Future ipod idea

I know there is that Motorola iTunes Phone, but I truly wish Apple would make an iPod combined with Blackberry phones. I mean, the new iPod has 80GB now, can you imagine an iPod with current iPod design with Blackberry capabilities? It would be even better with Bluetooth and price range of about $450.00. The Treo 700 costs around $600 retail...
Instead of carrying multiple units around with that white headphone, imagine the convenience of Bluetooth wireless headphone that's not so clumsy nor current bulky attachments to the iPod unit. Email services right on the iPod would be great and that WiFi capabilities of the PSP and Zune one this iPod would blow away the competition. I suppose there would the development costs, market testing, market feasiblity, licensing issues, and other major concerns between Apple and RIM. As a consumer, I am thoroughly enjoying the current iPod model. However, I just feel that somethings can be improved...

how do i pull a print of an ipod ideas sketch? I can't find a print button nowhere!

Okay, I found that, however it only prints on about a quarter of the 8.5x11 sheet. How do get it to print the sketches to fill a whole sheet, or at least get to print as big as the iPad screen itself?

  • Please ship future iPod Shuffles with Shuffle Mode TURNED OFF

I just got my iPod and loaded it full of podcasts. It kept flashing orange indicating that it was empty. I spent more than 4 frustrating hours restoring, reloading, reading, forums etc etc.
Finally, I found a post that said the iPod will not play Podcasts when switched to shuffle mode. WHY NOT! Man! That was frustrating. At least it works now... like a charm.
    Apple,
Please ship future iPods with Shuffle turned off and/or mention this issue in the quick reference cards and the .pdf manual so that others don't waste hours because of this quirk.
    Thanks

    Thanks, 0Ari0
I looked again at the .pdf and insert and still found nothing mentioning podcasts not playing in shuffle mode.
I suppose that I am once again the exceptional user in that I only loaded podcasts onto it and could not get them to play until researching the "problem/feature" regarding podcasts and shuffle mode.
I realize that podcasts are something that you typically don't want played randomly. I do want them to play in an order. However I want them to play in an order that I specify. I have tried creating playlists, dragging each file individually to the iPod to get them in an order I want. Regardless of how I intertwine different episodes of different shows for a varied playlist the iPod somehow groups them, I believe, by release date.
sadly they also get played backwards from most recent to the oldest regardless of how I load them. I want to listen from oldest to newest. Another, quirk that doesn't work for me personally. But, that is something I still have to research and figure out. I'm hopeful that it can do that.
Anyway, thanks for responding. I have reading to do.

  • Ive got a great new idea for the future ipod!!  Who do I discuss this with?

As it says above but I do not know who the right person is to discuss this with!  Please help!

    Can always go to apple.com/feedback
    Not entirely sure where else.

  • Future iPod Nano's & Video's

Okay. I'v been thinking for a while. Nano's & Video's, what exactly are they built out of? I know this is beyond any topic on the discussion board but it has come to my attention that. If Nano's are allowed to store pictures and iPod Video's are allowed to store Video's and Picture's then what is it that's taking Apple so long to figure this out.. I don't know if this is possible, but since Nano's can store picture's and iPod video's are allowed to store Video's and Picture's why can't they just build a intergrated Camera on the nano & a Intergrated Video Cam. and a Camera for the iPod video. I know it's a tough question but it is a smart idea. First off, if your thinking it's useless because of the following reason
    - Camera Phone
    - Video Camera/Camera Phone
Then I'll prove you wrong. Phone's are made for calling, local and long distance. Sure those "new" phones can store music such as the Motorola ROKR or the SLVR, but seriously I have one word for technology. It's great that you have music on your phone but please. stick to the basic. Music with music, Number's with numbers. I bet you're thinking, purchasing an iPod Nano with a Camera is useless or an iPod Video with a Video Camera & a Camera is useless, but wanna know something? If you have the desire to listen to music more often then using your phone I highly Suggest you purcahse a Nano or a Video Intergrated with the following "yeah you know" but if you prefer to talk all day go buy a phone. Point proven any arguments?

I know this is beyond any topic on the discussion board
Then why bring it up,especially since you agreed NOT to discuss it (in the Terms of Service)?
    Point proven any arguments?
    No, you won, hands down...
Have you posted to Apple, where it will at least get looked at by the concerned parties?

  • Next great iPod idea

Has anyone seen the kiosk's at the airport lately? One sells iPods like a candy machine, the other sells power for your iPod (and other portable electronics). Both are stand alone and to use them, you simply swipe your credit card, no sales people...fast, efficient, something to do when you're flight gets delayed (and that never happens anymore!)
Anyways, I think I've got the next great iPod money-maker for Apple (naturally, have no clue how to provide this suggestion to the think tanks who come up with their stuff so I figure I'd give their discussion forum a go.)
The idea is simple, Apple should set up a kiosk in the Airports (malls, universities...Bose does it, so does Rosetta Stone), maybe one shaped like a giant iPod that is "larger than life" and is connected to the iTunes store with 8 or so touch screens/connection ports. This device would allow someone to plug in their iPod, swipe their credit card and download directly any movie, podcast or music they want from the iTunes store (believe their account would credit the purchase for access from their home computer if they wanted it there). No overhead with staffing other than the 1-800 trouble call person. I think everyone traveling has an iPod these days and when I talk with many of those I come accross, they all say things like, "I wish I thought to download a new book or movie before the flight." With this cool baby, this self licking ice cream cone would blow iPhone out of the water as the next cool thing. Maybe, if it was to catch on, they would call it the iMark...
    Well, theres the idea.

  • How can I submit a request for a feature in a future iPod update.

I use my iPod via a 3.5mm patch cable to my car stereo which is charged by a Belkin car charger connected to a power socket with is only live when the ignition is on.
I would like to request an option within the iPod settings that I could enable to make the iPod always have the backlight on when it is connected to an external power source.
Even better would be for Apple to introduce an option for a "Car Mode" in which, when it detects an external power source with no data line, it would automatically turn the backlight on & begin playing, and revert to normal backlight settings & pause when the power source discontinues

  • Help: iTunes completely reset itself, eliminating half of my purchased playlist, deleting all my podcast files, etc.  No idea why this happened and how can I fix it?

    Hello.
I did not touch my computer the past week, I've only been messing with my laptop.  I had my computer off a whole day.  I turn it on, open iTunes, and everything is gone.
I system restore.  Everything is gone.  None of my podcasts, apps, or music files are there.  My iPod itself is fine.  I restore back to current settings, still, everything gone.
I plug my iPod in.  I don't think it took anything off my iPod, but even without syncing, it eliminated a ton of the songs on my iPod from my 'purchased' playlist.  Now, these songs will not transfer back over to iTunes because iTunes is not recognizing them as official songs.  Is there a link to download/redownload your past purchases again?  I was trying to find that but had no luck. (Also my iTunes purchase history is incorrect and has at least 1 omitted song I paid for, but that is another story for another day).  I want these songs to transfer to my library so I can put them on a future iPod I bought.
I do things the legal way, I do not illegally get any music.  I've bought 800 to 1000 songs from iTunes over the year (now that is a lot of money).  Now my iPod is listing it as only 600 and some.  This is my second iPod and the second time I've had major issues with the iPod just going crazy on me.  I won't stick with Apple if I get screwed out of songs I have paid for.
Anyways, from what I have described, does anyone know what is up?  Directions on where to go to download all past purchases?  Ideas?
The only potentially bad thing I've done with iTunes at all is I delay updating it as long as possible.  I hadn't updated the most recent update for a few months now.  Still, that is no reason for the system to go ape **** on me.  I am fairly certain at this point that *all* my songs are still on my iPod, but as I said, if this one all of a sudden died or I wanted to get a new one, I'm looking at half my actually bought songs being non-transferrable.
    Thanks for any response.

Is your laptop a different computer than your computer?
    You have two computers?
iTunes is missing everything from which one/both?
I system restore.  Everything is gone.  None of my podcasts, apps, or music files are there.
Do you mean you reinstalled the system from scratch?
Yes, that tends to delete everything.
Or you restored everything from a backup?
Directions on where to go to download all past purchases?
Selete Store on the left side of iTunes.
Make sure you are signed in.
Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick links to redownlaod your purchases.
Then make sure to regularly backup, backup, backup all your important data .

  • Ipod New Features and Functions Suggestions?

I'm sure with the continuous updates for the Ipod Software that there is a place where we can make suggestions but I can't find it? That said, I have an idea I would like to post so that someone from development could take under consideration. As well this could be a thread for other's ideas as I'm sure we all have them. Here we go:
    1. Wouldn't it be great if while listening to music on your iPod using the shuffle feature, if you heard a song you like, you could press a button and have it return directly to the album from where it's located. When you have 20 - 60 GB of songs, scrolling back through menus to get to artists or songs is long and painful. This would also save serious battery time, etc.
    2. How about a feature on Itunes that allows you to sort or count how many songs (and size) that you have checked versus what you don't. I have 60 gb of music but only a 20gb iPod. Currently you have to use the "Allow iPod to create a playlist" feature to select 20 GB worth of music and then edit from there.

There is a form you can use to submit suggestions for future iPods; messages submitted there will be read by the iPod engineers, while suggestions posted here may not be.

  • IPod Software Suggestions

Suggestions for future iPod software versions:
    1. An option for the backlight to stay on when connected to power source (would be useful when using iPod in car).
    2. While iPod is playing a playlist, when you go to the Music > Artists, Albums, Genres, Composers menus, instead of the first song in the list being highlighted, it would find the artist or album currently being played.
Just a couple of suggestions this user thinks would be useful!

  • Future support flac in iTunes

    Hi,
Since April 2004 I'm a very satisfied user of the iPod Photo 60GB and iTunes and ripped all my 1200 cd's into 320kbps AAC-files. Because I loved the way iTunes works with the iPod I was planning to buy a Macbook for next year!
Some weeks ago I bought myself an Onkyo AV-receiver with Phonar P5.5 speakers though... And now I need a lossless audio codec that is supported by iTunes, the AVR and Synology DS410, but unfortunately only WAV is supported by all 3. But the lack of an ID3-tag makes it no option for me and ALAC or FLAC got my attention.
ALAC, however, is not supported by the Onkyo-receiver and Synology-nas and I emailed them both if this will happen in the near future. Onkyo responded that they are working on it but don't know when this will be solved.
    Now my questions:
    1. When will FLAC be supported in iTunes?
    2. And will an update for my iPod add support for FLAC (or will future iPods have it...)?
FLAC in iTunes or ALAC in receiver and nas will solve my problem and I would hate the idea of uninstalling iTunes when none of these 2 solutions will possible.
PS: It goes without saying that I'll lose the interest I have in buying a Macbook if my future lossless audiofiles are not widely supported.
PPS: I also filled in the Apple feedback form about this, but hopefully somebody here can help/inform me sooner :-)(http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html).

I'm just saying I'm just ONE user who is enough satisfied with iTunes/iPod that I'm considering buy a Macbook in stead of computer with Windows like I always did. By coincidence I received a popup on the Apple-site to fill in a survey, so if Apple is not interested in my view (or of others) then why bother asking people to fill in surveys.
Besides, I don't think I'm alone in this: With the increased bandwiths, cpu-power, almost unlimited datacapacities and increase of the popularity of DLNA I think it's time Apple start seeing that (even MS does with their support in W7)!
To say it just plain and simple: If Apple doesn't give a rat's *** about it's potential customers and their demands from a marketing point of view then they aren't worth me and others having as a customer. But I hope it never ends up like that and I can keep on using iTunes (with FlAC-support or ALAC-support from other makers).
The following reasons keep me from ripping my music into FLAC are (hopefully the marketing people of Apple take notice ):
    1. Within short notice Apple implements support for FLAC in iTunes (and their iPods);
    2. Within short notice Onkyo and Synology implements support for ALAC in their products.
    3. I lose hope 1 or 2 will ever happen and when my 6 year old iPod dies I have no reason anymore to not start ripping my music into FLAC. The consequence though, is that the only (forget WMA-lossless!!!) lossless codec that works with DLNA doesn't work in iTunes so this program becomes unuseful. But I still want a notebook but why buy a Macbook if the audiofilesystem isn't widely supported???
PS: Again, I know I'm just ONE person, but I hope somebody important will read my comments here and starts thinking about the consequence if more people agree with me....

  • Nikon Camera .mov iPod video

    Hi
I understand that I can utilise Apple's Camera Connector, Belkin's Camera Link or Belkin's Media Reader to move images either directly from my camera / CF Card to the iPod video.
However, in addition to still images, my Nikon shoots reasonable 640x480 Quicktime movies. What I'd like to know is whether any of these devices (or similar) could be used to move .mov video files from the camera/card to the iPod.
I'm traveling to India for a month and would prefer not to take a powerbook with me. I'm hoping I can find a way to get all the media from my CF card directly onto the iPod.
btw. (this would be a bonus but not essential.) If I managed to transer a 640x480 .mov onto the iPod, would it play?

My review for Connector posted yesterday:
"Great Potential but not mature (yet).
Connector is a great idea and interface between our 30Gb iPod (video) and Canon Powershot S80 works basically fine. Connector delivers as promised, but -unlike Apple- the provided software support and functionality by current version of iPod software (v1.0.0) is far too minimal:
    - you can't make a (previewed) selection of images to be transferred. It's ‘all or nothing’ and ‘images only’ transfer (jpeg). Sadfully other camera content like video files, is ignored. Therefore you can only free up the camera memory space used by images. OK, immediately viewing those camera produced avi's is too much asked considering capabilities of current iPod’s and its file type support, but just basic transfer of all camera data as mature backup medium should be (made) possible.
    - Transfer speed is very slow. Even though they both support USB2.0 current throughput is about 15-30 minutes per 1GB (worse than USB1.1 spec!) and drains batteries rapidly. Because of that you run the risk of running out of batteries on either unit before complete transfer is finished, especially with nowadays common but big memory cards. This wouldn’t be that much of a problem if smaller selections of camera content were possible or USB2.0 transfer speed was really achieved (60GB/s)…
If Apple is able to improve compatibility, performance and feature set through future iPod software updates, the usefulness of this Connector is promising.
For now limited use (still need extra camera mem-cards), but cheap ‘gadget’ (modern camera’s come with 2,5” screens for viewing too)…"
Therefore answer to your 1st question if transfer of .mov from Nikon2iPod through Connector will work: Not sure, but unlikely since softwaresupport for Connector within Ipod (Photo & Video) is currently aimed for transferring and viewing photos (Jpeg) ONLY.
2nd question "will 640x480 play on iPod": NO, maximum support is 480x480 mov
Good luck & have fun in India
    Robert

  • Camera Connector functionality minimal with iPod (Video)

Hopefully Apple R&D reads this and acts accordingly to this review as posted in Apple store:

  • Will ipod 4g run the upcoming 5g's games?

I am going to buy ipod touch 4g and i have also heard that ipod touch 5g is about to get released soon.So i am posting this thread for your guidance whether i should wait for ipod 5g or buy ipod 4g.If i bought 4g would it run the upcoming 5g's games and apps?If so please inform because i wish to get the ipod as soon as possible.
    Best Regards.

Apple has not announced any new iPod models. Ergo we have no idea what some future iPod touch might be capable of and whether apps developed for that model would work in earlier models.
In past years, new iPod models have been announced in September. You can make your own guess as to whether that pattern will continue and if so whether or not you wish to wait.
    Regards.
