Full Screen Mode Not Working In iTunes

With the latest iTunes update, when I play anything in "Full Screen" mode, I get the black background with this tiny (smaller than a postcard) picture. Anyone else having the same problems? Any suggestions? This problem never happened before. Seems to be related to the recent update. I think the update is telling my computer to act like an iPod, which unfortunately it is. Appreciate any help. Standing by.

Bingo! Problem solved. I didn't realize that you could "right click" the mouse over the "resize" icon in full screen mode. When I did that I found I was in the tiny postcard mode. Selecting "full screen" got me back to where I used to be..enjoying the tv shows in full screen mode. Kinda of weird. Choosing "full screen" from the menu bar didn't make the show full "pictured" though I was in full screen mode. But while in the full screen mode, I could right-click and choose "full screen" and there I be, watching a show in "full pictured". Learned something new.

  • Full screen mode not working for original user

    Hi,
    Whenever I go to start a full-screen mode in iTunes, iCal, Mail, etc. the program makes the default error sound and doesn't enter full screen. This appears in the console, but I'm not sure how to diagnose it:
    21/07/11 9:11:18.253 PM Mail: ___createFullScreenMessageConnection_block_invoke_1: Fullscreen message error: Connection invalid
    Furthermore, apps like Mail and Safari get interface glitches, which require a restart of the program to fix.
    However, the programs work fine in full screen on other user accounts, but I don't want to have to start a new one and move ~400GB of data between them. Is there any way of fixing this? I've also tried reseting permissions.

    Resetting my user preferences hasn't helped either.

  • Full screen mode not working in Mountain Lion

    I'm using the new Retina Macbook Pro. The full screen mode to preview pictures and movies is not working; the dock still remains open when the full screen is open. I have to manually hide the dock by pressing command + D and do the same to open the dock again. This doesnt seem to an OS issue because my Macbook Air, which is also running Mountain Lion is doing just fine. I can preview a picture and the dock automatically hides.
    Has anyone experienced the same issue? What is the fix for this problem?

  • Full Screen Mode - not "Full" on MacBook Pro w/30" Display

    I'm using a 15" MacBook Pro (early 2011) OS 10.7.2 w/Photoshop 12.1 x64. I'm using a 30" Cinema Display. When I select Full Screen with Menu Bar Mode there is a gap at the bottom of the screen where the desktop is visible. I also notice that the Rotate View Tool is not available when the 30" display is in use with MacBook, although it IS available when I work from the MacBook screen. (Open GL Mode - Normal is selected in PShop Prefs) Any fixes for this?
    I also work at another studio which has a MacPro running PS 12.1x64 on a 30" display. The full screen mode & Rotate View both work properly on that system.
    Perhaps someone will insist that this is a question for the Apple forum, but I'm guessing that forum will insist that I start here. So here goes. Thanks.

    Hi,
    I'm having exactly the same hard- and software configuration like you, Gordito73 - up to date of course as well. Aperture continues to crash after it really seams to run out of memory while editing lots of photos with many different effects. -.-

  • Full screen won't work in iTunes 9 at resolution greater than 1152

    I just installed iTunes 9 and with my resolution set at 1280x1024, which I've had it at for years (running Win XP Pro), I cannot get Full Screen feature to work. If I set the resolution to 1152x864 or lower it works fine. I've had no problems with Full Screen on any of the earlier versions that feature it.

    Uninstalled iTunes 9 and reinstalled 8. I guess I'll wait until apple puts out a version that's not a piece of ****.

  • Remote desktop full screen mode not going full screen

    Hi,
    Running Windows 7 RTM x64 on both my PC at home and my workstation at work.
    My PC at home has a square monitor and my work PC has a widescreen monitor.
    I used webapps (citrix) from home to get into work environment then remoted to my workstation.
    Since doing that, when I am physically at the workstation (at work), I can no longer remote desktop to servers in full screen mode.  Instead, it does a smaller window with "full screen settings".  Basically the full screen remote desktop is about 3/4 size of the monitor, not 100%.
    Any help appreciated.
    -thanks

    I  have this problem too ... On Windows 7.
    Dell XPS14 laptop ... No Pause Key ... No Break Key... (ctrl +alt + fn + F12) doesn't work.
    The thing that bugs me most is ..... What's
    changed and WHY?
    I've been using remote desktop for years and maximizing always used to send it to full screen.
    Now suddenly I can't go to full screen without exiting and resetting the screen size with the slide bar in the options!
    WHY
    Seems this has been broken in Windows 7. It still works fine as it used to on my old M65 running Vista.
    Why has
    this been broken in Windows 7? How come no one at MS noticed?
    The marked answer is not acceptable. Sure it works when you initially open the connection but if
    you minimize or restore the window the problem comes back as before.
    Hi, I'm on a Dell Inspiron N5010 and for me, the winning combination was Ctrl-Alt-Fn-F6. Toggles full screen and windowed screen.

  • IPhoto:  I clicked Enter Full Screen by mistake, now I can't get out of it. The button in View to exit full screen does not work.  I cannot see any other way to exit full screen.  In full screen, I cannot see my events, nor can I do any quick fixes.

    I accidentally got into Full Screen mode in iPhoto, and can't figure out how to get out of it.  The last item in View is unresponsive (Exit full Screen).  I've looked online but can't find any way to get out of iPhoto full screen--no arrows show on top right or bottom right.  I cannot find 'events' or crop photos, the only option I have is to scroll through a certain number of photos that I don't want to see.  Please, I just want to get out of Full screen mode.  Please help.  Thanks.

    Give this a try:
    1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
    2 - delete the contents the following folder: User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto
    3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try full screen again.
    NOTE: For Mavericks and Yosemite,  go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
    where you can check the Show Library Folder checkbox.

  • Safari Full Screen Mode not full screen

    In full screen mode in Safari 7 I cannot hide the tool bar.  Hide toolbar is greyed out. This used to be possible in the previous version of Safari.  Is there a way round this?
    Curiously most of the toolbar can disappear in non full screen mode.
    David

    Hmm, i think i phrased original question badly, i am looking for auto-hide to be featured in normal window mode as well as fullscreen, and whatever else designers and programmers can dream up and not execute poorly.
    I have now disabled all EXTENSIONS and removed all 3rd party bars (google, sharethis, never used nayway;) and as my suspicions confirmed Safari is running much better. I was very suspicious of this when it was added as it seemed like trying to match Firefox, which I also gave up some time ago in place of Chrome as my second browser, although I use Safari for 90%. The extensions i think causes freezing when i had Parallels running a Windows VM at the same time and also other times when not.
    The extensions is a bit stupid in my opinion as any niggling, minor feature of a website should be addresses to the website rather than the browser. Where adverts are concerned, well, just use the web less or more specifically!
    I think I'm fine with Toolbar/URL-search and bookmark bar, its great - simple and not intrusive. I believe EXTENSIONS introduction gave me some sort of weird mental outlook and would urge Apple to be more careful in bringing in different types of features unnecessarily.

  • Have Pinned site shortcut open in full screen mode (not maximized)

    Hello.  I'm currently in the testing phases of migrating all of our users from a locally installed client version of their email to a web version of their email.  I'd really like the webmail version to look more like an application than a website.
    Is there any way to make the pinned site shortcut (not all sites) open in full screen mode when double clicked?  Another wish list item would be for the URL field to be removed from it as well.  Chrome provides this functionality by making a site
    into an application, but then any link you click on within your email opens up in Chrome and thats a deal breaker for me.  Does anyone know if this is possible in internet explorer 9?  Thanks in advance

    any way to make the pinned site shortcut (not all sites) open in full screen mode when double clicked?
    I think it does which is a surprise.  E.g. if you last closed an IE window in Fullscreen mode it can open up again in Fullscreen mode.  This may be in response to user complaints about Maximized mode which would still be a problem because that
    is the OS doing.  However, even there it has always been possible to open a window from a shortcut in Maximized mode.  The problem is that any windows spawned from that one will have the original window's Normal mode attributes in terms of size and
    shape.

  • Full Screen Mode not advancing

    I am trying to run a Flash Presentation in Full Screen Mode and the mouse click or space bar will not advance the presentation.  However, when I exit full screen mode the presentation has actually advanced with the number of mouse clicks attempted in full screen mode.  It is like the full screen slide becomes "frozen".  Can anyone out there help me figure this out?

    stage.addEventListener(Event.RESIZE, resizeHandler);
    private function resizeHandler(event:Event):void {

                } else {
                    video.smoothing = false;
                ActivateHandler();
    public function ActivateHandler():void {
                container.y = stage.stageHeight -185;

  • Does Full Screen HD actually work in iTunes 9 ?

    I would like to be able to watch iTunes HD TV shows and movies on my Windows 7 HTPC (42" Sony LCD) in full screen mode without seeing the edges of the desktop. If I hit ctrl+F the playback window disappears but the soundtrack continues to play. So then I tried ctrl+3 (view>video size>fit to screen) and I get a playback window that goes from the top of the display to the taskbar and leaves two strips of desktop exposed along the sides. Then I discovered if I hide the task bar I can stretch the window to cover the desktop but it still has the grey bar at the top and bottom of the playback window which is surprisingly distracting when watching in a darkened room. I was really hoping HD playback would be a little better in iTunes, it's just too fussy. Does anyone have any other ways to achieve what I am trying to do?
    Thanks.
    Chris

    That's a great solution IF you can do it. I am running a Sony VPCL117FX touch screen with 24" display (mainly because of a visual impairment) and switching to 100% make everything so small that it's unusable for me.

    I opened iTunes whilst my phone was plugged into my pc via USB and was told to update the software so I did.

    I have tried many times but iTunes is still not noticing that my iphone5s is plugged in.
    PLEASE HELP ME!

  • How do I get full screen mode to work on my second monitor?

    I have a MacBook Pro with Lion, and I want to open my apps fullscreen on my larger display. However, full screen always defaults to MBP screen.

    John101,
    welcome to the Discussion forums.
    The Image Adjustment feature works for me on both image placeholders and dragged-in images. Did you "mark" the image, so that small squares appear around it?
    Regarding your second question: the problems are solved in 10.4.4 (see http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1496754&#1496754), so you might consider an upgrade.

  • Full screen view not working...please help!

    When I try to edit pictures or view them in the full screen, they do not appear. It's just a grey screen with an exclamation point in the middle. Any help that can be offered is much appreciated. thank you.

    iPhoto is a database, with a built-in image viewer, version control and lightweight editing. Like all databases it is designed so that you manipulate the data, in this case your photos, via the application. If, as you have done, you manipulate the data via another app., (the Finder), iPhoto loses track of the files and you get the exclamation point.
    The point of iPhoto is that you do you organisation in the iPhoto Window - there you can create your albums, slideshows etc., keyword, edit and so on, and leave the File Management to the application.
    To correct the problem that currently exists:
    In The iPhoto Window:
    1. Get rid of the thumbnails that no longer connect to a pic by putting them into the iPhoto trash.
    2. Move the pictures from your Originals Folder inside the iPhoto Library Folder to you Desktop, and import them again. (File -> Import)
    3. Empty the iPhoto trash (iPhoto -> Empty Trash)
    This should at least get you to a point where the thumbnails match to a photo again.
    A Note about the iPhoto Library Folder:
    In this folder there are various files, which are the Library itself and some ancillary files. Then you have three folders
    Originals are the photos as they were downloaded from your camera or scanner.
    (ii) Modified contains edited pics, shots that you have cropped, rotated or changed in any way.
    This allows the Photos -> Revert to Original command - very useful if you don't like the changes you've made.
    (iii) Data holds the thumbnails the the app needs to show you the photos in the iPhoto Window.
    Again, any organisation you wish to do, do it in the iPhoto Window. If you have any difficulty achieving something consult the Help or post again on here.
    Regards
    TD
