FUture direction for Primavera !

Hello,
Is anyone aware of Future direction of Primavera and its integration with Oracle Projects.
Is Oracle coming up with some Out of Box intgration for Primavera and Oracle?
Any pointers will really help.
regards

Hi Prasanna,
Below is the information that i got from metalink doc: 471982.1
Oracle has teamed up with Impress Software to offer a robust new integration to Microsoft Project Server and Primavera for project scheduling.
Built on Fusion Middleware, the Impress for Enterprise Project Management (EPM) solution delivers seamless, two-way integration with these project scheduling tools for both PeopleSoft ESA and Oracle EBS Projects, enhancing their already impressive capabilities for effective program and project management. By combining the program management capabilities of Oracle's EBS and PeopleSoft ESA products with the project scheduling and execution capabilities of Microsoft Project Server or Primavera, project and service-intensive organizations are able to more efficiently execute projects while maintaining appropriate project control and visibility. Impress for EPM enables these organizations to make the most of this powerful combination by automating critical cross-system business processes and data flows.
Thanks,
Sathish

  • Questions about the future directions of InfoPath and Microsoft Access

Because I have been confused about the future directions of InfoPath and Access, I wrote a short blog post, which I have pasted below.  My question is, can Microsoft provide some more guidance on Access vs InfoPath?  If Access is indeed the
the future direction, can you please provide some pointers to resources that can help us transition.
A Short Review of MS Access,  SharePoint ,InfoPath (2013)
After the November 2012 SharePoint Conference in Las Vegas (#spc12) there were a number of blog posts and people saying that Access 2013 was great and would be replacing InfoPath.
    Marc Anderson and
    Ruven
Gotz have short posts summarizing #SPC12 and touch on the subject of InfoPath and Access.  I also spoke with several individuals shortly after #SPC12 and they were excited about Access 2013.
Since I rely heavily on InfoPath for much of what I do, I wanted to kick the tires and see what everyone was talking about.  First, a few notes about SharePoint 2013 and Office 2013.
Microsoft should rename Access:  If you have tried to
bing the word Access, then you know that the search results are overwhelming,  because the word "access" is used for so many other purposes.
Use the RTM version of Office 2013! I was performing  my investigations by leveraging the Office 365 Beta and the Office Applications that come with it.  Not much was working!  After I uninstalled the Beta
version of Office 2013 and Installed the RTM version everything seemed to work.
Windows 7 and IE 9.0: The drag & drop that is being touted as
"manna from heaven" seems to work well with Firefox, Safari, Chrome, and IE 10, but it does
    not work with IE 9!
Non Microsoft browsers are still second class citizens (except for the drag & drop):  Microsoft has finally done away with the Active X's for datasheet view (that is brilliant!)  One can now see the newly
minted datasheet view in many browsers.  But I still find that one needs to be in IE to do a number of key manual opeartions.  For example pasting numerous rows of data from a spreadsheet into the new sheet view works only in IE.
    Access 2013
Microsoft Access is touted as a non developer tool.  I know a number of people who are on the business side and love Access.  These people will like the renewed energy that Microsoft has applied to Access.   One should note that conceptually
this functionality existed  in SharePoint 2010.  Here is what I see that is new:
+The new version works better:Although I haven't tested it fully, it seems that many more features that work on the Desktop version of Access, now work in the published Web Application which is hosted by SharePoint 2013.
+The new version has fairly robust browser based forms: End users can now fill in data using forms that are rendered in the browser.
+The published version that resides in SharePoint now uses its own SQL server tables.  So the engine appears to be SQL Server, not a modified version of Access built for a server.  This stands to be quite robust, but I imagine
that some quirks will surface due to new model.
    The limitations are:
    - Access is pretty much its own application and does not integrate with SharePoint building blocks.  For example, an Access table is not easy to integrate with a SharePoint workflow.  Further, although  Access forms now are visible
in a browser, they are not nearly as rich as InfoPath forms.  InfoPath forms cannot easily integrate with the Access tables.  In order to integrate SharePoint features and Access, one needs to tie SharePoint list(s) to Access as data sources.
This overcomplicates the model and one may very well run into synchronization issues.
In short, although I believe there will be some people who will be happy with newly minted Access, I do not think that Access will be able to replace InfoPath and Workflow technologies.  I do agree that Microsoft does not seem to have put much energy into
InfoPath.  If they leave a vacuum in this space, then others may very well take over, for instance Nintex Forms.

Although I agree with the comments made by Ruven and Marc after the conference please note that those blog posts are their own personal opinions and that they don't work for Microsoft.  A lot of people have asked Microsoft to clarify the future of InfoPath
and the response up until now has been a deafening silence.  In my opinion speculations about Access replacing InfoPath are premature.
I should also point out that most of your comments about Access 2013 above are actually about Access Services in SharePoint Server 2013.  Access Services are NOT Access they are a shared service offering in SharePoint that convert and publish Access
databases and forms.  As you point out once an Access database is published through Access services it is converted to SQL Server and no longer resides in Access.  Of course I don't work for Microsoft either so these are all just my personal opinion.
Having said that I doubt you will get the confirmation/response that you are hoping for from any official Microsoft channel.

  • Future direction of BEA Web Services? - binary / attachments

    Hello,
I'm looking at needing to transfer binary data through a web service,
but can't handle the 4/3+ size increase that occurs when embedding the
    data with base64 encoding.
I know that WL 8.1sp3 support SwA, but that standard is being deprecated
in favor of newer technologies like Fast Web Services (based on ASN.1
encoding rules), MTOM/XOP, Basic Attachments Profile.
We'd prefer to be able to rely on the support of the application server.
What is BEA's future direction in terms of this technology? Will they be
supporting one or all of these binary standards? When is the estimated
date for this technology to be implemented?
If these technologies won't be implemented for a while, is it possible
to plug in 3rd party web services solutions into BEA WL8.1 (e.g. Sun's
JWSDP, Axis, etc)? I believe it is, but am just asking for the sake of a
    full answer.
    Thanks

    Steve,
Due to BEA's award winning support they offer, I had to figure this out on my own. After weeks of dealing with a support case they provided me with absolutely nothing. Just as they have done in this thread. I will share what I have done for the mean time to get around their limitations using attachments.
I used the Axis libraries to create a DIME attachment and call a BEA web service. Since BEA doesn't support Dime, a servlet filter had to be implemented and parse the DIME message prior to the web service received it. I'm sending 2GB files with transfer rates of 6MB/S.
This is a response from BEA's award winning support:
"We do not have good specification standard as yet as to how to best solve the issue. It appears like a pretty larger issue to solve because of the lack os standards and specification. Engineering is still researching on the issue and we don't know which version will have the fix."

  • Future direction of Reports product wrt Oracle Applications

    Hi,
Has Oracle come out with a document that shows the future direction of the Oracle Deveoper Reports product with respect to Oracle Applications?
I believe that Forms may not be required in the future as ADF will be the basis for Fusion. Currently, Oracle has used OAF in R12 to replace quite a bit of Forms developed in 11i and prior releases. My main question pertains to the Reports direction.
If Oracle is to develop a new report that would output to Excel, will it do so by registering the program as "Java Concurrent Program" with a template and data definition, as opposed to a report developed using Reports Developer (an RDF) and then have a template attached to it (the data definition elements will come from the RDF)?
I see Reports Developer still being used in R12. Is Reports Developer not going to be used with Fusion? And every report will be a "Java Concurrent Program" in Fusion?
If Reports Developer is indeed going to not have a future, question is if "Java Concurrent Program" development can have the similar programming logic capabilities like triggers (before report, after param, triggers for each field, grouping, summary) and skipping printing etc.?
    Thanks
    skn

My question was not really on ADF vs OAF, but the use of Reports tool in Fusion.
I did that search and got a couple of threads on that - It looks like Reports is not part of the Fusion stack -
Re: Best way to develop a BI Publisher Report
Re: OAF screens in R12 for People and Assignment Screens ..
It would have been great if Oracle provided a document (MOS note) that clearly stated the technology stack to be used in Fusion. And clearly state that Reports (and Forms) will not be part of the Fusion stack. If there is such a document, please provide the note ID.
    Thanks.

  • Future direction of User Provisioning Tools ( GRC CUP or IDM)

    Hi Security Colleagues,
We all know that SAP has GRC CUP(Access Enforcer) and NW IDM for provisioing.
We can use either of toll for user provisioning.
Based on your experience , what is the best tool ? ofcourse ,It changes from one company to other depends on requirements.
I am noticed that  lot of SAP devlopment activity going on around IDM.
Based on SAP's future direction, what is the best tool ?
Its a common problem for most of SAP customers as SAP is giving IDM freely as part of NW license.
    please share your thoughts..
    Thank You.

For Futuristic product availabliliy, I always prefer the following two places to check. Can you please also check their?
    http://service.sap.com/pam
    http://service.sap.com/scl
Check the following Two points under the 2nd Link:
    Scenario & Process Component
    SAP's Release Strategy
Now based on your query I will also stick to the suggestions given in the Other two posts. To add few more points which you may get helpful I would like to emphasize on the below discussion:
u2022 SAP NetWeaver Identity Management helps companies to centrally manage their user accounts (identities) in a complex system landscape. This includes both SAP and non-SAP systems.
u2022 The solution provides an authoritative, single source of user information and enables self-service management of user information and authorizations using workflow technology.
u2022 In many cases resources such as meeting rooms, PCs and mobile devices, which all may have their own identity in some context, can be included in an identity management solution.
Out of all other points, lets discuss about Provisioning:
u2022 The term provisioning is often used to denote user provisioning or account provisioning.
    u2022 The functionality includes:
    o creation of accounts
    o setting initial passwords
o setting and modifying access rights
    o disabling (revoking) an account
    o deleting an account
u2022 The overall purpose is to make sure an identity (for example a user) has the correct access to the applications.
u2022 User provisioning products also include workflow capabilities to apply business rules to the account provisioning process and typically provide user self-service capabilities (e.g., password reset)
(All these details I picked up and pasted here from different section of a Solutioning Material I prepared for my company to introduce IDM solutions to my customer... couldn't give here properly due to space constraints). You can understand the Importance SAP is imposing on this product for All aspects of Automating Security and Identity of Living and Non-Living staffs as well. By using this you can get more benefits besides of Provisioning which is available in separate Solutions under other products like Virsa etc. Please go through the relevant materials available in the IDM Forum (Bernhard provided u the link) to understand go for an realization assessment.

How to make a photo STAY in the assets panel for future use for In browser editing?
When I delete a photo from a page, it does not stay in the assets panel. My client uses in browser editing daily. Once a week he changes a photo just for a day, then needs the previous photo to replace it. The original photo is not in the asset panel (or folder) for him to choose.
When you upload a photo, it has an arrow in the asset panel. How do you use this as an asset?

Sure ... right mouse click on  your page and choose 'Exclude Page from Menus' :-)

    Hi,
Standard or Pro would be licensed through your serial number, the download link and downloaded file would be the same for both of them.
Pro or Standard would be determined after you put in your serial number.

  • Change future periods for Fiscal year variant-OB29

    Hi experts,
We are using 4-4-5 rule, Fiscal year variant is M1, Future Periods for FY variant M1 is not maintained correctly.  Our year end is on 6/25/2011 but in our variant M1 it is defined as 7/2/2011 and periods following that are defined incorrectly.

    Hello,
If you change the Fiscal year period in the live system the following problems may come as per my understanding.
For Costing Module Planning would have already been carried our at the start of the year,
similarly for CS, PP and PS modules if they are implemented in your company the planning data will be effected.
If there is any Budjet posted even you have to consider how to change  the budget and reaccolation

  • What are appropriate directives for array implementation in hls

    dear friends,
I have tried hardware implementation in VivadoHLS by passing arrays to the function in Microblaze based soc. The problem I am facing is that the RTL is not being implemented properly.Though the implementation was success for register inputs and outputs , there were no functions generated in the header files in include directory of pcores through which inputs are to be given to hardware while the input and output arguments are arrays in SDK. i need a help to know the appropriate directives for this implementation . And the functions to be used to give inputs after generating hardware and how the final outputs from the hardware are taken. Please clarify the implementation of this basic example.
    void array_add(int z[4],int x[4])
    #pragma HLS INTERFACE ap_fifo port=z
    #pragma HLS INTERFACE ap_fifo port=x
    #pragma HLS RESOURCE variable=z core=AXIS
    #pragma HLS RESOURCE variable=x core=AXIS
    #pragma HLS RESOURCE variable=return core=AXI4LiteS
    int i;

    z[i]=x[i];
    return;

    Hi
There are couple of directives for this. This can determine the way you want to implement your array or partition this.
    I found a good guide.

  • Donot extract from PSA. Access datasource directly (for small amts of data)

    Hi Experts,
I am facing issue in DTP screen. I dont see File extraction selection path in DTP screen.
My requirement is to load the csv file directly into DSO.  Here I dont use PSA /Infopackage.  I want to do this by DTP selection.  But in DTP selection I dont see File extraction options.
In DTP screen I dont see Check Box which says " Donot extract from PSA. Access datasource directly (for small amts of data) "
Last week we have upgrade/applied support packs.  So I am assuming that is this issue occured due to upgrade activity or it is something other way which iam missing.
    Appreciate your early response.
    Many thanks for your help.
    Regards,
    Saji

    Saji
What is the location of your CSV file? Your Local machine or Application server ?
I believe it has to be application server to have this settings.
If you think this problem got created due to upgrade , you can try to create a FULL DTP for any of the master data/text DataSource and check if the option is coming there. If yes, then upgrade did not create any problem and you are sure this is a settings problem.
Please check this thread....Do not Extract from PSA but Access Data Source (for Small Amounts of Data)
