Fusesmb always connect timed out

Hi All:
   I come across a problem which confused me for days.
   I just install the fusesmb to share the file with window.
   I followed the instructions at this website http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=300310, but didn't success.
   I can only see the directory but can't open it.
   I try to debug fusesmb which gives the error information "unique: 115, error: -110 (connection timed out), outsize: 16". If I use smbclient, everything is OK.
   I write "user_allow_other" in /etc/fuse.conf, and use "fusesmb /media/network -o debug, umask=0,allow_other"
   Does any one have the same problem with me ?
   Any suggestion appreciated.

  • Samba and fusesmb: "connection timed out" error

    Hello to everyone!
    I'm facing a weird problem here: since a couple of days I cannot use fusesmb anymore: I can still "see" the SMB network shares that are present on my LAN, but as soon as I try to enter one of those I get a "connection timed out" error.
    First of all I tried to reinstall fusesmb, to no avail. Then I tried to use smbclient directly:
    [tudhalyas@paranor ~]$ smbclient -L <my_windows_box_IP>
    This command correctly shows the list of shares that are present on my winXP box, and
    [tudhalyas@paranor ~]$ smbclient \\\\<my_windows_box_IP>\\SharedDocs
    creating lame upcase table
    creating lame lowcase table
    Enter tudhalyas's password:
    Domain=[WINBOX] OS=[Windows 5.1] Server=[Windows 2000 LAN Manager]
    smb: \>
    allows me to go into the "Shared Docs" folder of the said computer. From here I can flawlessly download files from the share.
    Reading this thread I thought that samba 3.5.1 could be the culprit, and so I compiled samba 3.4.7 through ABS and then installed it. Sadly, fusesmb still doesn't work. I even tried to use smbnetfs, but again to no avail.
    Does anyone of you know what I could do to address this issue? Thanks in advance!

    bump... can anybody help me please?

    BIPCatalogUtil extraction always fails with "Connection timed out".
    Any suggestions on what could be the issue?

    One thought was that perhaps it was timing out going out some unused port (e.g., the Airport port), but a list shows only the Ethernet port is enabled:
    admin$ sudo networksetup -listallnetworkservices

  • When starting the Add-on: Connection timed out issue

    When starting the Add-on: Connection timed out issue
    Hi,
    We have a client in SAP 2005 PL 44.
    I built the add-on for them using simple installer wizard ( I tried advanced set-up also).
    When starting the add-on, I get the message 'Connection Timed Out'.
    Add-on status is failed.
    But the add-on is actually connected. i.e, The functionality associated with the add-on is working fine.
    I had SAP 2007 before and un/reinstalled SAP 2005 in order to connect with this client.
    I had built the same add-on in a similar way for the same client for lot many times in the past, but I never got this issue.
    I tried the following:
    1) Delete SM_OBS_DLL and un/reinstall DI API
    2) un/reinstall B1DE
    Always I'm getting this error.
    Please let me know your inputs.
    Thanks.

  • I am having alot of problems with itunes, including a "connection timed out" error CONSTANTLY. Any suggestions?

    My iTunes has always been a huge pain no matter what ive done. It runs slowly in general, freezes up every now and then, and when trying to restore my iPod touch 4g, i need to download a software update, which is impossible, due to the fact that every time i try i get a "Network connection timed out" message. I have also had the issue of my account locking me out twice now in a very short period of time, and i have no idea why. It says for security reasons, but ive changed passwords and everything.
    I would like to know if an update is comming soon to make things smoother, because ive long since lost patience with iTunes.

    If you are getting a network timeout error when downloading an iOS update then try temporarily turning off all your firewall and antivirus software until the download has completed.
    In terms of whether an update is coming, we are just fellow users on here so we won't know when the next update might be, and what might or might not be in it.

  • "network connection timed out"-can't update upgrade on ipod

    Last year an ipod touch 8GB was given to me and I am just now updating everything. When I plug my ipod into my computer and open itunes, it prompts me to download and install 3.1.3 upgrade. So I hit "download and install" and right after it gets done downloading (takes 7 min), an error message pops up and says "network connection timed out"- could not install the upgrade, try again later. I have paid the 5 bucks for the upgrade and tried it about 10 times now with the same results everytime.
    I have tried turning off my router and restarting that and also reset my network connections on the actual ipod itself with re-typing in my network name and password for the wifi. My wireless connection is strong and never goes out on me, as well as my ipod always recognizes it and connects automatically so I'm not sure why I keep getting this error message!
    HELP!!! thx

    I ran into the issue this week. said yes to upgrade, ipod was backed up, and then upgrade died. ipod touch itself indicated it was no longer aware. power down did not help, itunes could not restore to previous. Looking on apple site, I was getting a code 14 error. solution was to update itunes to 9.03, restart system and then retry the download. it worked after that, and the backup did restore all my info including kindle books etc.

  • Reissue:  Connection Timed Out and Airport Admin Utility Issues

    I put this post last November, but no one seemed to have a solution to it, so I thought I would try again...
    Our lab has and Airport Extreme (802.11g). Intermittently (once a week to a couple of times a day) our airport extreme will stop allowing new connections. Here's what appears to happen. The airport still appears in the the list of networks in the airport icon in the menu bar (ie it still broadcasts SSID), but when I try to connect it whirls for a while and then says connection timed out. If I go to the Airport Admin Utility the base station doesn't appear there even though all of the rest of the ones on our network do (I should at this point, mention that we have both ethernet and WiFi layers on our network--the base station operates as an access point in bridge mode). The only solution is to power cycle the base station. A couple of extra tidbits.
    * Base station firmware is current at version 5.7.
    * We never have more than about 8 users connected to the base station.
    * This inability to connect is independent of what computer is trying to connect and even occurs with iPod touches.
    * This problem has occurred for a couple of years (multiple firmware versions).
    * I also have similar problems on a network at home that has the new Airport express/extreme N arrangement on a cable internet connection.
    * Sometimes this seems to fix itself after 30 minutes or so of just ignoring it. Other times it does not.
    * The restoration of the ability of the airport to accept connections after the power cycle is always immediate.
    * We only have 6-10 connections, less than the max supported.
    * The Airport usually continues to work for those computers that are connected to it before it stops allowing connections.
    So couple of questions:
    1) Do other people see this problem?
    2) Is this some problem with the WAN network connection impairing the ability of the base station to establish WiFi connection that eventually resets itself after something times our or resets?
    3) Any suggestions as to what to do about it?

    Two reasons I don't think that this is likely the issue. Both are based on my assumptions about how noise would affect the working of a WAP. If these assumptions are erroneous, please let me know.
    The first is that I have tried both automatic channel selection and manual channel assignment based on an unused channel that was several channels away from other WAPs. Kind of circumstantial since other devices can emit noise in the same region of the spectrum (our phones are 5.8GHz and the microwave is no where near the base station.
    The second though, is that I can stand literally a foot away from the base station with my notebook or iPod touch and still have the same problem. It would seem the the noise would have to be enormous to interfere with a device that close the the base station. Also, why would the other connected devices continue to work?
    In the interest of providing a complete picture, I would say I have thought quite a lot about whether noise is a problem. This base station is installed in a lab, with lots of electrical equipment whirring away and to make matters worse, the base station itself needed to be installed right next to (Within inches) a circuit breaker box. I winced when I did this.
    Interestingly, the thing normally does work and the signal strength & signal to noise (reported by airport utility) and transfer rates are quite good when you can connect.
    Thanks,
    Michael

    Yes, I have the exact same problem.
    It's intriguing because I share the connection with my landlord who is often away. The base station is connected in his suite and we seem to never have any problem when only my wife and I are connected on it. I use a iMac 21.5" and my wife a 13" White MacBook (5.2). When he is home (about 1 week per month), that's when the connection will randomly disconnect exactly as you described. He uses a iMac 24" and occasionally an old iBook.

  • Can't download software updates in iTunes - error message "network connection timed out"

    I'm unable to download software updates for my iTouch 4.1 in iTunes.  I have iTunes version 10.5, Windows 7.  i've tried numerous times in the past and always get the same error message.  I'm now experiencing problems with some of my apps. and I've attempted 4 times in the past 2 days to upload version 5.0. It goes thru the whole download (761.61 MB), says "processing file", then closes out and I get the following message:
    "There was a problem downloading the software for the iPod "xxxxx's iPod". The network connection timed out. Make sure your network settings are current and your network connection is active or try again later. Err = .3529."
    I ran diagnostics and it said everything was fine.
    Also not all the apps. on my iTouch are in my iTunes library even though I've synced my iTouch numerous times since I've purchased the apps. with my iTouch.  All the apps on my 2nd screen are on iTunes, but none of the apps. on my 3rd screen of my iTouch are in iTunes.

  • Chat System: ConnectException: Connection timed out: connect

    Hi There,
    I am developing a chat system as part of a University project.
    To explain what I have implemented:
    I have three java classes;
    1. Chat Server class which is constantly listening for incoming socket connection on a particular socket:
    while (true)
    Socket client = server.accept ();
    System.out.println ("Accepted from " + client.getInetAddress ());
    ChatHandler c = new ChatHandler (client);
    c.start ();
    2. Chat Handler class uses a thread for each client to handle multiple clients:
    public ChatHandler (Socket s) throws IOException
    this.s = s;
    i = new DataInputStream (new BufferedInputStream (s.getInputStream ()));
    o = new DataOutputStream (new BufferedOutputStream (s.getOutputStream ()));
    public void run ()
    try
    handlers.addElement (this);
    while (true)
    String msg = i.readUTF ();
    broadcast (msg);
    catch (IOException ex)
    ex.printStackTrace ();
    finally
    handlers.removeElement (this);
    try
    s.close ();
    catch (IOException ex)
    ex.printStackTrace();
    protected static void broadcast (String message)
    synchronized (handlers)
    Enumeration e = handlers.elements ();
    while (e.hasMoreElements ())
    ChatHandler c = (ChatHandler) e.nextElement ();
    try
    synchronized (c.o)
    c.o.writeUTF (message);
    c.o.flush ();
    catch (IOException ex)
    c.stop ();
    3. Chat Client class which has a simple GUI and sends messages to the server to be broadcasted to all other clients on the same socket port:
    public ChatClient (String title, InputStream i, OutputStream o)
    super (title);
    this.i = new DataInputStream (new BufferedInputStream (i));
    this.o = new DataOutputStream (new BufferedOutputStream (o));
    setLayout (new BorderLayout ());
    add ("Center", output = new TextArea ());
    output.setEditable (false);
    add ("South", input = new TextField ());
    pack ();
    show ();
    input.requestFocus ();
    listener = new Thread (this);
    listener.start ();
    public void run ()
    try
    while (true)
    String line = i.readUTF ();
    output.appendText (line + "\n");
    catch (IOException ex)
    ex.printStackTrace ();
    finally
    listener = null;
    input.hide ();
    validate ();
    try
    o.close ();
    catch (IOException ex)
    ex.printStackTrace ();
    public boolean handleEvent (Event e)
    if ((e.target == input) && (e.id == Event.ACTION_EVENT)) {
    try {
    o.writeUTF ((String) e.arg);
    o.flush ();
    } catch (IOException ex) {
    ex.printStackTrace();
    listener.stop ();
    input.setText ("");
    return true;
    } else if ((e.target == this) && (e.id == Event.WINDOW_DESTROY)) {
    if (listener != null)
    listener.stop ();
    hide ();
    return true;
    return super.handleEvent (e);
    public static void main (String args[]) throws IOException
    Socket s = new Socket ("192.168.2.3",4449);
    new ChatClient ("Chat test", s.getInputStream (), s.getOutputStream ());
    On testing this simple app on my local host I have launched several instances of ChatClient and they interact perfectly between each other.
    Although when i test this app by launching ChatClient on another machine (using a wi-fi network connection at home), on the other machine that tries to connect to the hosting server (my machine) i get a "connection timed out" on the chatClient machine.
    I have added the port and ip addresses in concern to the exceptions to by-pass the firewall but i am still getting the timeout.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

    Format your code with [ code ] tag pair.
    If you are a young university student I don't understand why current your code uses so many of
    too-too-too old APIs including deprecated ones.
    For example, DataInput/OutputStream should never be used for text I/Os because they aren't
    always reliable.
    Use Writers and Readers in modern Java programming
    Here's a simple and standard chat program example:
    (A few of obsolete APIs from your code remain here, but they are no problem.
    Tested both on localhost and a LAN.)

  • Unable to check for available downloads. The network connection timed out.

    I downloaded iTunes 10.1.2 last week, and attempted to upgrade some music to iTunes Plus. I'm showing 35 items in my download queue, but when I attempt to download I get a message "Unable to check for available downloads. Network connection timed out."
    I e-mailed Apple Tech Support multiple times, and received their standard list of links for things to try. So far I have reinstalled iTunes, turned off my Norton Firewall, checked the program rules settings, flushed the dns cache, and unchecked the "allow simultaneous downloads" box. Still no luck.
    Apple's last e-mail requested I send them my account info so they could reset my password, and check my system. I'm still waiting for that to happen.
    I'd appreciate any user suggestions for this problem.

    Fundamentally it is an apple itunes server issue - if you have a lot of downloads the "check for downloads" request can take longer than the default windows internet connection timeout setting - which is 30 seconds on more recent versions of windows.
    You can work around it though - without requiring apple to "segment" your download list, by adding a windows registry setting.
    Apple re-enabled my downloads after I was burgled and then I was stuck - my "check for downloads" was always timing out - and the support guy had no clue - so I went digging, and found a a microsoft article here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/181050 which tells you how to change change that default timout value by adding a registry setting. Besides adding the ReceiveTimeout setting detailed on that page - I also changed the KeepAliveTimeout - just in case.
    HKEYCURRENTUSER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ReceiveTimeout
    which I set to 180000 milliseconds (3 mins)
    HKEYCURRENTUSER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\KeepAliveTimeout
    which I set to 181000 milliseconds (3 mins and 1 second)
    Use regedit to make the change - both settings are DWORDS with decimal values. You'll need to restart your PC to apply the change.
    After the change and restart and one initial failed attempt the request for downloads worked - when the apple itunes server responded after 2 minutes !!

  • Error "500 Connection timed out" when starting a Web Interface

    Hello,
    when starting a Web Interface
    (either from preview in Web Interface Builder or directly via transaction BPS_WIF0),
    after around 2 minutes I get the following Error Message: "500 Connection timed out"
    (in Detail, it says "Connection to partner timed out").
    If I use a less complex web interface, this error does not come up.
    What can I do to avoid this?
    Thank you in advance,
    Stephan

    Hello Stephan,
    if a basic web interface is fast enough, this is normally a confirmation, that the problem does not depend on network performance. We do this test always as an initial test to exclude network issues before we analyze BPS.
    So it looks like you do have BPS performance issues. What I can tell you is that multiple variable selectors decrease performance. If this is not you problem I would recommend to check how-to-paper "performance".
    It could be related to HTTP-services as well, you will find SAP notes about this topics in OSS.
    regards
    Eckhard Lewin
