Fusion Financials Intelligence

Hello,
Has anyone implemented Fusion Financials Intelligence on Oracle EBS 11.5.10? We are currently in the evaluation process and would like to find out if anyone else has done it.
Thanks
Ramesh.

Yes. I believe the Fusion Intelligence apps are built on top of OBIEE. They are also called 'BI Apps'. From the documentation that I read these BI Apps are certified from 11.5.8 to all the way to Release 12.
Just wondering if there is anyone out there who have actually implemented it on top of 11.5.10.
Thanks
Ramesh

  • Oracle Fusion Financials Certification (Fusion Financials versions)

    Hi!
I looked at Oracle Fusion financials certification page
Fusion Financials | Fusion Applications | Applications | Training and Certification | Oracle.
One can be certified on Fusion Financials General Ledger 11g or Fusion Financials General Ledger 2014. What are the differences between these 2 tracks (11g vs 2014)? It would be great if someone can explain it for me. I'm new in Fusion financials world.
    Regards,
    Lisanul

My reading from the implication from this blog authoritative seeming blog entry is that fusion financials 11g is deceasing and one should go for 2014.
    https://blogs.oracle.com/certification/entry/1135_01
( the blog entry refers to sales but it will surely all go he same way methinks )

  • Disco 10g with Apps 11.5.9. Financials Intelligence

    Hello,
I'm reading through Metalink note "Using Discoverer 10.1.2 with Oracle E-Business Suite 11i" 313418.1. with a view of getting Apps 11.5.9 integrated with Disco for both Financials Intelligence and also custom business areas and folders created against the base Apps views and tables.
I have some queries relating to SSO and step 1.6 ( Implement Single Sign-On for Discoverer 10.1.2.0.2 (Optional) )
I want to understand better when this needs to be put in place. I essentially need to be able to use the Financials Intelligence responsibility in Apps so that when I click on one of the reports, say "Project Cost Analysis", this would launch Disco 10g directly without further sign on requests, or choosing a connection from the Discoverer Connections screen.
I would also want to launch additional custom reports based on the Apps 11.5.9 datamodel via Disco Plus/Viewer standalone, preferably by the Apps 11.5.9 menu. Can this be done, or do I need to launch the Discoverer plus/viewer URL directly to access the connections screen (presuming the default connections screen is mandatory)?
How does Oracle Apps work with the connections screen that is provided with Disco 10g so that it does not appear when a report is launched? Perhaps this is where the option step 1.6 assists with full SSO integration with the single signon server, so that it uses your Apps login to work out what Disco connection you have available to you.
We are not necessarily looking at using Oracle Portal, or requiring additional SSO integration with OID, if Disco can be fully integrated with Apps from a sign on perspective via other means.
I guess that if we can only launch custom disco worksheets from the connections screen (http://host:port/discoverer/viewer) which has a connection already registered for the user's connection using URL security (as you wouldn't want a financials reports made public) then we may need to consider SSO integration as described in step 1.6 if it allows us to use the same login details as used for Apps sign on.
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    John

    Thanks for the reply.
I've looked at Section 6 - not sure which part you are specifically referring to as paragraph 3, but I am guessing you mean the heading titled "Verify Applications profile options in Oracle Applications".
I have a couple of further queries.
    1. How do you integrate a new custom Disco worksheet into Apps 11i using form function security? I'm sure there is a current document on this somewhere. I found metalink note 278095.1 "How to Create a Link to a Discoverer Workbook in Apps11i", but this said that the author could not get this to work in 10g. Is there a document that is relevant to 10.1.2?
    2. Section 1.2 in the original note I was referring to states:
If you are not planning to use features Discoverer Connection Management, Discoverer Portlet Provider, and Oracle SSO, you can choose to alternatively install Oracle Business Intelligence Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.2). This installation type does not require installation and association to OracleAS Identity Management Infrastructure 10g (10.1.4.0.1).
Does this not require an infrastructure tier at all? Does anyone have a URL that points to the documentation/product download page for this software? I can find the standard Apps Server 10g page. I am wondering whether this significantly reduces the time to get Disco installed and integrated with Apps 11i versus going down a full install, as the metalink note contains a large number of steps.
    Cheers,
    John

  • Discoverer 10g and Oracle Financials

I am a newbie. Does Discoverer run against Oracle Financials - Project Accounting in particular?
    Thanks,
    Cherie Machler

    Hi,
Yes, Discoverer can run against Oracle Financials. You need to create a Discoverer EUL (End User Layer) that maps to the underlying Oracle financials tables and views and gives a business interpretation of the data in Oracle Financials. You can either use the EUL that is shipped with Oracle Financials Intelligence, create your own or do a bit of both.

  • Is there any way to load AP Invoice Payments into Fusion Financial Applications?

Use Case: Client is moving to Fusion financials from Oracle Applications R11... They want to see the historical payment information for the current and past year...

    Hi
you can use Payment Process Request for multiple payments (batch payment).
    It works similarly with R12.

  • Creating a DBI Report with a Generated Data Source

    Hi all,
I am on a customer site helping them to implement DBI.
We're using DBI Designer to create some Custom Reports.
We're interested in using Generated Data Sources in order to simplify handling of the complex Time Hierarchies implemented as standard within DBI (eg Rolling 30 days, Compare To Periods etc).
I've read the Metalink Note on how this should be achieved.
    (Note 363529.1)
Unfortunately, we seem to be in a Catch 22 situation.
The note states that we need to have BSC v5.3 (or later !) installed.
The latest patch version of OBSC we can find is 5100729 (BSC.I.delta.12).
Our belief is that BSC.I is version 5.2 (incidentally, why do we have two naming/numbering "conventions" ?)
    So two questions :
can we use generated data sources now, or do we have to wait for BSC 5.3 ?
when will BSC 5.3 be generally available ? (our customer uses HP/UX)
    thanks for any input
    Mike

    Hi All,
I am a newbie to DBI. Currently going through the documents DBI for Finanicials
    and Payable.
We have to develope custom reports for Payables and Financials intelligence based on Oracle Reports . I would like to know if its possible or not because I read a thread on Forum ("How do you make a copy of an existing DBI report? ") in which it mentions that it is not possible to edit a standard report.
And if it is possible how to go for that ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Anant.

  • No rows returned in the BIS views

I am new to Discoverer. I had connected to Financials Intelligence responsibility using discoverer desktop. When I tried to create a workbook in General Ledger Business Area to display the GL accounts, I get no rows returned message. I get the same message for any kind of report I try to create not only in GL business area but also in any of the seeded business areas provided by the Oracle. I can query it in toad and see the data but it is not retrieved in discoverer. what could be the problem? is there any profile options to be setup for my username or am I missing something?
    Any help is greatly appreciated
    Thanks

Here's the metalink note for those interested.
It's basically laying out all the steps to setup the info in Oracle Apps as alluded to by Simon and then perform a complete refresh of the BIS views in the database, bring in the new .eex file for changes, etc.

    ===========================================================
Applies to: Oracle Discoverer - Version: 10.1.2.48.18
This problem can occur on any platform.
    Oracle Applications 11.5.10.2
Oracle Applications Concurrent Manager SymptomsUnable to retrieve any data on standard General Ledger (GL) business areas and standard workbooks after migrating the EUL from Discoverer 4.1 to 10.1.2 and upgrading Oracle Applications to 11.5.10.2.
These same workbooks and business areas worked fine before the upgrade to Discoverer 10.1.2.
A custom business area and custom workbooks return data, but none of the standard pre-seeded "BIS" or "Financials Intelligence General Ledger (GL) business areas return data when testing in Discoverer Plus, Viewer or Desktop.
ChangesMigrated the Discoverer EUL and Oracle Application Server environment from Discoverer 4.1.48.08 to 10.1.2.48.18. CauseIncomplete setup of Oracle E-Business Suite and Discoverer environment for Business Intelligence (BIS) and/or Financials Intelligence, including missing profile options for Oracle Applications Administrator and custom Super User responsibility.
SolutionTo implement the solution, please execute the following steps:
    1. Login to Oracle Applications Systems Administration function as SYSADMIN user and set the profile option as described below:
    a. Profile > System
    b. Check the 'Site', 'Responsibility' and 'Profiles with No Values' checkboxes
    c. Enter "Applications Administration' in 'Responsibility' field
    d. Enter FII: GL BIS Discoverer access (if it does not display the profile option, please try wildcard option "FII%GL%BIS%" )
    e. Then in the next screen, select 'Yes' from LOV under 'Site' and 'Responsibility' column
    f. Save the settings
    g. Again repeat the same steps for custom responsibility "My_Company General Ledger Super User"
    2. Complete/confirm the following steps from Note 313418.1, Section 6, Post Installation Tasks
    a) Step 4. Regenerate your Business Views - done throughNote 313418.1, Section 6, Post Installation Tasks
    a) Step 4. Regenerate your Business Views - done through Oracle Applications Concurrent Manager as SYSADMIN user with the "Business Views Setup" responsibility.
    b) Recommend all steps under 4 and steps under 5
    c) Step 8. Refresh the Discoverer 10.1.2 End User Layer - via SYSADMIN user/responsibility - as described in note
    d) Step 9 -> Need to make sure Applications Administrator responsibility has all
security and access to the EUL and business areas. Be sure to grant to responsibility
rather than SYSADMIN user since the "Applications Administrator" responsibility is used to perform Discoverer Administration tasks.
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/eulapi \
    -CONNECT <EUL schema>/<password>@<db> \
    -GRANT_PRIVILEGE \
    -ROLE "Applications Administrator" \
    -PRIVILEGE all_admin_privs
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/eulapi \
    -CONNECT <EUL schema>/<password>@<db> \
    -GRANT_PRIVILEGE \
    -ROLE "Applications Administrator" \
    -PRIVILEGE all_user_privs
    AND
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/eulapi \
    -CONNECT <EUL schema>/<password>@<db> \
    -GRANT_PRIVILEGE \
    - ROLE "Applications Administrator" \
    -BUSINESS_AREA_ADMIN_ACCESS % \
    -WILDCARD \
    -LOG <log file name>
Note: The above commands need to be in one continuous line. For Unix/Linux, you may separate lines with continuation character "\"
    3. Once all steps have been completed, the standard General Ledger (GL) workbooks and newly created workbooks based on standard GL usiness areas will return data.
Note: If you are unsure if you are encountering this specific issue, it is always beneficial to test the data via SQL using the same Oracle E-Business Suite user and responsibility.
The following reference will guide you how to accomplish this:

  • Enterprise Planning and Budgeting

    Dear All
Does the Module enterprise planning and budgeting provides controlling functionality similar to encumbrance accounting in GL, or any other control functionality on transactions like Requisition/PO/Invoice  Item Wise...?

Oracle Hyperion Planning, including PBCS, does not include built in functionality for pre-expenditures (a.k.a. encumbrances) or most other accounting controls you would find in PeopleSoft / Fusion Financials.  However, you can build this type of functionality into your Planning application.
For example, you could use the Version dimension in Planning (or create a seperate dimension for this purpose) to contain children members which would hold multiple entry types:
    Version
         + Approved
         + Encumbrances
         + Adjustments
Version would equal Approved + Encumbrances + Adjustments.  Then you could create a Business Rule to do the following: 1) Approved = Approved + Encumbrances 2) Clear Encumbrances.  You could build the security in Planning to control who can input into "Approved" and who can run the Business Rule.  You could even use the Hyperion Planning workflow capabilities to incorporate work-flow controls into this process.
Hyperion Planning, and PBCS, provides the flexibility to build most financial processes and controls, but it is certainly not out-of-the-box functionality.
    Hope this helps.
