Fusion-icon error: glxinfo not installed. [SOLVED]

Hi, I am running gnome at the moment and I am trying to get compiz and emerald started. I type into the terminal:
[semperfiguy: ~]$ fusion-icon
* Detected Session: gnome
* execution of "which glxinfo" failed
* Error: glxinfo not installed!
And I get that error. Now when I run glxinfo from the it spits out a whole bunch of stuff. So it is obviously installed correct? So why is it giving me this problem?

This is what I get:
[semperfiguy: ~]$ which glxinfo
bash: which: command not found
Installed "which" and it works fine.. thank you!

I got this message today too. I understand that my music is stored on my computer, however I want to be certain that if I re-install iTunes, it won't erase my library....playlists, playcounts, checked songs, etc.

That suggests that the installer is getting damaged during the download.
I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

Fusion-icons error(solved)

After I install compiz-fusion and compiz-fusion-extra, I run the command fusion-icons
But I get wrong answer, the information is below:
compiz (dbus) - Error: dbus_bus_get error: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.
compiz (core) - Error: Couldn't activate plugin 'dbus'
Do I really miss something like "dbus"?

It seems not the dbus's problem, it's the panel's problem.
After the fusion-icon starts, the panel doesn't show the funsion-icon's icon on the panel, so I just make a wrong impression that the fusion-icon does not start.
Now I use xfce4, it seems OK.

The dreaded "Video Error-File Not Installed" When trying to watch LiveTV in WMC

I'm getting the following error message when trying to use Live TV in WMC:
Video Error
Files needed to display video are not installed or are not working correctly. Restart Windows Media Center or restart the computer.
On this system my tuners are the Hauppauge HVR 2250 and the Hauppauge HD PVR. It took awhile to set up, but when I click play on a channel I get 10 seconds of video, an audio loop of the same sound over & over followed by the above error message.
I ran into this problem once before on my Home Theater HTPC when trying to access the ATI Cable Card solution. To get that to work I had to uninstall and reinstall Playready. I tried 3 different ways of doing this on my new build & it did
not fix the problem. The only fix I didn't try was the one on Ceton's website that involves a whole lot of deleting of folders.
Since this current build doesn't have a cablecard installed, and gets the non-clear QAM stations from settop box through HD PVR, would it still be the Playready needing to be reset? The symptoms look identical to when I had the previous problem.
These same files play in the BeyondTV that I'm trying to migrate from, so all codecs appear to be onboard. I am using the latest HDPVR MediaCenter driver from the Hauppauge website & the latest drivers on the HVR-2250.

I had this problem after upgrading my graphics card to an AMD 5450 and the solution after a couple of days of hair pulling was one I hadn't come across before in relation to this problem.
It turned out that the problem was caused by the screen refresh rate, it was set to 60Hz by default and I got the Video Error message but if I changed it to 50Hz then playback of recorded programs or watching live TV worked.

Boot Camp 2.1 Update: Error, would not install

I tried to update my Boot Camp to 2.1.
The reasoning being, that my dimmer button, my volume button, etc does not work on my Windows Vista Ultimate Side.
Other short cut keys worked (i tried): ie: Print screen via 'fn'altF11, etc
However, when I installed it, the following message appeared.
"the installer encountered errors before Boot Camp could be configured.
To retry these operations at a later time, please run th installer again.
Click Finish to exit the installer."
How can I install the Boot Camp 2.1 updater?

First, backup. Files and system with Ultimate's build-in programs or 3rd party.
run chkdsk for starters. you may want to dabble even more with msconfig and look at your logs, see if there are errors, what startup items and services are running.
I could not install BC 2.1 64-bit even though I have 64-bi9t OS and hardware, maybe because older Mac Pro has 32-bit EFI.
I'd look at uninstalling and reinstalling BC 2.0 and leave well enough alone and focus on just the small issues for now.
Oh, and WinClone is another method and free for backing up NTFS partitions from within OS X worth looking into.
I have not read of the error you got, off hand, that I recall reading.
I really think we need a BC 2.2 at this point in time.

Install error "could not install some modules:"

After I finsihed install I got some errors one was saying somthing exception related to Zip and then after second run I get
Warning - could not install some modules:
Core Modeling Library - The module named com.tomsawyer.module/1 was needed and not found.
Core Modeling Library - The module named org.antlr.module/1 was needed and not found.
I try to reinstall with the option "repair install" and after that I still get the same error.
by the way I installed both jdk and the ide. I have an older jdk still on my computer.

installed?Ths install procedure was successfully finished without any error message. Also, I can see J2EE is in my Control Pannel\ Add Remove\Program list.

TM Error "could not install OS X"

I'm trying to do a full TM restore to my Macbook Pro. After 8 hrs of restoring, I get an error message stating "could not install OS X" (sorry, don't have the full verbiage). I restart the macbook, goes through the gray apple screen and then completely shuts down.
Any suggestions? I would die if my restore is unsuccessful!

Yes, I followed those steps except for running Disk Utility prior to restoring. I doubt that would make a difference, but will try again. I booted up from a Snow Leopard install CD, wonder if it will make a difference if I boot from the original gray disc that came with the machine.

There seems to be an issue with Intel and Compiz. To launch Compiz you have to always enter the following command into a terminal (as stated in the arch wiki).
LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=true compiz --replace --sm-disable ccp &
This works for me, however I have no idea how to make it so Compiz auto starts on login. Simply pasting this command into "sessions and startup" doesn't work.
If anyone knows how to set Compiz to auto start with the above command on Xfce4 I would be grateful.

Mate-screenshot GLib-GIO-ERROR - schema not installed

I installed mate desktop and everything works except the mate-util packages like mate-screenshot.. When I try to run mate-screenshot or mate-dictionary I get this error:

what version of the mate-utils package do you have?
1.6.0-4? that one should work
previous 1.6.0-3 had some issues
edit:
you can also try to run
/usr/bin/glib-compile-schemas /usr/local/share/glib-2.0/schemas/
to see if that compiles the schemas or not

Client Security Solution error - Device not installed

After the latest update, the TV Fingerprint Software version 5.9.5.7038 was installed. Since then, the fingerprint scanner works well to start up, but if I open an Internet Explorer page which is password protected, instead of the scanner coming up, I get this message:
"The requested operation requires fingerprint authentication, but the device is not installed. Please make sure the device is connected and retry the operation."
Is there a fix for this? If not, is there a way to roll back to the previous version of the fingerprint software? Everything worked perfectly until this update.

Extension manager error "can not installed, requires version in range of"

I recently got adobe cloud and trying to install my extensions even on illustrator but I keep getting the error " This extension can not be installed, it requires {program} version in range of inclusively between 14.0 and 15.0?

Hi Carl, this extension was built with Extension Builder 2.1 and the mxi file is automatically generated.
It is supposed to support CS5 through CC versions.
mxi file has the following entries:

<product maxversion="15.9" name="Illustrator" primary="true" version="15.0"/>
<product familyname="Illustrator" maxversion="17.9" primary="true" version="16.0"/>
</products>
Also, this extension has been working in Creative Cloud ever since CC came out, and only recently did we start having issues.
Is it possible that there is an issue with the latest update to Extension Manager?

Trial FrameMaker 8 Throws Error - Will Not Install Without SN

So I downloaded and installed the Framemaker 8 Trial version today. I installed it and when I went io run it, it asked if I had a Key or wanted the Trial. I wanted the 30-day Trial so I selected that. Then it tells me there was a problem with the Trial and that I need to enter a Serial Number to continue. This is my first time with a Trial of Framemaker 8. The software then recommended I uninstall and reinstall. So I downloaded a fresh copy (just t o be safe), uninstalled, rebooted, and reinstalled. Same problem. Argh! Has anyone else experienced this problem, and if so, what's the solution? (Sorry if this has been posted a bajillion times before... I'm just at my wits end here...)

Another update... here are just a few links to the exact same problem being reported all over the Adobe User Forums, with no solution. They also appear to happen to all Adobe applications. This is very strange and should seriously be looked into. Why have a trial if it only works for SOME people?

many wb pages are not accessable, i keep getting this error messge?
The page “Coastalwatch :: surfcams :: surf reports :: swell forecasts :: news” has content of MIME type “application/x-mplayer2”. Because you don’t have a plug-in installed for this MIME type, this content can’t be displayed.
Wher do i get this plug-in from? Or is it as simple as changing a setting on the system?

Probably a bit of both. Try this:

Assuming you already run OS 10.4.9 or above and have Quicktime 7.2, and are using Safari 2 or 3, download and install (or re-install even if you already had them) the latest versions, suitable for your flavor of Mac, of:
RealPlayer from http://uk.real.com/player/
Flip4Mac WMV Player from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx (Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported, even by Microsoft)
Perian from http://perian.org/
Adobe FlashPlayer from http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
In Quicktime Preferences, under advanced, UNcheck Enable Flash, and under Mime settings/Miscellananeous only check Quicktime HTML (QHTM).
In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them).
Now repair permissions and restart.
The world should now be your oyster!
You should also have the free VLC Player from http://www.videolan.org/ in your armory, as this plays almost anything that DVD Player might not.
