Function module swending mails

Hi Gurus,
I have 2 scenarios where a FM is used to send mails.
I am using a function module custom function module which in turn uses the FM SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1 to send mails. To my surprise this works in one scenario but not in another one. Could you please reply me with the probable resaon behind it.

check the parameter data which ur passing to the FM. May eb some of the parameter field data is missing while sending the data to FM.

  • Enabling Select-options in an RFC function module

    Hi Abaper's,
    I am using BAdi definition NOTIF_EVENT_SAVE for sending mail notification to user.
    Under CHANGE_DATA_AT_SAVE method I have called an RFC enabled function module and written code here for mail notification.I used cl_bcs class for sending file.On executing this I am getting a mail box wherein we can enter user id and send mail.But I don't want to use cl_bcs for sending mail now.So I modified the code by including SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1 function.
    My requirement is I want to enable select-options in this function module so that user can get a popup wherein he can select user name from master.On activating I am getting following error:
    Local SELECT-OPTIONS are not allowed (FORM routine or GET event is active).
    Can any one help me how to resolve this error?
    I am using this customized function module for mail notification.If I hardcode mail id,notification is working properly.

    in the function groups TOP include, you can define a selection-screen:
    SELECTION-SCREEN BEGIN OF SCREEN 9786 [TITLE title].
    select-options: s_uname for ...
    SELECTION-SCREEN END OF SCREEN 9786.
    and in the function use
    CALL SELECTION-SCREEN dynnr
                          [STARTING AT col1 lin1
                          [ENDING   AT col2 lin2]]
    Everything declared in the function body source code is local.
    But you must make sure that CHANGE_DATA_AT_SAVE is not processed in update task.

    Hi,
    You can only get the SAP mails into UWL notification tab with the Sonic connector (well of course with some custom development everything is possible).
    One trick to get the workflow for sending "mails" to UWL is to NOT use email sending step, but instead use a decision step in the workflow and send this work item to the user. The decision step can include the same message as the email, and have onl one option "Confirm" (or whatever). These you can easily display in UWL since they are normal work items.

    Can any one please tell the Function module to send mail from SAP. The scenario is like this,I have a file in local system that i have to send to a particular mail address like [email protected] through a report program.

  • Issue while mail triggering using function module SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1

    Hi all,
    I have requirement to send mails from BADI.For that i used following function modules-SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1
    and
    SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1,
    Both of these two function module requires to use COMMIT WORK statement.
    But if we use COMMIT WORK statement in BADI a run time error is occuring as its not allowed in BADI.
    Can anybody provide solution for this  or provide another function module.

    you can better use commitwork and wait. it sets sy-subrc.
    To avoid runtime error / dump you can check the sy-subrc value. if its not equal to zero. just
    Roll back work.
    Plz look at the piece of code below

    if you try to update any database after you successfully send the file . then i think commit work statement is necessary for you.

    I can only get the last page of the list out when running in background. Any solution to this?

  • Better way of Sending E-Mail Notifications -- Workflow or Function Module ?

    Hi All,
    I have an implicit enhancement written in a t-code and based on some conditions I am creating event which inturn will trigger the workflow which inturn send e-mail notification via send mail step.
    My question is:
    Which one of the ways is better in terms of performance or overhead to send an e-mail notification. (There are no Approval processes in the workflow.. Just One Step E-mail Notification).
    1) In the Implicit Enhancement, Trigger an event which inturn will trigger the workflow and e-mail is sent via send mail step.
    2) In the Implicit Enhancement, Send the e-mail notification via standard function modules available... such as
       "SO_OBJECT_SEND", "SO_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1".........
    Would be grateful if someone can post the Advantages and Disadvantages in the above 2 ways of sending e-mail notifications..

    Just to throw in some additional factors, consider exception handling:
    An event-based send mail step is decoupled and thus independent of your application. This means your exception handling is separate. It means you do not need to hold up the transaction if there is a failure. All this depends on how important the mail is. You could of course add validation code to ensure the mail address is valid and send it elsewhere if not.
    Regarding performance, consider how often this happens. If it's an infrequent occurrence then I wouldn't worry about performance. Hundreds or thousands a day is a different story.
    So the answer is:
    Workflow for low-volume scenarios (low performance impact) that are important (better error handling in WF),
    Direct mail for high volume and noncritical
    In between these, use whatever you like
    One more thing to perhaps consider the future. What are the chances of the mail being replaced by a work item in furture? Sometimes it's only by observing a process after go live that you can identify the best solution. e.g. you may decide to replace the mail with a "Please go fix this" work item because you need deadline monitoring

  • Function moduls to create csv-file and send it per mail

    we have the following requirement.
    We created an eventhandler.
    Inside this eventhandler we built up an internal table with 1-n entries.
    Now we want to create a csv-file or excel-file in background and send it to the users mailadress.
    Are there standard function modules which we can use for this requirement.
    We can´t download the file directly to the users client with cl_gui_frontend_services because we are not in SAP GUI but in CRM Webclient UI.

    I guess you can only use  SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1 this Fm, when you got to send a mail with some attachment,rather than using this FM, use the object oreinted methods. use the class cl_bcs with the following methods. the advantage of this is lesser coding and you get a formated output. try this standard program for the formmated output of XLS as an attachment BCS_EXAMPLE_1.
