. oh well, there IS a plus button, but he is placed on a totally different place on the right! it just doesn't feel right that way.
    - where can i make the map larger when editing photos and selecting the gps position?
    - how can i get rid of the visual clutter in edit mode?
    - why can't i display 2 or more photos without going in edit mode?
this release makes me really sad. i had so many hopes in what the program can do, but it is just a step backwards in a very confusing direction with the user interface.

I feel the same way. iPhoto'11 has many flaws that need to be fixed. I really miss full screen editing mode with no visual clutter. Really disapointted.

  • Iphoto 6 toolbar stopped appearing in full screen (mouse moved to bottom)

I have iPhoto 6.6 on an iMac core duo running osx 10.4.11. While it formerly worked correctly, now the toolbar no longer appears when the cursor is moved to the bottom of the screen in full screen edit mode.
    I have determined the following:
The problem exists only in my main account (and only recently appeared) but works correctly in other accounts. In my main account I have tried the following, singly and in combinations:
Create a new iPhoto library, remove the iPhoto preferences file, login with the shift key down to disable login items, removed the /Library/Contextual menu items folder. None of these corrected the problem. In full screen edit mode, menu item View->Show Toolbar does show the toolbar. However, when the toolbar is hidden, it still does not automatically show when the cursor is moved to the bottom of the screen. Switching to other screen sizes does not correct the problem. The menu at the top of the screen does automatically appear when the cursor is moved to the top of the screen.
The term "main account" refers to an account in which I do my routine work. It does not have administrator privileges. I have other accounts on this system, including one just for admin.
Since the toolbar automatically appears in other accounts, I assume that some data in my account has been corrupted. It appears not to be the iphoto library or preferences file since I have replaced these, or any startup item since I have disabled these.
What else in my account could cause iPhoto to not correctly determine when the cursor is at the bottom of the screen? Or to otherwise cause this problem?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
ince the toolbar automatically appears in other accounts, I assume that some data in my account has been corrupted.
It could be a preference file other than iPhoto's that's interfering with iPhoto. This will tell you if that's the case:
    Trouble Shooting Preferences
Go to HD/Users/Your_name/Library. Move the Preferences folder (in its entirety) to the Desktop and make a second copy of it so you have Copy A and B. Now try the the process again and determine if problem is fixed.
If the problem IS fixed, then go to the new Prefs folder that the OS will have created and open it up.
Open Copy B on the Desktop and select all of the items inside. Drag them into the open new library folder. When the Copy window comes up check the Apply to All check box and then click on the Don't Replace button as seen here. That will keep the new files created and bring back all of the others.
If the problem is NOT fixed, trash the new Prefs folder and move the intact Copy A folder back to the Library folder .
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Using Full Screen

I am totally a novice when it comes to iPhoto. I took the tour of how to use it. My question is this. When I click on one of my photos and then click on the full screen button it takes me to the full screen but after a few seconds I lose the menu bars at the top and bottom. Only by running my arrow over the top or bottom will I get it back and that is only as long as I am using it. Should the menu bars be staying or is what is happening correct to give me uhampered access to my photo? Is it best to edit in the main screen or the full screen? I hope this makes sense.
iMac 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Stamper,
You can change this behavior, if you wish. Select any photo and go to full-screen edit mode. To keep the menu bar and thumbnails, go to View > Show Thumbnails. To keep the tool bar choose View > Show Toolbar.
I also prefer full-screen edit mode. It is powerful, and in my opinions one of the best things about iPhoto 6 compared to previous versions. Plus, even with PhotoShop Elements set as my external editor in iPhoto (iPhoto opens to PE when I double-click) I can still edit in iPhoto's full-screen edit mode by clicking the full-screen icon at the bottom of the iPhoto window. I like this flexibility.

  • After Import, thumbnails black, full screen OK

I imported a set of pictures from file. Some are tif. Some are jpg. After the import, I found 2 pictures that yielded a black thumbnail. When I clicked on the picture, to show it in a small screen, it looked like a negative. When I clicked in the picture for full screen edit, all was OK.
Any clues as to what is wrong??

I ran the jpg pictures thru Preview and saved them as TIFF. Then imported them without a problem. Looked easier than trying to figure out how to give these old B/W pictures an RGB profile!
    Thanks again for the help.

  • Application crashes/quits when entering full screen?

    Hoping for help here...
I am trying to edit photos in iphoto 08, when I double click on a photo it goes to full screen edit, then crashes. Also crashes while launching slideshow. Also crashes while launching slide show from Preview. The application just quits, then asks to send a report. Here is a copy of the last report sent to Apple. Hope someone can figure this out????

  • Full-screen delete?? how

I have searched the boards before posting such a simple thing.... i think...
    I have imported several photos.
I then go thru them in full-screen edit mode.
I can do everything I want other than delete/trash the bad photos....
Is there a way to do this or do I have to back out of full screen then drag it to the trash?

    Thanks Dave....
I forget that I am on an Apple sometimes...
