Fullscreen Video Playback, from Button? Video Question

I have used the external URL to link directly to a video and it opened in an HTML window, not just fullscreen.
I would like to emulate what is seen in this example.
LINK:
http://youtu.be/-YMyQZki0bY?hd=1&t=1m2s

So after some experimenting, I was able to get what you suggested to work. Interesting method.
Is there a way to edit the media container to load from external URL while the interaction looks the same to the user?
I tried to:
1) Place media on stage (MP4)
2) With the MP4 placed and selected, use the MEDIA panel to change the poster to NONE.
3) Still in the MEDIA panel with MP4 selected, click "Place a Video from a URL" and type in URL of external MP4.
I figured this would just swap the source, but no. It didn't work correctly.
So, now I have two choices to show video that I can make work.
EXTERNAL VIDEO:
Open URL from button, straight to MP4. Opens in HTML window, so the look isn't the cleanest.
INTERNAL VIDEO:
Place video on page.
Select video and then MEDIA panel.
Choose NONE for poster image.
You can put an image behind this "container" or place it atop something that looks like a button and clicking it will trigger the video.
Correct?

  • Inadequate video playback from camera video

I have a Panasonic Lumix DMC FX07 camera. I took some awesome soccer video and was puzzled that I needed Quicktime to view it on my computer. I was sad to see that the video playback was horrible - all audio and jerky video. The video plays fine on my camera. So my first question is: (1) what's wrong with video playback? My second question is (2) do I seriously have to pay $30 to upgrade to Quicktime Pro just to save MY own video to my computer? I am obviously reluctant to do this if the free version of the software does not even work correctly. My computer is basic but I've upgraded the memory and other videos (streaming, my canon camera etc) work fine so please leave off the poor computer specs reasoning. Some honest feedback would be welcome as I am hopefully just not doing something exactly right. Thanks in advance!

I found a sample video from this camera on the web and it's working for me in the newest QT 7.6. I tried also mplayer and VLC player - both are able to play the video, so try them. You can also use them to convert video to another format (mplayer is just player, but it's shipped with mencoder that can do it).
If none of the players is working for you, try to post somewhere small sample video from your cam - I'll take a look on it.

  • Video playback from PB17 to Sony TV firewire port ?

I'm wondering if it's possible to get video playback from my PowerBook 17 to a Sony HDTV firewire port ? I can't see in prefs where you can do this. Is there some software that enables this? I tried to select firewire playback from Final Cut Pro even and that didn't work either. The TV recognises the Powerbook. I don't think it's possible but why not try?
    Powerbook G4 1.33GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   2 GB RAM + I want Seagate Momentus 5400.3 160GB HD

This is what abrody has to say on the subject.
Yes, but only at 720 x 480 resolution. Some TVs offer higher resolutions and DVI ports where you can do a DVI to DVI connection. And actually there was a dongle which came with your Powerbook which supports S-Video via its S-Video port.

I use imovie to create videos. When I burn the video to DVD and play it back there is digital breakup in the playback from the DVD. The digital breakup does not show in playback on the computer. I understand there is a file I need to delete and reboot the computer and imovie will rebuild the file in the program. Help!

My method is to use the DAW in standard recording mode, and set up the camcorder entirely separately.  After recording, I automate the audio mix with fader moves and effects, then export ("bounce to disk") a full-fidelity AIFF, 16-bit 48 kHz stereo file (most videos use 48, not 44.1).  I use iMovie '11 to import the video from the camera, then import the stereo audio file and match it up to the camera audio by dragging it into the iMovie Project.  Make the waveforms visible, it's not too hard to align.
Then, use iMovie's "Export as Quicktime" feature.  Here, by going through the menus and options, you can control the audio compression (for example, 256k instead of 128, although 128 seems to be enough for YouTube).
AppleMan1958 posted a YouTube video about controlling iMovie's export options that may help:

  • I am having problems with video playback from the Internet such as you tube on my iPad. What's up?

I am having trouble with video playback from the Internet such as you tube. What's up?

Your video playback will also depend on your net speed. If you have slow internet, you will stream video slow. If your video stops and starts, you can try pausing it for a minute or so and then try to watch. Let more of it buffer before you try to watch.
Sometimes your connection is so slow you literally play faster than it buffers, which means it stops and stutters continually

  • Poor movie/video playback from mini Mac (2010) to 50 " lg LCD tv

Hi I just got my new mini Mac 2010 release and have it set up running through my 50 inch full 1080p LCD LG tv.
It's running through a Belkin hd cable from mini Mac to the tv and get great quality from picture desktop on 1080p setting on the Mac.
However when ever I watch a DVD,movie from iTunes through front row the quality is terrible and get "blocky" picture in dark parts of the movie.
I love my new Mac but this is driving me crazy I have tried calibration and changing the settings on my tv.
Please any help with getting better quality playback from movies on my Mac as the picture is worse than an old vcr

    Welcome to  Discussions!
Have you tried using DVD Player instead of Front Row to play the DVD?
I do hope you realize that a DVD is not HD quality. Because DVDs are lower resolution than your TV, when you play them full screen on your TV without an upscaling player they are not going to look as good as they did on your standard definition (SD) TV.

  • AIR bug with iOS fullscreen video! (easy repro)

Here's a bug with fullscreen AIR apps not dealing with iOS fullscreen video resize. Easy repro:
    1. Create an mc with a background graphic aligned with the top and bottom of the stage. (This is so you can easily see the bug.)
    2. Add a stageWebView and load an html page with embedded video. (or just load a video directly)
    3. Play video and enable fullscreen mode.
    4. Rotate device 90 degrees while in fullscreen mode and then hit "Done" button to return to stage (exit fullscreen).
    5. BUG: Stage is now "pushed down" and off-screen. (even though the mc still traces x = 0)
Conclusion: the display bug occurs when the user exits the iOS native player fullscreen mode from a different orientation then they started with (common if the original aspect ratio was portrait)
Can someone else please confirm this? (The amount of stage "push" appears to corrolate with the height of the iOS status bar.)
    Thanks.
PS. You don't necessarily need to load an html page. You can just have stageWebView load a video directly and experience the same result.
PPS. I also tried using the new UIWebView Native Extension and am seeing the same thing, so this is really looking like an AIR/Flash bug with the iOS native player.

A simpler summary for this issue:
If the device has been rotated since entering Fullscreen native player, a fullscreen app will be "pushed downwards" and off-screen slightly.
BUG: Adobe AIR app does not stay in fullscreen mode after such and event, ruining graphic UI for fullscreen apps.
Simple workaround: listen for on orientationChange and if stage.displayState == StageDisplayState.NORMAL, set to stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULLSCREEN.
However, iOS native player will lose traditional status bar appearance (and risk rejection by Apple??)
Complex workaround (as mentioned earlier) will keep the native player's status bar but result in the app's screen "flashing" upon resizing the stage.
Please help fix this bug by commenting in my bug report. Thanks again.

  • Css shadows/Fullscreen video problems

    Hello,
At some point I've started to have problems with FF displaying css shadows and fullscreen videos.
    1) Here's an example of how css shadows look like on a variety of sites when openned in FF: http://xmages.net/show.php/2871278_css-png.html . Chromium displays the same sites perfectly.
    2) There's some kind of a problem with the switching to the fullscreen mode. For example at imdb.com when I click the fullscreen mode button - the video itself starts underneath the browser window and can be switched to with ALT+TAB. Again - Chromium works fine there.

    Try to disable hardware acceleration.

  • Putting something on top of CS3 fullscreen video

I am still looking for the code or procedure to put custom
buttons or banners on top of fullscreen video in Flash CS3... I
have seen this demonstrated on several examples online, but can
    find no code anywhere...any ideas?
Simply putting the object on a higher layer does not work, so
I figure code must somehow enable it...

You nailed it. Make sure your FLVPlayback Component has an
    instance
name (select it on the Stage and look at the Property
    inspector). Next, use
that instance name to reference the
    FLVPlayback.fullScreenTakeOver property
    and set it to false.

  • Automatic graphics switching & Flash 10.1 breaks fullscreen video?

    Hi,
I'm on a new i5 MBP and I'm running the latest version of Flash. When I have Automatic graphics switching on and hardware acceleration on in Flash, fullscreen video looks jerky. If I turn AGS off OR turn hardware acceleration off, fullscreen video looks smooth.
    What's going on here?

In a nutshell, the discreet Nvidia chip supports hardware acceleration in flash, the integrated chip does not.
For reasons i'm not quite sure of, either Flash, and Automatic Graphics Switching do not really work well together. My guess is that Flash reads the information from the Nvidia Chip (ie that it supports hardware acceleration) and allows the feature to be enabled, but then the apple software does not switch to the Hardware Accelerated chip, because, i guess, it believes that the Intel chip should be sufficient for the job.
In my experience, forcing the MBP to use the Nvidia chip, and leaving hardware acceleration on provides slightly better battery life when playing supported videos, but, of course unless you remember to re-enable Automatic Graphic Switching again when you're done, it'll kill your battery life later, so I find it safer, unless I am watching a, say, 3 hour long flash video to disable H.A. In flash, and hope that, between them, Apple and Adobe can work this one out... though given their public disagreements over Flash, this could be wishful thinking.
With HA disabled, you are in no worse a position than you were a few months ago before "Gala" came around, so it's not so bad.

  • Gnome Shell unredirect fullscreen video

    Hi,
Does anybody know if there is a switch to turn on unredirect fullscreen video playback in gnome shell like in kde or compiz?
Any time I play video in gnome shell it's really choppy. In kde or compiz it helped to turn on that unredirect option on.
I have nvidia card with nvidia driver and tested vlc(some videos more choppy than others) and totem(unwatchable).

I don't think it works with smplayer or VLC.
I get choppy video playback in Gnome. In Xfce with no compositing video playback is smooth. This is with Intel integrated graphics.

  • Mac OS X 10.6 fullscreen video menu bar

this is wired, the same thing happened in the 10.1 flash player beta and took quite some time for adobe to figure that out.
When i go in fullscreen video (yutube, vimeo) with Flash Player 11 Beta the Menu Bar just doesn´t disappear. it stays on top of the video rather than go away as it should.
seems to be a very hard thing to do on mac os letting the menu bar disappear.

This was fixed by Apple in Mac OSX 10.7 due to a 64-bit bug. I am not sure if they will be back porting this fix.

  • No playback from the timeline.

What is up with Premiere Pro CC 2014 today? It was working just fine after the update and now I get no playback from the timeline. And I can't preview my edits on clips. Is this a recent issue? It seems I'm not the only one with it.

  • Better external playback from Viewer than Timeline

I notice that I get higher quality playback from the same clip played back to an external HD monitor from the Viewer than when it is placed on the Timeline. Playback is using AJA Lhi video card set properly. Media is optimized ProRes 422, Better Quality set, Both Fields checked. Video is softer from the timeline, and has jaggies on thin diagonal lines. Anyone else notice anything like this or have a possible solution?

  • Late and variable playback from chapter markers

With my guidance, my video editor inserted chapter markers in a DVD she is creating for me. When I play the DVD on my DVD player and start the playback from a chapter, it seems that the playback is always later than where we placed the markers. On a second DVD player the playback starting from chapter markers is even later, and when I play the DVD on my computer with Apple's DVD Player the playback from chapters starts at yet another place later than where we placed the markers. This confirms what I've heard that standard for DVD players with regard to start-up is not so stringent as it is with CDs. So how do I know where to place chapter markers? How late might the playback start? Are there any DVD players for which it would start early?
    null

You will always get variation in performance in regards to markers on different dvd players. Unfortunately it's the nature of the beast. You need to test your disks on a variety of players and adjust markers till you're happy with them. Don't think you will ever see an "early" start, but anything's possible. There are a lot of very cheap dvd players out there and the implementation of the dvd standards is inconsistent at best.
When I have room on a dvd, I will sometimes have two versions of my show, one meant to play from beginning to end and another which consists of individual tracks for each chapter for access from a menu. This is the only way I can really control this behavior.
