Funky window in iTunes 9 with missing sides

I am missing parts of my window in iTunes 9. I am missing the bottom of the window as well as the right hand side. The minimize, maximize and exit buttons are missing. I have to use File, Exit to close the application. Also when i try to scroll through tunes in my library, it does some kind of funky wrap instead of continuing to head down the list. Has anybody seen anything like this? Thanks.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
[I typed it all, I am sooo happy!]
I made an entire post in here, spoke with an Apple rep, and wrote that in the Apple Feedback page as well. No one could answer it.
And you did!
You are my hero!

  • Mac to Windows, taking iTunes with me?

Switching from OS 10.4.9 to Windows Vista (tired of cross-platform issues at the office). How do I transfer my library from the G4 to the PC? If I sync my iPod to the PC Will I lose everything? Miss my Mac but Vista seems pretty Mac-ish.

If everything is on the iPod you could copy the songs from there. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod

  • When I adjust one side of the firefox window, It messes with another side! I Don't want it to do this EVER! How do I stop this?

If I adjust one side of the firefox window to a new size, that is the ONLY thing I want to change! Why does it do this weird stuff I don't want it to do? Older version didn't do this. What's up with that???????

I can't make it happen. I'm trying to think of a convenient way to see what you're seeing without having to record a screencast, but I can't think of one.
Does the same happen in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings). More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset)
    Any difference?

All apple devices are recognised by the PC in itunes but cannot get the music to load onto any of the devices from my itunes library. there is an error message with 100+ errors as songs are not found. I have tried alll sorts of things but at a loss for how to get music onto my devices. I want to buy some more songs but reluctant to because not sure if I can listen to them on my devices! The PC is too difficult to listen to songs on (for obvious reasons).
    Please help.

Thanks for trying, no it did not help. The article describes getting song from apple devices to PC, not the other way around. I will try ringing tech support tomorrow.
    Thanks anyway.

  • 'Please wait while Windows configure iTunes' with every iTunes version.

Basically at first bootup when trying to launch it comes up with this. Takes 1-2 minutes to 'configure'
Once it 'configures' for this bootup iTunes is fine, until the machine is restarted and then it happens again.
Tried to remove the SC Info folder as suggested by Apple Enterprise Support, tried adding System and Administrators as an owner for the key with full control.
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Apple Computer, Inc.\iTunes
Tried to get the prefs files recreated
Tried to run directly from the executable.
Each subsequent version of iTunes I hope there's a fix but there's none.  Hesitant to update itunes on 900 user machines until this thing is fixed.
I know there's a load of this problem out there but would really appreciate any new suggestions to try, or maybe get Apple support on board with trying to fix their product once and for all.
    Thanks

  • I am using Windows 8 with iTunes.  How do I manage iTunes with two different Windows User Accounts?

I have recently bought a laptop running Windows 8 and downloaded iTunes.  I subscribe to iTunes Match and have a large amount of purchased music and imported CDs, along with some films purchased from iTunes.
I have downloaded all of the music and the films to the laptop using iTunes Match when logged in under my User Account in Windows 8.  However, when we switch to my girlfriend's User Account, she can load up iTunes but all the music and films have the cloud symbol on them indicating that they need to be downloaded
Is is necessary to download everything to the computer twice (I can't really believe this is the answer) or are we missing something in terms of using iTunes with two different User Accounts?
    Thank you.

    Step 1
Create a new user account on your device. For Mac users, choose “System Preferences” from the Apple Menu and navigate to the “View” menu. Click on “Accounts” and select the “+” button to add a new user account to your machine. Edit the user information and grant any relevant privileges by following the on-screen prompts.
For Windows users, click on the Windows "Start" button, select “Control Panel” and choose “Add or Remove User Accounts.” A new window will open. Click “Create a New Account.” Name the account and set any relevant privileges by following the on-screen prompts.
    Step 2
Sign in to the new user account you created.
    Step 3
Open iTunes and click “Sign in.” Enter your Apple ID and password and log in.
    Step 4
Download purchases through the iTunes store. All files related to these purchases are stored under the separate user account, thus separating both iTunes accounts and their libraries on the same computer.
    Step 5
You can share music from both libraries by dragging your music library to a publicly accessible location on your computer. Click “Preferences” from the iTunes menu and deselect “Copy files to iTunes Media Library when adding to library file.” Add the shared folder to your library from the “File” menu.
    Tip
Create more than one library from the same user account by deselecting “Copy files to iTunes Media Library when adding to library file” from the “Preferences” menu. Add the files you want to iTunes by dragging and dropping or by opening from the “File” menu and sync your device to that library. Quit iTunes after the sync and reopen iTunes while holding the "Shift" key in Windows or the "Option" key on a Mac.

I recently bought an Ipod touch 2nd gen, (Ebay). It's in great shape and seemed to be wiped clean.
When I connect (via windows computer) to Itunes with usb cord the Ipod icon shows, but the only function you can do is eject. When its in the upper right hand corner and you click on it all you get is a done button, when it's in the side bar right click and your only option is eject, left click has no effect. If I go to "file">devices it's as if there are no devices connected.
I purchased a song with Itunes on the Ipod itself, and it transferred to my library on the computer automatically .
I have an Iphone 5 and a nano that are still functioning with Itunes thru computer so I'm thinking the issue is with the Ipod touch. I've reset it several times, rebooted it, with no change.
nothing on the internet has helped, I called tech support and got disconnected. Should I take it to a retail store? I just don't know where to go next, I'm of course willing to pay for tech or repair. looking for suggestions.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Can't burn a cd in itunes with windows 8

When I try to burn a cd in itunes with Windows 8, I get unknown error 4310.  I am able to burn music and text files with
windows  but not itunes. I believe there may be registry errors and compatiblity issues with Windows 8 and Itunes.
Other errors I received when I tried to fix the problem are disk burner and software missing and disk recording missing.
I have consulted with Dell and ATT ConnectTech and no one seems to be able to solve the problem.  I have uninstalled
itunes and reinstalled itunes several times but still cannot burn cd with Itunes with windows 8...Anyone who has
faced this problem and solved it I would love to hear from you

I don't have much help, but yes, I did burn a CD in iTunes 8. Had some problems--different from yours--and got help from my Apple Care...although they wanted me to write an e-mail to the Apple Store for help (I insisted that Apple Care should cover it and I wanted to talk with someone. Eventually, I got someone in the US). I also turned off the Genius. Don't know if that helped or not.

  • Windows Update Complications with Itunes

A few weeks ago, my computer pushed an update to windows that I didn't have the option to delay any further. I believe it was in connection with the Windows 8 / 8.1 update. After the update was pushed, I also upgraded iTunes to the most recent version, 12.0.1.26.
After the updates, I was no longer able to play songs on iTunes. I was able to open the application and click on a song to play. The song shows at the top player bar, but remains at 0:00.
After searching the iTunes and Windows forums, I saw that many others were having these errors and there were several fixes. I started working through the fixes, one on the Windows forum, which suggested that the file QTmoviewin.dll file was the issue and needed to be deleted. Subsequently, I found several other fixes on this forum suggesting that it only needed to be copied and moved, but as I have been working on this issue over the past several weeks, once I went to restore the file I had deleted, it was no longer available in my recycle bin to restore.
I have tried uninstalling and re-installing iTunes to get the file back, but it doesn't bring that specific file back. I have tried downloading the file from dll.com, but each time I get an error that the install cannot be completed.
I have reached my tech-saavy limits with this one and need help. How can I either restore the file I have deleted but is no longer in my recycle bin or get the file from a secure website that will allow complete installation?
    Thanks!!!

The registry settings used by the iTunes for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing another CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes
With that one, I'd try the following document:

  • Sharing iTunes with Windows 7

Currently running OSX 10.7.5 and Windows 7, along with newest version of iTunes 11.x
My iTunes and music files are on the Mac partition, and I wanted to be able to access my library from the Windows side. I installed iTunes and copied the iTunes library files over from my Mac side to the Windows side. I had iTunes open the library and changed preferences so that it pulls the music files from the Mac side (E:) and doesn't make any changes to the library. It works fine.
Now, my problem is in regards to keeping the library up to date with the Mac side. If I add a song on the Mac side (and yes, I want to use this as the "master" side), I would like it to show up on the Windows side. I read a post on here from a year or so ago that described creating a .bat file that would automatically copy the Mac library files to the windows side, replacing the old library files each time Windows booted. After some reading (don't have a lot of experience with Windows Command Prompt), I was able to write a .bat file that accomplished this.
My problem is that while it updates the files correctly, it resets my iTunes preferences such that iTunes now looks for my music files on the Windows side, and re-checks the boxes re: keeping the music library organized etc. When I manually change the preferences back, it has to update the library (I assume re-connecting all the library pointers to the actual files), but the new songs are there.
Is there a way to keep the iTunes preferences the same so that it doesn't have to re-connect all the files every time, and it just updates with the new stuff? I assume I just don't know enough enough about how iTunes library files work, but I read somewhere that the preferences were kept in \Local Data, and not in the iTunes folder. Thanks in advance.

If both computers are on the same wireless network, it might be most straightforward to just use Home Sharing to copy the music from the Windows PC to the MacBook Pro:
    Understanding Home Sharing
It means having a copy of the content locally on the MBP ... but from a backup perspective, that's not such a bad thing.
