Further to Reinstalling 10.2.3 and 10.2.8 (below)...

Question

I've just noticed on my OS9 desktop screen that the OS X disk icon is not appearing. I discovered this when I tried to set the OS X disk as the startup disk!
(The OS X disk is actually a partition on my main hard-drive which has two other partitions: "OS9" and "Data". Both these icons appear on the OS9 desktop).
When I reinstalled OSX (see my earlier message) I targetted the OSX "disk", and examination of it after 10.2.3 was installed, showed the new and "Previous System" folders. So all seemed correct.
What would cause OSX disk icon to disappear after the updates were installed?_____ More importantly, how do I get it back??!!!

Try booting from your install disk; when you get to the first part of the install (in Panther it's where you select the language you want to use, I'm not sure about Jaguar), go to the Install menu at the top of the screen and select "Launch Disk Utility" (it might be Disk Repair under Jaguar; again, I'm not sure).
Use the utility to repair your OSX partition, and then use it to repair permissions.
