Fully syncing iPhone/MacBook Air

Hi
Firstly I apologise in advance, I am quite new to everything. I have searched Google and these discussions but can't really find the exact problem I am having.
I have had an iPhone for quite sometime and had iTunes on an old Windows laptop. About a week ago now, I purchased a MacBook Air and am now using this instead of my old laptop.
But I am having trouble syncing everything, I'm clearly doing something wrong but I can't work out what it is. I have plugged my iPhone into the MacBook and I understand that pressing sync simply won't work, as it will try and put everything from this iTunes onto my iphone, thereby removing my iPhone stuff. I was told to click "Check for available downloads" but this just tries to download one silly app I got ages ago - nothing since then. It will just list this one download.
The way I had imagined it would work, is that I press "Check for available downloads", this would bring everything to iTunes and then I can sync but obviously this is not the case.
Does anybody have any idea?
Thanks
Kieran

HI,
Give DeTune a try. It's free and allows you to transfer music, and other contents from your iPhone to your Mac.
Hope this helps.

  • Problems with hotmail re. sync. contacts & email on Iphone & Macbook Air

    HI,
I have an Iphone 5c and a macbook air and I use a hotmail account. Problems that I encounter:
    - hotmail:  emails arrive on all devices but do not sync, for example when I delete emails on one device I also have to do this manually on another device
    - contacts: contacts on Iphone do not sync with macbook air
    (I use Imap for hotmail).
How to solve this? Now thinking about exchanging hotmail account for Icloud email account. Will this solve both problems?
    Kind regards,
    Brigitte

Hello. Do you see all accounts in "Mail, Contacts and Calendars?"
If you do, make sure you have hecked the boxes of the feartures of each account to work on your Mac. Example, I have a Google account, and when I click on it, I can select if I want to sync Mail, Calendars, Notes or Messages.
Please take note that I am referring to setting them up on the MacBook Air and not the iPhones.
    Hope this helps.

  • What to do if black berry bold 9900 contacts not fully syncing with macbook pro?

what to do if black berry bold 9900 contacts not fully syncing with macbook pro?

    thanks for the advice
I have an I phone 4S that is having almost the same problem, and only some of the newly added contact of the phone are added to the address book, so not a big difference, and its not a solution to get read of all products only because we use apple.

  • IPhone 3G lost while syncing with MacBook Air.

While syncing the iPhone and the Mac, the connection between the two devices breaks. Sometimes, I manage to sync completely the 2 machines, sometimes the syncing crashes. After many trials, I came to the conclusion that when the battery of the iPhone is not fully loaded, the Sync works. When it's full the connection breaks and error messages appear in iTunes.
In the log, I found this type of entry when the connection crashes:
    05/08/09 14:01:39 [0x0-0xc00c].com.apple.systemuiserver[95] DigiHub:sendChargingCommandToDevice RequestExtraPower(kUSBPowerDuringWake) returned 500
    05/08/09 14:01:39 [0x0-0xc00c].com.apple.systemuiserver[95] DigiHub:sendChargingCommandToDevice sending command with sleep: 0, wake 500
This issue make the update of the iPhone software impossible using my Mac. The upgrade crashed and I was give the following Apple support page http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1275. I tried all the procedures indicated and the only solution was to use a Windows Vista PC !
Any idea how I can solve this issue ?
    Thanks
+PS. I posted this issue on the MacBook Air section+

  • How do I sync my Macbook Air Calendar with my iphone 4s?

I can't get my Macbook Air to show my calender events from my iPhone 4S.  How can I sync them?

How would you like to sync them - by cable connection, over wifi, or over iCloud? You should only use one of these three methods.
To use cable connection, attach your charging cable between the iPhone and Mac, open iTunes, go to the iPhone tab, click Info, and make sure Calendar sync is enabled, and that all the calendars you need are set to sync. Click Sync.
To use wifi connection, you must first connect via cable - under Info, you can set "Sync over wifi". You can now disconnect the cable, but your iPhone must be attached to power in order to sync.
To use iCloud, set up iCloud sync of calendars on the Mac first - go to System Preferences, iCloud, and turn on Calendar sync. After a few minutes, log into http://icloud.com with your appleid and make sure the calendars are there. Once that's done, go to the iPhone, Settings, iCloud, and turn on calendar sync. Again, it will take a few minutes to sync.

  • How do I sync my MacBook Air with my iPhone?

I just purchased a new MacBook Air.  While setting it up, I created a new Apple ID.  Unfortunately, I am now experiencing difficulties when trying to sync my new MacBook Air with my iPhone, which is synchronized to my old Apple ID.  I want all of my information (music, pictures, contacts, etc.) on my new mac.  How can I sync the two devices? (my phone is synchronized with another Mac)  Any help?

Can you sign into iCloud (System Preferences -> iCloud) on your new Air with the same account you use on your iPhone?

  • IPhone 4 address book won't sync with MacBook Air

I've been Googlin' my butt off, and called support three times (in which they won't help me because they say it's an iPhone issue)... Anyway, just purchased a MacBook Air; and my iPhone contacts will not sync with the address book.
Any help would be amazing.  Thank you very much!

    Hey,
So I kept looking for another answer and found this answer in another thread:
"It is called "sync" for the reason it not called a transfer.  It wants and is designed to "sync" make each other match.  If it deleted all on the phone it is because you just had zero contacts in the address book on the computer (which on first sync is considered master copy).  If you put one dummy contact into address book on computer then try to sync it will see it needs to "merge" to get the sync process coordinated."
I tried it out and it worked.  I originally already had one contact in my address book, but it was me and apparently I don't count as a human being, so I added the dummy contact and it worked after I clicked 'Merge'. Hope it works for you too.

  • IMessage stopped syncing between MacBook Air and iPhone 5

    Hello,
Until the weekend my iMessages synced between iphone and MacBook Air, but from Monday I have been sending and receiving iMessgaes from my phone which never arrive at the MacBook.  I didn't get the iOS upgrade till yesterday so it's not that, and haven't knowingly made any other changes over the weekend.  I've checked both setups and both are syncing using my phone number plus 3 email addresses.
Can anyone tell me how to fix it please?

Associate your mobile number with your Apple ID, if you haven't already done so:
    Apple - My Apple ID
Sign out of iMessage on the Mac:
Messages ▹ Preferences ▹ Accounts ▹ Sign out
    Sign out on the iPhone
Settings ▹ Messages ▹ Send & Receive ▹ Apple ID ▹ Sign out
Then, on the phone, tap Use Your Apple ID for iMessage.
Sign back into iMessage on both devices and test.

  • IPhone calendar not syncing to MacBook air

Ever since I upgraded my iPhone to 8.1.3, my calendar entries and deletions are not updating on my MacBook Air with OS Yosemite AND on my iPad (also upgraded to iOS 8.1.3).  Nothing has changed in any of my iCloud settings on none of the devices. So obviously the changes that I make with my iPhone are not making it to my MacBook or iPad. HELP!

    Hey Lynda Jo,
That is not very productive when the calendars are not syncing. I am not sure what troubleshooting you have done on your end but let’s start with the first article below to get it sorted out. It will have you check the settings even though you have not changed anything, it may be a good idea to double check. If all looks good after that troubleshooting, then the second article will be your follow up to get it working again.

  • Wife's new iPhone 5 will not sync with MacBook air.

My new iPhone 5 syncs perfectly well via my iTunes account with my MacBook Air.  Over time I think my wiofe and I may have shared access to my iTunes account but she definitely has her own as well and there are times I have needed to enter her password when purchasing something and vice versa.
So I tried to back up her old iphone to our (new) MacBook Air.  It wouldn't.  It seems to want to back up to our old PC.  I wanted to set her iPhone 5 up from an IiTunes backup but can't.
What should I do?  Set her phone up from new?
    Help!

The MacBook has my iTunes account and plenty of music, photos, apps etc on it.  I tried logging out of my itunes account and into hers but her phone would still not sync with the macbook.  How can I get her phone to recognise the macbook and vice versa?

Make sure you have the Latest Version of iTunes Installed on your computer ( v 11.1)
    iTunes free download from www.itunes.com/download
On your Computer... Click on the Apple icon.. Top left in Finder...
 > About this Mac > Version...what does it say?

  • Syncing to Macbook Air

    Hi,
I have an iPhone and and iPad on the same Apple ID and they are fully synced with my iTunes purchases (tv, movies, etc).  They were also linked to my old PC but only some of my purchases appear in my PC library.
I have recently purchased a Macbook Air.  When I plug my iPad or iPhone into my Macbook only some of my purchases sync to my Macbook library.  Now I have a situation where all of my purchases appear on my iPhone & iPad, some appear on my PC and others appear on my Macbook.  I would like to sync everything to my Macbook, iPad and iPhone and abandon my PC.  My Macbook says that if I opt to sync my iPad and iPhone with my new Macbook it will wipe those two devices and I will lose all of the purchases.  How do I get everything on those three devices???

    Nan...
    Open System Preferences > iCloud
Deselect Contacts then reselect the box then restart your MBAir.

  • How to best configure iMac + iPhones + Macbook Air?

Somewhat new to the mac world, particularly the networking/sharing aspects of iTunes.
My wife and I have an iMac with separate accounts but that share the same iTunes library. We both have iPhones and those phones are sync'd to the iMac - all is working fine.
But now we have a Macbook Air that we take on the road with us (also separate accounts). When home, that Macbook Air is networked in to our home network with full access to our iMac, etc. While on the road we would like to use the Macbook Air and iTunes to manage our library, purchase new tunes, videos etc while on the road. When we open iTunes on the laptop it asks for a library or to create a new one and we've been hesitant to choose since we don't want to have two separate libraries that could get out of sync, etc.
So how can we maintain a single library across these devices that doesn't get out of whack while we're on the road ? How should I be setting up iTunes on the Macbook Air to do this ?
    thanks

Depends what data you want to sync, and to what extent.
iSync is for syncing Contacts & Calendars to mobile phones and PDAs - it has nothing to do with Mac-to-Mac syncing.
.Mac Sync will sync bookmarks, contacts, and calendars between Macs.
Chronosync will sync files and folders between Macs.

Chris - that was the tip I have been waiting for. After I saw this, I was able to see that sometime in the past, when we imported all of my wife's calendar items from Outlook, all of her repeating items (birthday's etc.) came over as single events going out about 200 years instead of repeating events. Once I turned off calendar sync on all devices, cleared out the calendar that contained these repeating items, deleted all calendars from icloud.com, and turned calendar sync back on, all problems went away.
Here are the steps I followed. First, I created an archive of my iCal using the File->Export command.  I turned off the calendar sync on all devices, including my computer. I did a search on "" and viewed the resultant list. In my case, I saw thousand of entries from 1914 out about 200 years. I found one of the repeating items and double clicked to see what calendar it lived in. Once I determined that nothing too important was in that calendar, I deleted the whole thing (your mileage may vary). I then went to iCloud.com and deleted all calendars that were on the site. Once this was done, I waited a bit for the delete to take hold. I then turn iCloud address book sync back on on the Mac. Once I was sure the sync worked properly by checking on iCloud.com, I turned on iCloud calendar sync on all other devices. Everything sync'd perfectly after that.
    Good luck!
