Future direction of Reports product wrt Oracle Applications
Hi,
Has Oracle come out with a document that shows the future direction of the Oracle Deveoper Reports product with respect to Oracle Applications?
I believe that Forms may not be required in the future as ADF will be the basis for Fusion. Currently, Oracle has used OAF in R12 to replace quite a bit of Forms developed in 11i and prior releases. My main question pertains to the Reports direction.
If Oracle is to develop a new report that would output to Excel, will it do so by registering the program as "Java Concurrent Program" with a template and data definition, as opposed to a report developed using Reports Developer (an RDF) and then have a template attached to it (the data definition elements will come from the RDF)?
I see Reports Developer still being used in R12. Is Reports Developer not going to be used with Fusion? And every report will be a "Java Concurrent Program" in Fusion?
If Reports Developer is indeed going to not have a future, question is if "Java Concurrent Program" development can have the similar programming logic capabilities like triggers (before report, after param, triggers for each field, grouping, summary) and skipping printing etc.?
Thanks
skn
My question was not really on ADF vs OAF, but the use of Reports tool in Fusion.
I did that search and got a couple of threads on that - It looks like Reports is not part of the Fusion stack -
Re: Best way to develop a BI Publisher Report
Re: OAF screens in R12 for People and Assignment Screens ..
It would have been great if Oracle provided a document (MOS note) that clearly stated the technology stack to be used in Fusion. And clearly state that Reports (and Forms) will not be part of the Fusion stack. If there is such a document, please provide the note ID.
Thanks.

Installing Forms&Report Services with Oracle Application Server 10g Rel 3
Can I Install Forms & Report Services with Oracle Application Server 10g Release 3 some how?
I am thinking of installing Forms & Reports Services in separate home with Oracle Application Server 10g Rel 3.
Does any body has any different idea so that they both can run more smoothly together.
Thanks
Raj
www.oraclebrains.comThey WILL NOT RUN TOGETHER. We have discussed this many times before. They must be in separate homes.

Forms and Report Service in Oracle Application Server
In Oracle application server release 10.1.3 Forms and Report service is not available. Can anyone please tell whether the support is completely withdrawn or it will be available as different component in future release of Application Server
We release core application server first and then ensure rest of the solutions are certified on the core. In this case, 10.1.3 based servlet container (but with lots of features added on top) would be supported by Forms and Reports Services in Release 11.

How to install Oracle Report Services in Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.1
My project is running on Oracle Application Server(OAS) 10.1.3.1, and I need to develop some Oracle Reports for my client.
But I find out there is not "Oracle Report Services" component in OAS 10.1.3.1 like OAS 10.1.2.
Is there Oracle Report Services for OAS 10.1.3.1? How to get it?Max Yuan wrote:
You mean I need to install 2 OAS(10.1.2 for report, 10.1.3 for my project), or deploy my project to 11g? For the Reports reporting project, you'll need a version/edition that includes AS Reports Services.
In "10gr2" that means AS 10.1.2.0.2 (plus Patch set): AS Infrastructure + AS BI&Forms installation (enterprise edition) or the standalone Forms and Reports installation (EE or separate licensing). You also need the Developer Suit (Reports Builder). OFM "11gr1" suite has some version of Reports Services but I don't know the available packages and installation types. -

Very very urgent Discoverer reports for non oracle applications
Hi,
My client is using discoverer 10g with R12.He is using different non oracle applications like BRM Application (database is oracle only) for that they wants to develop discoverer reports. It is possible to integrate with non oracle applications with discoverer.
Can you please suggest me.It is very very urgent.
Thanks & Regards.Hi
You're really not supposed to manage a non-Apps mode EUL and an Apps mode data within the same URL. Having said that, I have a hunch you just might be able to do it and there are 2 ways. You can either make the data available to user who login using E-Business Suite credentials or you can make it available to users who have database credentials. The first one is straightforward and you do it just like any other data. Let me give you some hints regarding the second method.
First of all I ahve not personally tried this and you may find that because Discoverer was initially set up in Apps mode that somewhere down the line it will make the suers connect this way. However, the following is worth a try.
I would a new schema in the Oracle E-Business database to manage the link to BRM and create a database link from this user to a user in the BRM database. You will also need to create user accounts within the database for anyone who needs to login and run BRM reports.
Next, I would create views in this new schema pointing at data across the BRM link, thus allowing Discoverer to think these are local objects.
In Discoverer Administrator, you would need to log in to Discoverer using the owner of the EUL - NOT using SYSADMIN or any of the other E-Business Suite accounts. You should log in with the Oracle Applications checkbox unchecked. You can now create new business areas on the BRM data. You should also be able to assign users to Discoverer privileges and users to business areas.
Using the same URL you would have Apps users connect using the E-Business Suite item on the drop-down for logging in and you would have BPM users choose the Business Intelligence Discoverer item.
Let me know how you get on

How to set Forms and Reports on an Oracle Application Server
Hi All,
Can anyone tell me how can i implement my all forms and reports on an Application Server. Please tell me in details cause i don't have enough knowledge abt AS.
Thanks in Advance
ArifHi Arif,
You can install AS Forms and Reports Standalone if you do not need infrastructure services like OID and SSO
It is available for download from OTN search for Standalone on AS 10g R2 download page, then deploy your Forms and Reports there.
I hope this helps.
