Full screen quicktime at 1680 x 1050

Have any of you heard that quicktime running full screen at 1680 x 1050 can be a problem because the 1050 height is not divisible by four???

Because that's a low barrier to entry (a content provider could just add a few pixels to make it 1052 and take advantage of the computational savings), many of the recent ones like MPEG-4 and Sorenson work better given these dimensions. I think older codecs like Cinepak may have have a divisible by 2 but I'm probably wrong about that. (Cinepak doesn't look very good anyway).
Perhaps one of the "archive" formats like PNG or Animation might play at the same speed, but they're quite computationally intensive as well. What are you trying to accomplish at this specific resolution?

  • Full Screen Quicktime during Presentation?

Can anyone think of a way to go to different full screen Quicktimes during a presentation? I can't think of anything.
    Thanks.

you mean OTHER than putting each one on a slide and stretching it to fill the slide?
I've had multiple QT movies sitting open in the QT Pro player before. I hit H to hide Keynote and fire which ever video I want to screen 2. Works great.

  • Cant get full screen...

I am running a mac mini on an LG 42" plasma TV and have tried all the various screen resolutions. My problem is that I have videos which are 624x368 (close enough to accurate 16:9 widescreen video) and these display as a full frame image (no black bars) within the Quicktime viewer. However when i make it full screen Quicktime adds black bars to the top and bottom of the image, therefore squashing it. I assume it is doing this as the macmini thinks the LG TV is 4:3 and needs the black bars to look correct.
The only 16:9 resolution available on the macmini appear to be 1024x720 but this looks wrong on my TV and you lose the dock and menu bar. I have also tried 1920x1080, but the resolution is too high for the television and the text becomes illegible. So it would seem that the macmini knows it is in the wrong aspect for a widescreen tv and is compensating by adding the black bars top and bottom. But although the resolution is not correct it is fine for computing, and if I could fill the screen with the video image it would then be in the correct aspect.
So how can I get Quicktime to fill the screen and ignore the fact that the macmini thinks the tv is wrong?

*Not sure if this will work. May depend on the model of the TV.*
When I am watching a movie either from a DVD or from the 52" screen non plasma TV itself that has those black bars (top & bottom) I just use Zoom mode to get rid of the bars. My picture is not distorted in any way.
On my 42" screen plasma TV, I use *Movie Theater* mode to get rid of the black bars. No picture distortion.
Check your TV manual. Should be some instructions in there for what you are trying to do.

  • Full screen Flash video is extremely slow

I have a 2010 27" iMac with an ATI Radeon HD 4670 graphics card. Full screen Flash video (e.g., Hulu) is extremely slow and choppy on it (4-5 frames per second). Full screen Quicktime or HTML5 video is fine. On my previous iMac (2008, 24", NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS), full screen Flash video is smooth as silk. I realize my current video card is low- to mid-range, but should that really matter? I'm not sure if this is a video card issue, or something else. Here's a list of other things I've tried:
    Other web browsers
Uninstalled and reinstalled the current version Flash
Uninstalled and reinstalled an older version of Flash
    Installed Shockwave
    Disabled hardware acceleration
Reinstalled Mac OS X Snow Leopard
As much as Apple wants to distance itself from Flash, I would be really shocked if a modern iMac was incapable of doing what a 3-year old iMac could do effortlessly. Anyone else have any ideas, or do I just need to upgrade my video card?

in youtube one can choose various level of resolutions
like hd or sd and the hd's are in various levels of high resolutions
if performance is the issue the first place I would look would be the resolution of
    the set stream

  • Possible to view quicktime in full screen on external monitor?

    Hey All!
Im wondering if there is any way to view quicktime movies in full screen (or use front row for that matter) on an external desktop set up us as an extended desktop (as opposed to mirror). This seems like quite a dumb thing to not be able to do.

This is a problem for most software on the mac, especially games. My experience has been most software uses the primary - in this case the macbook lcd - as its display monitor. There are a few ways to fudge it to force it on another screen, but quite frankly I find that the only way to use a macbook pro and external monitor is with the lid closed.
This is generally the best solution as the menu bar is always stuck on the primary anyway.
To use the macbook closed simply wake the computer from sleep with an external keyboard or mouse the laptop and the primary will now be the external monitor.
The only real downside is how do I now use the isight????

  • Automatically open movies in Quicktime Full Screen

I know that if I open a movie file in Quicktime I can go to to:
window/show movie properties/presentation/enter full screen mode when opened
& then the movie will start on full screen when i play it. But how can i avoid this step if i want all movies to play on full screen by default ? How can i edit Quicktime to open full screen every movie?
Can i enter a command on terminal and it will do the trick? or a script? automator?
thanks for any ideas or comments ; ) i really hate to do an extra step.

Limnos, thanks for your reply ; ) On VLC you go to preferences, choose full screen as default and voila, from now on movie files will open full screen. I am sure there is a way to make full screen the default view option on Quicktime but until now I can't still find it : (
ps. I know is command+F but lets be minimalist, if you don't need this another step, lets avoid it ; ) -as i said on vlc you cant avoid it. I know Steve dislikes extra steps if unnecessary, i also do ^_-

  • Open movies in quicktime full screen by default

I've got a question regarding quicktime pro for windows: is it possible to launch movies in full screen by default?
The thing is that the movies will be shown on a video wall. The actual computer that is connected to the video wall is mounted directly behind it, a few meters above the ground, and cannot be used as a work station. Therefore, any changes to the media files playing on the video wall are made from another pc via Remote Desktop Connection: transfer a new media file to the start up folder and then reboot the  (video wall) computer. This is why it is necessary that movies open in full screen by default. Is it possible?
    Thanks!

Thank you so much! I never thought of changing the movie itself - I only tried to change the player settings...

  • PSE 7.0 Editor - Screen Size 1680 x 1050 Resizes

I have a Fuji monitor with 1680 x 1050 screen size (20"). When I open the Editor the display is always smaller, like 1280 x 1024. For work I maximize the screen. Next time I start the editor it is again at 1280 x 1024.
The Organizer remembers the large size - no problems here.
    Any ideas what is wrong?
    Thanks,
    Alexander

There is some evidence that PSE 7 gets mildly confused by higher-resolution screens. A number of people have reported that the scroll bars for the Editor's font list and ICC printer profile list don't always display at 1680 x 1050. If that's the case, then probably the only think you can do is delete the preferences and restart.

  • Quicktime automatic full screen, freezes

About a week ago I started having problems with my Quicktime Player with no obvious cause. When I try to open a video in Quicktime Player, the video automatically goes to full screen and stays stuck on the opening frame. I cannot click anywhere in this screen. The only thing I've found that works is putting my computer into standby mode and starting it up again. When I do this, Quicktime player is open to normal size upon restart but if I hit play, no video shows up (although the counter at the bottom runs).
I have run antivirus and spyware software and updated my Quicktime to 7.6.4 to no benefit. When I visited the Quicktime help website, an embedded quicktime graphic had the same effect (the page loaded, then the graphic went full screen although did animate). How can I fix my Quicktime Player?

To be sure I understand you: this means that I CANNOT have quicktime automatically launch in Full Screen mode. I have to have a keyboard, and press the Ctrl-F.
Between that and not being able to have it auto close, that pretty much eliminates Quicktime from being of any value for my purposes, which is to use it in my theatre environment from my HTPC. I don't want to have to be dragging out a keyboard.

  • Quicktime for full screen recording

Is there anyway I can do full screen recording using Quicktime. I can't seem to get it working when in full screen mode. Is there any keystrokes that I can use while in full screen mode?

What I meant was if I am playing a youtube video in full screen mode how do I capture that?
Update : OK I think I have this licked. I just click on the record button, click on the existing screen and then swipe to another space where the full screen video is playing. Cool.

  • Quicktime full screen tutorials

I am creating web tutorials and in the very beginning I need to enlarge the screen by hitting the green button.  This looks very unprofessional.  How do I start the tutorial so that the full screen is already in view? I am using Yosemite and the latest version of Quicktime.
    Thank you for your help.

Yes, you can set universal access to allow "Zoom". Set the limits (how much maximum to allow).
Then, when you watch the video, you can hold the FN and Control keys down while dragging two fingers on a macbook pad (not sure of the technique on something without a trackpad. Anyway, slide the two fingers up zooms in. The reverse zooms out.

  • Quicktime Pro Full Screen Mode

How do I control the Quicktime Video Player when it is in Full Screen mode? I can't Pause, Rewind, Fast-Forward, Play, etc.
Is there a way to do this?

  • How to get Quicktime to always open full screen?

If I click a video file I want to watch it. So I have a script to get it to play straight away, but how do I get quicktime to go full screen when a video file is loaded?

Command-f after the file has opened.
Use QuickTime Player Pro to set the movie "Presentation" properties to have the file open at full screen at launch.

  • Online QuickTime Presentation no longer full screen

I have an online presentation of images at http://www.royarden.com/pages/worldas+.html it works properly in WindowsXP with the latest QuickTime and used to work in QuickTime 7.
After the user clicks the "Play Movie" link they are, presented with a full screen, emersive movie. The code calls to launch the QuickTime application. Then the attributes saved in the file, open the movie file to full screen, at original size.

go to [http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config about:config] and find [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser.fullscreen.autohide browser.fullscreen.autohide] , then double-click on it to make it '''TRUE'''(probably ou have it fsalse) or right -click on it select Toggle to make it TRUE.
    Exit firefox and restart it.

  • Quicktime/iTunes Full Screen Color Profile Issues?

I'm running Yosemite now, but this has been an issue long before I upgraded from Mavericks as well.  The default color calibration in OSX is overly bright and blown out on my monitor, so I have a custom calibration set up and in use on my Mac Mini. The profile I created looks great for general viewing, movies or anything else I want to do.
However...there seems to be an issue with Quicktime in either the app itself or when playing a movie from my iTunes library. If I play a movie in a window there are no issues, but the problem comes when I play a video in full screen mode. The color calibration looks just fine UNTIL the play controls automatically disappear from the screen. That's when it seems to go back to the default color profile that's blown out and muddy looking. Move the mouse so the controls come back up, color profile goes right back to the one I have set....until they go off the screen again, when the default profile is back.
Anyone else experiencing this and maybe found a workaround or way to fix it?  I've found a couple mentions of it on the web in forums, but no answers or even replies were ever given.

Me too and it's very annoying. Exactly the same symptoms of the colour changing when the fullscreen controls disappear.
I've used a colormunki to create a custom profile for my monitor for photoshop use. Has everyone else done something similar?
I created the profile before Mavericks & Yosemite updates so I might try deleting it and creating a new one to see if that helps.
