Full Screen: Low battery warnings not shown

When running in complete full screen mode the low battery warnings on my laptop don't show. This makes for some rather surprising screen blank outs as the system goes to sleep (battery conserving mode caused by critical level).
OS=Vista
Task bar set to auto-hide

Desiree, with the stats you've stated, how much battery life have you got left?
From your stats: you charged your phone 1 day ago and you've had 5Hrs, 20Mins usage.
Your usage isn't something I would consider to be excessive and with this sort of usage, you'd ideally expect the phone to have at the very minimum half of it's charge, but ideally about 3/4. I'm of course basing this on the performance of my current phone, which with similar usage as yours and over 2 days, 14 or so hours on standby, still has 1/2 full battery.
I don't want to get too much into the technical stuff, I'm more interested in real world figures and expectation.
With your stated usage above, if you did that everyday, I would and I'm sure you would too, expect at least 3 if not 4 days usage without worrying about the battery running out.
On my old phone, this kind of usage would have killed it in just over a day. Something which I did not find acceptable and was clearly a problem.
I don't want people to start worrying unnecessarily about their battery life if they don't even have a problem. What I'm saying is that with the kind of usage you state, if you still have 1/2 or above battery charge left (with about a day on standby) then I doubt you have anything to worry about. If you can barely get a day and a half out of your phone on this kind if usage then I wouldn't find this normal and you should probably get a 'genius' to have a look at it.
EDIT: I forgot to say: I'm not sure how the Call Time status works. Mine reports the current period as 40 mins and Lifetime as 5Hrs,18mins, but I know I've only made/received no more than 12 mins of calls, since I got this phone

  • [solved] creating low battery warnings

i use i3 as my window manager, and i'd like to create some low battery warnings. i have laptop-mode-tools and acpid installed.
what's the best way to generate low battery warnings? i was thinking of simply running i3-nagbar with a message when the battery reaches a certain threshold.

/dev/zero: yes, i read that thread. that's why i created this one. i was wondering what the best way was.
what i ended up doing was the following. i created two files:
    <snip>...</snip>
acpid is running, and i have already run chmod on the script.
but for some reason, nothing happens. did i miss something?
You should have put all this information in the opening post. Please consider the link in the Forum Guidelines to ESR's "How to ask questions the smart way".
I'm not sure why you've done things the way you have, it's totally different to the method described in the pre-existing thread. If you're following some other how-to, even if it's the wiki, you should link to it. Again, cf ESR.
I haven't tried my method with i3, but I expect all you need to do is modify the provided script to call i3-nagbar, instead of espeak.

  • Troubles with the 'low battery' warnings

    Hi all!
Lately I've been getting "low battery" warnings, even when my iPod mini is fully charged, it shuts off, a minute later I am able to turn it back on, and it shows that the battery is fully charged... is this normal??? It's been happening a lot over the past week.
My iPod isn't THAT old... I think I bought it in September or October... would it need to be refurbished already?

    Hello Paul:
My own experience is that when the warning pops up (regardless of the yellow bars), you need to change the batteries. In my case I use rechargeable 2500 mAh batteries and an Energizer recharger that charges AA and AAA batteries in 15 minutes.

Try to edit the size of the page using the sides of the page, or if you are desperate, force quit using command-Q. In full screen put your cursor on the top of the page, and the menu bar will appear. If it doesn't keep "pushing" it up until it does. Hope this helps!

  • Is there any way to turn the low battery warnings off for my Mighty Mouse?

I noticed a pop-up warning on start-up when my battery life reached two bars for my new wireless Mighty Mouse. Also the battery sign kept on flashing in my menu bar.
I was wondering if there was a way of turning these warnings off, save uninstalling the Apple software, or should I just change batteries and not worry about getting as much use as I can out of my current pair.
I've also turned off "show bluetooth status in menu bar" in mouse preferences but it keeps on turning on at startup and it doesn't seem to get rid of the low battery indicator flashing on and off in the menu anyway.
(And would turning off system events as a login item disable the startup warning?).
    Thanks
    Paul

  • Battery level not shown correctly

Hi! After charging my iPhone5, display continues to show "low battery". If I switch off and on the phone, battery level is shown correctly and decreases correctly till low level; then it rests stuck again. Please help! Thanks!

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We're all users here.
First, try an SMC reset, as detailed here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964
Since you mention both battery and performance slowdown, that might cure both issues.
PRAM doesn't often cause the problems you mention but a PRAM reset is detailed here, because people often do both:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
And your battery may need calibrating, after the SMC reset:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1490
And if none of this helps, the battery is likely failing. Even though there is no Apple Store, there is probably an authorized Apple dealer or repair center near you. When I searched from the US, this link appeared: http://www.apple.com/ie/contact/
Another cause of decreased performance is that your hard drive might be getting full. Do you have less than 10% free space? If you recently upgraded to OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion and you're trying to run it in less than 4GB RAM, that may also be responsible for loss of performance. But neither of these issues should cause the battery problems you mentioned.

  • Full screen pictures in slideshow not sharp

Full screen pictures shown in the slideshow are not sharp, they're blurry. Very disappointing.
In the library they look sharper but not as sharp as exported files (jpeg).
Is this normal?  Is it not possible to see sharpening inside Lightroom?
    thanks in advance,
    jan

If you're referring to an iWeb photo page slideshow or album page slideshow the answer is no. iWeb doesn't provide for a full screen display of a photo. You would have to add some javascript via HTML snippet to alter iWeb's slideshow feature.
There is a way to do what you want with one of the 3 party javascript slideshows. The one that comes to mind is the one in this demo page: Jalbum. Jalbum has over 100 skins/themes that you can choose from. Many will let you select the image size to display.
If you select Borderless Slideshow from the Theme menu and click on the blue/green icon in the upper right hand corner of the example it will convert to full screen. You will have to determine how large a photo you'll need to use for the monitor you want to fill.

  • I can't restore my toolbars and the "full screen" mode button is NOT at the top right-hand corner of my browser (or anywhere else)

My toolbar and menu is gone from Firefox. I have tried closing the browser and opening new ones and all the suggestions in the help forums on this website (as well as several others). Pressing "alt", "F10", "F11" and SEVERAL other things have NOT helped.
There is no full screen mode button anywhere on my browser and when I put my cursor at the top of the window, NO menu options appear at all.
I normally would quit Firefox but the icon won't appear in my dock and my computer won't let me eject the application (to download again) because apparently it's in use (even when I've closed all windows).

F11 doesn't work on a Mac to toggle full screen mode.
Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: Command+Shift+F).

  • My new update to FF version 33 is installed LOCKED in full screen and I can not get to my desktop

I use a HDMI TV as a monitor. When I upgraded to ver 33.02(?), it locked in FULL SCREEN and my TV/Monitor is not adjustable so the option at the top "EXIT FULL SCREEN" is not showing or available and must be rolled off the top.
I can not find any way to get out of it in the new release 33.02(?) and now am using IE for this post as this full screen makes FF almost inoperable.
If necessary, I would be glad to permanently disable the full screen for FF as it is a real pain.
    Thanks

  • Apple icon, sad face, and low battery symbol (not charging) what's going on

my iPod U2 4th gen started acting up on me. it needed to be reset more and more often, until it decided to just stop working all together. it would show me the apple sign, sad face, and low battery symbols. bought and installed new battery, won't charge. it changes from apple icon to sad face back and forth on it's on when plugged into wall with firewire. goes from apple icon to sad face when connected to pc via USB. pc won't recognize it. please help! i've tried everything! is there something wrong with my hard drive? i'll pay anything to save the files on my hard drive. HELP!!!!!

Hey man...I have the EXACT same Ipod with the EXACT same problem. I went to the apple store and they told me I had to wait 3 days to make an appointment with a "Mac Genius" to look at it and that with all the repairs done it would probably cost me $150. Frustrated, I went home and did some research and heres what I found:

    http://notpopular.com/blogs/josh/2006/03/29/fix-your-ipod-by-spanking-it/
I kid you not. So basically I put the wall charger on, let it charge for 3 hours. Took it off the wall plug and then slapped the $#!t out of it 4 or five times. Then turned it on. Same sad face. Tried a combination of the reboot procedure and slapping around and now it works! Good luck and hope it works for you too!
I feel like going to the apple store and slapping the crap out of "Mac Rip Ppl off Genius"

  • Low battery warning - not working

I used to get a low battery warning before my MacBookPro would automatically shut down. Now, all of a sudden I no longer get the warning pop-up message and the computer just suddenly shuts down when the battery is low. Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Scott

Yeah, it's happening to all of us on 10.4.10. Good news is it goes into hibernate (disk suspend) rather than just dieing. There is a setting to turn on a warning, but I forgot where. Surprisingly, it is not in Power.
