Full screen issues prior to 11

i always seem to find myself wondering, do developers even use their own products? i would assume they do, but i keep seeing stupid workflow issues or simple problems apple was always known for not having. i wont even begin to discuss the direction the hardware is taking (underpowered mini ipad? unreparable/non-upgradable macbook pro?) sheesh, the least you guys could do is make the software work, thats what we pay for. stop worrying about deadlines so much and "make it just work" as youve always been recognized for. ever since mountain lion and full screen apps in osx, it seems as if no one ever used itunes in full screen mode. was it meant to dump you out to the desktop whenever a fullscreen video finishes playback? i patiently waited for the bug fix; though you debut an entirely new version of itunes, and it has yet to be fixed. funny thing is, it has gotten worse. to clarify, itunes is in full screen mode and i choose say, a podcast. although itunes is in position "2" in mission control (dashboard is position "0"), to the right of my primary desktop (position "1"), and fullscreen video playback appears in position "3," upon playback completion i am returned past itunes to my primary desktop. i dont know how this wasnt picked up on and fixed prior to or upon release of version 11. doesnt make much sense to me as to why i have to swipe back to itunes from my desktop to choose the next video since i was in itunes when i chose the video in the first place. in addition, ive also noticed since the release of version 11 that when a video is playing in fullscreen (position "3") and i swipe back to fullscreen itunes (position "2") and choose another video to play without stopping playback, the itunes window replaces my primary desktop (position "1"), leaves the blank grey textured background usually seen behind full screen itunes in position "2" (swiping to it only reverts you back to position "1"), and playback starts fullscreen in its intended place (position "3"). the only ways to fix it is toggle the full screen option for itunes, end the video prior to selecting a different one (which as aforementioned dumps you back to the desktop in position "1"), or quit and restart itunes. aside from the fact that no one seems to like all the "streamlining" that you did to the UI (including me; i dont get the point), i dont understand how you put in so much work in redeveloping an application that wasnt 100% prior to. yes it looks cooler, and sure its cleaner, but is it practical? the workflow is terrible. sidebars became a standard for a reason, they work. you just made a UI that requires me to click more and figure out where you moved everything. did you improve its function? did you simplify its operation? in my opinion, and i imagine many will agree, absolutely not. stop worrying about how things look and pay attention to how things work first. you are deviating from your principal business model and becoming just like all the other development companies who care for nothing but their profits and shareholders. i understand making money is any business's primary goal, but remember what got you here; remember why you have loyal customers. if you forget, we wont be around to catch you when you fall.

I just gave the 4oD site a try (using this link) with the latest runtime and I'm seeing the the scrubber bar, popout and full screen buttons.  I tried IE, Firefox and Chrome.  Could you try doing a clean install and try again?
How do I do a clean install of Flash Player?
Thanks,

  • Full screen issue when utilizing Ease of Use on screen keyboard and RDP in Win8.1

    Hello,
    I am exploring using touch technology with our point of sale application which is delivered to our clients using RDP.  The default touch keyboard in Win8 is basically useless for our application so we enabled the touch keyboard under Ease of Use (EoU)
    which does meet our requirements.   We enabled the KB in docked mode so it is always displayed and locked to the bottom of the display.  The issue is that when we start an RDP session in full screen mode, the RDP session is using the whole screen
    and slipping under the docked EoU KB.  Is there a means to have RDP recognize the reduced screen size with the EoU KB docked and only use the available screen real estate?  I understand that I can configure the RDP settings manually and approximate
    what I'm looking for but this drops the session into a window which is somethibg I'm looking to avoid.

    Hi Steve,
    Thank you for post in Windows Server Forum.
    As per my research, I can say that you need to set the RDP screen size manually. So after setting the size of Full screen RDP you can able to use. You can also try to switch the application in Remote Desktop connection by “Ctrl+Alt+Break”. Please check
    the shortcut to be used when using RDC.

  • Quick Look Full Screen Issue from Desktop

    I have an issue with quick looking files in full screen from a screen other than that which is occupied by the Finder.
    Example, I have a pdf on my desktop, if I Quick Look it, it opens OK on all screens but if I try to go into full screeen from Quick Look it does not work unless I am on the same screen as the Finder.
    On close inspection, this is because the Finder App options is set to 'This Desktop' (control-click on the Finder icon in the dock and choose Options).  If I set it to 'None' then this issue cannot be replicated.  Anyone think that this is an issue with Lion and Quick Look should not be written this way?  This was initially confusing for me and I though that something was broken.

    I remembered that there had been a slight bug in the Leopard Quicklook, so that if you went to full-screen QL, then used Command-Tab to switch to another program, then Command-Tab back to Finder, you would be back in QL Full Screen, but you could now navigate with the arrow keys. At first I thought this had been fixed, and started mucking about with other key combos and accidently got it going again. Took awhile to figure out exactly what I had done, but it works like this:
    1. Select your file, hit spacebar and click the full screen arrows
    2. Command-tab to some other program
    3. Mouse click the toolbar or sidebar of the open folder with your file in it
    4. You can now navigate with the arrow keys
    Although I don't really see how this is better or easier than opening the folder, hitting Command-A, then bringing up QL....

  • Full Screen issue in v 12.0.0.77

    I have an online class that won't allow me to use full screen mode.  When I click on the icon to go to full screen, it tells me:  "Full screen mode is available in Flash Player 9.0.28.0 or later only.  Your current version is 12.0.0.77."   Any suggestions would be appreciated.  Thank you!

    Win2000 is ancient. It runs OLD OLD OLD browsers because newer ones won't install on it. Older browsers will do things with newer code that newer browsers won't because they can't properly parse it. My guess is that the Win2000 machine and ANY browser you use with it... will be seen as "unidentified" by the lesson page, and will default to something close, but not what's actually there.
    IE8 (or 7 or even 6), Firefox 4, Opera 6, Netscape... will all have troubles interpreting code newer than 2010... especially code that's meant for plug-ins which didn't exist when support for those browsers ended.
    I have seen this exact same thing. It happened when Flash Player 10 was first released. "Broadcastify" has pages with local police scanner channels all over the country. The scanner streams using Flash. When FP 10 first came out, I updated and suddenly I lost the scanner because it said "You need a version higher than 9". It was that way for about four months until enpough people complained and they finally updated their code. All has been well since then.

  • Full screen issues with dual monitors in safari.

    I have my 21 inch iMac connected to my 42" panasonic LCD TV. Up until recently I've been watching TV via my sling box back in the states. (I'm a soldier stationed in Germany). When I go to a full screen mode in Safari, I get full screen in my iMac and not the TV. Even when the window is in the TV. This never happened before, it's almost as if the iMac sees the TV but makes all full screen video available only on itself rather than where ever the window may be. Safari help tells me I can choose where I want full screen by swiping on the magic mouse, but I can't get it to work. How do I get my video to stay on my TV when I double click on the video instead of having it jump back to the iMac?

    Reading your post full screen mode is working as Apple intended it to. When you set full screen mode on an app that has the ability it makes it full screen on the Mac and any other monitor is left blank while viewing that app. Currently there are no adjustments to change this. I would recommend providing feedback to Apple at www.apple.com/feedback to let them know what you anticipated.

    Hi eaustria,
    Double check DNS is correctly configured in Server Admin (SA). Also where in Workgroup Manager (WGM) are you trying to create wikis? In 10.5 (Leopard) server wikis were enabled in WGM. In 10.6 (Snow Leopard) server you enable wikis in the web service in SA or under wiki's in Server Preferences.
    Let us know how you get on.

    The entire Firefox window is visible (including tabs, x and +). I can enter and exit full screen, and the menu bar does not reappear.

    If the menu bar is hidden then press the F10 key or hold down the Alt key to make the menu bar appear.

  • Safari will not open in full screen mode

    After installing the 3-1-14 update from the Apps Store, Safari will not open in full screen mode when I click the double arrow in the upper right corner of the screen. If I try the View>Enter Full Screen it still will not open full screen. Prior to this update, everything was fine. I know the info on the update says it deals with iTunes and iBooks, but after installing it my problems began.
    I am running the Mavericks (all updates installed) on an Mac mini (late 2013 edition), 16GB RAM.
    Any suggestions?

    Please disregard my question. The issue disappeared after a cold boot. Thanks.

  • Going full screen in Adobe Reader 7

    I have happily used Acroread 5 under SuSE 9.2 on my desktop. Now I moved a latex-generated PDF presentation of mine on a laptop with SuSE 10.2 and Adobe Reader 7, and I've noted what it looks like a non-conformance to the X11 standards.
    On my old system I used to hit control-L to go full screen in acroread, and I was correctly seeing only the CONTENT of the PDF document.
    With Adobe Reader 7.0 when I go full screen I see also the window manager decorations (title bar and border), which means the bottom part of my slides go off screen.
    Since my window manager is fvwm, I tried instructing the window manager not to produce any title bar or decorations. If I invoke Adobe Reader, the window (not in full screen) honours whatever choices I make for the decorations(none, title bar on top or bottom or sides etc.).
    However as soon as I go full screen, the choices are not honoured and I get the full decorations (title bar on top and borders). Worse than that, when I leave full screen mode the decorations remain and the wm configuration is not honoured.
    I also tried playing with the -geometry switch, but that too is honoured outside of full screen mode only.
    My current workaround is to define an accelerator key in fvwm so that I move the title bar off screen after entering full screen mode. But I regard that as unsatisfactory. I'd strongly prefer a stricter X11 compliance (as acroread 5 had)

    Hello Lucio,
    The issue you have reported is a known issue with Adobe Reader 7. These full screen issues have been fixed in Adobe Reader 8.1.2 (the current latest version) where the window manager decorations are not shown in full screen mode.
    Adobe Reader 8.1.2 has a large number of new features and bug fixes so I would recommend that you upgrade to that. Refer http://blogs.adobe.com/acroread/2008/02/adobe_reader_812_for_linux_and.html for more details.
    Also, if you want to know about future release announcements, stay tuned to the official blog for Adobe Reader on Unix at http://blogs.adobe.com/acroread.

  • Problem with full screen display showing control b...

    Now BT have fixed the squashed full screen issue on the Hudl and other tablets perhaps they can now fix the issue where full screen mode still shows the main control buttons (Back, Home, History) underneath the video leaving the video itself still slightly squashed top to bottom.  Compare with how BBC iPlayer hides the main control buttons until needed and makes full use of the available screen space for the video itself for example.

    I found that since the update to fix the full screen issue I have more options on my tv to alter the picture. I can now zoom in to hide the black bar at the bottom. Worth a try.

  • Air application full screen error in Mac OSX 10.7 Lion

    Hi
       We have an air application built using Flash Builder 4.5 with 4.5 SDK.
       The air application no problem to run on Windows and Mac OSX 10.6 Snow Leapard. However it has full screen issue on Mac OSX 10.7 Lion. When change to full screen mode, the whole screen disappear, press ESC and turn back to normal stage without any issue.
       We then use Flash Builder 4.5 with SDK 4.6 to compile and release, install the air application to Lion OS but still no luck.
       Air 3.1 installed on Lion OS
       Can some one please help?

    Is this still a problem?

  • Full screen flickering

    Hello, I'm having some full screen issues like so m any people. I just finished converting my game to full screen mode, but now there are some problems with flickering which seems to be coming from when new images are loaded. Has any one else ever experienced a problem like this? I believe I'm going to use media tracker to finish loading the images and hope that helps. But, the computer also seems to stop updating the screen sometimes in which never happened when it was windows.
    These are the lines I used for buffering stratagie---
    (in main method)
    GraphicsConfiguration gc = device.getDefaultConfiguration();
    setUndecorated(true);
    setIgnoreRepaint(true);
    device.setFullScreenWindow(this);
    this.createBufferStrategy(2);
    bufferStrategy = this.getBufferStrategy();
    Thread th = new Thread (this);//other calculations
    th.start ();
    graphicsThread.start();//paints graphics
    --------------------------------------(this is for drawing graphics)
    class graphicsThread implements Runnable {
    private Thread thread = null;
    public void start() {
    if (thread == null) {
    thread = new Thread(this);
    thread.start();
    public void run() {
    thread.setPriority(9);
    while(true) {
    Graphics g;
    g = bufferStrategy.getDrawGraphics();
    render(g);
    g.dispose();
    bufferStrategy.show();
    I am unsure if I want to try Volatile images or not. The frame rate is a bit low, but not unexceptable as I'm working on an RPG it isn't that important. So if anyone could help me with BufferStrategies I would be greatly obliged!

    yes, u have to ensure your images are fully loaded before you start rendering them.
    MediaTracker will do this for you.
    Alternatively you can load your images synchronously using ImageIO.read(..)
    (Note however, images returned from ImageIO are not ManagedImages - they must be copied to a ManagedImage before they will be elligable for hardware acceleration)
    As for the app. failing specifically when in fullscreen mode.
    What Java version are you using?
    There are alot of bugs related to fullscreen, most have been fixed in Java1.4.2 so i'd try upgrading to that and see if it fixes your problem.
    And with regard to the frame rate, if you are doing it right, you should be able to render several 1000 images at 60fps without to much hassel.
    Just make sure all your images are either ManagedImages or VolatileImages (depending on the circumstances, each have their uses.)

  • 10.6.3 and full screen problems!

    Ever since updating to 10.6.3 I can't view any videos or photos in full screen mode...firefox, safari, iPhoto, preview, etc all just give a black screen (though I can still hear audio from videos). Extremely frustrating! In iPhoto, if I double click a photo to view it, it now does absolutely nothing...full screen mode just shows a black screen (I also can no longer edit photos). I am also having major permissions problems with windows smb servers (and have tried fixing permission several times).
    Anyone else having this problem?

    I've heard of the Windows SMB issues but not a solution.
    Regarding the full screen issue(s), do you have any external displays and what resolution are you using? Maybe you have some QuickTime plugins that aren't compatible? Check /Library/Quicktime/.
    Do you have another system to test with?
    What version of iPhoto? (X.y.z version format)
    If you have switchable graphics in the Energy Saver, try switching and logging out. If you haven't restarted, try that. Full screen videos in your browser may be Flash. See if there's a later Flash plug-in from Adobe.
    Good Luck!

  • IPad IOS 8.1 full screen safari web app display issue

    My company produces a web app that is intended to be used from the iPad's Full Screen Home Screen launch.
    we are using the tags:
    <meta name="apple-mobile-web-app-capable" content="yes">
    <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0, user-scalable=no" >
    Since taking the updates to IOS 8, 8.1, & 8.2, when the app is launched in full screen mode from the home screen, the iPad's top line including the text "iPad", its signal strength, VPN status, current time, battery life, and blue-tooth indicators are superimposed on the top line of every page - making it difficult to read that top line of data coming from our app.
    Additionally, there appears to now be a blank white band that shows up on the footer of the web app.  Both of these new additions to the full screen appearance is yielding a somewhat less professional appearance.
    Is there some sort of tag or other setting that we can use to hide these new areas that are appearing?

    This is a better illustration.   I'm thinking that the white band at the bottom of the screen should be at the top of the screen (like the iphone does) and the web content should be shifted down that amount of space.
    the white band is hard to see with this white background however, but its obvious on the ipad in full screen mode... so go to the link on your device, save it to the home screen and relaunch...
