Funny Screen Behaviour N95

Pressing up/left/right will go through different colours and shift the screen either left or right while cycling through them and them the screen goes black and after a while returns.
I have tried re-flashing twice, this problem came up just out of the blue for me, so i re-flashed at it was the same, using latest n95 firmware v30.
No idea what this is, i haven't dropped it in ages, nor has it ever been near water. I previously did a firmware update a few weeks ago and the issue only showed up yesterday.
Any thoughts?

What do you mean re-flash it? You went to a care centre(re-flash the FW), or just format it, or update via NSU. If you did the update by NSU, the latest version have UDP(User's Data Presevation) which also preserve the state of your phone, before the update. Why don't try to reset it to factory by putting this code *#7780# but make a backup first.

  • Local policy for 8.1 Tablet lock screen behaviour

We've just loaded our corporate SOE onto a couple of different Windows tablets. An Acer and a Surface Pro 3. Now by default it seems to activate a default lock screen behaviour of having to hold the windows button and press the power button to unlock the
device. We didn't set this, it seems to kick in automatically. Now the problem is that this works on the Acer and not the SP3. I'd like the lock screen behaviour to revert back to the default, which is to swipe up to unveil the login box. However, I can't
seem to find the local policy or registry setting to do this. Any ideas?

This is not a MDT issue. There is something Group Policy or somewhere else (VPN software). that is forcing Windows to act this way.

  • Strange Screen Behaviour When Scrolling

    Hi,
    anyone seen this before?
When users have scroll down in a panel, some display elements overlap each oher (see the two screenshots). By scrolling up and down a few times they can get their display back to normal.

I also have a very simple screen with just 3 drop downs and 7 radio button which show the same behaviour. Though due to security reasons I cannot post that screen over here. I work on a virtual machine and I do not see this problem happening for me, but our clients work on normal PCs and they see it every time they scroll the screen.
So does that mean that there does not exist any solution for this problem? I cannot move to AIR at this time.

  • Strange screen behaviour/desktop corruption

Has anyone else seen anything like this behaviour on a Mac? Everything was working fine until yesterday when this started when there was a blurring and duplication of the Finder windows and icons on the desktop. That then became an effect which is a bit hard to describe, it was like there was a scattering of different colour minute pixels around the edges of Finder windows and icons on the desktop. Did try changing the desktop pattern and restarting and the problem stopped for a short while but it's now back again, though it doesn't affect the icons on the dock it's especially problematic in applications such as Mail (see one screenshot below). I've attached a couple of screenshots to try and give a better idea of what's going on as it's a little hard to describe!

If anyone has any suggestions they'd be greatly appreciated!

I believe what you see is only a software problem and it's very likely caused by the Skype sofware. Since your screen goes blue for a moment it looks like there's some resolution change happening. Try to change your monitor resolution manually via System Preferences. Does it look the same? You don't need to uninstall directly. First go to Sys Prefs/Accounts and look what startup objects there are. If you see anything that doesn't "belong" there (like Skype) just remove it and do a reboot to find out if the situation has changed.

  • Occurrence of cracked screens in N95

Hi i'm asking around about how many people have experienced their screens cracking...
I have had my N95 for 1 month and 2 days and I went out for dinner and turned of my phone and left in my bag which sat underneath the table (away from walking feet)and when I turned it back on it had a massive crack down it.... it appears that it didn't crack the plastic or front screen.... but looks like a pressure point... it was not dropped, sat on or stood on at anytime during the night...
i took it to the Nokia Care Centre and they say its phyiscal damage.... however my father's friend said that he took his back and was told that it was no fault in this model and that it was under insurance.
Has anyone heard of it being a fault... or has had problems with cracked screens.... if so can I please ask how much it cost to get it fixed?
I'm veyr disappointed in the fact that it takes only the slightest pressure for it crack.. apparently.... and that this was not mentioned to me when i purchased the phoen.
if anyone has any answers or has had the same problem please let me know...
    unhappy camper

I bought a new N95 just before Christmass 08 and was woried that the screen would become scratched or damaged, so I used a soft digital camera case, which I wore on my belt, thinking that it would protect the phone. The case also fitted the phone well and made it easy to access the phone quickley.
It was to my surprise to find that the screen had cracked, though I know that from when I last used it on my daily walk till I noticed the crack(a period of about 20 minutes) no unusual force or any shock had occured to the phone, ie the phone and case did not contact with anything, and I did not even sit or bend down.
I returned to the agent who sold me the phone and they informed me that even though I had only had the phone for just over a month, the warranty does not cover 'physical damage' even with the added protection of the soft case, as I could not prove that it wasn't due to misuse.
The Lithgow agent also informed me that I would have to seek repair elseware as it would be to expensive if they were to organise the screen replacement repair for me.
I am just now seeking to have the phone repaired, as I resorted back to my old phone as I have been away for work. When I get the phone back I will buy or make a hard case that should provide guarenteed protection. Though if the screen cracks again, I'm sure that providing protection to the phone would also be seen as "misuse".

  • Funny iPhone behaviour

I got my phone replaced on Saturday in the Metro centre UK and on Tuesday night it went blank on me, like it had zero charge but I checked it about half an hour earlier with over half the battery left about 45mins to an hour later it decided to come back (on?) again as I was ejecting the sim ready for another phone,I carried on using the phone untill yesterday about 11 ish when it died again so naturally in I ejected the sim to find that it would not turn back on again, and about an hour later I pressed the home button and the screen went white so I pressed the lock button twice and it was back to normal. I have restarted the iPhone and it has not done it yet but it has only been less than one day.
Should I take it back or will restoring it etc make it disappear?
    Thanks in advance, Callum

Perform a hard reset. Hold down the sleep/wake and home buttons at the same time until you see the apple logo (about 20 sec). See if this works.

  • Strange touch screen behaviour

I am having trouble with the touch screen of my iPhone 3G: The bottom row of buttons is not functioning properly when typing a SMS or typing in Safari. When I try to write a new SMS message in the chat view, I can't, because the bottom of the screen is not responding. In Safari I can't hit Google on the bottom row.
I was sure the bottom of the screen is broken. But then I ended up using the calculator and that one is working properly – also the bottom row of buttons!
So the touch screen doesn't seem to be a broken. Does anyone have any ideas...?
    Cheers,
    Antti

Standard troubleshooting steps in order are power your iPhone off and on, an iPhone reset, restoring your iPhone with iTunes from your iPhone's backup, and restoring your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup.
If no change after the 4th and last step, more than likely your iPhone has a hardware problem.

  • Double vision and funny screens

My iMac G5 (2 1/2 yr old) is giving me problems on start up. I press the start button and everything looks fine - wheel appears etc then one of the following things can happens:
    1. the screen goes blue, nothing else on it.
    2. the screen shows strange grey patterns or has blocks on it (like a bad dvd), nothing else.
    3. the screen come to life, everything looks present and correct but it's in bad double vision and nothing works.
    4. the screen comes to like, everything looks ok, I click an application and it freezes.
I have to press the start button off and on again to get it going!
I work in the publishing business so took the iMAC into our MAC boffins in work but of course, everything worked fine for them.
Took it home and bang...same old, same old.
Am reaching the end of my teather. Any advice? (and I'm no computer boffin so plain English would be much appreciated.)

You might take a look and see if your machine fits the criteria of Apple's

  • Odd iPhone 6 Home screen behaviour

I've just got a new iPhone 6. I noticed this odd Home screen. The whole thing has slipped down 2 rows. I found I could repeat this fairly consistently by lightly stroking down the home button. It takes a few attempts but it works eventually. I'm on iOS 8.2. Swiping left (& right) shows the other screens in the same slipped-down manner. Swiping up on the screen puts it back to normal. Any one have any idea what's going on?

It's a feature called Reachability. It brings the home screens down a bit to make it easier to operate the bigger phones with one hand.  You activate it by double-tapping (not pressing) the home button. You can turn it off if you don't want it by going to Settings-General-Accessibility.

Try booting the Recovery Partition.  Power off, boot and then hold down the Command and R keys.  Is the screen still black?  If so it is not a software problem so take it in for diagnosis and repairs.  Make a Genius Bar reservation http://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/ or find an Apple Authorized Service Provider https://locate.apple.com/country .
If you are running Mavericks try upgrading to 10.9.2.  It has a fix for black screen problems.

  • [SOLVED] gnome-screensaver bug? unintended lock screen behaviour

Everytime I close my laptop lid, the screen locks. I am fine with this EXCEPT when I am using two screens. I watch movies with my laptop and I like to close the lid because it blocks my reciever from getting the signal from my remote to change the volume. With gnome 3.4, I have not been able to do this unless I disable lock screen completely.
    [conner@arch-laptop ~]$ gsettings list-recursively org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power
    org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power active true

    org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power time-action 120
    org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power time-critical 300
As you can see in the middle of this code block that closing the lid is supposed to do nothing but that is not the case. What I want is for the screen to lock when I close my laptop lid only if there is one screen or not at all. I could disable the lock screen completely through gsettings but that is not what I want either. Any help would be much appreciated and no I do not want to use xscreensaver

bump. any ideas. has this bug already been reported?
Edit: Found a way to fix this. Go into brightness and screen, then change lock off when screen turns blank. So basically, changing laptop lid close in gnome tweak tool or in gsettings to nothing doesn't matter since in the brightness and lock, the setting is to lock screen whenever it is turned off and obviously the screen is turned off since closing the lid does on just about every laptop. Marking as solved.

  • Strange screen behaviour on new imac

Have had the new imac for a couple of weeks now and all of a sudden the display has started behaving very strangely. Intermittently it is distorting - jagged lines and graphics screwed. Screen capture is linked here:
    http://www.malw.co.uk/photos/screencap.jpg
    Hope someone can help! Thanks.

I was hoping I wouldn't have to do that. I've been on the phone for two hours to Applecare who have tried reinstalling OSX (archive mode?), PRAM reset etc. The computer is fine though in safe mode, which leads me to believe the problem might be software based? Their solution now is a complete reinstall so basically I have to spend not only time reinstalling but getting everything back in order - I have an 80gb itunes library and 20gb of photos for starters, plus a load of software I've installed. Anyway, before I have to take that rather drastic route, hopefully someone might come up with something I haven't tried yet.

  • Weird web pages and funny screen

    Hi there!
I dunno if it happens to me, but sometimes when i go to particular webpages.I get some weird display(banner) stuck onto my desktop which came from the website. The only way to get rid of it is to restart. It seems like it's part of the display itself.
    Does anyone no about it?
I would post an example but i don't know how

could you post some links to the particular websites that cause these display problems?

  • A part of DEVELOP screen at DESKTOP

    This is a problem on Lightroom v4.4 under Windows7 64bit :
Please refer the attached image which is a screen shot of Windows7 Desktop after normal close of Lightroom v4.4. The part of DEVELOP screen is remaining. It will be lost by starting and closing of other applications.
This funny screen has been occurred since the installation of Lightroom 4.4, and every time happened after the normal closing of Lightroom.
My PC made as Dual boot system, Windows7 64bit and WindowsXP 32bit. This funny screen has been appeared only using Lightroom4.4 and windows7. Never happened in case of other applications such as canon DPP, Nikon viewNX, Photoshop Elments and all others.
So, I tried to take some actions to resolve this matter.
    1) Reinstall the Lightroom from the begging instead of upgrading from the previous version.
    2) To keep the latest update files for windows7.
    3) Submit clean installation of the Graphic card Driver(NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT base).
    4) Separate/Exchange 4 Memory cards such as GEIL's 2GBx2 and 1GBx2 (same spec/Grade).
    5) Some changing of cashe size in the environment setting.
Unfortunately the funny situation has never improved even now.
I would expect, anyone who has experienced a development of rendering software for Graphic/photo applications can advice from essential view points.
Does anyone has any advise for this matter?
    Thanks,

Both the Yahoo! Toolbar extension and the Babylon extension have been reported to cause an issue like that. Disable or uninstall those add-ons.

  • Directory structure support and sluggish touch screen

I bought a Zen X Fi2. My expectations were high since I already had a creative some years ago. (I was quite pleased with the performance and sound quality etc)
However I am a bit dissapointed with Zen XFi2- The touch screen is not very successful. The scroll function does not work at a satisfactory level and sometimes (when I want to scroll), it makes a "selection" rather than "scrolling".
Also it does not support browsing with directory structure. For those people (like me) who are quite used to drag and drop type of copying for mp3 files, it is really a pain to re arrange all the songs for ID3 tag information.
I believe these two issues are software issues and can be improved by new firmware upgrade.
I also want to take this opportunity to tell that the software (interface software) that comes with the device is totally crap- I have never seen a software that tries to control the user rather than the user controlling the software. An ideal interface software for such a device should be the one which allows user to choose the songs from any directory, drag and drop into the device.
I was going to return my Zen however after playing around for a few days, I somewhat get used to its sluggish touch screen behaviour and accepted ID3 tag browsing (which still gives me a lot of problem) so right now I am gonna keep it.
May be software developpers can work on touch screen improvement, adding the support for directory structure browsing (as well as ID3 tag browser) and work on interface software a bit more ?
    Thanks
    Best Regards

This is indeed interesting because when you say "I don't have the problems you mentioned" I believe you also refer to the sensitivity of the touch screen. This makes me ask the question if my item has some problems. Since I do not have any means of cross checking this (apparently there is no other Zen XFi2 around me) may be I should ask you this question: "When you want to browse among albums for example, you wipe your finger across the screen so the screen rolls down; can you have it fluently like in an IPOD touch?- or does it not recognize immediately and you have to do it again sometimes?"
As for the volume button- I do indeed agree. For devices like this one; having physical buttons for at least volume, mute, stop/pause is a "must"! Choosing, browsing or starting a song is not a big deal however muting, stopping or changing the volume may be needed instantly from time to time. It is very unpractical to browse for volume, find it and adjust it!
Also may I add that for such a nice device, there should be a remote control on the headphone/earphone cable and should employ at least stop/play/mute/volume/forward/reverse buttons. I mean think about it for a while- why would you want to take use this device- apparently not to watch movies at home! You take it with you and listen to music, while cycling, jogging, skiing, roller blading etc. It is so difficult taking out the device from your pocket, browsing for volume button and turning up and down the volume (while cycling for example!) or skipping to next song with one touch!
    Cheers
