FunkyOverlay Window help

Question

I've been teaching myself, and trying to understand Cocoa (used applescript sucessfully before..trying something new)
I found (and manipulated) some Objective-C code.

I manipulated it to become a simple window that will fade in and out when the mouse drags over it. However I can't drag and move the window. The window is borderless. I've used other code in transparent borderless windows that will let you drag the window around. I've tried to incorperate it into the fade code, but it wont work.
can anyone/developer give me a hand/advive on solving this

A Borderless window does not implement dragging, so you have to do it yourself. I've done this on apps by having a custom NSWindow subclass for my borderless window and overriding the mouseDown: and mouseDragged: methods.
Try adding an NSPoint instance variable to your window subclass called 'lastDragPoint' or something. In your mouseDown: method set lastDragPoint to the position of the mouse onscreen. You can do this with:
lastDragPoint = [self convertBaseToScreen:[theEvent locationInWindow]];
where 'theEvent' is the parameter passed to mouseDown:. In your mouseDragged method, get the new position of you mouse onscreen and compare it to lastDragPoint to find the difference in X and Y co-ords. Adjust your window's origin by the X and Y difference.
This will give you basic drag support, but with a couple of caveats: Your window may drag sluggishly if if is being redrawn on every mouseDragged call. Also if you have a view covering the whole frame of the window (for example an NSImageView that is displaying the window background image) it may be handling the mouseDown: & mouseDragged:, so they don't get called on your window. You can get round this in some situations (inlcuding the NSImageView example I mentioned) by making the view non-enabled in Interface Builder.
