Function Keys of Satellite P775-11P do not work

I recently Reinstalled Windows on my Laptop because of a Virus. As i was done with instaling drivers i saw that the Fn-Key and the Softkeys did not work any longer. So i was looking for the reason and discoverd that some drivers would not install properly. Is it because i now have 32bit instead of 64bit?
Is there a version for 32Bit? And which driver is the one for the Fn-Key and Softkeys?
Ch S

>Is there a version for 32Bit?
Sorry mate but have you checked which operating systems are supported before youve started OS installation?
Ive checked Toshiba download page on http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp and Win7 64bit version is supported only.
Do you have recovery discs? Install original OS that you got with your notebook?

  • 'SHIFT' key on Satellite Pro C660 is not working

    G'day,
I have a minor problem with my Toshiba Satellite Pro C660 notebook computer.
Unfortunately I had to remove the keyboard and in doing so dislodged the
flimsy plug connecting it to the computer.
The 'Shift' key has refused to work since. All the other keys work as usual.
The only problem is the 'Shift' key not working.
I have tried gently moving the plug but made no difference so now have to
    use a USB keyboard.
Can you please help with suggestions to solve this problem?
    Thank you for your time.
    Cheers,
    Sunrap.

I have fixed my problem with the often used right shift key from my laptop computer by gently lift of the cap with a small screw driver and put a very small paper ball inside the hollow plastic tube.

  • I had to get a new keyboard and now the keys in the upper row are not working appropriately. How can I fix this problem?

My keyboard stopped working so I went to the apple store to replace it with another one. Now I am back home and the keys at the very top are not working correctly (volumn  F12 shows the dashboard, F11 takes the screen up and away, F8 pause button shows spaces, etc.). What should I do to correct this problem - I assume I probably need to download some type of softwear but what? I have a Mac OS X  Version 10.5.8 desktop - 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor.

All new keyboards need Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and above for full functionality.
Rather short-sighted of Apple perhaps, but that seems to be a trend these days.
I'm afraid the only fix is to upgrade to SL. Personaly, I'd take it back and get a refund and seek an older keyboard or a third-party one elsewhere.

  • Some keyboard keys of Satellite A660-11M don't work

    hi,
the keyboard of my Satellite A660-11M is not working properly. Some keys won't type, others would type the wrong letter/number.
Does replacing the keyboard usually fix the problem? Are keyboards available for this model?
By the way, juice was accidentally spilled on it weeks ago, so i assume it's the cause of the problem.
    thanks in advance.

    Hi
Yes, possibly the issue is related to the spilled juice.
I think only the keyboard replacement could help you
The new keyboard can be ordered from a Toshiba ASP in your country.
Here you can find all ASP worldwide:

  • Satellite L300-215 - Webcam not working

The webcam on my Satellite L300-215 has not worked since I downloaded the new Toshiba software months ago.
The Chicony webcam is not even recognised and it will not install the Toshiba software.
Two hours with Toshiba technical staff, including them having remote access to my computer, did not solve the problem.
It seems this is a very common problem and I have tried some of the suggestions on postings but with no result.
Does anybody out there have the answer?

I have two Toshiba notebooks, Satellite P200D and Satellite A300, both with webcam and everything works well. So I don't agree with statement about very common problem.
Does webcam works well if your notebook is preinstalled with Toshiba recovery image (factory settings)?
    >I have tried some of the suggestions on postings but with no result.
What you have tried to solve this?

I need to re-download Lion and install it, after re-formatting my hard-drive to "journaled" as requested. Holding the Option key while clicking on "purchases" does not work.

Thanks Smokemonster. I found that the Lion install app was in in my applications folder already. Worked fine.

  • Assigned F key to play an action does not work. Why? Using cs6  iMac and wireless key board

Assigned F key to play an action does not work to play the action on an image. When the F key is selected it seams to control computer attributes rather than the play action assigned in photoshop. Why? Using cs6  iMac and wireless key board.
Is this a possible preference setting in mac or is it a setting in cs6 photoshop ? Help and knowledge will be appreciated.

IPad 4 switches off when i am using it, even when battery is fully charged.  Restore function (holding down both buttons) often does not work.  Cannot power up iPad.  I have updated software, restarted computer, but no success.  I did restore the iPad about 8 times during the past 2 weeks.  Just completed another restore.  iTunes says the the iPad has been restored and will restart automatically and appear in iTunes when it is ready.  That was 30 minutes ago.  iPad still won't start.  I am looking down the barrel of yet another fruitless restore.  What a crap product.

    Try a reset:
Hold the Sleep and Home button down until you see the Apple logo.

  • Power Management and Function Keys on Satellite A210-1BD running Windows XP

    Hi,
I have deleted Vista and installed the german Windows XP Professional from MSDN AA on my Toshiba Satellite A210-1BD.
It looks fine, all drivers are installed but I can not access the "TOSHIBA Power Saver": An error message appears that says that I do not have the rights to use it.
I am logged in as a user with all Administrator rights, so I do not understand why I can not access it.
Can anyone say where I can change the Rights for this?
Besides that the FN-Key-Functions are not working. I have tried to install the hotkey utility but I get the error message that "This software utility does not support this system". But the Download-Site said it is for Windows XP.

I have downloaded them from this site:
    [Toshiba Download Site|http://de.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp?macId=&mode=allMachines& userOS=&action=search&selCategory=2&selFamily=3&se lSeries=154&selProduct=762&selShortMod=-1&selOS=all&selType=all&country=12&language=17&sea rch=]
There is one Link that is called "Hotkey Utility" and another one for the "Power Saver". (I have also downloaded and installed the Display Driver, Modem Driver, ...)

  • Re: Satellite P775-11P and upgrade with second HDD

I know that you can have a second HDD in higher models, but ist it possible to add a second HDD to my P775-11P???
Because the place/bay is already there, only the cables are missing....
    Please help.....

    I agree with Macius
If the connectors are missing, the second HDD is not possible.
The point is that all the notebooks use the same plastic covers but the motherboards might be different and this is the reason why the second bay is available but the 2nd HDD is not possible.

  • USB Ports on 3 month old Satellite C655-S5049 do not work-even after Recovery to "Out-of-Box" state

Hello - Hoping someone can help with another suggestion- it doesn't look good.
Both USB ports on my wife's 3 month old Satellite C655-S5049 are non-functional with any USB device. Flash drives, wireless mouse, and external hard drive (powered) that all work on all of my other computers, do not work in either of this laptop's USB ports.
This problem seems to have developed gradually, and became noticeable previously as non-responsiveness in the wireless mouse, which gradually became a concern, with the computer appearing to freeze or lock-up - probably because of the number of times the mouse was clicked on shortcuts and executables before something happened.
The ports are now completely "dead"- no recognition of anything inserted once the computer is up and running.
There appears to be a thermal component involved, since I was able to get the devices recognized and working for up to a minute when booting the computer with the devices in the ports after it had been off for several hours after I did the default state recovery. The flash drive and mouse were recognized, drivers loaded message, but they then went to "unplugged" before I could get the cursor moving. I was able to access the flash drive, since I did it as soon as the driver loaded, but then it disappeared ("un-plugged" itself in the driver loaded message box). I can also get them recognized from this COLD boot state when I immediately plug them in once Windows 7 (64) loads, but they quickly disappear. If I wait a few minutes before re-booting, they flash during the Windows boot, but drop-out before it completes. If I wait 3-4 hours to re-boot, they flash (are recognized) for about a minute (Windows completely loads), but then they drop out.
I tried all of the suggestions on this board (and others) before doing a Recovery to Factory Default state. I have tried it with the original version 1.20 Bios, and with the version 1.50 Bios update. All driver updates have been downloaded and installed. The laptop does occasionally lock-up at the Toshiba screen during boot, and is verrrry slow in some operations (2 hours to do the recovery discs). The only other noticeable problem (at this time) is an occasional drop-out of wireless (Atheros AR9285) connectivity, which I have been blaming on the router since it is sporadic and infrequent (not consistent with the thermal argument). These problems are all after the Factory Default State recovery operation, so my assumption is that they are hardware based.
Any suggestions for a solution? This is a standard spec Satellite C655-S5049 that I was considering adding another 2GB memory to, but now I am unsure of its' future. A laptop cooler that runs from a USB port seems counter-productive.
I am technically capable, so you can be much briefer in your response than I have been in trying to fully detail the problems. This isn't the NVidia chip, but it does bring back memories of laptops past.
    Thanks for any help,
    G

I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE SAME MODEL. I GOT THE SERVICE
MANUAL AND I'M THINKING TO OPEN IT AND SEE IF THERE'S SOME PHYSICAL BAD CONNECTION
INSIDE. BUT LIKE YOU SAID.  IT'S ONLY THREE MONTHS OLD.!!! I DON'T WANT TO RUIN THE WARRANTEE.
BUT THIS IS VERY FRUSTATING. I WANDER IF TOSHIBA DOES THIS ON PURPUSE.!!! KEEP IN TOUCH AND
IF YOU NEED THE SERVICE MANUAL CONTACT ME AT [email protected]

  • Satellite A665-S6093 Fan not working.

My laptop's processor fan is not working properly, the processor is reaching temperatures of 80 to 90 degrees Celsius and the fan would be running at very low speed. When I first bought my notebook, the fan would be functioning at very high speeds when gaming, but now the computer is overheating and instantly turning off. If anybody can help me, I'd very much appreciate it, my computer is overheating a lot now, and I can barely use it.

Have you tried updating the BIOS?
ACPI Flash BIOS version 1.70 for Satellite L670D/L675D (PSK3JU)
The worry is, of course, that it'll turn off during the BIOS update. If it does, it may require servicing. On the other hand, servicing is what I would also recommend next.

  • Satellite A350 - wireless is not working

    Hi, I have a Satellite A350 running Vista 64
I'm having problem with my wireless not working and light (next to switch) not turning on, even though the switch is on. I have had this happen quite a few times and easily fixed it with FN+F8. Although, now FN+F8 does not exist, e.g. when holding down the FN key, there is no F8 (wireless) option available. I have updated to the latest drivers of both the Realtek network adapter and BIOS. Neither have fixed the problem.
I consulted the Toshiba Manual and discovered, "If no wireless communication device is installed, no dialog box (FN+F8) will appear." When I looked at the Device Manager, the network adapter (Realtek) was working properly.
I have also tried numerous system restores in an attempt to undo any update which may have caused the problem.
    What else can I do?

    Hi.
I've posted the same problem in thread :
"Satellite L450D - Wireless network adapter has disappeared"
Also, from thread "Wireless quit working" :
"My wife has a Satellite L305-S5968 which she bought last month. The wireless had been working fine until she returned from a vacation (where she used the wireless at her brothers home). Once home, it quit working. Coincidently, we started getting a USB Device Not Recognized message. I looked in Device Managers and did not find any wireless adapters under the Network Adapters. There is a Realtek Ethernet adapter listed. So I tried a Ethernet cord and got connectivity immediately. What can I do?
My wife called Toshiba support. Here it turns that when the goes to sleep or the battery gets overcharged, it causes the hardware to malfunction. She had to take out the battery, pull the power cord and hold down the power button to discharge any remaining power in memory. She reconnected the power cord, powered up, uses F2 to go to setup utility and did a restore of all original hardware settings (with F9). Everything worked (we were not aware at the time but the printer and corded mouse were not working either). We are back in business. Maybe this will help someone else."
I saw these too late, my laptop had already gone back to Currys. I've just been called to say I can pick it up, this has been fixed!
