Full screen f12 mystery

hello all:
I just replaced my keyboard as my 8 year old kid did what 8 year old kids do to keyboards. This new keyboard has the default audio volume increase control on it. I used to use f12 as a short cut to view video full screen in Final Cut (I have already set it up in Digital Cinema, etc.) Is there a new short cut or does Apple now hate f12?
Of course, I might just be nuts too.
Please enlighten, anyone?

How do I get my program FCP to give a full screen view. I used to be able to do this     View> external video > all frames     or command F 12.

If you are trying to view Full Screen on your computer screen, go to the menu View > Video Playback and toggle on Digital Cinema Desktop Preview - Main:
    Then use Command+F12.

  • How do I turn off full screen and get my toolbar back? There is no firefox symbol anymore.

I (unwittingly) clicked "full screen" in a simple attempt to get my favorites bar back after (stupidly) installing the new (and annoying) version of Firefox. It has filled up the screen so well that I don't have any toolbar above, the regular settings on my desktop below, nor do I have a Firefox symbol I can click on to fix things. I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, nothing helps. No toolbar at all. I have to put my cursor (which, by the way, mysteriously jumps anywhere while I'm typing) at the top of the screen just to see the address bar. "Control minus" doesn't help. Any suggestions?? Thanks!!

You can hover the mouse to the top to make the Navigation Toolbar and Tab bar appear.
You can click the Maximize button at the top right to leave full screen mode or right click empty space on a toolbar and use "Exit Full Screen Mode"

  • Full screen vertical scroller sometimes works, sometimes doesn't

Curious to know if anyone else has had this problem or there's some information that my elucidate this mystery:
Our publication ran a page with a full-screen vertical scrolling overlay today for the iPad. Inside of Viewer the folio flipped from page to page just fine, but once published we were unable to move between pages any longer once on this particular page. We've run full-screen vertical overlays before without incident and we're stumped to understand why the Viewer elicited no issues while the final publication did.
I put this question to you, Forum: Any thoughts?

    Hey Lightgarden,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
From what I gather, your iPhone 4s intermittently stops responding and displays a blank black screen. If you haven’t already, take a look at the article linked below and try the troubleshooting suggestions that it provides.
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn on - Apple Support
If your device doesn't respond when you press buttons
Your device might not return to the Home screen when you press the Home button, wake from sleep when you press the Sleep/Wake button, slide to unlock or power off, or it might appear frozen. Try these steps:
    Restart your device.
If it still doesn't respond, or if it doesn't turn back on, reset your device.

  • Viewing RAW images in full screen - problem

I have begun to shoot some images in RAW mode with both my Nikon D70 and Nikon D200 - NEF format. I edit in Photoshop Elements, from withing iPhoto so that edited images are saved back to iPhoto.
When I view edited images in full screen mode from iPhoto, the edited version will be shown briefly and then the unedited version pops up. Anyone know what this is all about and can it be stopped?
Also, I am wondering why, when I right-click on a RAW image in iPhoto, one of my choices is "Reprocess RAW" whether I have edited it or not. And there is no choice to "Revert to original" as in non-RAW images.
    Marion

I think you are referring to minor color and other editing done within iPhoto. I am talking about cropping and other major editing done in Photoshop Elements. This edited RAW image, by default, is saved back to iPhoto - but NOT as JPEG - where I can view it along with other RAW images I have not processed in any way.
Yet, both edited and unedited images offer me the same option when I right click for the contextual menu - "Reprocess RAW." This is the place where "Revert to Original" appears when this menu is accessed from a JPEG image.
When I use iPhoto edit, which I almost never do, it does indeed save the image as "JPEG image (from Nikon RAW)." And indeed I do then have the option to Revert to Original.
Reprocess RAW works in the same way as Revert to Original. It was just mysterious to me why I was offered the opportunity to redo something I'd not done in the first place.
    Thanks for your help.

  • 1. How to view my work full screen? 2. How to make "F" keys behave proper?

    Hello All,
Two softball questions for FCP batting practice:
    1. Somewhere along the way, I came across an explanation on how to make my canvas full screen. I found a post mentioning View, External Video, and something about cinema (not in front of it right now). I don't have an external monitor, so how can I accomlish this on my laptop?
    2. Speaking of laptops, many of the "F" keys don't work as described in the manual. For example, F12 brings up a dashboard with weather in Cupertino, CA. Not exaclty conducive to my workflow. Is there a place to tell the MacBook Pro that when operating this application, default to the "F" commands within the software?
    Thanks All.

    Hey Steve,
Point well taken. In the past week, I purchased a camera, Final Cut, MacPro, Mic, Lights, Tripod, etc. I have purchased two books that were recommended on this site (both excellent), and a CD tutorial. I have been out shooting every day, doing tutorials and editing (to the best of my ability) every night. All of that being said, it's a tremendous amount of information, and some of the finer points get lost. I am pleased to say that I have completed my first piece on hunger experienced by seniors in our community. Very gratifying.
So, I fully appreciate the apparent laziness inferred from my post, but trust me, I'm fully engaged, just overwhelmed.
Shane, thanks for "pinch hitting". Both solutions worked.

  • Full Screen viewing of images in Bridge CS3

I have Bridge CS3 on my macbook pro that I generally use when I'm on the road.  Up until last week, I would use the space bar to view images in full screen mode.  Now, mysteriously, pressing the space bar does nothing and I can't for the life of me figure out how to view images at full screen (without resorting to starting a slideshow playback).
Has anyone else experienced this before?  Can you offer any help?
    Thanks!
    J

    Can you offer any help?
First thing to try when sudden odd behavior starts is resetting the preferences. Hold down option (alt) key while restarting Bridge, from the pop up window choose reset preferences and try again.
Be aware that Bridge CS3 was the version with the most problems, maybe you have already a newer version? if so you may install and use this on two machines. Otherwise consider an upgrade, you will surely benefit from that

  • Viewing project in full screen?

Im new to Mac and Final Cut Express. Im used to Pinnacle and to view the project in full screen i just simply clicked on the icon in the lower part of the "canvas" screen. How can i do this.?

OK, I was again using my modified ISO Italian layout with the English version of the app. So, now I selected Italiano Pro - a British keyboard with accented vocals sticked where they fit to look like Italian - and it still didn't work. Then I tried British, that is the same version of the app. No way to make it work.
I replaced my Das Keyboard III with the same Apple Aluminium keyboard I had used with FCE 3.5, and no way to have Cmd-F12 work to trigger the Toggle command and recall the Canvas in Full Screen.
Also, I created a shortcut (Cmd-P) in the System Preferences for the "Digital Cinema..." command, but it does not respond to the shortcut, exactly as the Toggle (Cmd-F12) command. Other shortcuts are fine.
But it is not only the keyboard, since the Toggle button does not work even if clicked. It worked flawlessly on 3.5, I can't understand why it doesn't work with 4.0.

  • Viewing Full Screen Problem

    Hello
I edit using an 27 inch IMac as my main FCP screen and an older monitor to display the Browser.  When I hit Command/F12 to payback a sequence full screen, the image goes to  the secondary, inferior monitor. Can't drag the display to the higher res IMac. If I put the window arrangement back to "default" where all four main FCP windows are displayed on the IMac, the full-screen command still send the picture to the older Browser monitor. Is there anyway around this? Can I do something so that I can make use of the 27 inch IMac to view the sequence full screen?
    Thanks.
    John

Command F12 is simply the command to "Play All Frames"
The place where you select the output path for FCP is in: View>Video Playback.
There will be a list of options there. (The list can be quite long if you have an 3rd party card/breakout box installed.)
If you want the material to fill your main monitor, the option you would select from the list is: Digital Cinema Desktop Preview - Main

  • Where can you compare 2 photos side by side in Full Screen in Elements 11?

Where can you compare 2 photos side by side in Full Screen in Elements 11? Version 9 has this feature under Display View.

In the Organizer select two thumbnails and hit the F12 key to compare them. But I guess you mean in the Editor application. In Expert Mode it‘s possible to work with floating windows rather than fixed tabs but you first need to set your preferences. Go to:
Edit >> Preferences >> General (Windows)
Photoshop Elements Editor >> Preferences >> General (Mac)
Then put a checkmark in the box against “Allow Floating Documents in Expert Mode”
    Click OK
You can now open your two images and use the layout button at the bottom to choose various configurations or to cascade.

  • Full Screen background trouble

    Hi,
I'm trying to publish a Captivate 4 project to EXE with the Full Screen setting on.
In the skin editor border tab, a very light grey is selected as background colour, but the customer wanted me to change this: It should now use an html file instead. The customer told me to put this in the adobe/captivate4/publish/templates folder and replace the standard.html there.
No matter what I do though (replace, not replace), I always simply get a black background. Does anybody know how to solve this? I mean, it should never be black anyway, as a grey is selected...
    Happy to try anything!
    Julia

Hi Julia and welcome to our community
EXE and HTML are sort of mutually exclusive. I'm not sure if changing anything in the Publish/Templates folder would change a thing in the EXE output.
As for why you are getting a black background, that's a bit of a mystery. You say that you have selected a light grey for the HTML background color? It's been my experience that whatever you select for the "HTML Background Color" is also used for the EXE background if you are using the full screen option and the project is smaller than the full screen.
Perhaps try choosing a really wild color like Hot Pink. Then publish and see if the background now changes from Black to Hot Pink. Sometimes you find that a radical change like that will finally work where it failed otherwise. Then again, it could be a wasted effort. But certainly won't hurt to try.
And as I was typing this, it occurred to me that perhaps you could be thinking of something different when you say "Background Color". What I'm referring to is the color that surrounds the Captivate movie if it doesn't fill the screen, NOT the background of the Captivate movie itself. Like the image below:

  • Keyboard short cut for full screen in fcp

On my new macbook pro I can't figure which key allows full screen in FCP...I tought it was command + f12, but that's the volume control...

It is command F12.  But if you want the Fkeys to function like Fkeys, you need to go into the Keyboards System Prefs to check that option.

  • Can I watch a project's finished video full-screen without exporting?

I wonder if I can manage my polished videos in FCP 7's projects and watch them in full screen mode just as I have done in Aperture 3 without having to export them first.

You can watch them full screen using FCP's Digital Cinema Desktop mode ... under the View menu, choose Video Playback > "Digital Cinema Desktop Preview - Main" ... and then press Cmd-F12 (keyboard shortcut for View menu > External Video > All Frames)
Press the spacebar to start/stop playback (same transport controls as usual) and then press Esacpe (or Cmd-F12 again) to toggle turn it off.
Note that this mode is not offering a broadcast quality preview, but just a reasonably good fullscreen proxy of one.

  • Full screen video obscure Motion windows

Part way through creating a composition I find the video window filling the screen and no access to browser inspector etc. I can go to the edge of frame to get me back to desktop which allows me to see these other windows but soon as I touch them the full screen obscures everything. I can move them around by holding the command button but I need another limb then to do my work. I have restarted but it has made no difference.
I have likely hit some key combination but am am lost to continue my project.

You're sure? Holding down the Command (⌘) key and pressing the F12 key? while in full screen? has no effect? F8 blows the window up to full screen, but it sounds like you've activated External Video that's set to Digital Cinema Desktop...

  • Odd Screen wallpaper behind full screen app

My daughter showed me an odd behavior on her MacBook Pro.  When she starts/stops iTunes (most noticeable) and other apps that are in full screen mode, the screen slides over an old wallpaper that isn't visible otherwise. It's not the current wallpaper.  When I hook up an external monitor, it doesn't show up on either screen.  But when you open the full screen app the second monitor shows the mystery wallpaper.  Ctrl-click on the screen doesn't bring up the context menu that would let me change the wallpaper.  If the change-wallpaper panel is already open when you start the full-screen app, it and the wallpaper it was on slide off the screen.   Anyone know how to remove /change the image behind the full screen app transition?

The legacy android viewer didn't support inline videos so they always played full screen. The native Android viewer properly supports inline and full screen. If you want the video to play full screen you have to explicitly set that option in the folio overlay panel on your video overlays.
See Digital Publishing Suite Help | Video overlays for more details on how to use the video overlays panel to set this option.
