Fuzzy playback in monitor

When playing back video during editing,my picture is fuzzy inside of Premier and my HD monitor (TV). And titles look like crap.
Bu,t when I pause the playback everything including the titles looks great.
Everything burns to Bluray fine though, just the playback during the editing process.  Any ides?
Using PPcc2014.0
Win 7 64bit
Dual Xeon quad core

Nvidia Qudro K2000D

Check your playback resolution, it is probably set to 1/2 or 1/4 or less.  I usually cut at a lower res to avoid rendering.

  • FCP7 with snow leopard - choppy playback in monitor

Ive been fine running fcp6 with a jvc 1080 hd monitor connect via DVI from my MBP duo intel 2.4 (4 gigs ram)
its not the fastest setup but its been fine.
ive noticed my playback into my monitor is always choppy now since upgrade to fcp7 and snow lep. i have it set as DIGITAL CINEMA DESKTOP PREVIEW- FULL SCREEN, when i set displays to mirror and use DIGITAL CINEMA DESKTOP PREVIEW - MAIN it plays smooth and normal. any ideas?

I am finding actually, that playback is smoother when moving my cursor along the timeline when a simply zoom in on the timeline. Does that make sense to you guys?

  • Fuzzy hdtv external monitor

I've had this problem a while but its really getting on my nerves.  I have a 37" hdtv as an external monitor for my window desktop.  Every once in a while I want to use it with my macbook pro - when I initially did this everything worked fine.  Then a while ago I was playing with the settings and changed something, might have been overscan or something like that, cant really remember.  Now the hdtv looks "fuzzy" the picture quality is really bad.  I've tried changing all of the settings in system preferences as well as resetting some options.  The infuriating thing is if I rotate the screen 90, 180, or 270 degrees the picture quality is great again, but of course its upside down so it is not useable.  When I switch back to normal orientation it is fuzzy again.
any suggestions on what I can do to get good picture quality again?

never mind, user error. Needed to push the auto-adjust button on the monitor itself.

  • T500 swtichable fuzzy on external monitor

    Hi,
I have a T500 and trying switchable graphics, just updated all of the drivers. I use a samsung syncmaster 931b monitor attached to a lenovo docking station.
When I use high performance graphics, it works great. When I switch to the intel energy saving, everything becomes fuzzy. Looks like the resolution is correct, 1280x1024. The only thing unusual is that under advanced settings, the monitor tab says generic pnp monitor, like it doesn't know what type it is.
But even if so, you would think this is such a simple monitor to make crisp. Anyone seen this or any ideas on what to try?
    Thank you!

  • Elements 3.0.2 jumpy video playback in monitor

i am using premiere elements 3.0.2 and get really bad jumpy video in the monitor window. this is for very short mpeg4 clips that play beautifully in other media players on my laptop e.g. zune software - so this is NOT a computer hardware issue.
i am using an xacti camera that shoots 720p hd at 30fps and i have set all the project settings correctly - i am shooting 720p at a high bit rate.
any clues on what is causing the jumpiness?
    thanks
    andrew

i rendered a section of the timeline using the enter key - that gave me smooth playback. it's disappointing that premiere 3 wont play mpeg4 hd smoothly without this.
next i outputed the whole project to mp2. i am not clear why it wouldn't allow me to output to an mp4 hd format. what i am finding is that this software has tons of limitations with respect to editing hd
    in mp4.
any clues on whether 7.0 is improved in this department?

  • Playback in monitor drops frames

    Hi,
I am using Adobe Premiere Elements 2.0. I am editing MPG files shot on my camcorder, I can import these successfully but the playback in the main monitor window drops more frames than it actually displays. The sound is fine, just the video causes problems.
The file that is output plays back perfectly, as does the original footage when viewed in Windows Media, it just makes editing difficult when you can not see the footage frame by frame during playback.
Why does this happen and is there a solution?
    Thanks in advance,
    Rob.

Rendering previews only helps if you export to DV-AVI and uncheck the "always render" option.
It's easy enough to prove that it doesn't help when exporting to DVD. Take a short clip and put it on the timeline twice. Increase the brightness of the second clip slightly so you can distinguish it from the first clip. Now render a preview. Two preview files will be created. Now exit out of Premiere Elements. Use Windows Explorer to swap the names of the two preview files. Now go back into Premiere Elements and load the project. The green line is still there, but now the second brighter clip is in the first position. Now export to DVD and you will see that the rendered files were not used to create the DVD because the brighter clip is in the second position. The rendered files were completely ignored.

  • Problem while playback in monitor

    Hi everybody,
I just installed and updated Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 and I'm having such a problem!
When I import movie clips in my timeline, I just can't see the picture in the principal monitor but I can hear sound.
I have a AVCHD camcorder (Panasonic AG-HMC70P) and my computer is brand new (Dual core e8400 @ 3Ghz, 4 GB RAM, 500 GB HD and GForce 8555GT 512 MB).
I also tried to import an old video that I made last year (a simple DV format) and it does the same thing.
    I'm using Premiere CS4.0.1
Can someone help me please. I really need to make my movie in the next days.
    Thanks for all,
    Bruno

Sherlock is providing a false error. The error results from these codecs being added in the Windows registry with quote marks around them - the usual for such things is no quote marks. This does not create any functional problem with the codecs. You will see that Sherlock is saying that the file is not found (and it is looking for a name in quotes). Note that the codec list available in GSpot reports the same false error.
One of the original messages I posted on this is no longer available (in the Encore forum changes), so I am restating the details here. My guess has been that this registry style was introduced in CS3 (it does not occur in CS2), and based on your results appears to still be true in CS4.
The location of the correct codecs is in the main directory for each program (e.g. PPro CS3, Encore CS3, each has each codec they need in their directory - for me c:\program files\adobe\adobe premiere pro cs3 etc.). I think someone once confirmed my suspicion that adobe is not looking at the Directshow merit ratings for the encoder to use. I really don't know.
The "DirectShow Filter Utility" lists these codecs out of alphabetical order (due to the quote marks), but correctly indicates that they are installed. Be careful, it allows you to change things!

When I reported this about April 2008, I found no references to this in the forums or the adobe support searches, and only one reference elsewhere, so I entered a bug report. Because it does not impair functionality, I do not believe it is classed as a "known issue."

  • Mirror 2 Mirror--vertical lines during DVD player playback on Monitor 2

I have a gateway 22 inch and a RCA TV 40 inch. When I mirror to the RCA durring dvd playback i will see lines ONLY on the DVD window. It slowly scrolls. If i DO NOT mirror and just move the Player over from the gateway screen to the RCA screen, the Lines do not appear during playback. I want to mirror for my clients to see my VIDEO work on the Large TV..but it looks poor when I have slow moving vertical lines. How can I fix this? The vertical lines are ONLY in the DVD player window..the desktop part does not have the lines scrolling.

Well, I tried that on a section, and I'm afraid it may have been worse than I had originally.  These are the settings in Compressor that I tried.  Am I still getting something wrong?

  • Problems with playback in monitor

My project plays for a few seconds and then suddenly stops. I have to hit the space bar again to get it to start up again, but it doesn't go for long before it stops again. The same happens whether it's on automatic quality or highest quality. I have rendered the full movie, so that's not the problem.
The project is only 13 minutes long. Is it possible that the .mov file has some wrong settings? I've been having problems capturing video straight into Premiere Pro (problems with audio), so I've had to capture into iMovie, then "share" it with expert settings into a .mov file. However, I may have some of those "expert" settings wrong (since I'm not an expert).
I appreciate any suggestions you might have.
    -yvonne

You're the one with the camera.  I suggest some tests - shoot the same few scenes at various bitrates and watch them directly on a properly calibrated HDTV.  This will give you some direct observations about quality differences between bitrates.
My own viewpoint is that there really is no point to any camera using GOP compression.  It's just a bad idea from the start, so if one has issues using such a camera, I see that as "caveat emptor" situation.
I'm not aware of any official announcement from Adobe on the full list of what will be updated/corrected/fixed with 4.1, but my guess (and it is purely a guess) would be no.  I'm inclined to believe this is primarily a horsepower problem.

  • Program monitor during playback in always in focus; preventing effects panel or mixer to be seen

    Dear Premiere CC users:
It must have been some recent update for premiere pro (a "bug fixes" one), which changed how Premiere works now.
I use 2 monitors where one is full screen preview, and another is for whole application. On that second monitor I used to have workspace organized in a way that NO program monitor was shown. I used to have effect panel / audio mixer + project files + effect controls always shown. Source monitor was triggered when I doubleclicked a clip, program monitor I had always hidden behind, because I have another full screen monitor for program.
Now when I playback program monitor is instantly pulled in front and I cant have mixer engaged, or any other windows in same panel. If I close the program monitor I loose picture on fullscreen monitor too. I don't want to see program monitor in my primary display where premiere GUI sits; only on external display, on second display. But from some update on, this is not possible anymoore.
Now if I want to have external full screen preview, a regular program monitor is always visible too. It is not needed, annoying, and it takes space on GUI area for other frequent needed things; like effects, or mixer. Shure it is good option to have it on a small laptop lcd, but annoying on a 2 big LCD setup.
Does anybody know how to change this back?
Many thanks for opinions or help.
PS: Right now I'm using a workaround: I pulled program monitor from main panel, and put it in panel with volume meter and reduced it's size to 1 x 1 cm - so It is almost invisible and does not steal too much my GUI real estate. But It seems that I have less smooth playback on external display now when program is played back on 2 screens simultaneously, than before.

I worked with almost all major big NLE products, and once I was hired at local studio with Premiere 6.0/6.5. It was nightmare compared to big ones from that time. But I personaly use and love Premiere PRO from version 1 (e.g. Premiere 7) on. I have tons of stories of broken projects on so many ways. So custom workspaces are jus a drop in to the ocean. As I love it, I cant admire some very old programming solution on what Premiere is based on. But regardles I lasted with Adobe for longer than decade now.
I live with all errors and fight with them by backuping projects in hundred of instances and with splitting project on smaller blocks - e.g. intro, reception, wedding, first dance... I always export finished part of feature in several needed formats and save whole project via "project manager" too. Than I have backup of all that of at least 2 times (3 for projects). I always save original files from camera too.
Regarding updates: We are not used from Adobe to have ANY updates or bug fixes to their products before just new wersion was released. We cursed that hundreds of times. Now they update more than Microsoft. And we are unhappy of that either.
Just today I learned, that some update might change the behaviour of marker placement with "*" on timeline... weird. Sometimes markers are added as clip markers, sometimes as timeline - as I was used to. I must dig into it...
    regards.

  • RMBP CUDA Playback Serious Issues/Glitches

Just purchased a new rMBP and am running Premiere 6.0.2 and with CUDA 5.0.45 installed.  Here are the system specs:
    - 756gb SSD
    - 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7
    - 16 GB Ram
    - NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB
    - OS X 10.8.3
I'm experiencing serious playback issues and crashes in premiere on both internal and exteranal display with both CUDA or OpenCL enabled.  With CUDA playback the monitor window turns black, freezes white, or gets replaced with content from other windows that are open.  It generally works great for a few minutes when I first open premiere, but then everything wigs out.  The timeline and audio will play, but no video shows up.  This generally causes the source window to freeze up as well.  In OpenCL, both the windows turn into digital glitching as soon as I open up premeire.  This has happened while testing RED 4k as well as Canon 5D MKiii 1080 footage.  The only way premiere is running smoothly is through the software only mercury playback.  I've disabled graphics switching, etc. and tried any fixes I've found so far, but no luck.
Here's another link to a similar forumn on Creative Cow that is discussing the same issue I'm having.
    http://forums.creativecow.net/thread/3/930479
Any info would be awesome.  I have another few days to decided if I want to keep the computer or not with a full refund from Apple, so I'm trying to resolve any issues.

  • I've got a monitor that freezes while the canvas plays.  Suggestions?

No cracks please about editing indoors...
Not sure what's causing this. Have read through earlier posts. Still nothing, so here goes...
I'm running FCP 5.0.4 on the G5, now at 10.4.4. and just recently I've started to have my external monitor freeze on playback in the Canvas. When I stop the playback, the monitor unfreezes to give me a still frame where I stopped the playback. This doesn't happen on all timelines played back... just some.
I'm sure if it's a setting issue, but don't know where to start without causing more issues...
    Any ideas? Thanks.

You need to tell us a little more about your setup. Are you generally working with DV with either a camera or deck or firewire interface between your computer and the video monitor?
If so, odds are that your sequence settings are not DV, or that the sequence is ntsc while your system is pal (or vice versa).

  • Which Playback Setting for 1080P

    Right setup is:
    Blackmage Decklink HD
    Final Cut Studio 2
    External Monitor connected through HD-SDI
    Footage XDCAM-EX 1080P 25fps
My question is purely to do with External Playback. The sequence we are editing in is fine because we just match settings.
So in External Playback Settings which one do we choose from the List.
    We normally shoot 1080 50i - so i normally choose "Blackmagic HDTV 1080i 25hz 10bit 1920 x 1080" and all works fine.
However I want to choose a progressive setting to make sure playback on monitor is perfect but there doesn't seem to be an equivalent setting in the presets.
There are 1080P settings but they aren't 25hz but 24 and 23.xxx settings which when we choose means the monitor will only show a still. Which normally indicates and incompatible mode.
At the moment we are using the 1080i setting and it looks pretty good but "appears" to be a little motion blurred which i assume is the incorrect interlacing setting.
Any help would be much appreciated.. and do let me know you need more information.
    Cheers
    Rob

Thanks for the reply guys much apprecaited.. the monitory we are using is a Sony LMD2450. Which I hope is a nice monitor as it cost enough and lets us view at full pixels. We are connected to it using HD-SDI
    http://www.sony.co.uk/biz/view/ShowProduct.action?product=LMD-2450W
Glad we have the correct setting for Blackmagic and think any slight weirdness in movement was us just expecting there to be some because of the setting.
Sorry to ask another question but is there any good tutorials about setting up a monitor to work with FCP eg. for Colour Correction applications...
    Cheers and thanks again

  • GTX 480, The Hack, Cross Dissolve freezes playback.

Still experimenting with Canon T2i footage in CS5 with MPE set to recognize my GTX 480 (latest beta driver).
Two clips butted up, cross-dissolve layed over them--line is yellow.
Upon playback, source monitor freezes when transition is reached.
Footage is located on my fastest mobo raid.
i7 930, 12gb RAM, not overclocked (first attempt failed).
    Kind of a bummer.

Have you updated to 5.0.1? There was a bug in 5.0 where two butted clips, instantes from the same clip in the project window frooze up with cross dissolves.

  • Monitoring & controller options via hardware?

I have this msi gnb max motherboard
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=387
The Fuzzy logic software monitors some fan speed. What fan speed does it actually monitor? Are there slots on the mobo so I can hook up my fans which can display/tell me the RPM for each fan? I also have a Thermaltake butterfly 480W PSU which also has somemitoring, & controlling options. Can I do the same, hook it to the motherboard?
Following the link to the mobo website, I have all the optional accesories. The trouble is my system looks clutterd from the inside, & I cannnot use the last PCI slot due to the wires curling at the area. Here are some pics of the D-bracket, S-bracket, firewire, bluetooth, etc.

Can I place them upfront at the 5 1/4' drive bays? What is the fuinction of the D-braket monitoring if it lights up at the back?
Also another function is the PC alert 4, It measures things that I am not sure. Anyone knows what it does? Anyway to change the display from using the application to using some front panel with monitoring capabilities? If so which one do you suggest? Thanks.

If I understand you correctly you want to send SNMP traps regarding AP status to a 3rd party NMS from a WiSM instead of a 4400 WLC, right?
If so, the WiSM is effectively two 4400 WLCs in module format. It shares the same configuration options, though there are some small differences.
In regards to SNMP they have the same options. You can define the UP/DOWN/ASSOC/DISASSOC states among other things. Mind you however that at least since 7.0.116.0 there is a discrepancy between the ASSOC and DISASSOC trap as they are in different MIBs, of which the one with the ASSOC trap is not up to date.
The WCS itself is nothing more than another trap destination for a WLC next to 3rd party NMS.
