i think found the sulution for that.
historical alternative lableing can be reused by using tranzaction IL10.
you put the alternative lable and run the tranzaction.
the lable is free again.

You can same FLOC by different name. Eg. K1 is a FLOC and you can activate alternative labelling for it and name it as G1.
Must: Activation of alternative labelling in customizinf for this setting
Procedure: IL02>Extras>Alternative Labels>Overview>Pen mark (change Label)...here you can give you name of FLOC and now you can this FLOC by both name in IL02

Alternative labelling for Functional locations

I wanted to know if i activate Alternative labelling for Functional locations, does it affect system performance. Also is it worthwhile to activate?

No, it will not have any impact on system performance. Alternative labelling offers you the possibility to have multiple labelling systems so a functional location can be known by different names by different parts of your organization. If you have a need for this then it would be useful otherwise probably not.

Problem when Indicator for Alt. labelling for functional location activated
Dear Experts,
In our test system, i had activated alternative labelling for functional lcation for an interface with Locations in ISU.
After i activated it the entire labelling for functional locations got changed to some arbitrary sustem generated number. For a sample -?0100000000000000142. Is there a ways i can retrieve the original names back. We have reactivated it to inactive again.

Once alternative labelling is active, the previous functional location number (IFLOT-TPLNR) and OBJNR become a internal number. The visible location labels are stored in table IFLOS (Field STRNO).
How easy it is to revert to status 1-Inactive depends on the existance of IFLOS records. If there are no IFLOS records it should be possible to just deactivate via OIPU transaction - Uncheck the 'alt label active' flag - Save.
Where IFLOS records exist it means functional locations have already been created while the switch was active. These functional locations must be archived. See the full instructions for this process in note [359186|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/359186]. It's a old note but is still valid for all current releases.

Please let me know what is the usage of FL label...I have activated labelling system and assigned few labels.... Can i restrict few FL by assigning the FL labels to the User Profiles of the few of the users so that I can restrict the acess of few FL's to only limited no of user's..
Is there any way out other than this to have authorization restriction for FL's as all the FL's share the same Struct Indicator, maint plant, planning plant and planner group etc...The first part of your query:
The primary significance of a FL label is the hierarchical representation of your larger Equipments or a Group of Equipments.
Then this helps in retrieving several queries at different levels of the Label.
The fundamentals of a FL are very easy to understand if you go through the PLM manuals or SAP help.
The second part of your query:
About restricting few users to handle selected Functional Locations.
This is very much possible. One method is through Planner Group. i.e., The Planner group you mention in the FL Master.
Exempt this particular Planner Group value in the INGRP field (I_INGRP authorisation object) of the concerned role assigned to that particular user. Your Roles & Authorisations specialists would be able to do this.
I hope you would be making use of this hint.

Alternate labelling for functional locations
Hi PM Experts,
Does anyone know how to go about using "Alternate labelling for functional locations".
We currently use a GIS code for our description of our FLOC's, the problem is that the users cannot see the address of the FLOC.
I dont know if the Alternate labelling for functional locations will work or if there is another option available.

It is maintained in the FLOC. The main reason we need the address is when we print out a work order. It displays the FLOC ID but we need the address to be printed out on the order.

Functional Location Structure Indicator
Hi Gurus,
I have created a functional location with an incorrect structure indicator. Wanted to know if there is a way out to change it without using the alternative labelling system?
The current status of the functional location is 'CRTE' (created) & no equipment is installed at this location.
I have to use the same functional location label therefore have to find a way out to get it changed.

You will not be able to change the Structure indicator of a FL once its created.
However if its a brand new FL and noting has yet been assigned(Like equipments) or created (Orders / Notifications) using it and if the FL key satisfies the New Structure indicator (and its the superior FL) You could potentially look at doing a direct table update using a custom program.

We can use object types to group parts but ideally we would like to pull though their asset code to create an alternative structure that the site can view and report by.
Does the alternative Labeling function give me this functionality? If so how do I set this up?

Labelling system will be used if Functional Location code should be based on the user with different structure.
We can assign the user profile to labelling system to achieve that.
But for your requirement, if I understand your requirement correctly, it will not suit.
If each user want to see different label for the same functional location in PM order or notification or in reports, we can use this alternative labelling system.
Here you can use Technical Identification number in Structure tab or Sort field in location tab, I guess.
Else as per your idea, you can go with Object type.

And for the Alternatives please check the customizing or check with your respective Module experts for the appropriate configuration.

Equipment Not Allowed at Functional Location ( Inst. at FunLoc is selected)
Hi All,
I have configure Structure Indicator like XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXXXX. Now I have maintain functional location label like
e.g ABCD-EFG XYZ ( there is a space between G and X) .
I have already allowed installation of all equipment category to functional locations at configuration. But still system gives me an error like Installing equipment is not allowed at functional location ABCD-EFG XYZ (MSG NO IA0002).
Now if I select ABCD system is allowing to install equipment at ABCD.
If space is a special character and i have not maintained S , then why system has created that label, it must throw an error while creating that label.
Please suggest.

1. Configuration for equipment category installation (Already done in your case)
2. In the functional location master data in structure tab "equipment installation allowed" should be activated.
Please allow the equipment installation from functional location master data .

Field movement between screen groups in functional location
Hi,
In functional location, we have layout's like 'general', 'organization'. Within these layout's we have screen groups like '020 Location Data' etc. Is it possible to change the field 'catalog profile' out of 'responsibilities' screen group and move it to another screen group? If it is possible where in SPRO we have to do it.

No, its not possible in standard SAP, however, there are a few alternatives:
- User-exit ITOB0001 (TCode SMOD) to create your own screens
- Customer-specific development: ABAP, WEB Dynpro, etc
- Portal
- GUIXT

I would like to know which tables store information of Functional location BOM (TCODE 1B11) and Equipment BOM (TCODE IB01). Is there a possibility that once we create these BOM's we can create alternative BOM as in case of Material BOM (TCODE CS01).
