Future of OO4O

Doesn't seem like Oracle is shipping a 64-bit version of OO4O (Oracle Objects for OLE).
Does anyone know whether the 32-bit verison will continue to be maintained / supported in future releases of Oracle?
Or is it better off to look for other 32-bit database engine alternatives at this point?
If so, any suggestions as to what to replace it with?
Any input will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

That question has been around for a while. When I started using OO4O in 99, there was people asking the same question. I can't say because I don't work for Oracle, but it is a trong product with probably a good load of legacy apps using it, so it should be around for a while.

  • Future of OraOleDb

    Hello All,
Does anyone know if Oracle plans to continue developing OleDb drive for Oracle (OraOleDb)? There seems to be a version of OraOleDb for Oracle 10g Release 2. But will Oracle continue to developing it for future releases or will they deprecate the product and support just ODP.NET only. Also, what is the future of OO4O (Oracle Objects for Ole).
Any insight / information will be helpful.
    Thanks

Oracle Provider for OLE DB is actively supported by Oracle. OraOLEDB 10.2.0.2.20 version has been released recently as part of ODAC 10.2.0.2.20 release with performance improvement and high priority bug fixes.
Oracle Objects for OLE (OO4O) is also actively supported by Oracle.

  • Shifting from OLEDB to OO4O

I'm considering moving from Oracle OLEDB 10.0.4 to OO4O, as far as I read it's faster.
Has anyone done the move already?
    What are the benefits?
Since I have a huge app on top of ASP/IIS using OLEDB what would be the steps to migrate to oo4o?

i just copied the code you asted in to it and the class compiles fine on its own but your main method and class wont work like that without making an instance first

guys: for the more experienced of you - you probably cant be bothered which i guess is fair enough - but if you get 5 mins it might be worth trying o download blue j and have a look some time just to see what its like. Its a massivley used tool in the uk for learning java, they even used it the top top unis for teaching java. Its much different to most ide's as it allows you to interact wih methods directly, has no main method by default etc etc. It may help you be bale to help other students in the future
    just an idea anyway

  • C++ - What is fastest, easiest, most future compatible?

I'm totally new to Oracle and i'm making a MFC program where db query time must be minimal. Also it must be future compatible and since i don't plan on spending much time on the project, easy :) What API/connectivity should i use? ODBC? OCI? OO4O...

Unless you have relatively esoteric needs, your choice of API will probably have little impact on query performance. OCI is the lowest level C API out there (the ODBC driver, OLE DB provider, and OO4O provider are all impleented in OCI), so it theoretically gives you the opportunity to write the most optimal code possible. That also makes it the most complex of the API's and increases the possibility that you'll have a sub-optimal implementation. OCI also underwent an almost total revision between Oracle 7 and Oracle 8, so it is possible that will happen again at some point in the future.
ODBC is a very generic technology, very much the lowest common denomintor. ODBC will likely be around as long as Windows is simply because everything in the world supports it. The ODBC API hasn't been updated in a long time, which is good if you never want to touch the code again. On the other hand, ODBC is probably the least efficient of the options, so if anything is going to cause you performance problems, it is likely to be ODBC. The ODBC API is also rather open to interpretation, so different ODBC drivers may behave slightly differently.
OO4O is an Oracle-specific technology, so you don't get the cross-platform benefits of ODBC. There is less documentation for OO4O, particular from sources other than Oracle, than something like ODBC. OO4O is a relatively new API, so there is always the chance that it is going to undergo revisions over time as Oracle adds support for new features. Since OO4O is Oracle-specific, though, it is potentially the fastest and most feature-rich of the object API's.
    In other words, it's a trade-off.

  • ICal for iPad not showing events more than 2 years in future in Year view

As the subject describes, I can create an appointment more than 2 years into the future.  On my Mac and iPhone I can see the event using any view.  It is also visible in all views on my iPad, except for the year view.  A feature?

Go to the Home screen and double click the Home button. That will reveal the row of recently used apps at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold on the app in question until it wiggles and displays a minus sign. Tap the minus sign to actually quit the app. Then tap anywhere on the screen above that bottom row to return the screen to normal. Then restart the app and see if it works normally.
Then reboot your iPad. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the iPad restart. See if that fixes your problem.

  • Bug? My events on the iPad iCal app aren't shown in the year view if they are more than two years in the future.

My events on the iPad iCal app aren't shown in the year view if they are more than two years in the future even though I can see them on the month, week and day view. Any suggestions on how to fix it? I've tried it all. I called the apple support and they checked on their iPads. They all did the same and they couldn't help me. They suggested trying this way. I'd like to be able to plan a few years ahead and the year view would make thing so easy!
    Is this a bug?

  • ICal Search doesn't find my events in the distant future !!!

Here's a bit of a disturbing one: I use iCal (Leopard, so iCal 3.0.8 1287) to keep track of many things- not just a meeting next week or a TO DO - but also for long-term planning. I wanted to enter a reminder for about December 2016 concerning social security - but first wanted to check if I hadn't already done this. I typed social in the iCal search box and everything through 2009 came up.
But, I said, that's a bit strange since I was almost sure I'd put something into iCal already.
OK so then I went to the date 28 August 2017 (shift-cmd-T) and once there, I did the same search - and voila - my event about "social security" from 17 Nov 2016 showed-up in the serach results section!!! (I later tried going to March 2016 and it worked as well - so seems it has to be within a few months / year from the date-- ?!?)
Went back to another date closer to today (19 May 2010) - it did not show up.
For other searches, some events for April 2010 have showed-up; but nothing 3 years in the future.
For some repeating items I get results showing 2008 - 2011, but never further than that if I start the search on today's date. (I get all events from past dates all the time).
Another "workaround" is that if I type the word social into Spotlight, it finds the 17 Nov 2016 event.
Is this a "bug" that iCal cannot find distant future events? Any comments or other people's experience really appreciated. It's not good, this - (like doing a search on an Excel Spreadsheet and only getting recently dated information or something like that. Not good).
    Appreciate any feedback here.
    Best regards,
    Steve Schulte

  • Provisioning a user in future date

    Hello,
Creating a new user and provisioned to OID work properly.
Now I would like to create a user with start date in the future. OIM when the value USR_START_DATE is on the future it update the USR_PROVISIONING_DATE too on the same future date but not execute the provisioning to OID and the USR_STATUS is "Disabled Until Start Date"
If there any way to update the USR_START_DATE with a different USR_PROVISIONING_DATE and do the provioning as normal and keep USR_STATUS as Active.
    thanks

    Hello again,
    i'm using the Thor.API.Operations.tcUserOperationsIntf.createUser((java.util.Map arg0).
arg0 will contain USR_PROVISIONING_DATE=today date and USR_START_DATE = to the future date.
I apply what your propose and push the USR_PROVISIONING_DATE=today date and put it on the pre-insert in Users form.
sorry it did not work, it change the value in USR_PROVISIONING_DATE to put the USR_START_DATE value and didn't provisioned
    thanks

  • When iTunes upgraded, many of my song tags were changed by iTunes.  This happened again when an update was sent this week.  Is there any way to avoid this happening again in the future?

When I downloaded the new iTunes, it changed the tags on some of my tracks.  As a result, I had to fix them manually.  When I downloaded another upgrade this week, my tags changed again.  How can I prevent this from happening in the future?

The cricual thing is to have a complete backup of your library that you could restore if needed.
What changes are you noticing? There appear to be some new as yet not well documented features designed to sync data across multiple libraries/devices which may have unwanted side effects.

  • IMac hard drive fail - what steps to prevent in future?

I am working on an extensive video editing project on FCP7 on a 2011 iMac with 3.4GHz i7 and 8GB RAM running OSX Lion 10.7.5. I am editing very large pro res video files for a feature-length documentary. All media is stored on external hard drives.
Several times before, my iMac would freeze and not reboot. All times before, resetting the PRAM seemed to solve the problem.
Today, while exporting a 30min sequence, the spinning beachball got stuck. I noticed that Time Machine was running at the time, and I attempted to stop Time Machine in Preferences (it was not yet in process of transferring data--I tried stopping time machine before in a similar manner, and it seemed to speed up my computer). Now the entire computer froze. I manually turned off, and tried to reboot. This time, after holding down Command (⌘), Option, P, and R, nothing happened. I turned off and tried again, and this time the new computer setup screen appeared, and I am attempting to restore from time machine.
How do I know why my iMac HD failed this time, and how do I move forward from here?
Is my iMac HD compromised, or is it some type of software/OS problem?
How do I prevent future crashes/fails?
Should not run any other programs while editing in FCP7? Should I not run Time Machine while editing?
Thank you in advance, and please pray for my time machine full recovery

First, EVERY hard drive will fail.  It's just a question of when.  There's not much you can do to prevent the physical failure of the drive that I know of, besides making sure the computer runs as cool as possible.  IMac's tend to run hot and that's probably gonna have some effect on the life expectancy of the drive.
As far as the problems that can happen which are not related to the physical failure of the drive.
Make sure you keep at least 20% free on your startup drive.
As Mark said, having a bootable clone is a really good idea.  Here's a user tip all about cloning your startup drive.

    NF:
1055401 Subcontracting Returns doesn't find reference Nota Fiscal
    NF-e:
    1175538 NF-e Reference between NF and NF-e
    1238765 NF-e: Returns for Subcontracting - Error 8B287
1257933 NF-e: Reference NF not found by return for subcontracting
    1288925 NF-e: References between NF-e and non NF-e
    1356952 NF-e: Returns for Subcontracting - Error 8B260

    Senhores tenho o seguinte problema:
    O exemplo seria assim:
    Entrega Futura: 100
Remessa Entrega Futura 1: Saldo 100 Quantidade Utilizada 10 Saldo Restante 90
Remessa Entrega Futrua 2: Saldo 90   Quantidade Utilizada 20 Saldo Restante 70

Veja as sugestões abaixo:
    1. Verificar por meio das userexist se o campo está com a quantidade maior que a fatura. Podes usar, por exemplo, a userexit:
    USEREXIT_CHECK_VBAP -> MV45AFZB ou
    USEREXIT_MOVE_FIELD_TO_VBAP -> MV45AFZZ
    2. Bloquear a modificação da quantidade do campo, a userexist USEREXIT_FIELD_MODIFICATION -> MV45AFZZ é uma sugestão para que o campo seja copiado e não modificado o seu valor.
    Espero poder ter ajudado.

    Apenas como informativo :
    - Na MIRO contabiliza corretamente e gera os impostos no livro corretamente;
    - Na MIGO não gera contabilização dos impostos porém na Nota Fiscal os impostos são calculados e destacados corretamente (ICMS, IPI, PIS e
      COFINS);
    - Não utilizo PIS e COFINS no preço (TAXBRA);
    - O principal documento que segui foi o "PIS-COFINS_not_incl_on_net_price" mencionado na nota 1697517;
    - Também já analisei as notas  844630 e 679372;
    /Flavio Marcilio
    Resposta SAP:
    Hi Flavio,
Thank you for contacting SAP Active Global Support.
Unfortunately PIS and COFINS calculation is still not covered for
future delivery in MIGO. However there is a workaround, but only for
TAXBRA. This you can read on note 1697517. Please check the text below
that was taken from that specific note:
    Solution
To enable PIS/COFINS posting at MIGO you should do the customizing
described on article of this link:   (
    http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-5727 )
That said, for you to be able to to use this kind of functionality, it
is necessary to follow the steps on the link above. Just applying note
1697517 won't solve the issue. Please, review all your steps in order
to check if all requisites on the link are applied.
The requested in the message refers to a consulting issue instead of a
    bug or error.

    Atenciosamente,
    Felipe Silveira
