  • Multi-core processor support?

    Hi, I was looking for multiple core processor support on the AIR runtime but found no information... What about it? Does the runtime take advantage of it automatically? If not, are there some guidelines to create software for AIR that can take advantage of this?

    It is automatic. You only have one execution "thread" in AIR, but the runtime uses multiple threads under the covers. Note that Pixel Bender shaders do run on another thread, so that is one way to offload some heavy graphics or numeric processing (if it can be done in a shader program).

  • Photoshop Element 7 Multi Processor Support?

    Will we have multiprocessor support across the entire feature set of PSE 7? I haven't seen that as part of the feature set of the new product. Today, we experience diminished functionality by having to turn off multi-processor support in order to get thumbnails to work. Just curious if that might have been included in the new product.

    Paul posted his query before PSE 7 was released, but for future reference of people searching these forums:
    PSE 7 fixes the notorious bug in PSE 6 in which thumbnails for raw photos were not correctly displayed on computers with multiple processors (e.g. hyperthreaded Pentiums or dual- or quad-core Duos).

  • Multi-processor support!

    I must say that the only feature that will make me upgrade ever again from CS4 (or even to upgrade my MacPro) would be full multi-processor support.
    Unfortunately, Adobe has been introducing new features that turn out to be imperfect and NEVER get updated or fixed any more.
    Hoping for CS5 to come through!

    You're right. What I meant was FULL multi-processor support.
    Like saving and opening files, especially when saving large, multi-layered 16 bit files. Just tested it again - a file that is 2.91GB when opened in photoshop (which any file I work on typically is) takes 42 seconds to save as an 8 bit file and (after deleting layers to make it the same 2.91GB when open in photoshop in 16 bit format) takes 5min and 20 seconds to save in 16 bit while the activity monitor shows only one processor being utilized.
    I would like to work more in 16 bit but it's not practical now as it takes too long for just the saving part.
    At least it should be non-modal so that you could work on another image while others are being saved and/or opened.
    There are also a few filters that do not use multiple processors - like the lens blur filter, which works amazingly well but makes me take a coffee break every time I use (especially when used with a large blur amount).

    I bought Hetis 865G GIGA Barebone. It do not work with Intel Celeron processors - the mainboard can't initialize with Celeron. • Multi processor support Win 7 HP

    Dear experts,
    I'm running a Mac Pro 2 x 2,8 quad core (8 cores in total) and installed Win7 Home premium-64 in a Bootcamp partition. Everything runs fine, except that I noticed that Win 7 does not make use of the 2 processors. It's only seeing 1 processor (4 cores) and as a result, Geekbech shows half the performance I get when running OS-X Lion.
    Is there a way to get WIN7 looking at the other processor also?
    Your help greatly appreciated!
    Ruud

    Hi Hatter,
    The only reason I installed Win7 on my Mac is to support a single application, my Tacx VR home trainer software. I never would have guessed that supporting a home trainer would require a professional edition of Windows.
    Microsoft build the support for multiple processors in Win professional but decided to remove that from the HP version. That is what I call crippling and I think that this is a ridicules decision. Not only driver problems will be an extra bonus when using Windows, even the operating system itself is not supporting your hardware to the fullest.
    I would like to see the chart you are referring to. I could only find a lot of misleading information on this subject. I could even find a Win 7 spec sheet that told me that the HP version offered support for 2 processors!
    Regards, Ruud

  • LMS 4.2 Xeon processor support

    Does LMS 4.2 support Intel Xeon X7560 processor in Hyper-V environment?

    LMS is supported on Hyper-V but we haven't seen many installations on that platform.
    The documentation is a little bit ambiguous on this particular question but generally speaking LMS is not particular about the hardware underlying the OS as long as it meets or exceeds the minimum requirements.

  • Processor supported only rgb and yuv videoformat

    Hi All,
    I install JMF2.1.1 to my Debian Linux from performance pack. (There is an error on install bin at line 267: tail +309 $0>$outname need to change tail -n +309 $0>$outname ).
    After setup and set CLASSPATH and LD_LIBRARY_PATH, I try to use jmf. When I get supported codec with:
                List l = PlugInManager.getPlugInList(null, null, PlugInManager.CODEC);there are 48 installed codec forexample h261,h263,jpeg and so on.
    When I create a Processor there are only 29 supported videoformat: 28 RGB and 1 YUV.
    I need monitoring support, and I use MonitorCDS based on JVidCap example.
    How can I make "supported" h263 codec to my Processor?
    here is my code:
            try {
                this.processor = Manager.createProcessor(this.monitorCDS);
                this.processor.addControllerListener(this);
                this.processor.configure();
                if (!this.waitForState(this.processor, Processor.Configured)) {
                    throw new Exception("Configure of processor error");
                this.processor.setContentDescriptor(new FileTypeDescriptor(FileTypeDescriptor.QUICKTIME));
                TrackControl tcs[] = this.processor.getTrackControls();
                VideoFormat target = new H263Format();
                Format f;
                for (TrackControl tc : tcs) {
                    for (Format sf : tc.getSupportedFormats()) {
                        if (target.matches(sf)
                                && (f = target.intersects(sf)) != null
                                && tc.setFormat(f) != null) {
                            tc.setFormat(sf);
                this.processor.realize();
                if (!waitForState(this.processor, Processor.Realized)) {
                    throw new Exception("Realize of processor error");
                }My datasource is coming from v4l4j its supports an RGBformat:
            new RGBFormat(new Dimension(640,320), 640*320*3,
                                Format.byteArray,  DEF_FRAME_RATE,
                                24, 1, 2, 3, 3, 640*3, VideoFormat.FALSE,
                                Format.NOT_SPECIFIED);thx
    Zamek

    hello,
    I have no source of jmf, but I have fmj source and I try to compare v4l4j datasource to jmfsample.media.protocol.live.DataSource and LiveStream.
    Both of them create videoformat i LiveStream:
            rgbFormat = new RGBFormat(size, maxDataLength,
                    Format.byteArray,
                    frameRate,
                    24,
                    1, 2, 3,
                    3, size.width*3,
                    VideoFormat.FALSE,
                    Format.NOT_SPECIFIED);Both of them set to LENGTH_UNKNOWN at getContentLength();
    And there is no more UNKNOWN or UNSPECIFIED value in this code.
    Here is the source, if you interesting:

  • Is My Pentium P4 Processor Supported?

    I recently tried to upgrade my processor but it will not boot.
    I have an MSI 845GEMax motherboard and my current processor is a Pentium 4 1.8ghz 512 Cache 533 FSB.  I tried installing a new P4 2.8ghz 1MB L2-Cache 533 FSB processor.  I also have 256mb RAM and I'm installing an additional 256mb's.  When I powered up the machine, it would not boot.  I reinstalled the original CPU and left the new memory installed and everything came up fine.
    I have two basic questions.
    1.  In my CPU upgrade instructions it didn't mention if I should upgrade my bios before doing the cpu install.  Is a bios upgrade necessary to support this CPU?  Should I update my bios?
    2.  In checking the MSI website I found two different CPU designation for my Pentium processor.  One is called Northwood and one is called Prescott.  I don't know what these "names" mean or if it's important, but only one appears to be certified with my motherboard even though the "specifications" for the processor are identical.  Can anyone help explain the differences?
    Last but not least, what else could be wrong?
    Thanks in advance for your help!

    Bingo,  thanks for the extra research.  When I click on CPU supported, basically it looks like this mother board doesn't support any (or very few) Prescott CPU's although I don't know why.  I'm going to send an email query to MSI technical support and see why this CPU isn't supported and ask if it will ever be supported.  I guess in the meantime I'm going to have to return the CPU I purchased and pay the penalty.
    Thanks again for your VERY quick response and help!  Now I know why they call a PC the Personal Confuser.

  • Quad core processors support in w550s model

    Are there any plans to support quad core processors in w550s model and when to expect it if such plans exist?

    The ThinkPad W550s is a model that uses low voltage processors, which means dual core processors only. For quad cores you need to look at either the W540 or W541.

  • Can my Intel DP965LT motherboard Core2 Duo Processor support / intsall for Mac OX S 10.6 snow leopard?

    Hi, I have intel DP965LT Motherboard, Core2 duo processor with Nvidia Geforce 9600 graphic card now. I would like to install Mac OS X Snow Leopard v10.6. Can my intel spec support Mac OS X Snow Leopard / Lion version?
    Please guide me, thanks !

    We can't advise how to install OS X onto a Windows PC.
    It's against the EULA to install OS X onto anything but a Apple Macintosh computer.
    It is possible and there are websites dedicated to teaching you how, but it's a real pain and you have to trust unknown sources for your software to do so.
    Then there is the probem of third party software, as OS X evolves and changes, developers attempt to keep up and drop older versions of their software.
    Also Apple drops support for older OS X versions and only provides updates via AppleID on newer ones, so your now getting your security fixes from unknown sources instead of from Apple directly.
    So it's a short term hobby I'd say you would have another year, then your seriously left behind unless you buy a real Mac and with OS X installed.
    If your running Windows XP, Windows 7 is a nice piece of work and Windows 8 Pro can be downgraded to Windows 7.
    With Windows you get support for a decade, so Windows 7 will get support until 2020.
    Apple's OS X changes every year or two, so your constantly changing your machine to keep up, so you won't find any peace running OS X on a PC.
    Good Luck

  • Top Processors supported on 3000 N100 768-04U

    Can anyone confirm the fastest processor I would be able to put in this system?
    It currently has a T2060 processor.
    I would like to go all the way to the t7200 if it will work...
    thanks
    --tmac

    It seems that the N100 utilizes either the 945GM or 945PM chipset. If that's the case, you should be able to go up to the Core 2 Duo T7600 [2.33GHz]. However, you may experience elevated operating temperatures as the T7600 consumes more power than the Pentium Dual Core T2060.
    **Please confirm the chipset with CPU-Z.
    If you are looking for increased performance, a 7200RPM hard drive would be ideal.
