Funmoods has hijacked my Mozilla Start page

I use the Mozilla default start page (about:home). The search engine has changed from Google to Funmoods. I do not have the Funmoods toolbar & Funmoods is not in my installed programs. Funmoods is also not listed as an add-on nor is it showing up in my other search engines. I just want to get rid of it. I've reset my home page to Mozilla default (about:home) - no change. I went into about:config & reset "browser.startup.homepage" and I still have funmoods as the default search. Can anyone figure out where funmoods might be hiding & how I can reset my default search engine to google??

Hi jscher... I went to the link you directed me to & downloaded the add-on
"search reset" & it did the trick!!
Hope I don't mess it up again!
Thanks for your help!

  • How do I make a new tab open to a Mozilla start page?

I can't find out where to make the change so when I open a new tab it opens to a Mozilla start page instead of a blank.
    Thanks

    madperson,
Thanks much. I was somewhat nervous about doing that. I am not very experienced with computers but you instructions were right on.
    Thanks again.

  • Do Search has hijacked my default home page setting

While updating /downloading Java I suspect
I declined all offers for software and eventually stopped the download
Do Search now is the first page that loads when I click on Mozilla
When I press 'home' (top right/address bar) I go to the Mozilla Firefox Start Page
Options/General/Mozilla Start Page is in the little tab window
Control Panel/Internet Options/https://www.mozilla.org/ is in Home Page window
however if I click on 'Use default' switch "do Search' pops back in.
I deleted/blocked the extension in the Mozilla Add-on section
I ran a virus scan and cleaned my computer, restarted however I cannot fix the problem

The target shows the command that is used to launch Firefox and should only have the full path to the Firefox program enclosed in quotes.
    *(64 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"
    *(32 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"
If you see a reference to the do-search website then remove that trailing part.

  • When I enter a search in the Mozilla Start Page and press enter the browser does nothing. It doesn't bring in any search results. I use Windows Vista pack2

I just upgraded Firefox for windows to version 21.0
After upgrading, when I enter a subject to search in the search box (in the middle of the page) of the Mozilla Start page and press enter nothing happens. It doesn't bring in any search results.
The only way to navigate using the browser is to enter the website name in the address box at the top of the page and press enter. I'm running the browser for Windows Vista - 32 bits.
I tried re-installing firefox and I got the same result. I also tried re-booting after installation and it still behaves the same way.
    Please help,
    Thank you,
    Hektor

    he man check here
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
''When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.''
    Thank you.

  • Where is my Mozilla Start page?

on monday i had my Mozilla start page but on tuesday it was there for half of the day then went away. i keep using the start page from Most visited. then when i close out my browser it goes away. when i reopen my browser.. this very annoying.. if i for get to use Most visited, then the start page will go away. please help if you can. i redownloaded fire fox and this did not help

Once you have your preferred start page displayed, you should be able to set that as your home page once again. See [http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/How%20to%20set%20the%20home%20page How to set the home page | How to | Firefox Help]. Does it work?
If it keeps changing when you start up Firefox again, it could indicate that an add-on is changing your home page, or that Firefox is having a problem saving your settings changes.

  • Everytime I start up it goes to the mozilla start page, as if first time started

Everytime I sart firefox it shows the start up page. If I change the home page, when I shut down, then start back up again, it changes to the firefox start page.
I also see a skype page for a little bit

The "<b>MetaStream 3 Plugin r4 </b>" extension has been reported to cause this issue.

  • I have chosen a persona, but when I start up Firefox, Mozilla start page with Google shows, and persona is just barely visible only in the toolbar area. How do I get the persona to show, and not Google start-up page?

I checked out the Mozilla Personas, saw one I liked, and added on. When I start Firefox, the Mozilla start-up page shows as usual with Google on it. The Persona I chose barely shows, and only in the Toolbars area at the top of the screen. Can I modify the start-up page to not show Google, and access Google another way, so that my Persona will show on the whole start-up page?
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == I added-on Persona

As you can see from the [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Using+themes+with+Firefox using themes with Firefox] article, personas are "''lightweight themes that can change the color scheme and background image of the Firefox toolbars''" and they wouldn't change the webpages.
If you don't like seeing Google as your home page you might want to look at [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How+to+set+the+home+page how to set the home page] and change it.
Finally Firefox 3.5.x will be maintained with security and stability updates until August 2010, so you might want to [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Updating+Firefox update to a newer version].

  • My computer was taken over by a bunch of pups I opened, and I removed them, but lost the search bar on my Mozilla start page, how do I retrieve it?

Can't seem to retrieve the search bar that should be located beside the address bar. Tried for several hours, but can't seem to find the right information. I don't want to reset Firefox because I have too many customs set. I used options and put the find symbol, but it wouldn't open, so still need the search bar to fill in specific words for search feature.
I also have a problem with the new tab- before I cleaned all the pups I used to go to mozilla home page and when I clicked on new tab, it always brought up the pages I had recently visited--now I just get a blank page, don't even get the FIrefox logo on the new tab. How do I restore this feature I use Mozilla firefox as my browser, and open that to my earthlink.net start page, something I do not want to lose,

You can try to click the "Restore Defaults" button in the Customize palette.
Make sure that toolbars like the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible.
    *"3-bar" Firefox menu button > Customize > Show/Hide Toolbars
*View > Toolbars<br>Tap the Alt key or press F10 to show the Menu Bar
    *Right-click empty toolbar area
Open the Customize window and set which toolbar items to display.
*"3-bar" Firefox menu button > Customize
*check that "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
*if "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the Customize palette into the Customize window to the Bookmarks Toolbar
*if missing items are in the Customize palette then drag them back from the Customize window on the toolbar
*if you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the Customize palette then click the "Restore Defaults" button to restore the default toolbar setup

  • Mozilla start page is default but will not open until home icon is pushed

The Mozilla Firefox start page is set up as my default page but all I get is a blank page. When I first open Firefox, the start page comes up; but for all new tabs all I get is blank page and on the the tab it says "New Tab" is there some way making all new tabs go to Firefox start page?

A blank page is the default for a New Tab and there is no setting in Firefox to change it to the Homepage.
You can middle-click the Home button to open a new Tab with your Homepage.
Or you can install this extension to change it to your Homepage. <br />

  • What's the difference b/w Google searching from the Mozilla Start Page and the search bar?

    It's not a high-priority question, I just want a general answer.
I read that Google renews the license of Google search bar on the Mozilla Firefox Start Page, and that's from where Mozilla makes 90% of its money, because it's a not-for-profit organisation.
I want to know whether I am giving Google a signal of making use of that license renewal when I search from the Start Page and not from the search bar I have.

hi Abhimanyu, it won't make a difference if you search from the homepage or the search bar - both use the same default search provider.
in addition, mozilla is no longer partnering with google. for details you might want to see https://blog.mozilla.org/blog/2014/11/19/promoting-choice-and-innovation-on-the-web/

  • I need the actual address of the Mozilla start page. It is not the default in my Firefox options.

I am trying to convert to the Mozilla (Firefox) start page for my home page. I cannot follow the instructions given because my default home page in options is Yahoo. (I don't want that.) Can you give me the address of the Start page? I know how to make it my home page after I have navigated there.

Hello mclapp, type in the awesome/location bar '''about:home''' .
and set '''about:home''' in Firefox button > Options > General > Strtup > Home page.
be sure you have also set When Firefox starts > Show my home page
    thank you

  • When I switched computers, I couldn't get to my Mozilla start page & had to create another. I need my old one . Help, please.

I purchased a new computer with Windows 8.1. When I clicked on Mozilla (my default browser), instead of taking me to my Mozilla start screen or giving me a way to sign in, I got a screen wanting me to set up a new account. I did that using the same email address & user ID as my old one, thinking I might be able to access it that way. No luck. So I now have an old account with all my information out in cyberspace somewhere & a newer acct. with almost nothing in it. Is there any way for me to get back into my old account? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
PS For anyone who provided me with assistance several weeks ago on a different issue, I apologize for not responding. I couldn't figure out how to set up my email with 8.1 so I had no way to retrieve or send anything. I still don't so I'm using one of those online sites for the time being. Again...my apologies.

    Hi Talha,
Thanks for the info. It didn't work, though. It took me to a page to sign in to sync Firefox, but not my old start page. When I reset my home page back to the default, it takes me to the new account start page. I can't figure out where my old account went. It shouldn't have disappeared just because I switched computers. If it's still out there somewhere in cyberspace, I should be able to retrieve it, shouldn't I? All my bookmarks, history and downloads were in that account and, if there's any way possible I need to find it.
Any suggestions from anyone would be greatly appreciated (even those that don't work). I'm getting so desperate, I'll even name my first child after you. (:>)
    Thanks,
    Sandi

  • On my mozilla start page, there is a search bar in the middle of the page. It has always been google, but suddenly it is bing. I hate bing! I've been trying to figure out how to change it but it is beyond me.

I downloaded a game from msn games a week or so ago, and I'm thinking that is what brought this about. I deleted the game off my computer, but don't know how to fix this...

If you are talking about the default Firefox 4+ homepage - '''about:home''' - run this code in the Scratchpad to change the '''about:home''' search engine back to Google.
Firefox button > Web Developer -> Scratchpad - <br /> copy and paste this script into Scratchpad > then hit Execute > Run
    <pre> <nowiki>
    javascript:{localStorage["search-engine"]="{\"name\":\"Google\",\"searchUrl\":\"http://www.google.com/search?q=_searchTerms_&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a\"}";void(0);}
    </nowiki> </pre>
