Function to get the path without name of file
Hello everyone!
I'm using the function 'KD_GET_FILENAME_ON_F4', this function works very good but every time I choose a destination folder in the pop-up window it always asks me for a file name, but I need a function if it exist in SAP of course that only asks me for the destination folder and nothing else.
I hope somebody could help me to find another function.
Thanks for you time.
Hi,

How can I get the path of an existing file????

I'm a newbie in Jsp development, so this question may appear trivial.

Getting the path of a resource file inside the context
I am trying to migrate some of our applications running on OracleApplicaiton Server. We have data resource xml file needs to use in the applicaiton. In Oracle Application server we used to give the actual path of the xml file to load the xml file to the parsers since we know the path of the directories after deploying the application as an ear file. How can I get the path of the files in weblogic after deployment. If this is not supported what is the alternative to get the relative path of that xml file to load in ? The xml file is in the root folder of the context.
THanks
SuneeshHi Suneesh,
Please try enabling the <show-archived-real-path-enabled> Tag to TRUE ...And then everything will work fine with the following code:
context.getRealPath()
At domain level in config.xml. For example:
<web-app-container>
<show-archived-real-path-enabled>true</show-archived-real-path-enabled>
</web-app-container>
*****OR *****
At the web app level in weblogic.xml. For example:
<container-descriptor>
<show-archived-real-path-enabled>true</show-archived-real-path-enabled>
</container-descriptor>
For Archived Applications , It is always a best practice to use the getResourceAsStream() rather than using getResource().......Below code snippet should workout in 99% cases
InputStream stream=this.getClass().getClassLoader().getResourceAsStream("someXMLorPropfile.properties");
Thanks

Function to get the path using a parent-child relationship
Hello,
I have a table which uses parent-child relationship to store the options available. I need a function to give me the full path given the id of a particular option.
I have two different functions. One of them uses the Oracle built in function and the other uses simple queries with a loop.The code of the functions are given below.
Now, the problem is with their "performance". The difference in their performance is significant. The function using the Oracle function takes more than 2 hours to run a query whereas the other function takes less than 2 minutes.
I am having trouble trusting the other function. No matter how many tests I perform on the output of both the functions, it always comes out to be the same.
Any thoughts to help me understand this ??

Hello Frank,
The parameters taken by gettree & getoptpath are app_opt_id and app_id and both the functions return only one string i.e. the path of that particular option (app_opt_id) starting from its root and not all the descendants of that option/root node of that option.
So, does that mean that gettree first fetches all the descendants of the root node of the given option and then returns the required one ??Yes. It's a little like the situation where you need to meet with your co-worker Amy, so you send an e-mail to everyone in the department telling them to come to your office, and then, when they arrive, tell everyone except Amy that they can leave.
>
And if that is the case, then won't it be better to use the bottom-up approach to fetch the required path just for that particular option ?? 'coz my requirement is that only.. given an option_id get the full path starting from the root.Exactly!
I have used explain plan also for both the functions.. but since I did not know how to anlayze the output from plan_table so I just compared the value in the fields and they were exactly the same for both the queries.If you'd like help analyzing the plans, post them, as Centinul said.
I am attaching a sample data with the outputs of both the functions for the reference.
(tried attaching the file but could not find the option, so pasting the data here)

8 2 7 scr1 scr1 scr1
9 2 8 opt1 scr1=>opt1 scr1=>opt1
10 2 7 scr2 scr2 scr2Please help.The best solution is to do a bottom-up query, and write a function like reverse_path (described in my first message) to manipulate the string returned by SYS_CONNECT_BY_PATH. You seem to have all the PL/SQL skills needed for this.
Another approach is a revised form of gettree, like I posted earlier. Does it do what you want or not?
If you'd help, then post a little sample data in a form people can actually use, such as CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements. Post a few sets of parameters, and the results you need from each set, given the sample data posted. -

When a file is uploaded, the file name is also submitted. The path of the file is available only to the machine within the Local Machine security zone. The value property returns only the file name to machines outside the Local Machine security zone. See About URL Security Zones for more information on security zones.
i need to know on how to get the compelete path /directory of the filename
using <input type="file"> tag You can't. Its a security thing.
is there any other way to get an input file from a local host aside from <input type="file"> tag?No. Not using just html.
You could always go into activex components, but thats different again.

How can I get the path name and rename it?
I Hope someone who knows more about automator than I can help me out here. What I'm trying to do is get the path file name, while also changing part of it. Here is my example:
I can get the path name with this "Get Path" script I found http://automatorworld.com/archives/get-path/all-comments/
It does half the job so I just need to tweak it but know how. When I get the path this is what I'll get: /Volumes/Public/Creative Services/Campaigns/2010/NCDDiv-32CDV Upgrade/NCDDIV-32Versions.xls
I need to remove the beginning part"/volumes" to "file://///nhmanmkt01"
This is so I can send the path from our sever where we keep our files to my windows friends so they can open it.
Thanks for any help you can provide!ok, make the following workflow.
1. get selected finder items.
2. run shell script
<pre style="
font-family: Monaco, 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;
font-size: 10px;
margin: 0px;
padding: 5px;
border: 1px solid #000000;

echo "$f"|sed 's%/Volumes%file://///nhmanmkt01%'
done</pre>
set the script to accept input as arguments
3. copy to clipboard
save it as a finder plugin. -
How to get the main funciton name when calling another function inside?
for eg, one RFC named A,inside A,a funtion B is called.when the processing is at B now,how can i get the main RFC name(A)?
any help will be much appricated.> just see SM50,there is a column called 'Report',it shows the program id the proess is now processing.but i don't know its main program or say it 'the process's first excuting program',how can i get it programmatically?
I'm still not sure to understand. The program in SM50 is the current main program (not the first). It is stored in SY-REPID system variable. Or use this code:
DATA lt_callstack_long TYPE abap_callstack.
DATA ls_callstack_long TYPE LINE OF abap_callstack.
CALL FUNCTION 'SYSTEM_CALLSTACK'
IMPORTING
callstack = lt_callstack_long.
READ TABLE lt_callstack_long INDEX 1 INTO ls_callstack_long.
WRITE : / 'current main program is:', ls_callstack_long-mainprogram.
If you want to know the frame program (the first called), use SY-CPROG, or use this code:
DATA lt_callstack_long TYPE abap_callstack.
DATA ls_callstack_long TYPE LINE OF abap_callstack.
CALL FUNCTION 'SYSTEM_CALLSTACK'
IMPORTING
callstack = lt_callstack_long.
" read last line = first called program
DESCRIBE TABLE lt_callstack_long. "to make sy-tfill = number of lines
READ TABLE lt_callstack_long INDEX sy-tfill INTO ls_callstack_long.

I think you should use a pl/sql function for this.
Nah ... just joking.
I'd be tempted to just use a union all statement to return the seven literals. People will look at it and know exactly what it does.Yeah, agreed, I was just demonstrating that the format mask of a to_char(..., 'Day') pads with spaces, which seems to have been missed in the above answers. ;) -
How do I get the Weblogic system name in WLS 6.1 sp2 without creating T3Client
Hi Folks,
In Weblogic Server 5.1, I get the weblogic.system.name using the following code:
T3ServicesDef t3services = T3Services.getT3Services();
String systemName t3services.config().getProperty("weblogic.system.name");
What is the counterpart for Weblogic Server 6.1?
Thanks in advance for your help.
BillThe class doesn't seem to be documented in the normal documentation, but
you can get an overview of the methods by executing
javap weblogic.management.Admin
with weblogic.jar in your classpath.
Hope that helps,

use
the new JMX services which have replaced our proprietary management

here is the link to our WebLogic JMX documentation:

Besides writing a JMX client, you can also take advantage of the
following short-cut for retrieving the server name. The remaining code
for this example can be found in your WebLogic Server samples directory
under: ./wlserver6.1/samples/examples/cluster/rmi/HelloClusterImpl.java
private String getLocation(){

How to get the actual font name from a font file?
Hi
I have only the font Path I have to get the font name from that path. Any idea how to get the actual font name?
Thanks,I would ask you these questions:
Why do you need to do this? What are you ultimately trying to accomplish?
Are you really asking about the InDesign SDK?
Do you really need to get the "name" of a font from an arbitrary file? Or do you want information about a font installed on the system? If so, what OS?
Do you need to be able to handle any font format?
Which font "name" do you mean?
What language do you want the name in?
(1) It's not clear what you're trying to accomplish. A bit more information about your ultimate goal would be helpful.
(2) This question is not at all specific to the InDesign SDK. Are you really trying to do something in the context of an InDesign plug-in? If so, you probably want to look at IID_IFONTFAMILY and the IFontFamily::GetFamilyName function.
(3) If you are asking more generally, Windows and Mac both have system API calls to get this information, although those tend to deal with installed system fonts, not with arbitrary font files per se.
Also, you can parse the name table from a True Type or Open Type font without using any system APIs; as True Type and Open Type are well-documented standards. I would start by reading these:
The Naming Table
Font Names Table
(4) Although there are other standards, such as Type 1 (PostScript) fonts, and True Type Collection files and other formats, especially on Mac.
(5) Also, when you start down this road, you will quickly realize that your seemingly simple question is actually ambiguous, and that the answer is kind of complicated, because a font can have many names (a family name, a full font name, a style name, a PostScript name, etc.).
(6) And not only does a font have multiple names, it can have each of those names in multiple languages and encodings.
Any clarification would make this a better question. -
How to get a parameter without name in JSP?
hi everyone, My question is how to get a parameter without name in JSP? I have two pages, 1.html and 2.jsp.
in 1.html, I embeds some Javascript codes in HTML contents like below ( changed < to ( , > to )):
function toSubWin( obj )
window.open('test.jsp?'+obj.firstChild.toString(),'sw');
(a onClick='toSubWin(this)'style="background:green")focus(/a)
How can I get the parameter in 2.jsp?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!Does obj.firstChild.toString() evaluate to a "name=value" type of String ?
Or better what does obj.firstChild.toString(),'sw' evaluate to ? It has to end up in a name=value format, else its just gibberish appended to the url.
In the jsp, you have to obviously know the name to get the parameter. There's a getParameterNames() method which returns you a Collection of parameter names as Strings, you could probably use that to retrieve the param values.
Then there's a getParameterMap() method which returns an immutable Map containing parameter names as keys and parameter values as map values. The keys in the parameter map are of type String. The values in the parameter map are of type String array.
However to what ends you employ them in a program which doesnt know its inputs is a different story.

Because if wan or internet then the remote computer would have to have an address that is reachable from your computer. For the internet this would mean it would have to be public. And for a wan the IP would have to be unique across the wan. -
How to get the current schema name

Jogeshok folks, I found the answer at Tom's as usual.

I rewrote it into a function for kicks. just pass the results of DBMS_UTILITY.FORMAT_CALL_STACK to this function and you will get back the owner of the code making the call as well some extra goodies like the name of the code and the type of code depending on the parameter. This ignores the AUTHID CURRENT_USER issues which muddles the schemaid. Quick question, does the average user always have access to DBMS_UTILITY.FORMAT_CALL_STACK or does this get locked down on some systems?
