Full Screen in Mail

Somehow I got in full screen in Mail and can't revert back to other. How do I get back to where I was? When I'm in full screen I can't access other functions.

If its menubar does not appear when you move the cursor to the top of your monitor, revealing the blue "full screen" toggle, try the key combination for the menu command: ^⌘F (control command eff)
If that doesn't work then quit Mail. If you can't get to its menubar you may have to force quit Mail.

  • How to exit full screen mode mail message

Inexplicably, when i open messages in Mail, they appear in something like full screen mode.   The message viewer window is not in full screen mode, but if i open any message, the message takes up the whole screen. I can drag the message in order to see other things on the desktop, but i can't adjust the size of the window to the size i want, and see no way of exiting full screen mode. I lookd in Help, but it only shows how to enter Full Screen, not how to exit it.
In the View menu, there is an option to enter full screen.  When i have the full screen sized message open on top, the enter full screen option in the View menu is greyed out.  If i have the normal sized window for the message viewer window on top, the enter full screen is not grayed out and could be selected.  I do not select it since there appears to be no 'exit full screen' option that i can see and i don't want to multiply this problem.
I know this might be a silly question, but if they have an enter full screen option, why wouldn't they also have an exit full screen option?
Or is there an exit full screen option which exists somewhere that i have not been able to find?  I've searched Apple Discussions and Google but so far have not found a way to un-full screen my Mail messages.  This started this morning.
    Can anyone help?
I do not know how it got into full screen mode.  It was not something i did deliberately or knowingly.
i have tried quitting and restarting Mail but the full screen message mode returns.
How can i get my mail messages out of this very annoying and awkward screen hogging mode?
I have only been using Mail since last November when i got a new MBP with Mountain Lion, which meant that for the first time since 1995, i could not use the simple straightforward faultless Eudroa anymore.  So i have had my struggles with Mail.  Trying to get through it.  This is the most recent of various similar issues, inexplicable problems without apparent solutions.  Sort of Microsoft-like.
I will be really grateful for any help.. thanks

Press Control + Command + F on your keyboard to enter or exit full screen mode.

  • I suddenly can't have full screen in Mail

I usually can reply email or compose new email in full screen mode, but suddenly it looks like this
It is no longer in full screen mode! What's going on? I am terrified.

Due to software gliches in the ASC, I can't see your screen shots. Can you describe what is in the screen shots?

  • Is there a way to auto-start applications in full screen, such as Safari, Mail, iTunes etc.?

I would like several applications to start in full screen, including Mail, Safari and iTunes, rather than starting them, then making them full screen. Is there a setting somewhere or a way of doing that? Thanks in advance.

I found it. In System Preferences under General "Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps" has to be checked. However when that is checked it takes you back to all of the sites you had open when you quit the app. I would prefer it start full screen, but back at the home page. Do yours do that as well?

  • Open Safari in full screen by default?

Is there any way to set Safari to open full screen? Mail, iTunes etc all open full screen, just safari seems to open in a small window, I know its easy to click the expand button, would be just nice to set it as default.

I found that if you quit Safari (while being in Full-Screen mode) with cmd-alt-q instead of cmd-q it opens in Full-Screen, but you have to remember to always close it with cmd-alt-q
    I'm on Mavericks
Edit: It opens also the last website you have opened, sadly... it is like the option to "close windows when quitting applications" but only for Safari.

  • Full Screen Problem - Dual Monitors - Hulu Desktop

I am using Hulu Desktop with dual monitors. I keep Hulu on full screen on monitor #2. I use monitor #1 for computer use, etc.
It is IMPOSSIBLE to look at an app in full screen mode on monitor #1 and keep my Hulu full screen in monitor #2 at the same time. So if Hulu is playing and I open up a full screen Mail.app...the hulu screen (mon. 2) just shows that grey background.
Apple NEEDS to add a way to make the #2 monitor immune to the spaces functionality. That or make a way so that an app can stay on top of ALL SCREENS not just user-created ones.
I have seen people suggest the, "Right click the app in the dock and choose all screens" but that ONLY works for user-created desktops. It won't make the app be full screen over Mail, iCal, Address book, etc when they make their own spaces window.
    Help! :-)\

    That's annoying, isn't it?
It's why I quit using iTunes in full screen.
I play my movies in VLC and "maximize" the window so I can keep working on the other display. I don't knwo of any other way aorund it.

  • Can only view Mail in full-screen mode

After installing Yosemite, I can only view the main Mail window in Full Screen mode, unless I check "Classic View" in Preferences. Classic view does not help much, because it does not show the preview, which is essential to me. If I exit fullscreen mode, the minimized window appears for a split-second and then disappears down the left bottom corner of the screen and you cannot find it anywhere. The only way to see anything again is to go to Mail - View - Full Screen. Any help is much appreciated.

  • Mail does not scroll while in full screen!

When on full screen mail just ignores the fact that there's more stuff (text, pics...) in the email and does not scroll down. No bar on the side, no scrolling with arrows, touchpad or space bar is working. When I bring it back to a smaller size or just open the email in a sparate screen it works OK.
Not a huge issue, but an irritating one, wonder if this is happening to anyone else? and if anyone has a good fix to it?
    Thanks

the release notes say it has issues in non-interactive mode,
    I'm using doing :
    stage.displayState =
    StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN_INTERACTIVE;
Is there maybe something else I need to set to full screen
interactive? I know I saw somewhere that the person was setting the
htmlLoader's stage to full screen interactive. I tried that but it
    did nothing.
I have the window style set to "system chrome". I tried
transparent and no flash sites worked(full or normal screen) and
opaque worked the same as system chrome.

  • Mail - can't reply in full screen mode

    Hi there
I've been enjoying running Mail in Lion in full screen mode. However if I try to reply to a message, I don't get the reply window come up. It fails whether I use the keyboard shortcut, click on the icon or use the menu command.
I have to leave full screen mode to get a reply message window.
    Any clues on this?

I found this solution online today it worked for me I hope it solves your problem if you haven't already solved it.
This solved my question by BRegan6 on Oct 29, 2014 2:26 PM
I've just gotten off the phone with Apple Support who solved this problem.  Open mail.  Go to Mail Preferences/Viewing and Check box "Use classic view".  Then open a new mail viewer window (File/New Viewer Window).  At this point, assuming you have the same problem that I did where you can only see the window showing emails, but not the email preview window, move your cursor so it hovers right at the bottom edge of the window.  The cursor will change to a horizontal bar and an up arrow.  Click and drag up a few inches.  At this point you should now be able to see the email preview window.  Now go back to Mail preferences and uncheck classic view.  The window now stays open in non-classic view.  Hope this works for you too.

  • How to dismiss Mail Full Screen when composing a new message

OK, so in iOS you can simply pull down the message you are composing to access your inbox, but how can you do this in Yosemite when using full screen?
Here is the scenario: I open Mail in Full Screen mode and start composing a message. I middle of it I realize that I need some info from another mail, but I cannot minimize the new message that I am composing or exit full screen mode. My only option is to the cancel the message I am composing and save it as a draft. Surely there has to be something that I am missing? And don't tell me not to use full-screen mode...
    Screenshot attached?

The work around is to open a New Viewer Window.
If you want to create a new window in Full Screen, expose the Dock while in Full Screen and select New Viewer Window, then navigate to the email that you need information from. You can then swipe between the the two as you require
If you don't want the new instance of Mail to be in full screen, first swipe to another desktop and then open a New Viewer Window

  • Mail attachment issues in full screen apps

This is an interesting issue.  So far it only occurs with MS Excel.  When Mail is open as a full screen app and I open an xlsx file attached to a mail message the screen shifts back over to the desktop screen as it should, but the Excel window remians locked with the Mail full screen app.  At this time, I cannot swipe back over to Mail, it just shifts back over to the desktop screen every time I try.  The only resolution that I have found so far is to quite Mail from my dock icon and relaunch.  This then moves the Excel window to my desktop screen.
I wonder if this is only an issue with programs that do not suppport full screen apps.
    Thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Marc

Have you tried toggling - Command, Control, F
If you do a 5 finger swipe up do you see Apple Mail as it's own desktop?  If so when you expand Apple Mail use the green traffic dot in the upper left side instead of the full screen double arrow on the upper right side.

  • Mail sending issues in full screen

    Hey All,
When mail is in full screen and you are composing a message, the message box doesn't disappear after you click the send button. The little paper airplane button turns off. When you click it again it turns back on. So on and so forth.
A colleauge told me that they recived my email like 10 times because I kept clicking the button.
As soon as I got out of full screen view the compose message box disappeared and the message was sent.
    Anyone else experiance this problem??

Right- mouse click in the top part of the toolbar:
    Hope you can get it!

  • Mail In Full Screen Closes Window after Sending

I love using mail in full screen.
When I send a new message or reply to a message the Mail window closes out of the full screen and closes the mail window.  How do I get the window to stop closing after I send or reply?

I found out what is was. I had serial mail try to send about 200 emails. Something went wrong (not sure whether it is lion compatible) and there were a load of unsent emails somewhere in the background. Funny thing was they were not showing anywhere, just when I tried to close window, an unsent message popped up.
Anyway, force quit mail as I could not be bothered to find out how many mails had not been sent, and on reopening all back to normal

  • In full screen mail, message count vanishes

I'm not sure if this is a Mavericks issue, or has always been an issue. When I use mail with the message viewer as a regular window, the count of messages in the mailbox I'm looking at shows in the window bar. But when I switch to full screen, the count vanishes. Am I missing something?

You're not missing something. When an app is made Full Screen, its title bar is removed. This is true for all apps; though most don't suffer from the loss of a feature the way Mail does.
If you want to see how many messages are in the currently-selected mailbox without leaving Full Screen, move your cursor to the top of the screen to reveal the Menu Bar, click on the "Window" menu and the very last item displayed in the dropdown will be the window title, which includes the message count in parenthesis. Alternatively, you can right-click (two-finger click if on a trackpad) on Mail's icon in the Dock, and it will show you the window name with the message count in parenthesis. Both options are less convenient than glancing at the menu bar, but at least you can remain in Full Screen.

when i open entourage mail it use to be full screen and now its half screen so now i have to hit the maximize button how do i fix this

Click on the green button.  Or you adjust from the bottom right to fill the window.   With Mac OS X 10.7 or later, you can adjust from any of the window edges.  Only upgrade to 10.7 or later if you have read this tip:
