Full screen options.

Can I go full screen in safari/movie on my thunderbolt display and not effect the usage/work on my laptop display?
For example:
Have a movie playing in a browser on full screen on my thunderbolt display while working on my laptop display?
(Previous attempts will trap my mouse on the thunderbolt display where the movie is playing.)
Full screen Safari on Thunderbolt display and have a different application open on my laptop screen?
(Previous attempts have forced my laptop screen to its background image.)
Sorry if my description is a bit confusing .... I hope you (the community) understand my question

As Steve indicates, it's not easy.
Authorware doesn't 'scale' like Flash does.
You could do what you want by detecting the screen size and change the size of the Presentation window by using the ResizeWindow function.
That'll change the size of the 'stage' but all your content will still be fixed where it was before, likely top-left just as the 'fullscreen' option works (or doesn't work as the case may be).
Now most all elements can be placed via custom x/y coordinates. So you *could* base every element's position on the size of the presentation window itself. However, that's surely complex even for a fairly basic piece.
The more common approach was to use the cover.u32, or the subsequent RGBcover.u32 (see http://www.awaretips.net) to 'black out' any of the desktop that the presentation window does not cover - making it look somewhat full-screen...though everything in the window is still at its default size and placement...but at least it's centered.
I think cover.u32 stopped working on XP though RGBcover.u32 still does....I could be wrong in that recollection though.
Otherwise, Authorware is just built to deliver to a set size. There are workarounds but definitely none as easy as a simple scale.

  • How disable the full screen option in the standard or wireframe video player ?

I was wondering if (and how) it's possible to just disable the full screen option in the controls that appear below the video player (standard or wireframe).
I want to have a video player with the progression bar, play / pause options, the counter without the full screen option because: "When someone clicks the Full Screen button during playback, the video opens in a pop-up window. Any interaction used to transition to a new state in the application does not work."

I don't think so from within Flash Catalyst. That is all part of the component. I took a quick look at the docs, and did not see that element at as a parameter. There are only two options I can think of: either build a custom controller in  Flash Catalyst (which may not have all the same functionality as the stock controller) or take your project into Flash Builder and modify the controller skin there.

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

  • Full screen option minimizes the window?

When I click the full screen option in the firefox dropdown menu or use the toolbar icon the page minimizes to my taskbar immediately and becomes non functional. It freezes there until I close/re-open the browser. I'm using a firefox theme (Orange Fox 4.0.29.03.11) . I'm brand spankin new to the firefox browser so it may be something I'm not doing correctly. I thought maybe this theme may not be compatible or buggy to this version of firefox. Any help much appreciated. Thanks.

The question is whether the iPad screen is built to US Quarto (used by 5% of the planet) or to the International standard A4.
The proportions seem to suggest that the design is USA only.

  • Impossible to visualize some photos in the full screen option

I would like to discuss the problem I have with iPhoto. After a couple of years of use, I realized that pictures downloaded in the application and then not modified in some way (e.g. correcting exposure, contrast...) loose after some months the possibility to be seen in the full screen option (a gray background with a white rectangle appears), whereas those modified with the application mantain this option. To avoid this problem I have to modify in some way all the pictures downloaded in iPhoto. Any idea about?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the apple and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Be sure to include the option to check and repair permissions in the Library.

  • Youtube full screen option not working any more

Until a few days ago, I was able to view YouTube videos using the full screen option. Now, all of a sudden, this doesn't work. When I click on the full screen icon, the video remains playing in the small format. I haven't changed anything on my computer (an iMac running OSX 10.6.8).  This is on Safari. Is there anything I can do on my end, or is the problem on YouTube's side?
    Thanks!

A Solution: I was having the same problem on BOTH my imac running Snow Leopard and MBAir running Lion, up until now...try this; worked for me:
    (1) Download latest version of adobe Flash.
    (2) Reset Safari (as in, click on Safari tab up top, then click Reset Safari).
    Hope it helps.

  • How to disable the FULL SCREEN option in the 'Insert Video and Audio' option

    Hi,
I've been inserting some MP3's and using an image for pupils to click on to play the sound, the images are 100 pixels by 100 pixels.
The only issue is that I have the grey rectangle 'Full Screen' box over the picture. This is ideal when I put videos on but not necessary when you have just an MP3. Also I've noticed that the 'Styles' option is greyed out and due to that I can't change the
    colour of the play button.
I've been inserting MP3's direct from my PC hard drive to the webpage.
    Any help'd be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
Per my understanding, you might want to disable the “Full Screen” button and make other customization when there is an audio file in the page.
By default, when we insert an audio/video file into page via “Insert Video and Audio” button in the ribbon, an OOTB Media Web Part will be added into the page contains
the file you added, the “Full Screen” button is a part of this Media Web Part.
In consideration of you might have other requirements on designing the style, I would suggest you create a custom Media Web Part instead which will enable you customize
    the style as you want.
About creating a custom Media Web Part, you can use the <audio> tag:

  • 'Do not ask me again' Silverlight full screen option reset

I selected 'Do not ask me again' in a text box before going into full screen for a Silverlight video website. I was given two options and now realise I should have chosen the other option. I have reset Safari, uninstalled and reinstalled Silverlight and I still can't seem to get the text box option back.

There is a reset warnings button in the preferences in the latest iTunes.
    Edit>>Preferences>>advanced.
I haven't tried it yet, but it may at last be possible to avoid that deleting the preference files thing.

  • No FULL SCREEN option for slideshow photos?

When creating a new project in iDVD, there only seems to be two screen size options: 4:3 ratio or 16:9 ratio. Is there not some way of selecting FULL SCREEN? As all my digital photographs are 4:3 ratio, that is what I selected.... but there are big chunks of black screen all around all my slideshow photos in the finished iDVD. Very annoying!!!!

Turning off the TV safe area is to prevent parts of the images from being lost, which is not the issue here. The problem I'm having is that there there are black bars around the entire displayed image. I believe this is called windowboxing. Letterboxing has black bars at top and bottom of screen, pillarboxing has the black bars at the left and right of screen. It's all to do with the ratio of the photographs.
My photos were all taken with a digital camera and are 4:3 ratio. I want the images to display FULL SCREEN. They are not doing this - not on a TV monitor - and not on a computer monitor!!! Is windowboxing hard-wired into the iDVD themes? This can't be right. PLEASE HELP!!!

  • OSX Lion I do not have full screen option for Safari for any user accounts

In my iMac I have three user accounts plus the guest account. For all accounts exept the guest account Safari do not show the full screen icon or give the option from the menu. Does some one have the same problem and does someone know how to get this feature. PS! I have upgraded to LION!

It's pretty simple to create your own Full Screen keyboard shortcut. Here is what I did and it works perfectly:
    1. System Preferences
    2. Keyboard
    3. Keyboard Shortcuts tab
    4. Application Shortcuts
    5. Click + symbol at bottom or right box and select All Applications
    6. Set Menu Title for Enter Full Screen &  Set Keyboard Shortcut for Control + Command + F click Add
    7. Repeat Step 5
    8. Set Menu Title for Exit Full Screen &  Set Keyboard Shortcut for Control + Command + F click Add
    9. Exit System Preferences and use the new keyboard shortcuts on all apps that have Full Screen capabilities.

  • Alternate full-screen options?

I'd like to get Aperture 2 to run full-screen (i.e. covering the dock) in the same way that Adobe Lightroom does. Without really changing anything except that I want to use it within Spaces and I want the dock to be covered up so I can get full use out of my 30" monitor. Is this possible?
I know there is a full-screen mode, but it's not quite the way I'd like it to be. I want it exactly the same as it is normally, but taking up the whole screen.

    ttl_kurtis wrote:
It does, but then you have the menus differently than they are in normal view mode. I don't want anything different except for the program to be fullscreen - i don't get why they don't have an option for that.
And I don't want to do a workaround like moving my dock or hiding it etc.
Saying "don't want to do a workaround" implies a flaw that needs fixing or working around. Frankly I think the way the F key works is ideal, very similar to F key usage in Photoshop. If you don't like that "feature" I guess you look for a "workaround."
Most folks in AP stay there focused on workflow, not bouncing to other apps constantly that would require constant vision of the Dock, and during full screen viewing most folks want the image on the full screen, uncompromised by the Dock.
If one does need the Dock a simple tap on the F key brings you back to seeing it. Aperture is generally very customizable. Note that thumbs can be relocated and there are possible key commands for almost everything, including key command to move direct to an image editor like Photoshop without accessing the dock.
Personally I put the Dock on the side because when viewing images with modern widescreen displays there is invariably excess room on the sides rather than on the bottom, helping to minimize inadvertent access of the Dock. It is simply a matter of personal preference, as is whether or not one wants the Dock to always take visible screen space or hide itself. Me, I let it hide but I know lots of other folks who do not hide the Dock.
