Future of SAP PP

Hi Experts
I would like to know the future of SAP PP module ,will it be safe for anyone to continue with the PP module,or is it going to be phased out by other SAP applications. Can anyone throw light on this?
With Regards
Kumar CH

Hi,
PP is one of the biggest modules.
You have to master the entire planning process which includes SOP, Demand management , MRP, MPS, LTP, Capacity planning etc
The second phase is the execution of the manufacturing/production process which includes:
Discrete with production orders
Repetitive with planned orders( RSQ)
Process industry with process orders.
Of course other than this it is closely linked with QM and MM and of course the most imp ie product costing.
The above mentioned was the core ie R/3 or ECC as we call it now.
If you have advanced knowledge of the core module then you can learn APO.So PP will be always there as other core modules.
As per Certification and placement is concerned it is very difficult nowadays to get placement w/o prior SAP experience .
Certification alone will not take you through even if you do it from Siemens or Genovate.I am telling you this because I have personal experience in this regard.

  • Future of SAP CRM

    Hello Friends,
I need a very sincere advice with the help of this forum and would really appreciate the SAP folks to open-up and provide your best futuristic and honest suggestion
    My Background
I have a total of 7.5 years of experience that includes 6 years of SAP presales support activity. Now when I say presales as you all know it stars from LEAD QUALIFICATION and ends to LEAD CONVERSION  and the capacity of work that is involved between these two word is enormous. So far my professional career got totally engrossed into RFPs, RFIs, RFQs proposal preparation, SOW preparation, estimation, client presentation, case study, defining GTM strategy, coordination between different teams (Infra, COE, Sales, Legal.....). Though this role has given me lots of knowledge on the domain (manufacturing, retail, utility, consumer goods...) as well as SAP (ECC, SRM, SCM, CRM, BI/BW.....) but what I think if I can combine my current experience (I call it as domain) with real time project experience in some module of SAP; then it will add more value and wattage to my CV as well as my future career path.
    My Thoughts
I am sure there are many professionals like me who have chosen this kind of path for his/her career, but the biggest question comes WHERE ARE WE HEADING TO!!!!!!! --a sales professional, or Bid manager or an account manager there on to practice heads and so on. The answers is yes these could be an option but to be a good solution architect or AM/BM in SAP space i think it is important to be well versed with one of the modules in combination with domain.
    Future of SAP
We all know the future of SAP is heading from CAPEX to OPEX market which mean CLOUD is / going to be HOT CAKE for its customer, then comes some of the emerging technology like CLOUD COMPUTING, HANA, Mobility SucessFactors, HADOOP etc. I am sure people will agree that in every human the wisdom teeth comes only after certain age but that doesn't conclude with the downfall of all other 32 teeth and in my opinion so is SAP. With these emerging technologies the backbone of SAP R/3 will continue to exist.
    My Questions
The next important aspect comes what combination of modules should a professional like me choose to gain project experience and what is its future/milestone because these days we have been hearing a lot of new technology within SAP space. Please suggest from the below list which I thought could be the probable options
    SAP CRM Functional
    SAP SD
    SAP SD+CRM
SAP SCM (APO, DP, SNP, GATP, PPDS)
    SAP IS Retail
Please share your thoughts and suggestion and I am sure it will definitely add value in my decision. I appreciate your thoughts in anticipation

  • What is the future of SAP Functional Consultant?

    Helo All.
Can anyone guide me regarding the future of SAP Functional consultants in the wake of impending technologies such as eSOA, Netweaver?
How these new technologies will change dynamics of job market for functional consultants especially MM and SD?
What new skills will be required by functional consultants?
    Regards.

    Hi Anay,
Future of SAP Will Remain Same as of what we have now. Coz Somany Companies Converting To SAP Hugely. And the Core Modules like MM,SD,FI. Will have their Own Significance and will Have the Same Impact what we have now.
SO Dont Worry About New Technologies. New Technologies will Helps to the Companies to get the Best From Technical Prospective also Helps to the Functional.
I Dont Think These New technologies Will Change the Functional Market.
As a Consultant it is better to have knowledge and expert in multiple modules. Nowadays Companies are hireing Multi Specal Functional Consultants.
SO Dont Worry About The Things.
    Regards,
    Praveen Kumar.

  • Future of SAP MDM

    Hi Experts
I would like to know the future of SAP MDM module ,will it be safe for anyone to continue with the MDM module,or is it going to be phased out by other SAP applications. Can anyone throw light on this?
    With Regards
    Manoj

    Hi Manoj,
If you look at the current market situation. Not just SAP-MDM but also other technolgies are facing the challenge to survive.
The market is going through a lot of instabilty and downtime and not many customer are willing to take risks with their money and work.
The only difference that stands between SAPMDM and others is that MDM is now in its initial stages. It still has to mature as afull fledge solution for customers.
and with the MDM 7.1 release it has taking a good kick start and is still improvising and developing iwth every hotfix and patch.
But reatining the fact the Customers are still very unsure of MDM's results they are not ready to take that easy plunge at this point of time which is making MDM are slow runner.
But if you look closely with what MDM can deliver with the latest MDM 7.1 version and the business problems the companys are facing with their master data especially in a time of mergers and acquistions.SAP MDM will rise as Precise effective and unavoidable solution for customers.
So in my prespective the future of MDM is bright in the long run.
    Hope It Helped
    Thanks & Regards

  • Future of SAP NetWeaver Portal besides Duet Enterprise!!!

What about the future of SAP NetWeaver Portal when you have Duet Enterprise? I think it would be a strategic collapse of SAP NetWeaver Portal while Sharepoint portal is running in Parallel. I can't see both portal running in parallel. From end users perspective, Sharepoint portal acceptability would be more high as far as UI and Microsoft services are concerned.
    Discussion is required.

    Hi Ghazanfar,
Duet 1.5 is still supported by both SAP and Microsoft. However, no more features will be developed on top of Duet 1.5. Keeping this in mind -- and also the fact that Duet 1.5 offered quite "static" scenarios (you cannot really enhance / modify anything) I would very much recommend to consider Duet Enterprise.
Right now Duet Enterprise does offer some scenarios out of the box but we already see a lot of partners jumping on Duet Enterprise and developing their own scenarios on top. In addition to that SAP & Microsoft are also currently planning to develop additional content on top of Duet Enterprise.
Using SharePoints BCS functionality you can also integrate Microsoft Outlook with Duet Enterprise. For example in the Starter Services that are available with Duet Enterprise we showcase how you can synchronize ERP contacts without any coding into Outlook. Obviously more fancy UIs will also require coding. But the fact is -- you can do it. If something is not as you like it, you can modify / adjust it.
So having said that I would clearly recommend to use Duet Enterprise instead of Duet 1.5 -- even if you have already SAP NetWeaver Portal running.
    Regards,
    Holger.

  • The Future of SAP HCM and New Podcast Series

There is a new monthly podcast series focused on SAP HCM and I thought that may be of interest to forum members. We would love to get your thoughts (in comment section) on who you would like to see as a guest as well as topics for us to cover.
    /people/jarret.pazahanick/blog/2011/09/28/the-future-of-sap-hcm-and-new-podcast-series

    Freddie,
As many SAP clients had reached a maturity level to archive their structured(DB data) & unstructured (Document data) OpenText is better option.
Yes, as Deepak Quoted xECM provides many features like:
360° View on SAP and non-SAP content
Collaboration between SAP and non-SAP user
Business user efficiency with multiple user frontends
End to End Content Lifecycle Management
ECM Consolidation on a single platform
Records Management for SAP & non-SAP content
    Legacy Decommissioning
    Optimize IT & reduce TCO
    Access to Content anywhere/anytime
    Faster processes with SAP Workflow
    Eliminate Paper Inefficiencies
    Disaster Protection of Content
    Secure long-term Storage
While SAP DMS has it is own merits xECM MAY win.
    Thanks,

  • Future with SAP

    Hi,
I am exploring the option to build my carrier in SAP analyst/consultant field. I have more than 5 years of experience of sales and business management in automotive industry.
At the same time I have worked on or used SAP as a business user for these 5 years.
I am quiet conversant with the business process, material movement, orders/approval flows etc.
I have the desire and will but I am looking for some answers to convenience myself that it will be a good decision to move in this direction financially and in terms of career growth also. It would be a big help if you could answer the questions below, before I make my final decision. I would request you SAP Gurus to please guide me.
Some of the agencies (AtoS and some others) I have got in touch with to discuss this certification have suggested doing SAP SD or MM certification, keeping my experience in view. If I do it what is your guess how soon I could find a job with this certification.
What kind of salary will I be able to attract if I do get a job. Currently I am getting good salary by auto industry standards (around $15K). As per the information I have got the starting salaries in these roles are some times less than half of what I am getting now.
Finally how fast is the growth in this industry? Let us say I do the certification spend some $500 and join a company with salary less than half of my current. After doing this, as per your experience how soon will I be able to reach or exceed the salary I would have been getting otherwise (assume I perform fairly well in my SAP role ;-).
So finally should I go ahead with the certification?
Rather than an instinctive one, I want to make a well thought over, planned and fairly well estimated decision. I am looking forward to your valuable answers.
    Thanks

  • Future of SAP Modules

    Hi Guys,
This is very different from the regular discussion topics i suppose. To get a brighter picture, i would like to know from experts as to how the future holds for all SAP modules. How will be the growth for the following modules.
    1. BW (BPS from BW 3.5)
    2. SEM
    3. CRM
    4. APO
    5. Enterprise Portals
    Could everyone give their feedback.
    Regards.

    Hi,
    > a) Is it a must for us to upgrade to the core EHP5 without activating the functional switch ?
It's not mandatory to upgrade to EHP5.
    > b) can we opt to stay in the current version of ECC 6.0 with the latest support package level ?
Yes, you can stay at ECC 6.0.
    > c) what are the advantage of moving on to the core EHP5 without activation of new functionalities ?
On technical side there are not much advantages but if you comparing from functional side then EHP5 has a lot new functionality. You can compare ECC 6.0 with EHP5 on the below link with respect to different areas:
    http://solutionbrowser.erp.sap.fmpmedia.com/
    > c) What are the implication in terms of future expansion of SAP modules (e.g. BPM etc) onto ECC6.0 ?
    > d) is the EOS for ECC 6.0 still remains as 2015 (even with the latest support package level applied ?)
    >
Yes, EOS is still same. Same you can check at PAM at SMP.
    Thanks
    Sunny

  • Future of SAP SRM -MM

    Hello SRM Gurus ,
Please clarify ... Do you think SAP SRM will replace MM in future or MM will be still avaialable.
As SAP taken over Frictionless do you think the next version of SRM will be integrated product with Frictionless and MM

    Hi Naveen,
for a manual on replication of material master data from R/3 to SRM please refer to the ConfigGuide Self Service Procurement on service.sap.com/instguides.
    (Chapter Data replication).
when I wrote "dummy vendor" I only thought of the catalog.
The easiest way (which is not the best way for process) on how to integrate your material master to a catalog would be an own catalog of your (backend) material master. For importing the catalog you would need a supplier ID in the catalog system. This would be your company.
The disadvantage of this solution: The users will find a material at least twice.
Once in the catalog of the supplier(s) and once in your "stock material catalog".
Thus it would be better if you could find a person who is able to match vendor master data with your material master data in order to enhance vendor catalogs with the number of your material master.
Perhaps your purchasing department prefers another solution:
Diminishing material master data and work with contracts of product categories (without product ID).
    Hope it helps.
    Regards,
    Felix
