FVAT log report having invalid characters

Hello ,
The FireFighter VFAT log report which received through email contains invalid characters. And the log report received as TXT file. I could not able to paste the invalid characters here as its not able to show up in this page. But it looks like a square box where ever we suppose have blanks in the log report it comes with this square box characters.
Please help me to find any solution to avoid these invalid character.
here is the Virsa release details
VIRSA     400_640     0008
FireFighter 3.0 release
Thanks
Sridhar

Hi,
I suspect that the issue is with the language settings.
- Check the default language of the system
- Check the user parameters in SU01 for the GRC VFAT user ID (Parameters shuch as CDG will force the language).
- Check the SCOT settings. (Your basis team can help)
This should resolve the issue.

  • Discoverer Report showing invalid characters in the report data

    Hi,
Can you please help me. I have designed a discoverer report in discoverer desktop 4i, when it is running the data showing some invalid characters in the data like below.
    kara¿ah     L¿MAK HOLD¿NG A.¿
I have executed the same query in sql plus at that time the data shows correctly. Please let me know, is there any settings required.
    Best Regards,
    Umamaheshwar.

    Hi Umamaheshwar
This could be a registry setting. Let me give you some background. In the Windows registy, every Oracle Home has a setting called NLS_LANG. This is the variable that controls, among other things, the numeric characters and the language used. The variable is made up of 3 parts. These are:
    language_territory.characterset
Notice how there is an underscore character between the first two variables and a period between the last two. This is very important and must not be changed.
So, for example, most American settings look like this: AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252
The second variable, the territory, controls the default date, monetary, and numeric formats and must correspond to the name of a country. So if I wanted to use the Greek settings for numeric formatting, editing the NLS_LANG for Discoverer Desktop to this setting will do the trick:
    AMERICAN_GREECE.WE8MSWIN1252
Can you please check your settings? Here's a workflow:
    a) Open up your registry by running Regedit
    b) Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE
    c) Look for the Oracle Home corresponding to where Discoverer Desktop is installed. It's probably called KEY_ORANT
    d) Clicking on the Oracle Home will display all of the variables
    e) Take a look at the variable called NLS_LANG - if it is correct Exit the registry
    f) If its not correct please right-click on it and from the pop-up select Modify
    f) Change the variable to the right setting
    g) Click the OK button to save your change
    h) Exit the registry
    Best wishes

  • Generate PDF file from a report using greek characters

    Dear all,
I tried to generate a PDF file from a Report having greek characters on it.While in previewer I could see everything OK, when PDF file was generated all greek characters had been substituted by symbols...
Any ideas, suggestions and workarounds are welcome.
    Thanx a lot!

    hi Kiriakos,
which version are you using ?
please test this with reports 9i since PDF support
    has been enhanced there.
to test i would suggest to run the report from rwclient
as well and specify desformat=pdf and to a generate to
file within builder to see if the same behavior occurs.
if this problem reproduces there as well i suggest
to contact oracle support to log the problem.

  • Invalid FF Log Report

    Hi All,
Recently all GRC projects which are using GRC 10 and GRC 10.1 versions have a common issue called "Invalid FF Log Reports"
I browsed through a lot of discussions in SCN and lot of SAP notes as well, but don't have correct information on
why this is happening and how to fix this issue.
Few things as per my understanding:
    1. If Firefighter Log synch and FF Workflow synch both are running together though parameter 4007 set as "YES"
Apart from this are there any reasons why the workflows shows Invalid FF log report? Please suggest
SAP Suggestions to fix this issue: I gathered these options to try but wanted advise from users who have used these options and did they work?
    1.  As per note 1781142, SAP suggest to cancel those log review workflows with "Invalid FF Log report"
    2.  Need to identify the workflow with Invalid FF log report generated for which FF session using " 2122027 - How to identify the workflow generated for a given FFID session?"
and then Execute program "GRAC_EAM_ERROR_LOG_WORKFLOW" to clean-up all cases where Invalid FF Log Report got generated.
This program comes as part of SAP Note "1930562 - Workflow got generated with empty logs due to inconsistency"
    3. SAP Note 1934127 -  1934127 - GRC10 EAM: EAM recovery program to retrieve missing log and to generate the missing workflows
This program GRAC_EAM_LOG_SYNC_TIMEBASED has anyone used it?
Actually if the program GRAC_EAM_ERROR_LOG_WORKFLOW clean-up all the workflows with Invalid FF log report then I want to run this program
to re-send workflows to controllers again. But during execution of this program what are the options to be selected in order to run this
program only for those workflows failed with Invalid FF log report?
    ~ Madan

    Hi Madan,
    please check thread http://scn.sap.com/thread/3583971
At the end, there is a short handling document for GRAC_EAM_LOG_SYNC_TIMEBASED.

  • The File name property is not valid. The file name is a device or contains invalid characters

I have an SSIS task that has run successfully for years. They just moved the dtsx to a new server and now it is failing.
    Issue:
The task has a data flow that writes a raw file destination. It then has a subsequent data flow that reads the raw file destination.
The path and name of the raw file is passed to each of the data flows via the same variable.
The raw file resides in a folder on the server in the same path that the dtsx resides in.
The task fails with the "The File name property is not valid. The file name is a device or contains invalid characters" error when trying to access the raw file.
What we have done to troubleshoot:
    1. I ran the task successfully on my local machine so it is definitely a server issue.
    2. The first thing we were seeing was that it failed trying to write to the raw file. The task is set to "Create Always".
    3. We saw that the dba's copied over the entire directory structure from the old server which included a previously created raw file, so we deleted the raw file.
    4. We reran the task and it successfully wrote a new raw file but then failed on reading the raw file with the same error as above.
    5. We reran the task AGAIN and this time it failed trying to write the raw file throwing the same error as above.
    6. The dba looked at the directory and the account that performs the task has full control.
    7. The dba looked at the raw file that was created and verified that the account that performs the task has full control of the file and that it is the owner of the file.
    Summary:
The task fails when trying to access the file EXCEPT when the file does not exist. In that situation it can write the file but subsequently fails in accessing it again.

    Hi Whalensdad,
Based on my research, the issue can be caused by the following reasons:
There are some invalid characters in the File name at package runtime. In this scenario, just as Russ said, could you please post the value that is in the File name variable? Also use a Script Task with Messagebox.show to show the variable values at runtime.
May be it changes to others at run time.
The account runs the package not having access to all the folders in the path. Since you are moving the dtsx file from one server to the current server, do you also move the raw file to the same folder in the current server? Does the user runs the package
have access to all the folders in the path? To solve this, please ensure that the user has access to all folders and the raw file in the path on the current server.
    Thanks,

Please see the response above. I can't use a message box on a server so I logged the values to the database. The resource account has full control to the folder. I haven't been able to get the DBA to check the SQL Agents permissions, but I was always under
the impression that if you use "Run As" on the task, it will not use the SQL Agent but the account you identify it to "Run As". The "Run As" account has full control on the folder and file.

  • Invalid Characters shown in UTF-8 character set

There is an XMLP report whose template output character set is ISO-8859-1. The character set ISO-8859-1 is required for this report as per Spanish Authorities. When the report is run, output gets generated in the output directory file of application server. This output file doesn't contain any invalid characters.
But when the output is opened from SRS window, which opens it in a browser, the invalid characters are shown for characters like Ñ , É etc.
    Investigation done:
Found that the output generated on the server is having ISO encoding and hence doesn't contain any invalid characters. Whereas the output generated from SRS window, it is in UTF encoding, so it seems the invalid characters are displayed when conversion takes place from ISO to UTF-8 format.
Created the eText output using the data xml and template using BI publisher tool, the output is in ISO encoding. So if i go and change the encoding to UTF-8 by opening it in explorer or Notepad++, invalid charcters are shown for Ñ, É etc.
Is there any limitation, that output from SRS window will show only in UTF-8 encoding? If not then please suggest.
    Thanks,
    Saket

    Hi Srini,
When customer is viewing output from the SRS window, then it contains invalid characters because it is in UTF-8 character set. Customer is on Oracle OnDemand so they cannot take the output generated on the server.Every time they have to raise a request to Oracle for the output file. So the concern here is, why don't the output from SRS window show output with valid characters ?
The reason could be conversion of ISO format to UTF-8. How could this be resolved ? Does SRS window output cannot generate in ISO format ?
A quick reply will be appreciated as customer is chasing for an update.
    Thanks,

  • Dynamic column Name# Contains Invalid Characters. Bind_table() fails

    Hi WD experts,
I have tried to use the bind_table() on a dynamically generated table. Now it happens that this dynamic table contains  columns like NAME# . This gave rise to a dump :
The Name NAME# Contains Invalid Characters. Valid Characters are A-Z, 0-9, _, and /.
Other tables which do not have such columns are correctly bound.
In my method , I first loop over the field catalog to retrieve some field names from a dynamicallt generated report...
      LOOP AT lt_fieldcat_out INTO lwa_fieldcat.
        comp-name = lwa_fieldcat-fieldname.
        comp-type ?= cl_abap_typedescr=>DESCRIBE_BY_DATA( lwa_fieldcat-FIELDNAME ).
        APPEND comp TO comp_tab.

                                              p_strict = abap_FALSE   ).
      node_info = wd_context->get_node_info( ).
      node_info = node_info->add_new_child_node(

  • Firefighter log report does not show programs executed under SA38/SE38

We are on version 400_700 of Compliance Calibrator.  When executing the log report, the report name only shows "RFC".  We are testing SA38 & SE38.  I expected the report to display the program name.  Is there something set up wrong or are my expectations too high?  Thanks!

    Hi Vikki,
I dont think you can see the programs executed under SA38/SE38.
The functionality of Virsa Firefighter allows you to see the following log reports:
    Firefight log summary
    Reason/Activity report
    Firefight Transaction usage report
    Invalid Firefight ids/Owners/Control
    Log Report
    SOD conflicts in Firefighter

  • Error: Topic ID "Ầ‾»¿#define" contains invalid characters.

    Hi,
I have just upgraded to RoboHelp for Word 9. When I compile I get the message:
Warning - HC3033: File RhubarbRhubarb.hh: The Topic ID "Ầ‾»¿#define" contains invalid characters. The #, =, >, @, !, or \Â˚haracters cannot be used in a WinHelp version 4.0 source file.
I have 7 files in the project and there is one of these error messages for each file. I checked the .hh files and there is nothing corresponding to that as a Topic ID. I don't use any special characters in my Topic IDs anyway.
It doesn't seem to be having any effect on my generated project but I'm uneasy about unexplainable error messages. Does anyone have an idea why they're there and how to remove them please?
    regards
    Christina

To the best of my knowledge (haven't used Rh for Word for a long time) the only solution is sleuthing the elusive illegal character.

    Hi,
Based on your description, I guess that you get Event ID 7016. For this Event,
If a service is not coded correctly to appropriately handle control calls from the Service Control Manager (SCM), the SCM may log this event -- with a invalid current state value of zero (0). For more details, please refer to following article and

  • Accepting invalid characters

    Hi,
Here we had a field that the users can enter any thing and any language and they want to report on that.
Tried entering values in RSKC. But i can not enter in RSKC every time there is invalid char. Is there a option at the infoobject level taht we can select . So that it wont check for validity and generate sid out of that . So we can do reporting on the field.
    Thanks,
    Ravi.

    Hi,
As a long term you can apply some user exit in source system side or change your update rules to ensure that this field is getting blanked out before getting loaded in cube or add that particular char to permitted character list in BW (Run TCODE RSKC
Input the <character> and execute the program) This will add <character> to the allowed characters list.
    OR
    RSKC --> type ALL_CAPITAL --> F8 (Execute)
    OR
Go to SE38 and execute the program RSKC_ALLOWED_CHAR_MAINTAIN and give ALL_CAPITAL or the char you want to add.
Check the table RSALLOWEDCHAR. It should contain ALL_CAPITAL or the char you have entered.

is this a forum bug? are there such things as invalid characters???

This MAY be totally unrelated - but maybe not.
The SiteWare is particular about some characters under some circumstances. I have not been alerted like you were, but I have seen this when posting screenshots Using an add-on to my browser that put's the "Title" of the page grabbed into the filename it saves...
    All ASC pages have
" ... | Apple Support Communities " at the end of the title
the " | " (vertical 'stroke') is an illegal character in a filename for POSTING to the server -  and there are others
