Functional knowledge in XI

Hi,
I am basically an XI developer, but during interviews they ask for some basic functional knowledge in SD,HR,MM etc.Can you guys send me the basic functional doc for HR,SD,MM  to my mail id : [email protected] ASAP
*********Points will be awarded*********
Thanks
Sud

Hey
>>but during interviews they ask for some basic functional knowledge in SD,HR,MM etc
thats strange, until and unless the job description says that you need to have functional knowledge of the R/3 modules or you resume itself says that u have worked as a functional consultant they should  not ask u functional stuffs of R/3 modules.
i guess if u acclimatize yourself with the IDOC's used in the R/3 modules as well as the FM that should be it.also u need know the configuration done on R/3 side (and XI side) for IDOC,RFC and proxy,u should know how to write the ABAP code to call a FM etc.
just my view ,may be others have different opinion on this:)
thanx
Aamir

  • PP  functional knowledge for BW Consultant

    Hi experts
Could you please tell me the functional knowledge of PP required for BW Consultant and very thankful to you if you mention the business flow of PP and its integration with other modules.I have gone through forums but i didnt get these things.
    Thanks in advance

The basic idea is, no one can master everything especially in SAP.
And the practical tips are listed as below
    1) Go through PP overview, gain the basic concept such as Material Master / Work Center / Routine ... And you'd better to know SOP / FCST / Order / LTP / MPS / MRP / Production Order ....
    2) Go to BI BP, try
    B80: Production Plan-Actual Analysis
    B81: Period-Specific Analysis
    B58: Capacity Load Utilization
    B65: Status of Manufacturing Orders
    BI1: Goods Issue Error Handling
    3) Compare your previous BW project experience on other modules.

  • Functional Knowledge

I am a beginner to the Oracle Financials area. Does any one know how to improve functional business knowledge in the areas of Orader amangement, inventory management and financials(paybles, receivables,etc..) Can some one please provide any websites to learn functional knowledge?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi:
You hve to spend some time, probably a day or two on each module. E.g., FI-CO (Finance Controlling), FI-AA (Assets), FI-AP (Accounts Payable), MM (Material Management)etc.
These, you can go to help.sap.com and from there, follow the directions for BI.
The documentation is pretty good in terms of general queries, cubes, R/3 fields, etc here in Business Content.
You can then go to R/3 documentation for Assets for example and see how they are posted and maintained.
Just takes time. Its better than courses becasue you will learn to explore.

  • Functional knowledge mandatory for an abaper

    Dear Experts,
I have one doubt .I would like to know how much functional knowledge is required for an abaper. I am a beginner.
How to become a good abaper.

The more business and functional knowledge a developer has, the better he'll be able to apply his development skills. Though I'd rather have a developer with little business knowledge who's really good a programming, than a business monster who doesn't know what encapsulation is.  Sadly, especially since the idea that technical skills are a commodity, what you end up with is "developers" who have no understanding of program design and no business understanding either. And dreadfully written programs, which are intially produced very cheaply but are enormously expensive to maintain or enhance. But that's ok, because maintainance and enhancement is an operational cost, not a project cost.
The split between functional/technical is in my mind rather artificial. I've been working in IT for a long time. When I started we had analyst programmers. We used to go talk to the business, find out their needs, then go a write the software. My suspicion is that the large consultancies didn't like the technical side of IT, as there you have to produce concrete results. So they came up with the idea of the functional/technical split. This also helped in other ways, because they could then take on "IT" people with no technical knowledge at all, which are certainly a lot easier to find.
    ...here endeth the rant...

I am a BI Developer and have fair bit of understanding in BI Modelling.
But I am struggling to get Finance functional knowledge.
I work under Financial Accouting and Cost Center / Profit Center Accouting / Controlling part of BI
Is there any document / tutorial that I can go and get some useful info on WBS Element, Cost Element, Cost Center, GL account, Profit Center, CO Order, and other financial master data and how they are related in finance...
Basic overall knowledge of how the Finance works and documents would be much much appreciated.
Thank ful to any one who can provide help..
    Thanks a lot

    Hi Phani,
    FI Flow
Basically there are 5 major topics/areas in FI,
    1. GL Accounting -
related tables are SKA1, SKB1 Master data
BSIS and BSAS are the Transaction Data
    2. Account Receivables- related to Customer
All the SD related data when transfered to FI these are created.
    Related Tables BSID and BSAD
    3. Account Payables - related Vendor
All the MM related documents data when transfered to FI these are created
    Related Tables BSIK and BSAK
All the above six tables data is present in BKPF and BSEG tables
You can link these tables with the hlp of BELNR and GJAHR and with Dates also.
    4. Special Purpose Ledger.. which is rarely used.
    5. Asset Managment
    In CO there are
    Profit center Accounting
Cost center Accounting will be there.
    Cross-Application Components -> Financial.

  • Minority interest - functional knowledge & grouping for Consolidation

    Hi Experts,
    Scenario
    A > holds 100% in B, 10% in C, 5% in D
    B > holds 90% in C, 95% in D, 100 % in E, 1 % in F
    E > holds 99 % in F
No shares are owned by parties outside the group.
    1) Minority Interest
In case like this will MI be accounted for?
Can we say B's holding of 1% in equity of F as minority holding?
    Similarly A's holding of 5 % in D; 10% in C?
    2) Consolidation Groups - in this scenario will be
    CG 1 - E & F                   (E - Parent, Purchase Method)
    CG 2 - B, C, D, F & CG1  (B - Parent, Purchase Method)
    CG 3 - A, C, D & CG2      (A - Parent, Purchase Method)
    Many Thanks!
    Kumar

    Thanks Dan!
Yes, purchase method is assigned to all Cons Units and groups.
Having said that, is the grouping correct?

  • Regarding MM function

    hey guys,
I am trying to learn MM functional module myself.
To start with i need some sample data(SAP existing data)
to see how the transaction flows from one screen to another screen.
so can somebody give me a starting from basic purchase order transaction screens.
    Ambichan.

    Hi Ambichan,
I have come across many ABAPers who have said that they want to gain Functional Knowledge all by themseleves. And I hate to sound discouraging, but it simply cannot be done.
The best way is to take some training by an SAP authorized training center. And after that you will have to keep working on projects that require you to use the concepts you have learnt. This is very important.
If you are still insistent on learning it all by yourself, then at least try to get an SAP IDES system. IDES is the International Demo and Education Systems wing of SAP which provides SAP systems with consistent and stable data for educational purposes. These systems come with examples for all standard scenarios. The IMG is configured and all you have to do is to run through the transactions directly. Of course, it is not practical to do that all by yourself. The practice should ideally go hand in hand with training.

    Anand Mandalika.

Go to wwww.google.com ( search flow of SD in SAP ) flow of HR in SAP ) flow of abc module in SAP .
Don’t mind , but it always good to search your self again first . I mean finding in google.com , and SDN .. Most of the time you’ll definitely get answer .
Peoples asked about functional knowledge , because if you know the flows you can understand the business process and write good program and also give input . You can also see different angles of 1 view. I must say its not obligatory for ABAP`er but it always a Plus point
    Thanks and Good luck !!

  • What is the purpose or functions of these tables?

    Dear Experts,
Briefly, could you explain what is the purpose or function of these tables:
    1. INOB - link between internal number and object. Is internal number = internal order number? related to project? purpose?
    2. AUSP -  Characteristic values - what characteristics? all? purpose?
    3. CABN - Characteristic : what is the purpose of this table?
    4. KLAH - Class header data : what is purpose of Class ?
Are these cross-application like MM+SD etc or application area-specific eg MM only?
Sorry, but i have no strong functional knowledge in these aspects. Please enlighten me.
    Thanks in advance.
    regards
    Bass

    1. INOB - link between internal number and object. Is internal number = internal order number? related to project? purpose?
It is a linking table for internal number and object for characterstics tables. It is not relate to project.
    2. AUSP - Characteristic values - what characteristics? all? purpose?
It will show what are the objects in class and internal characterstics.Details it will not show and it shows only numbers
For e.gSuppose you have provided some values in Characterstics like qty 10,20..and colour ...red ,while..,Sytem will show these details in this table.
    3. CABN - Characteristic : what is the purpose of this table?
It will show the type of characterstic is this numeric or  character
    4. KLAH - Class header data : what is purpose of Class ?
This is also linking table.Thease are cross application tables MM+SD +PP as charactersics used in all process.

  • How to know the function or business scenario of certain field?

    hi experts!
What should i do when i want to know the function or business scenario of certain field but there is only the defination of this field in SAP HELP???
    eg.
What shou i do when i want to know the fuction or effact of the field "vendor" in customer master, general data, control tabpage.
In other words, i  want to know what will happened to the customer master if i entry a vendor number in the field "vendor".
The HELP is just tell me about the field "vendor"'s defination.
I've tried using SE11 to verify "where-used list" of the field "vendor", however, there is only the list but any fruther information about how it works and the business scenario it is used.
please help me, I have been  puzzled for a long time.
    thank you so much!
Edited by: tang dark on Sep 15, 2008 5:37 PM

    Hi,
This is in fact related to functional knowledge which can be mapped via SAP, which means if you are able to visualize the scenarios in your domain then only you can understand the logic of every field in SAP... not only in the customer master. But as of now I can give you some idea about the Vendor filed in the customer master. This means this customer can act like as a vendor for your company.

  • Knowledge of any specific module in XI

    Hey guys
do i need to know any modules of SAP to understand XI properly or not?also in interviews for SAP XI developer what kind of questions are asked.
    thanx
    ahmad

    Hi,
    ><i>do i need to know any modules of SAP to understand XI properly or not?</i>
Functional Knowledge can help but it is not necessary to understand XI. Basic EAI knowledge and you can work on XI and become a master in it without any f'nal expertise.
Interview questions~~ Take a look at this threead,
