Further to requiring more than 3Gig of Memory

I thought users would find this interesting and maybe a person familiar canshed some light on this subject.
I have a 20 minute video with a combo of Pictures/ Sony HDV Video/ Shake and Motion. Producing an IDVD movie works fine however when I try to compress it to "H.264 60 minute default" there is FCP crashing and the compression terminates. In watching the RAM usage I notice a couple of things. First the Page outs are Zero until suddenly after about 6000-8000 frames the page outs grow rapidly and the Green RAM indicator shrink from 2 gigs free to virtually 30-60 megs and the page outs grow to the hunders of thousands. Sometime after this happens the FCP application will crash. Second, I have also noticed that the Compressord shows up from the time I start the process and shows red..."not responding". The Final Cut thread also moves in and out from Not responding. It almost appears as though the Compression processes faster than the computer can handle and then gives up. I Realize I require more than 3 Gigs of Ram but my previous IMAC never crashed doing a similar priocess with 2 Gig or Ram.
MAC PRO   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   FCP 5.1.4
MAC PRO   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

FCP RAM requirements, and for that matter, those of "Pro" apps, far exceed the memory needed for the likes of iMovie. All of the iLife apps are written in a way as to work across the board on Apples product line. The Pro apps are engineered to operate like they should...... capable of using a ton of memory, and expecting it. When they don't get it, they resort to paging to the hard drive. You may be able to "cripple" FCP by lowering the memory usage in Preferences, but why would you use a program with all that horsepower, and not feed it the memory it needs? If it works in iMovie, I would use it until you can add the appropriate amount of RAM the article hatter posted suggests. Just my two cents....

  • Setting up inspection point in a scenario require more than one inspection

    Hi all,
    Maybe I am still not very clear on the PP-QM conceptu2026 hope you can see my problem on the following questionu2026..
    According to SAP in the QM-production environment, we key in ONE inspection point in the task list header level (i.e. either the master recipe, routing, or rate of routing).
    Based on the following business scenario which is going to use inspection point for the inspection:
    u2022     Time-based intervals (for example, an inspection point every hour or for each work shift)
    u2022     Quantity-based intervals (for example, an inspection point for each container)
    u2022     Freely-defined intervals (for example, an inspection point each time a tool change occurs)
    Since each of the above scenarios require more than one inspection points to be created and to be assigned to the task list header.
    Thus, how to accomplish multiple inspection point assignment when the task-list header only allow me to assign one inspection point at a time?
    Thanks
    YY

    Hi guys,
    Thanks. However, in the SAP help portal it does said the system allows several inspection points to be assigned to an inspection operation whether it is in routing or recipe.
    Therefore, does it means I can assign more than one inspection points in the operation detail level for either recipe or routing if I will to click the u201CNo relationu201D radio button in the u201CQuality Management: Inspection Pointu201D section. (i.e. is this is the right place to allows this assignment)?
    For example, on the change master recipe screen at the Operation tab, I highlight one line item (i.e. one operation line item and zoom into this operation line item, I donu2019t see any field box that allow me to assign several inspection points to an operation? Instead, on the u201CQuality Management: Inspection Pointu201D section, there are the following fields appear:
    - Insp.pointCompletion dropdown box
    - 4 radio buttons on the inspection interval (ie. Time-related, Qty-related, No-relation) and its subseq time and quantity value input box.
    - Quan.pt. lot checkbox
    - Last Part Lot Assgmt checkbox
    Thus, where is the section in the operation overview screen at Master Recipe or Routing level that I can assign several inspection points?
    Thanks

  • It is possible to expand more than 8gb on memory ram?

    hi i have a question it is possible to expand more than 8gb on memory ram in the macbook pro 15 inch??

    No you do not lose your Apple warranty.  However the RAM is not covered, so buy RAM from a vendor who offers a lifetime warranty.
    Ciao.

  • Require more than 10 addtional fields in CAC2 for display in CAt2

    Hi ,
    We have a requirement to have more than 10 additional fields in CAC2 , SAP provides only 10 additional field.
    Anyone has an idea how to do it.
    Thanks
    Ira

    Hi Ira,
    We can add the custom fields to the CAT2 screen through the following way.
    1. We need to take abapers help in adding z-fields in the CATSDB table.
    2.For mapping those zfields to the CAT2 screen, we need to make changes in a table thru spro path mentioned below:-
    spro->Cross Application Components ->Time Sheet ->Setting for All user interfaces ->Customer Specific Modifications ->Create Customer Fields -> Make field assignment.
    3.In this table, the text to be reflected in the CAT2 screen is to be written in the short text column against the z-fields which are been already added in CATDB table.
    Hope this may help you achieve your requirement.
    Thanks,
    VMR

  • ORA-06505: PL/SQL: variable requires more than 32767 bytes of contiguous memory

    Environment:
    Windows 2000 Server
    ASP
    IIS 5.0
    Oracle 8.1.7
    When calling a stored procedure like the following:
    PROCEDURE MyProc(p1 IN VARCHAR2, p2 OUT VARCHAR2)
    with the Oracle OLEDB driver if the parameter length for parameter p2 is greater than 32767, this error will be returned. In the ASP code I call
    myConn.Close
    Set myConn = Nothing
    If I change the ASP to set the parameter length p2 to something smaller, like 500 and run the code again, Oracle raises the same error even though I know that this code will work. It seems that Oracle or IIS or something is not releasing the reference to the initial call to the stored procedure. Does this have something to do with Microsofts resource or connection pooling? Is it possible to programmatically clear this error in the ASP page in me environment? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Following is the ASP code that calls the stored procedure. I've removed the error handling code for readablity:
    <%@ LANGUAGE="VBSCRIPT" %>
    <%
    Dim theConn, theCmd, Prm1, Prm2, inStr
    Set theCmd = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Command")
    Set theConn = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
    Set Prm1 = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Parameter")
    Set Prm2 = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Parameter")
    theConn.ConnectionString = "Provider=OraOLEDB.Oracle;" & _
    "Data Source=theSource;" & _
    "Password=thePwd;" & _
    "User ID=theID;"
    theConn.Open
    Set theCmd.ActiveConnection = theConn
    theCmd.CommandText = "begin MyProc(?,?); end;"
    inStr = Request.Form("txtFieldName")
    Set Prm1 = theCmd.CreateParameter("IN_STR", 8, 1, Len(inStr), inStr)
    theCmd.Parameters.Append Prm1
    Set Prm2 = theCmd.CreateParameter("OUT_STR", 8, 2, 500) <-- << Failure >>
    theCmd.Parameters.Append Prm2
    theCmd.Execute
    Response.Write ("<br>" & theCmd.Parameters("OUT_STR"))
    If (theConn.State = adStateOpen) Then
    theConn.Close
    End If
    Set theCmd = Nothing
    Set theConn = Nothing
    Set Prm1 = Nothing
    Set Prm2 = Nothing
    %>
    If i run this with Prm2 length = 500 (Line << FAILURE >>) it runs fine. When I set it to 40000, the Ora-06505 error is raised, which is good cause that's what you'd expect. BUT, when I change it back to 500, it still fails. Somehow, something keeps a reference on the illegally binded stored procedure or something. If I reboot, it works again. Is it possible to clear this error after it occurs so that the next execution of the ASP will work properly if it is within limits?
    Any advice would be most helpful. Thanks in advance...

    You should use CLOB type instead of VARCHAR2.

  • Fpga PID require more than 16 bits for data type

    Hi,
    So i am using Fpga PID block for a control task taht needs to be run at 1000hz. The problem I am having is that the FPGA PID block only accepts data types of 16bit length. This does not give me the range and accuracy that i require for the task. At a minimum i feel i would need 32 bits.
    Is there some way to achieve this; maybe dynamic scaling? custom blocks, some other operation? or a completely different control alternative?
    Any suggestions would be most welcome.

    In practice i know it matters a lot.  if you have a low value of an integrator and a high loop rate, then the integration accumulator never grows unless it has enough bits of resolution.  maybe this has not occured for you but it has happened with real use cases for me.
    I know this because i use closed loop control all the time.  if your suggestions revolve around "you can scale it so it doesn't matter" i would suggest that using the appropriate PID algorithm is even easier to do than figuring out how to use a poor algorithm.
    nathand wrote:
    The input to the FPGA PID is a 16-bit fixed-point value. You can represent 20.5 exactly in fixed point. I don't remember the exact format (number of integer bits) of the PID input and don't have the FPGA toolkit on this computer, but you can scale as necessary to make the input range match the fixed-point range.
    The coefficient (I assume you mean integral gain) has no bearing on whether or not it integrates, because the integration is done prior to multiplication by the gain. I understand your concern about the minimum you can integrate but I think in practice it turns out not to matter, if your input and output have the same precision (for example both 16-bit). You can pick your scaling and gains such that you need several counts of integrated error to get a one-count change in output if that's what you want.

  • Does EchoSign have a solution for forms that require more than 1 signature?

    We have a form that requires the employee to sign and the supervisor.  The employee and the supervisor are often at 2 different locations.  We want to use formscentral for the form.  We would like the form to go to the supervisor for their signature before it comes to our department.  Does echosign have a solution for form and signature process flow?

    If you are sending a document to be signed by multiple signers you will want to define the Role for the various fields. The Role is who is allowed  to interact with that field. By default the signers will sign in the order that their email addresses were entered into the To: field. It is important to keep this workflow in mind when setting up the signature fields.
    When a signature field is placed you can set the Role for that field (who can click to sign). Right click on the signature field for the 1st signer and select edit. This will open a window where you can define the options for that field. Select the 1st signers email address in the drop down list for the Role: field.
    Repeat this step to associate all the other signature fields for the other signers.
    Please watch this short tutorial video to see how to author a multi-signer document:

  • Windows 2008 not allocating more than 8GB of memory to all processes

    Hi,
    We have a web server with windows 2008 R2 on Amazon-EC2. Recently we have upgraded our server from one instance type to a higher one. New one has around 68GB of memory. How ever overall allocation of memory is not going above 8GB.
    When I looked at w3wp in process explorer, I have observed "\KernelObjects\MaximumCommitCondition" and "KernelObjects\LowMemoryCondition" kernel events. I could not understand the reason for "low memory" events in spite
    of the 60GB of available memory.
    At any point of time %committedBytesInUse counter is showing only 5%.
    Can someone help me in making me understand on what is going wrong here?

  • Why tableswitch requires more than constant-time?

    http://jroller.com/page/allex?entry=why_tableswitch_requires_more_than
    Everyone knows that there is effective implementation of switch like this:
    public void switching( int l )
    switch( l )
    case 0: m0(); break;
    case 1: m1(); break;
    case 2: m2(); break;
    case 3: m3(); break;
    case 4: m4(); break;
    case 5: m5(); break;
    }using indexing in array of offsets. So, switch is better that such ifs:
    if( l == 0 ) m0(); else
    if( l == 1 ) m1(); else
    if( l == 2 ) m2(); else
    if( l == 3 ) m3(); else
    if( l == 4 ) m4(); else
    if( l == 5 ) m5(); elseI'm testing JVM performance and found that such switch requires linear instead of constant time!
    Server JVM executes switch exactly the same time as ifs. Client JVM executes switch x1.5 faster,
    but execution time depends of a number of cases.
    If you're interested, look at my test - I'm wrong or it's really JVM issue?
    http://jroller.com/resources/a/allex/SwitchTest.java
    http://jroller.com/resources/a/allex/SwitchTest.class - precompiled
    http://jroller.com/resources/a/allex/SwitchTest.jad - decompiled with Jasper to be sure tableswitch is used. It is.
    I've tried Sun JDK 1.4.2_10 and 1.5.0_06 32-bit on Windows XP x64 AMD Athlon 3800+ 64 x2.

    Yes, this is a JVM issue, but it wasn't addressed until recently.
    In the Mustang release, the server compiler will generate code for
    constant-time execution of switch statements that are of sufficient
    size and density. (Offhand, I think at least 16 cases are needed.)
    If the switch is not large or dense enough, decision-tree style
    code is generated.
    You should try a recent Mustang release; I think you will be pleased.
    In 5.0, a prototype of this contstant-time code was released on Sparc
    only.
    On all other 5.0 platforms, and in 1.4.2 and earlier, a decision-tree was
    always produced for switch statements.
    Mustang client compiler code for switches has not changed.

  • IPhone Activation required more than once...

    I've had my iPhone 3G for about a month now and in that time i have had to activate it three times. After i switch the phone on, it comes up with the itunes plug in display. The phone states no service and i can only make emergency calls. I plug in to my iTunes and it activates it right away... fortunately i have been close to my computer each time to do this, but if i'm away and this happens, it could cause me real problems... anyone else had the same problem and is there a way to cure it?

    It is not a defective phone, and a restore will NOT help the situation. I've had this problem, as has my roommate, along with countless other people, including some of the folks that work at my local Apple store. I've reported it to Apple tech support and they've pretty much thumbed their nose at me about it.
    Call A.T.T. and Apple to arrange to get a replacement sim card to see if that might help. I need to get that done too. Other than that.. Keep calling tech support and stay on them about this. They suggested to me that I am the only person to have ever called them about this issue. There is no way that is true. This forum, along with a google search, along with the two phones in my own household proves that is not true.

  • Says disc requires more than one cd to complete?

    I'm burning a cd from itunes, and it says it will need two discs, but I'm burning 110 mb, and the disc can hold 700mb? I want it on one cd, so what should I do?

    Can you go to the the iTunes Edit menu > Preferences > Advanced tab > Burning sub-tab and check the Disc Format selection.
    If it's an Audio CD, it's the length of time - not the size of the files - that determines how much music can be burned to a disc: approximately 70 minutes.

  • FRM-40734 when calling a foreign function requiring more than 1 dll

    I have been experiencing difficulties in calling external DLL functions from SECURSIGN.DLL. This time no peculiar type of parameter is involved, just four varchar2.
    A dump file "ifrun60_dump_nnn" is generated by FORMS every time I issue the aborted call to the foreign function.
    Inside the form dump file, apart from useless info like Registers and so on, the message: "Could not find Module32First"
    I know for sure that SECURSIGN.DLL needs also other DLLs, and that the first foreign function I call, calls other functions in other DLLs. I found that Module32First is a routine within each of the following DLLs:
    Cl32
    d2kwut32
    d2kwut60
    I copied all those DLLs in the current work directory along with my FMB/FMX, in ORANT\BIN, in C:\WINNT\SYSTEM.
    I modified the PROCEDURE LoadLibrary (part of the FFI-generated PLL code) to load those DLLs along with SECURSIGN.DLL: no problem in loading all the DLLs that I wish, but the error persists.
    How can I avoid all that mess and the FRM-40734 error?? Is there a specific problem in resolving the references to other DLLs?
    Please notice that - on the same computer - in Visual Basic everything (and the very same call in particular) works perfectly.

    I have noticed just now that a dump file having a name like ifrun60_dump_299, is generated by FORMS every time I issue the aborted call to the foreign function.
    Inside the form dump file, apart from useless info like Registers and so on, the message:
    "Could not find Module32First"
    By a FILE/FIND/CONTAINING TEXT I searched all the DLLs, and I noticed that Module32First is a routine that can be found within each of the following DLLs:
    Cl32
    d2kwut32
    d2kwut60
    I tried to load those DLLs along with SECURSIGN.DLL by modifying the PROCEDURE LoadLibrary into the FFI-generated PLL code, and I have apparently no problem in loading all the DLLs that I wish, but the error persists, and that dump file is constantly generated, always looking for the "Module32First" routine.
    How can I avoid all that mess and the FRM-40734 error??

    Hi all,
    long time no speak
    Question:
    Will the new Intel "Conroe" chip in the upcoming Mac towers support more than 4 gig of RAM?
    I score Orchestral and since the new VSL library is completely 24bit i need to at least be able to adress 8 gig of RAM (16 gig would be better
    To APPLE: Guys please be aware that us Pro Users were always eager to adress those 8 gig of RAM in our G5s, but were dissapointed in the fact that Logic FCP etc, were never turned into 64 bit apps.....so adressing 4 gig was it for us........
    I guess another way to ask the same question would be whether "Conroe" is 64 bit, as that is what is required to adress more than 4 gig of RAM.....
    thanx,

    Will the new Intel "Conroe" chip in the upcoming Mac

    From what I've read Conroe will be 64-bit. A google search of "64-bit conroe" will give you a few sources and more info.

    It doesn't need to be a 64-bit application. It just needs to have 64-bit memory addressing. Here is a good article if you're interested.
    http://developer.apple.com/business/macmarket/mathematica.html
    I don't have any experince with VSL, but I did have a quick experience with Kontakt 2 (I sold it). The Kontakt 2 forum has a post from the moderator that explains some issues around Kontakt's memory issues.
    http://www.nativeinstruments.de/forum_us/showthread.php?t=31572
    "furthermore, even Kontakt 2 and related products will not get 64 bit support any time soon since this would require a complete rewrite of the engine - this is the last thing we want at this point! products based on Kontakt 2 are Akoustik Piano and Bandstand."
    The complete rewrite of the audio engine might be the general issue with utilizing more than 4Gb of memory. But, I am not sure...I think there is another issue with how the OS handles memory usage.

  • Creating Pages in PeopleSoft with more than one HTML Form

    Hi,
    We've a requirement to create a page in PIA with more than one HTML form.
    As per PBooks - "The page being developed cannot be built using PeopleSoft Application Designer.
    An example of this is a page that requires more than one HTML form.
    PeopleSoft Pure Internet Architecture places the entire page inside of a single form tag, so no other HTML form tags can be added.
    In this case the requirements of the page can't be met by pages created in PeopleSoft Application Designer, so use IScripts instead."
    If someone can share his/her experience, It Would be of great help to me.
    -Thanks!!

    Take a look at my IScript postings. Let me know if you still have questions after reading these blog posts.
