Function keys in Forms 9i
are not working with me..any possible reasons?

it was my mistake I thought F9 is a built-in function key for LOV like it was in 6i
but I have another question please in this area
suppose I want to add F9 function key to call LOVs
I understod that i shoud add this line to fmrweb.res
120 : 0 : "F9" : ??? : "List of values"
what should I put instead of the question marks?
what is Forms function number? how can i find it? and how can i modify it?

Dear users....One of the big difficulties users facing in my 10g forms applications is that its Function Keys have totally changed like that of Enter-Query or Execute-Query. In forms 6i user was habitual of working with F-7 & F-8 for this purpose but in 10g its quite different. Can u tell me that how can I match the functionality of these Function Keys in 10g to that of Forms-6i???

Hey Arun...I've read urs recommended post, I wish to give u 10 pts if u give me the answer for this question too ;) Can I use my newly created fmrweb.res in my own application? I mean other users should keep on using the default fmrweb.res file but I should use the file compatible with 6i shortcut keys. Is there any configuration for this in formsweb.conf file?

I didn't give attention or did any R&D on it because I thought for us main challange is to make ERP work on web first.

You can change the key mappings by changing the file fmrweb.res in the *<dev_suite_home>\forms* directory. If you want to change all the key settings as in 6i, then make a copy of the fmrweb.res file for a saftey and rename the file fmrpcweb.res as fmrweb.res.

Redirecting function keys in forms 6i

Hi guys, The default value to show a LOV in 6i is 'F9'. If anyone need to redirect it to 'F1' only write a trigger in form level. Open a trigger 'KEY_HELP' and add 'list_values'. Then it will work.Bye.

that is a method, which redirects the hotkey, but this is not the prefered way to do it !
After that you have two hotkeys for listvalues. F1 and F9.
And the default F1 (help) is lost in that case...

Diabling function key f1..f10 in forms run time

How to Diable the function keys F1 to F10 in the forms run time,
Bcoz as we are aware that f7 enter query, f8 execute query,
f10 accept, So i dont want the users to go thru this functions,
The main reason is to avoid this is, For List of values we are
pressing f9 but some users are pressing f10 blindly, so that its getting
problem, tell me how to disable the f10 function key in form run time.

Hi, I tried the key_others procedure and added a message too. But it works fine on hitting f10, does not let user commit the form. But it does not go thru the save button as I have a trigger and conditions to check before commiting. Please reply if you can think of a solution. thanks

Keyboard Function-Key mapping in Forms 10gAS

Can anyone help with a quick outline of the way keyboard function keys are implemented on the Application Server in Forms 10g?
My situation is that I have two unix servers, one for Development, one for Production. When running my Forms from a browser window, one of the servers responds to the F8 key for Execute-Query, the other server does not.
I presume the mapping is done on the server, with some sort of configuration file. Perhaps something's been overridden by mistake somewhere. I have checked forms.conf, forms.properties, formsweb.cfg and frmweb.res, and cannot see anything that might relate to these Keyboard Function-Key settings. I've also tried finding a Developers Reference Manual online, but have had no luck.
It's bound to be something really simple, but I can't seem to crack it. Do you know what I'm missing?

There are two basic versions of key mapping fmrweb.res files. Forms is released with a fmrweb.res file that has Ctrl+S for commit.
But there is also a fmrpcweb.res file that can be used in place of the other -- you just rename it as fmrweb.res in the other's place.
Both files are simple text files you can edit with Notepad or other simple text editors.

How can I assign a function key on my IMAC's wired keyboard to enter my email address in documents or on internet forms?

I'm trying to set up my wired IMAC keyboard to create shortcuts to enter my email adresses into emails or into web forms. I was able to do this when I was working with PCs but can't find direction on the process for the MAC. There seems to be 7 unused Function Keys at the top of the keyboard that are srrving no apparent purpose so logic tells me they must be available for sutomization.
Please help. My fingers are tired...

I don't think you can with the standard Mac OS X tools / sys prefs..
You have to step into the realm of 3rd party key mapper tools.
I'm reluctant to go there..
I'm happy being able to remap option to be my command key
using the standard System Preferences ->Keyboard..

Forms 10g Function Key Buttons

Hello,
I want to create graphical Function key Buttons (F1-F8)(Mouse clickable) to the bottom of all my forms (~650!), like in a terminal. Buttons are the same for all forms.
Anybody know how to do this? I already managed to assign the proper functions to the Function keys by the frmweb.res file (function Key mapping).
I was thinking of using a (invisible) framed webpage (html), the top frame displaying the forms aplet, the bottom part displaying the buttons. How to send keykodes from these buttons?

Find the file fmrweb.res in the DevSuiteHome_1\forms folder.
Rename it to something like fmrweb_orig.res
Copy the file fmrpcweb.res as fmrweb.res. The fmrpcweb file has settings to match the Windows 6i keys.
By the way, you can edit the fmrweb file with a simple text editor to see how to change it.

i have installed oracle 9i app server rel2 on oracle8i database, using which i have deployed my application (which was developed on developer2000) with the help of forms services - provided by oracle 9ias. now, my application is running on browser. but, when i run my appliation on browser the function keys mapping like
F7-enter query, F8-execute query was supercided by browser functional key mapping, which means i can use only the menu, i cannot use the functional keys to retrive and save data.
is there any method or setup thro which i can bring the d2k funtional key mapping on browser.

Sources familiar with the company say chief executive officer John Chen will announce Tuesday at a mobile industry conference in Barcelona that the Waterloo, Ont.-based company will restore its trademark “belt” of five function keys that sat between the screen and keyboard.
This includes a trackpad and other keys that allowed users to easily navigate between different applications. The belt will appear later this year on phones powered by the BlackBerry 10 operating system.
A company spokesman declined to confirm the announcement. Forms 2 java migration/rewrite and Function KEY in J dev 11g.

We are trying to rewrite a Forms application with J Dev11g application ADF/Faces webcomponents.
Our users getting use to use function key (F1, F2, F3) on keyboard and they expect this features from our new web application.
is there any way to map ADF actions(create record, delete record) with function key as Oracle Froms.

yes and no. Yes, in JDeveloper 11 you can use JavaScript to intercept keyboard eventsand queue them for server side execution. No for keys like F1 which are reserved by the browser. This wont be the case if you build and application as an Applet, but who wants to to this ;-)

Function keys in german Forms

Hi,
if we change the language to german in the registry, we got the correct number and date format but the function keys have a different mapping. Only with the english setting we got the normal function key mapping (but wrong date/number formats).
Any idea?

"Undefined Function Key. Press Ctrl+F1..." Porting app from 6i to 10G

I am running into a problem porting my application from Oracle Forms 6i to 10G. When I am querying a record based on a field that is not the first on the screen, I get an "Undefined Function Key. Press Ctrl+F1 for list of valid keys." error. I do not get the error using the same function keys from the first field on the screen. I also do not get the error if I click into another field (besides the one I an querying) before hitting my execute query key.
I did some research, and found a fix that seems to work. I can add a WHEN_MOUSE_CLICKED trigger to the form and put in the following:
Go_Item(:System.Mouse_Item);
That seems to fix the issue. My problem is that I have close to 400 forms to upgrade. I would like to avoid adding this manually to every single form. I have looked into libraries, but I can't seem to figure out how to replicate a WHEN_MOUSE_CLICKED trigger using procedures. I was wondering if there was a way to use the Forms upgrade utility to add this trigger to every form it converts. Does anyone know if that can be done?

I'm not sure this solves the problem. This would call the trigger, but the trigger does not currently exist. I would still have to manually create the trigger in all 400 (or so) forms. Is there a way to add it in a more global way?
