Full screen resolution in win7

I have a brand new MacBook Pro 15", and a 4 year old 30" Cinema display.
In Mac OSX, the Cinema display shows full 2560x1600 resolution. However, when using windows 7 (64) via Bootcamp, the Cinema display only shows 1280x800 at full screen. When I set the resolution to 2560x1600, the visible screen shrinks to the middle of the Cinema screen, with a broad black border all around.
I have updated my software with the Mac updater, and have installed the drivers in Bootcamp while the Cinema display is attached to the MacBook.
How do I get the Cinema display to show full 2560x1600 on it's entire screen in Win7?
Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for comments.
I tried to run some old Win95/98 games. Some of them can be set to run in Windows mode (like Sanitarium), but some can't (like Neverhood).
I'm just wondering in PC world normally we can set stretch mode in BIOS. for example:
Stretch to full screen
Stretch but keep aspect ratio
No stretch (in native resolution)
But I guess there is no such BIOS thing for iMac. I had done some search, and found some people have the same question as mine. Some said can be done by changing setting of display adapter driver (for Nvidia one). My iMac has ATI, and I had installed ATI control panel, but can't find any setting about it.

  • Civ3 not on full screen resolution

    Hello here,
not too sure if this is the right place to ask, but I dont seem to find a solution o my problem.
When trying to play Civ3 1.21g on my MB Pro with 1440x900, the game does not use all of the available screen resolution - how can I change this to play on full screen?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

That is strange. I'd first try resetting the PRAM (Hold option-command-P-R keys down during startup until you hear the chime at least three times). A PRAM reset often fixes little startup bugs.
Although irrelevant to the issue, also repair permissions (never a bad idea) with disk utility. Onyx is also great for this and other maintenance tasks.

  • DVD full screen resolution quality

Please advise if I am in the wrong forum. When I play pre-recorded DVD's at full screen, the quality is not what I anticipated. I would have thought tht the video card that comes with the iMac could produce high resolution movies.
    I have a new iMac 20" G5

DVDs are designed to be viewed on TV sets, which for NTSC are around 640x480 pixels. Your computer monitor has a lot more pixels - blowing a 640x480 pixel image up to full screen on a computer monitor can be a 'quality' problem.

  • Full Screen Resolution gone with 10.5.2 update

    Hi there,
    I´m using a MBP (latest) with a NEC Spectraview 2690. Plugged in using 10.5.1 - running 1920 x 1200 / 60 Hz via DVI. Fine.
After update to 10.5.2 the highest resolution 1440 x 900 and "Standard LCD".
    What´s wrong?

Same Problem here. MBP with 10.5.2, after graphics card update, External Acer 22'' sometimes will not go to it's highest resolution. After a restart, sometimes it will, sometimes not. Very strange!

  • Screen resolution in windows not as high as in 10.8

I recently got my hard drive replaced in my Mid 2010 27" iMac. I've partitioned the drive to reinstall Win 7 but now the screen resolution in Win7 is not as high as it was on the old hard drive. In 10.8, it runs at full resolution 2560x1440 but in Windows it runs at 1920x1440 max.
Anyone know how I can get Windows to show the full screen res because 1920x1440 looks like wallpaper that has been 'stretched to fit' and it's annoying to look at.
    thanks

  • Issue with Aperture full screen mode on HD 5870

I have a very strange problem with Aperture, which may be linked to the HD 5870 and it's probably faulty drivers and would be very grateful if somebody with the same hardware could try this out if he/she can replicate this behavior:
I have a brand new 6-core with the 5870 optional card using a dual display setup (ACD 23" and NEC PA241W).
Whenever I enter full screen mode and activate the brushes, the image on the full screen monitor is reduced in size to about 70% of the full screen resolution. This also gets triggered, when I use the HUD display ("H" key) and lock the floating window on the browser display.
It's a bit hard to describe, but anybody with the same or similar setup, please try this:
    - enter full screen mode in Aperture by hitting "F"
    - press "H" and lock the window using the small slider in the upper right corner
    - activate any of the quick brushes, like dodge or burn
Is your image, which is displayed full screen on the main monitor, getting smaller in size or is it starting to flicker a bit, getting darker? If yes, we have a universal bug here.
I could narrow the problem down in a sense, that it does not matter if either screen is hooked up using the DVI or the Mini-Display-Port. It also happens when I switch the main screen over to the other, so it's (fortunately) not a problem of my new NEC display, the ACD shows the same behavior.
My best guess right now is some kind of bug in Aperture combined with a faulty driver of the HD 5870.
Any help here is greatly appreciated.

People have said that Aperture library benefits from, and should not be, on the boot drive, and placing on SSD or alternate drive, maybe RAID 0 in some cases.
64-bit kernel mode helps overcome some of the limitations and obstacles when working with large data sets, which is why I always kept data off the system and placed on RAID 0 which does improve system responsiveness.
If you have already done that and taken steps to optimize your storage layout hard to imagine it is a graphic driver.
And I would limit removing caches to just Aperture's own, though can't hurt to clean out the system's, that is something that SuperDuper will do if you use it, as it doesn't copy those and just skips caches and temp files best rebuilt (but does not touch user caches).
And a touch of Disk Warrior just for good preventative maintenance measure of course.

  • ATI 5700 HD & 32" TV --- Screen resolution Issue

    Hey all,
I recently set up a media center using arch as my distro.  Everything works great!  The only problem I have is that my screen resolution isn't perfect.
I have an ATI 5700 HD, I'm using the open source drivers.  I have a Philips 32" 1080p TV --- optimal resolution is 1920x1080.
I'm using gnome, and under System > Administration > Monitors the correct resolution is shown.  However, I can clearly see a half-inch thick border around my screen!  I know this isn't correct, because my old acer aspire revo (using the nvidia blobs) can show the entire screen at the same resolution!
I have no intention of using the catalyst drivers but I fear that I may have to in order to get this working!  Any ideas?
Attached is my xorg.conf config (I know it's unnecessary, but I generated it anyways).
My question: can I have full screen resolution WITHOUT using the closed-source tools & drivers?
    Thanks
    xorg.conf :  http://pastebin.com/B4iEqTrM

I dropped the above into a shell script and added it to gnome startup, which worked but looked ugly.  I then tried creating a .desktop file in ~/.config/autostarts/ but that looked ugly too...
so I added it to ~/.xinitrc as
exec xrandr --output HDMI-0 --set underscan off &
And that didn't work at all.
Anyone have any better way of implementing this on a more permanent (and dare i say elegant) level? I mucked with xorg.conf but that didn't work.

  • Need help to play a DV file in full screen mode w/o losing resolution

I just finished a 20 minute film using iMovie, and in order to share it, I created a Quicktime DV File using the Full Quality mode. However, when I play the obtained Quicktime file in full screen, the images become blurry and the titles are unreadable, so I am forced to sticking to the standard size (which is relatively small).
I need to project this video THIS SAME WEEK on a screen in front of a large crowd and the largest screen size for Quicktime to avoid pixelation is very small (1/6 of my screen).
Is there any way in which I can get a larger resolution DV file than the one iMovie creates? How can I share this with the audience w/o having to project it from the original iMovie file?
HELP PLEASE...!!!!! I am desperate, so any urgent advice will be greatly appreciated. And please note I am a novice at iMovie (first time I used it). Any help to increase the resolution quality of my DV file will be EXTREMELY HELPFUL.
    Thanks a lot in advance.

For faster editing iMovie 08 & 09 uses single-field processing. This means every other horizontal line of the video is thrown out, which reduces the sharpness of the footage. iMovie 06 uses all of the image, I think you will find it looks better.
iMovie 06 and iDVD 09 is a terrific combination.

  • Remote Desktop Connection Not Going To Full Screen on EIZO MX340 Monitor 1536x2048 Resolution

I am using a EIZO Rx-340 as a secondary monitor. So far I am only able to get into full screen by using Ctrl-Alt-Fn-Pause but it does not change the resolution. It does not help to move the slider to large. There is a black space at the top and bottom
    of the display.

    Hi,
Please take a try with the steps below:
    1. Start "Remote Desktop Connection".
    2. Click on "Options".
    3. Click on the "Display" tab.
    4. On "Display configuration" settings, you can change the "Remote Desktop Connection" display by moving the slider from "Small to Large".
    5. By moving the "Slider" all the way to large, the display settings will automatically set to "Full Screen".
    Here is the screenshot:
Also please take a check if the monitor itself is configured well.
    Hope this may help

  • IPhoto 11 low resolution photo in full screen mode

In the 09 version a low resolution picture is shown full on the screen, but can be a little bit blurry.
In the 11 version the low resolution picture is shown small. How can we change that?

I mean that a low resolution picture is shown as a small picture and can not be viewed as a large picture. In the old version a low or high resolution was shown the same. If it was a low resolution picture it would be a bit more blur. Now the picture is small and a higher resolution picture is shown full screen.
    Is this better?

  • Macbook air mini dp output resolution / full screen app issues

I've successfully connected my new macbook air 13" to my LED tv with a mini DP to hdmi adapter + hdmi wire. I am able to get video and audio (obviously.)
My issue is that no matter when resolution I try (1080p, 1080i, 720p, etc) and wether I am "mirroring" the display or "extending" the display,
My samsung 46" LED tv can not get full screen there is always black bars on the left and right.
When I connect my PC via VGA wire  there are no bars and it is in full land scape view.
Also I've noticed in lion that full screen apps show up as the "linen wallpaper" on the second display.
the only way i can slightly alleviate the problem is full screening a video within youtube but not within the OS it self... even then there is still black bars which is weird because when i use the TV as a extended monitor the wallpaper is using the whole display just full screen video has black bars.
I am unable to get 1920 x 1200 output display to my HDTV is this possible? is it my mini DP to hdmi adapter that is at fault?
thanks in advanced to whoever helps sorry about the long post my brain is scattered on the issue because my VGA connetion works fine i don't understand why HDMI + mini DP has worse resolution...

No, it doesn't list the resolution explicitly like that - the top few items in the list are "480i", "480p", "720p", "1080i" and "1080p", each with a small TV icon to the right. Non-television resolutions follow, and are listed with explicit pixel dimensions (and no TV icon), but the list stops at 1440x900, the native resolution of the MacBook's built-in display; it doesn't list resolutions higher than that.
Needless to say, I've tried every setting in the entire list, and they all suffer from the same problem of displaying shrunk down on the plasma TV with a margin around the desktop.
I wonder if the difference between your Display control panel and mine is that I'm running Snow Leopard? (Sorry - no screen grabs to show, I'm at work right now)
