Function of create Storage Location Automatically

Whats the function of the following Tab in SPRO.
SPRO- Materials management - Inventory management and Physical Inventory - Goods issue/Transfer Posting - Create Storage Location Automatically
Please advise

Hi,
This is the case for, if you work with negative stocks and a material's first movement may be an outward movement that is Goods issue or Transfer posting.
If the material master record is not extended to the storage location which is giving at the time of goods issue / transpfer posting, system won't allow to post the document. First you have to maintain material master record for that SL, then only system will allow postings.
In such cases if the material master record is not created for the storagelocation, SAP having facility like that system can update / create SL data for that materila master record automatically by the system during GI / TP postings.
For that you have to activate SL Create automatically checkbox aganist Plant as well as Movement type. You have activate in both the settings, then only system will update/create SL data in the MMR.
If the Negative postings allowed means eventhough stock is not there, system will allow to issue stock and inventory will show with negative sign.
For ex: Stock is zero. You have issue 25 with the movement type 201, system will allow to issue the stock. But inventory will show -25 for that material (Check in MMBE).
This is case for, if you work with negative stocks and a material's first movement may be an outward movement that is Goods issue or Transfer posting. Then only these setting will helpful.

Hi Experts,
Currently we're inprocess of implementing "create storage location automatically" for reservation, and I've done with the configuration for both reservation side (Define Default Values) and movement type side (GI/transfer posting - Create Storage Location Automatically).
For movement type 201, new storage location successfully extended/created using T-Code MB21 (Create Reservation). But we found an error message while conducting the same thing for movement type 261 (which only can be created using T-Code IW31 (Create material reservation form Work Order).
Did we missed any required configuration? Pls kindly advice on what we should do.

Here's the current situation,
We configured the plant/storage view (SPRO), most of materials already extended to desired plant and storage location. Commonly, we can extend or create any materials for certain plant and/or storage location by maitain material master data (using T-Code MM01).
Recently, we develop the additional configuration to activate "automatic create storage location" for reservation, aligning with the movement type for Goods Issue (201,221,261,301,etc).
Let's say we have material number 123456789 and currently assigned to plant YYYY, but not extended to storage location XXXX. By performing T-Code MB21 (create reservation) with movement type 201 inputted, the respective material (123456789) is automatically created for the XXXX storage location.
But the above condition is not effected while performing the same thing using T-Code IW31 (create material reservation via Work Order) with movement type 261 (GI for Order).
Any idea to perform create storage location automatically while creating reservation for movement type 261? is there any possible configuration or procedure to be added?

How to extend material in storage location automatically???

Dear Gurus,
We have 9 plants in this company.
Every time we create a material we have to extend it in all plants.
Because it takes to long to do this one by one with MM01 we use mm17 and we created there a variant that extends the materials in all plants automatically.
Then we have 3 storage locations for each plant. we use MMSC: enter storage locations collectively, to extend each the material in all the storage locations of the company 9x3 = 27. This takes too long as a procedure.
Is there a way to automate this procedure, via rutines, codes, variants, ABAP etc??? and how should I do that??

In customization spro>>MM>>inventory management>>Plant parameters>>select your plant >>click on create storage location automatically
click that one, if your not extended the material to the particular storage location and doing the goods receipt to the particular storage location system will allow you to do that

in the moment when you perform the first movement to this storage location, then SAP will extend the material master. Most fields in the material master storage location view are not storage location specifc, the are kept at client or plant level. Only a few fields are storage location specific. you either have to complete those fields later manually or you must not activate auto storage location creation .

How to create storage locations in a standalone scenario??

Hello everybody,
I need some help. I'm working with SRM 5.0. I'm making a standalone scenario. When I created the organizational plan, in the check tab, a error appears. The message is: "Define the attribute LAG". The attribute LAG is the storage location, in the extended attributes tab. I've tried defining this attribute but I couldn't.
Does anybody know how to create storage locations in a standalone scenario??

Look at this thread:

Storage loc is useless in a standalone scenario.
The "Check" tab makes a generic check on attributes needed for each business scenario, but does not check the integration scenario.
So you can get rid of this error message.
You can even deactivate this check on this particular attribute in table BBPV_APPL (SM30), for Confirmation & SC applications.

Transport the created Storage Bin Automatic from develop to quality LS10

Hello,
My customer has created a new entry in LS10 u2013 Create Storage Bin Automatically in the development system with a transport order.
He forgot to do Environment u2013 Create bins. I did it with my user in the development system and SAP has created the bins automatically (the system creates and launch a batch-input). The system did not ask me for a transport order (I think because this created data is master data).
The user has transported the transport order from development to quality system but the Storage Bins are not in QAS. I told to the user that the Storage Bin are master data and we has to do Environment u2013 Create bins in each new environment but LS10 transaction has status 'not modifiable' in quality and production system.
There is a way to transport the created Storage Bin Automatically from development to quality and production? Now the user is asking me to have the Storage Bins in quality and production with access LS10 in status 'not modifiable'.

I could not transport them but I have created the storage bin directly in QAS with LS05 because LS10 is not available.

Different storage location automatically pick for same material code

As per my requirement,
We have two storage locations i.e Return Location and Finished Location and single plant and single shipping point.
At the time of Normal delivery system should be automatic picked Finished Location and return delivery system have to pick Return Location only.
I tried to do Storage location determination but system is not picking correct location. Kindly guide me.

As per my understanding, Creation of Storage Location is Client Specific and does require a Customizing Request to be assigned. So, I think we cannot avoid the Customizing Request.

Create storage locations

Hi,
       There is a requirement to do a mass creation of storage locations. While creating a storage location, I have to upload data such as
1) Address realted data for storage location(Name, streetm Postal code,city
2) storage type, storage section, print params from storage location
3) WM connect, MRP, fixed bin assignment
    Is there any BAPI that suits this requirement.
What is the tcode for storage location creation and updation of this data.

            In OX09 tcode on the left pane, if the 'Address of storage locations' is selected, I got a list with a field labelled 'No.' Is that the address number? Where do I need to update the street/houseno, postal code, city details etc.

Automatic storage location view creation in maintenace order (IW31)

Hello,
Seems like I need some help.
Have configured automatic storage location view creation for GR and reservation. Configured movement types are 101, 201, 261. While creating reservations (201, 261 mvmnt. types) with mb21 the sloc view is automatically created in material master, and everything seems fine.
But in iw31 when I specify material number and sloc in a Components tab, I get an error message CO312: "The storage location data is not created". Automatic reservation is not created, and maintenance order can not be saved. Movement type 261 is used for automatic reservations for the maintenance order.
If I configure message CO312 as a (W)arning message, then it allows me to save the order and reservation, but sloc view in material master still is not created. Think that's not good and may lead to MRP issues.
How can I configure automatic sloc view creation in iw31? Is that possible?

The customization required for Automatic Storage location creation at reservation are:
Goto : SPRO -> MM -> inventory Management and physical inventory -> Goods issue/ Transfer posting -> Create storage location automatically
first of all go to Plant and tick the automatic Storage location creation for the Plant. After that goto Movement type and tick the automatic Storage location for movement type 261.

In OMJJ you can flag the Create Storage location automatically for all the Movemnt types.
This Creation of Storage location will work only in case of Good receipt Postings only.

Hello Narendra,
If you are trying for automatic creation of strorage location for goods movement to special stock, then ithe data will nit be created. This standard SAP functionality.
Also if you have maintained storage location in the preceeding documents, then it will automatically fetched during goods reciept.
