Fuzzy Text

I have created a pdf from Jpegs produced in Photoshop but the text appears blurry in the PDF
Font is didot.
What is the best way to output from photoshop for pdfs.
They are for use on the web and for e-mail despatch
cheers
Brandon

No argument, Aandi. I don't set type in Photoshop unless it's large in size, small in quantity and in need of some Effect.
But the fact is, unless the user actually performs an operation that rasterizes the type, a PDF Saved from Photoshop really DOES retain the type as vectors AND includes the fonts... it doesn't convert to outlines. This is even true (believe it or not) using the Smallest File Size PDF preset.

  • Blurry fuzzy text

    Hello,
I'm having an interesting problem with text. Using a slide
from the Captivate 2 sample movie, titled Soft-Skills Sample.cp,
when I type new text onto one of the slides in a transparent text
caption it looks blurry when I play the movie. However, when I type
new text onto that same slide in a different text box and include a
bulleted item, the text looks much clearer when I play the movie.
Why is does this occur. I am interested in knowing because I would
like to keep the text as clear as possible. Any ideas are
appreciated. I can even send a sample slide if anyone is interested
in seeing the problem first hand. Thanks.

    Hi Kelly
There are essentially two different ways to "fix" the fuzzy text. If it's a one off, you may add a line or three at the bottom of the Caption. Then configure the bottom line with a bullet. After that, size the caption so you don't see the bullet.
Or, if you want to influence all transparent captions, click Edit > Preferences > Project > SWF Size and Quality and clear the Anti-alias Transparent Captions option.
Keep in mind that this may also be affected by the Windows settings that are configured. Specifically, an option called "font smoothing". If Font Smoothing is enabled on the PC used to edit and publish the Captivate, it also causes another type of Anti-aliasing to occur that is unrelated to what you see in Captivate.

  • ITunes 10.6 store blurry/fuzzy text?

I am using Windows 7 X64 SP1 with the latest updates from Microsoft.
I am currently using a Nvidia GTX 460 graphics card, with the latest Nvidia drivers.
I have tried repeatedly to reset iTunes store cache, emptied Windows temp files, does repair options on both iTunes as well as Quicktime.
I have also tried resetting both ClearType (including trying it turned off completely), and reset video card driver settings.
I have tried to re-install both iTunes and Quicktime. I even uninstalled iCloud, and Safari. Still no effective change or improvement in any of those cases.
Yet, the problem still remains. Many times when I try to browse the iTunes store, the text is very blurry and fuzzy and difficult to read. Sometimes the text becomes completely unreadable.
    Anyone else have similar experiences?
Anyone know of a workaround, or should I just delete both iTunes and quicktime, and go back to iTunes 10.5 until their is a fix? It all started with the latest iTunes update that supposedly changes how it displays artwork and things. I can't tell any real difference between 10.5 and 10.6 in the case of artwork, but the display of text is getting very frustrating.

Ha! Issue solved. The track not showing the arrows was a PDF in iTunes. All is well.

  • Is there a way to save a table in Photoshop (that was created in InDesign) without fuzzy text?

I am trying to save a table in Photoshop that was created in InDesign for web use. When I save it as a png (can't save as pdf or jpeg due to limitations with our company's website), the text appears fuzzy (pixelated?). Is this because the table is getting flattened/rasterized?
Is there a different adobe product that can be used to avoid this happening? The company who has built our website has a style editor that has limited capabilities. We have tried using the website's editor to create the tables; however, the editor lacks the flexibilty and user-friendliness that comes with InDesign. That is why we opted to create the tables in Indesign.
In order to upload the table into the editor, the file must be saved as a png, so that is why we are creating in InDesign and then saving the table in Photoshop.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you for the help!
    Tracy

    Thanks for your help!
Just to clarify, are you suggesting going through the export process while in Indesign? I did that and saved the table as an EPS file, then proceeded to open it, trim, and save as png in Photoshop. I noticed it lost it's white background when I reopened it in Photoshop; the table appeared with a transparent background (which isn't a big deal). When I uploaded the png in the website it doesn't appear to be as blurry, so that did help.
    Thank you for the suggestion!

I've found mention of this bug in a bug report for the Netbeans IDE and from the information present over there it seems that the blurred text issue should be solved with the latest version of JDK7 (later than 7u40 build b28). Could you please try updating the JDK and see if the issue is solved?
I am really curious to know if the issue is fixed.
Updating the JDK fixed the fuzzy rendering Unfortunately it's introduced a new problem where the UI font (not the code editor font) is too big.

  • Problem with fuzzy text in Captivate 5

    Hi,
I know this is a question that has been raised before, but I'm yet to find a solution for my projects and live chat can't help me.  I'm using Captivate version 5, and regardless of whether I publish in high, medium or low quality, the text on my text captions and rollover captions appears fuzzy once published.  I'm using just the SWF to upload to a normal webpage (no LMS involved), without the HTML file, which I gather from previous posts may be a problem.  Can anyone help me around this please?
    Thanks,
    Laura

    Hi Laura
Likely nobody will be able to help here. What is happening is that by not using the associated HTML page, the SWF is being either stretched or compressed. When that happens, pixels become rearranged. Text gets fuzzy (if you reduce the size) and often blocky or "jaggy" (if you increase the size). Just the nature of dealing with raster (bitmapped) images.

  • Fuzzy text in Acrobat Pro X

    Hi,
I don't know if others noticed, but text seems to be displaying fuzzy in Acrobat Pro X, than Adobe Reader 9 or Apple Preview Mountain Lion. These screenshots should show the issue:
    http://img811.imageshack.us/img811/8615/acrobatproxvsadobereade.png
    http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/9200/acrobatproxvsappleprevi.png
Acrobat Pro X and Adobe Reader 9 are set to render on an LCD screen. All other display settings in the preferences seems to be the same.
Also, while colors seem similar in Acrobat Pro X and Apple Preview, they are a bit different in Adobe Reader 9. I don't know which one is the more faithful to the original, since the source is FrameMaker 9 on XP, a combination resulting in a very 'free' idea of color matching.
My monitor is a wide gamut, recently calibrated HP LP2475w.
The new Acrobat has an ugly Windowsy GUI, but it seems this is not the only problem. I wonder if this is a case of 'operator's error', or a bug in the Acrobat line.
    Paolo

    Hi Test,
Keep in mind all snapshots were taken on the same system, each window side-by-side. So, it is not a matter of turning smoothing on or off, since this would affect all documents at the same time. In fact, I tried different smoothing settings (including off), and this was not a viable solution.
I can clearly see a difference between the three examples. Text in Apple Preview is extremely clear. On Adobe Reader 9 it is quite clear, even if a bit heavier. In Acrobat Pro X it's even heavier, and very hard to read. More than text, I start to see confused ink stains (and have problems forming the sonic image of the words in my mind).
As for color, I guess you are right in suspecting there is a different interpretation of the embedded color profile. Acrobat Pro X (and Apple Preview/ColorSync) might correctly translate it (being a prepress settings), while Reader could be confused. I don't know where to choose a color profile in Reader 9, so I cannot test it.

  • Fuzzy Text on External Samsung 225BW

Hello- I have a MB Aluminum with an external Samsung 225BW LCD.
-Symptom: Fuzzy/ghosting text. Not terribly bad, but noticeable
    -Configuration:
    Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9400M
    Resolution: 1680x1-1050 (max) @ 60Hz (only option)
    Connected: DVI Cable

Viewed built in menus- Very clear and crisp
    Changing resolution- Gets worse
Played with font smoothing- no difference
    Tried calibrating, no differnce
    Thoughts? Thanks!

    Hello- Bumping this one along...
As an update, it seems to do this on any external display. Text is very unclear and of poor quality. Built in display fonts look ok. I've been reading lately that Snow Leopard seems to have a problem with external displays on MacBooks, but this hasn't come from Apple.
    Any advice?

  • Windows 8 Blurry/Fuzzy Text

    Hi everyone,
I recently installed Windows 8 and i noticed that the screen puts a lot of strain on my eyes compared to Windows 7. It seems like the screen/text is blurry/fuzzy a bit putting strain on my eyes. It is not as crisp as it was in Windows 7. Almost too powerful?
    Anyone else experiencing this issue?

I bought an Asus laptop with a 1920 x 1080 resolution 15.6" screen and windows 8 and I find the screen is tiring. The laptop has an i7-4700HQ cpu with onboard gpu and a separate nVidia gpu for higher demand games and applications.
There is some Eye strain with this laptop. I have suspected:
    1) the small text as I am entering presbyopia world at 44 this year, or;
    2) perhaps it is the pwm way that led backlights are controlled in lcd screens.
    3) I've heard windows 8 and newer text is problematic.
I do change the scaling of the text in windows on the laptop, and in apps like Google Chrome and IE, but that does not worsen anything. Scaling isn't worse, it only makes things bigger and easier to read, which seems to help, but I still get tired looking at
the laptop screen. I have Clear Type on and without it, things look worse. I have tried various brightness levels. The text on the laptop seemed to look nice at first. I thought it looked "smooth", perhaps because of the high resolution of the screen
(it is non-reflective matte). I suppose that is because of the higher resolution. In reality though, I find I am straining to focus on it. It seems oddly soft.
What I don't understand, is why is it when I connect my older 17" lcd monitor to the laptop and use that as the only display, the text in windows 8 on that monitor is also blurry, and worse than it was when I used the 17" lcd display with my AMD64 desktop with
    XP Pro.
Is it the display card or windows 8? Not sure what to do.

  • Blurry or Fuzzy Text & Headings???

I use Acrobat Professional 7.1 and it has worked and printed properly until the last couple days.  Something has recently changed and now my printing is blurry...
When I receive a pdf and go to print it out, the preview looks normal. When I print, if there is a logo (business letterhead), it now prints blurry with a bunch of rectangular boxes forming the text.  In some cases the text prints out normal, and other times it prints out fuzzy.  Please see examples attached.
I have tried numerous things following the Acrobat Help menu's but nothing seems to work.  Any help would be appreciated!

Well it is inevitable that as the camera dollys in to the text the text will begin to pixelate as it gets larger. You can mitagate this to some degree using the camera parameters, specifically the angle of view and near and far planes. These allow you to control how large the text becomes before it disappears from view. You can also use the sharpen filter to help keep the text sharper as the camera zooms in on it. It really is a matter of playing with the parameters to get a good result. You might also find the near and far fade camera controls helpfull as a final tweak to the text.

  • Fuzzy text in terminal on rMacBook Pro

Not sure if this is a bug. Looks like the text in the terminal app lost has lost its crispness on the retina macbook pro. It's no longer retina resolution. Does Apple take bug submissions on this forum?

Thanks for replying. I actually enabled antialiasing to see if that would work but it stayed fuzzy. Just unchecked it again as you said and the blurriness is still there. I'm quitting and restarting the terminal between trials. Don't know if the resolution will come across but here's a screenshot. It's just really uncomfortable to read.

  • Fuzzy text characters on Tecra 9100 with low screen resolution

When using the standard Toshiba S3 video drivers for Windows XP I seem to be experiencing problems with the display when the resolution is set to 1024 x 768 or lower.
Any text on the screen is fuzzy / weird quality.
If I select a higher resolution the screen is fine with crisp / sharp text.
Does anyone know how to resolve this problem?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Simon
Dont panic! This is not a malfunction or a problem
The native resolution of your internal screen should be higher as 1024x768 therefore you should leave the notebook running with the highest possible resolution.
This issue was discussed already in this forum. You should check this:

  • Fuzzy text after rendering to DVD!!

    Hello,
I've successfully wrote my movie to DVD but the text (especially the white text on a black background) is fuzzy and unclear. Interesting enough, the black text on a white background is clearer, and even better text on a textured background.
Any suggestions on how to fix, or at least improve this.
I used Lucida bright text, and the average font size is about 30 to 33 pt.
    Thanks in advance!!!!
    Greener

    Update,
Since posting my question I have scrolled through previous posts looking for answers. I have read the following suggestions:
    1. Adjust RGB to 235 and opacity to %90.
I did a series of test clips with RGB adjustments and opacity. I also changed fonts (from Lucida bright) to Arial. I read that fonts with 2 pixels or less are unsuitable (I'm not sure what Lucida bright is so in my test clips, I changed it just in case). In my test I used 30, 35 and 40 point text.
Long story, short: I couldn't tell the difference between my old clips and the adjusted ones. Text still slightly fuzzy, especially on the scolling credits.
Perhaps I'm missing something (likely, as I'm very new to this) or this is as good as it gets.
Any further suggestions or advice? Thanks,

  • Why do I get "Fuzzy Text" when printing from the web?

A short time ago I was able to print text from Internet webpages and my school website. Now the text is coming out fuzzy when I try to print. I can print Word and PDF documents OK. But not PDF documents saved from the websites.

In Excel, right click and choose Format Chart Area. In the dialog at the left, choose Fonts. Change the font to Arial or something other than Calibri (Theme Body). Then copy/paste.

  • Fuzzy Text in large block

I am trying to include a large amount of text in my iMovie. None of the applications for text allowed me enough space to do this or they scrolled to fast for my text to be readable. I decided to create a picture in photoshope with all my text in it and to use this picture as a clip in the movie. I've been having a difficult time with the text becoming fuzzy even when the movie is exported in high resolution. I tried to fix this problem by using final cut pro to type the text in a movie clip rather than as a part of a photo, and then to put this final cut pro clip with the text in iMovie. The text is still fuzzy. Strangely, when the clips with text fade in and out they snap into focus. Thanks

Your Photoshop picture must be 640x480 pixels. NTSC Video isn't larger than that.
If you use PAL, the picture must be 768x576 pixels.
In any case, use simple, sans-serif fonts like Arial or Helvetica in large sizes.
Finally, set the Ken Burns zoom to 1x (both start and end zoom). Optionally, you can THEN turn off Ken Burns.
